Dumbest Man on the Internet Forgets to Delete the Unedited Version of the Image He Edited

Following up once again on our posts about Jim Hoft and his now-debunked “report” (I’m using quotes because calling anything Hoft does a “report” is a wild exaggeration) that officer Darren Wilson suffered an “orbital blowout fracture of the eye socket,” we showed yesterday that Hoft or someone at his site had deceptively blacked out the words “UNIV OF IOWA” in the example CT scan they posted, presumably to trick people into thinking it was a scan of Darren Wilson. (In truth, it was a stock image Hoft lifted from a medical site.)

And the trick worked, by the way; right wingers all over Twitter, Facebook and blogs reposted the image as “Darren Wilson’s X-ray.” This bogus claim made it all the way up the wingnut ladder to Ann Coulter’s latest column, in fact.

But hilariously, when Hoft edited the image to erase those words, he simply left the original unedited version on his server without deleting it, and replaced it in the post with the doctored one. How do I know this? Because the unedited image is still right there on Hoft’s web server where he left it:

Image: orbital-blowout.jpg

If you hover over that link, you’ll see that it goes to the Gateway Pundit /uploads/ folder, and has the filename “orbital-blowout.jpg”. (Click the link to see the image.)

The doctored version of the image is here:

Image: cranial-.jpg

And this one has the filename “cranial-.jpg”.

Just in case Hoft now tries to delete the unedited image, I saved a copy of the page at webcitation.org, where you can see that it really was at that address:

webcitation.org

Just one more inadvertently funny example of why Jim Hoft is well known as the Dumbest Man on the Internet.

You own a SGT York? Cool.

4 earlgately  Aug 22, 2014 5:18:34pm

Showing a faked eye scan does not mean there wasn’t an eye injury still to the officer, however, it does very much taint the reporting of The Gateway Pundit. If telling the truth, yet using a fake ct scan to illustrate, it calls into question the entire story. What purpose does it serve for JIm Hoft to present something that will be discredited so easily when the entire case goes to grand jury.

Probably hell on the insurance rates.

Welcome to LGF.

Jim Hoft does not care about the truth because the truth is irrelevant to his mission of whipping up right wing nut jobs in MO and around the country.

The prosecutor said in his first press conference that he would release all evidence following the grand jury if they declined to indict, including seeking court orders where necessary.

However, that won’t tell us how he presented the information to the jury, which can also have a substantial impact in how it is perceived. That will remain sealed, I’m pretty sure.

Stupidest Man On Internet Declares Victory After Liberal Media Leaves Ferguson Because Of Him

The Stupidest Man on the Internet, Jim Hoft, is a resident of St. Louis, Missouri, which is why he calls himself “The Gateway Pundit” (for the longest time, we thought it was a reference to the brand of computer he used). And as a Local Expert, Jim Hoft, the Stupidest Man on the Internet, has been a veritable font of misinformation and speculation about the shooting of Michael Brown and the subsequent demonstrations and police overreactions. And today, Jim Hoft personally took credit for a smashing final victory over the Liberal Media

So it turns out that it is in fact possible to hack into traffic lights and turn them green for you.

In fact, the most upsetting passage in the entire paper is the dismissive response issued by the traffic controller vendor when the research team presented its findings. According to the paper, the vendor responsible stated that it “has followed the accepted industry standard and it is that standard which does not include security.”

Hmmm, what’s going on with that GoFundMe for Wilson.

Who’s running it now? Who started it initially?

Well, we know who’s running it now; it’s a 501(c)(3):

Originally called the Fraternal Order Of Police Lodge 15 Charitable Foundation, Shield of Hope was founded in late 2011. (The name was changed shortly after.) According to a filing with the Missouri Secretary of State’s office, the charity’s board of directors include the Ferguson Police Department’s Public Relations Officer Timothy Zoll, Missouri State Rep. Jeffrey Roorda (a former police officer), and Florissant City Council member Joe Eagan.

Zoll is linked to the original GoFundMe, but the more interesting name is Roorda, because he’s also the state rep who tried to keep the names of officers involved in shootings secret.

The other person involved, Joe Eagan, appears be the same Joe Eagan who was a former police officer who was nearly killed in a carjacking. Three suspects in the shooting were eventually arrested.

Reality says that I am much more likely to be useful for my knowledge than for the supplies I provide, because those will be temporary but someone does actually need to understand the principles behind things in order to recreate some of the technological advances folks would probably like to take advantage of again.

Not going to get that bad in a couple lifetimes. Thinking more of a local, temporary return to the Good Old Days of the Good old Boys. Our AO is just finishing up the trial from the last cross-burning.

Exactly. I still can’t get my head around this attitude from FPD of:

“You and yours will be gunned down in the streets at our sole discretion, and the only acceptable response from the community to such a shooting is ‘Sir. Yes Sir. May I have another Sir!’”

BBC America’s had a marathon this week of all the NuWho series, though I’ve not had the time to really watch them. But I plan to make a point of tuning in tomorrow, when I assume Day and Time will be replaying.

Serious exhaustion/depletion of fossil fuels within the lifetimes of our current pre-teens is not what I’d call an outside disruption. Many of the laws that we have in place will deny us the flexibility to adapt (enough) to drastic changes, and will criminalize nearly all of us as we try to adapt.

I hope so as well. But we have more than a few far-far-right haters out in the deep woods near enough to here though and the far right is why I have my Wisconsin CCL. Some of what I have is preperish (Rock Island 1911, SKS, S&W Model 10), some is simply classic hunting (Remington 700 .30-06) & some is pure history (M1 Carbine, M91/30, Type 99 Arisaka) and so on. As DD put it, if things do break down, this liberal won’t be the lightest armed fellow in the neighborhood and will probably be helping organize the defense of the area.

The one thing humans are good at is adaptation. I took a lot of comfort in an economist on NPR who described the events associated with “peak whale-oil”. You don’t run out of oil, you run out of oil that costs less than a thousand dollars a barrel.

It’s kinda sad to see the topic even up, but hey well said. May all our preparations for the worst be in vain. Rodney King riots-we organized a 24 hours a day fire watch. Just for out block and the little strip mall where neighbors had a donuts shop.

Sound paranoid? Nah that’s why we called it a fire watch. That’s how to keep it calm and cool when the shit hits. God forbid we have needless escalation. Nobody feels threatened by a man with a red tank in his hand with a handle and hose. The risk of arson was high and just having eyes out was a deterrent. The guns stayed out of sight and away from the public. Nothing happened. Well a couple neighbors asked for a gun and I offered up a kitchen fire extinguisher and a lecture on how to act with appropriate seriousness. Not bravado bullshit. Fake manly men don’t want a fire extinguisher. Good neighbors do though.

Had anyone tried to burn or loot the strip mall it would have gotten harsh. A decision was made that a fire was a threat to the residences behind the mall. But nobody but the gun owners ever saw the guns.

Crap Lets not do that again.

The Valeyard was, according to the Master, “an amalgamation of the darker side of the Doctor’s nature”, taken from somewhere between his “twelfth and final incarnations”. (TV: The Ultimate Foe)

Resident requirements seem reasonable to me for police. If you’re unwilling to live there, maybe you shouldn’t be patrolling there. To take it further, say Detroit, and say it’s a dump and unsuitable to raise a family, you definitely should not be patrolling there.

They are supposed to be public servants to the city the work in, and should have a stake in it rather that escaping to their (white) suburbs and telling stores to their neighbors about the “savages.”

It was well worth getting banned to post the link back to LGF. Charles does a great job spreading the truth about the deranged far right in this country. Thanks Charles for your service.
