Loony Bryan Fischer: Michelle Obama Should Start a ‘Fight Obesity, Go Straight’ Anti-Lesbian Campaign

Deranged hatred can be inadvertently funny

I haven’t done a post about religious loony Bryan Fischer in a while, because he’s so predictably hateful and dim-witted it gets boring, but this one made me laugh: Bryan Fischer Wants Michelle Obama to Start a ‘Fight Obesity, Go Straight’ Anti-Lesbian Campaign.

“I would suggest that if Michelle Obama really cares about obesity,” Fischer said, “she should be out there leading the charge against normalizing lesbianism. She should be at the head of a campaign to convince women not to get into lesbianism. Her slogan ought to be ‘Fight Obesity, Go Straight.’”

I have nothing against the Christians here, but Fischer just symbolizes the need for this campaign.

Fischer: God Is Cursing Us With Bear Attacks for Failing to Follow the Bible | Right Wing Watch

The grizzly is a predator, a fierce, savage unstoppable killing machine. Lewis and Clark did not believe the stories they’d been told by Indian peoples about grizzlies until they started running into them. It was not long before their “curiosity” was “quite satisfied” about the grizzly.

Because these researchers were intent on studying the grizzly rather than killing him to protect innocent human life, a husband, father and grandfather is dead today. This was an utterly unnecessary death which could have happened only because our culture has jettisoned a biblical view of the relative value of human life compared to animal life.

Because this animal was given a nap instead of a bullet, a human being is dead, and a savage animal is alive, on the prowl, and ready to kill again.

This whole thing stems from an NIH study:

It is now well-established that women of minority sexual orientation are disproportionately affected by the obesity epidemic, with nearly three-quarters of adult lesbians overweight or obese, compared to half of heterosexual women. In stark contrast, among men, heterosexual males have nearly double the risk of obesity compared to gay males.

Curious that Fischer isn’t emphasizing the bolded part. The percentage obesity risk for straight men vs. gay is much worse. Bryan should be encouraging all of his followers to get out there and get themselves some of this:

Hot and nasty, sweat and meaty.

This is just more rwnj anti-science attitude. OK, not ‘just’, there’s also bigotry and a heaping helping of stupidity here.

But to be serious for a moment, if you click through the RWW link to the Wapo link, the article brings up some indication of EVEN MORE study needed on the subject.

[…]

The researchers, led by an epidemiologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, have already concluded that lower athletic self-esteem among lesbians may lead to higher rates of obesity and that lesbians are more likely to see themselves at a healthy weight when they are not, according to the Free Beacon report.

Researchers have also determined that gay and bisexual males had a “greater desire for toned muscles” than straight men. This supposedly helps explain why gay men are generally more fit than lesbians.

By now, you’re probably wondering why the government is funding a study that, so far, has largely reinforced stereotypes of gays and lesbians. The project summary says that “racial and socioeconomic disparities are receiving increasing attention” and lesbian obesity is “of high public-health significance.”

[…]

If I am not mistaken, as a group lesbians are poorer than gay men. This could have more correlation with poverty than with gender identity.

Gay people also have higher rates of depression. There is correlation between depression and obesity. It is entirely possible that by insulting and shaming lesbians, Bryan Fischer is making them fatter.

I don’t know. If he did, it won’t happen before November.

I have to partially disagree. Reform can’t wait for the war to end,I agree, but it is going to have to be done while ISIS is getting pummeled. Because the enemy will not stand still and wait while things in Baghdad are reformed. So yes, we have to hold the new Iraqi government to its promises, but we need to be bombing ISIS at the same time.

What in the world makes you think we can force lasting reform in a culture & religion that many Americans little or no knowledge or understanding of, yet feel intense hostility towards? Our past successes? If so, please list them.

Didn’t we just spend nearly 8 years trying to reform Iraq? Haven’t we already spent just shy of 13 years trying to reform Afghanistan? And what has it gotten us? ISIS in Iraq? Crooked politicians & the Taliban (still alive & well) in Afghanistan?

So yeah, let’s go intervene again and see if we can’t muck things up some more. Heck, while we’re at it maybe we can also crash our economy over war spending—that way we can destroy ourselves and save the Jihadis the trouble.

It was part of his strategy that got Russia to get the Syrians to give up their chemical weapons: He threatened attack, and went to Congress to get permission. Their waffling lasted just long enough for Putin to blink. Whether Congress was going along is a different story.

And I believe the right gave Putin the credit.

Well, it doesn’t have to be that. I’m quite glad that Chicago won’t be wasting the huge amount of money that goes into building things for the Olympics that never pay for themselves or get used for much of anything real ever again. The modern Olympics is a sick corrupt joke that needs to die off.

I understand and appreciate everything you said. The fact remains that republicans cheered the US losing the Olympics for purely political reasons; to give Obama a big FU . To me, that’s completely unforgivable.

If I am not mistaken, as a group lesbians are poorer than gay men. This could have more correlation with poverty than with gender identity.

Gay people also have higher rates of depression.

The Lesbian couples I personally know have decent financial circumstances. Most are fit, actually. One couple, however, has quite a bit of income and are both, one a relative, are morbidly obese. To some extent I consider the obesity thing a reaction to male stereotypes. You generally don’t have to worry about being hit on if you weigh 300 pounds.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann to Speak at Ascend Conference 2014 in Los Angeles

Speaking along with Bachmann, who announced last year that she will not seek re-election this fall, will be Isik Abla, an ex-Muslim, ordained minister and international ministry speaker who was raised in a Muslim home in Turkey. She was physically abused and escaped from that environment into an even more abusive situation with a Muslim extremist husband. At 25, she fled for her life to America, and after years of struggling and failing in many areas, Isik entered into intense depression. She had a personal encounter with God on the day she was planning her suicide. After several years in a business career, Isik obeyed God’s call to full time ministry, and today she hosts an international television program that’s distributed in five languages. […]

Well, they did take over Tripoli International, so there is some valid concern. But valid concern involves knowing the facts on the ground, whereas all the “Twitchy Team” wants to do is scream “BENGHAZI!!1”.

These missing Libyan planes?

Missing Planes!

I’ve been following the fight over the airport through airliners.net. Most of the planes left there were relatively short haul craft, A-318’s and -319s or ancient Boeings. They got the expensive birds out if they could. A lot of them got smashed, but some were certainly flyable by pilots with some stones. If they could fuel them. If they could start them. If the runways were clear enough not to pop the ties or shear a gear off.

Threat level to the West? 2 on a 10 scale.

Bryan’s afraid of bears because the ones he met at the club didn’t call him back.

The thing I come back to is that his hate of Grizzly Bears puts him on a collision course with the praise of “Momma Grizzles” repeatedly spoken by Princess Dumbass of the North Woods. So perhaps we should ask Bryan Fisher why he clearly hate Sarah Palin.

Here’s a theory — anyone who’s trying to attract the attention of men, shallow and visual as they are, makes an effort to stay thin. Ergo, gay men care a great deal about their physiques, lesbians don’t.

McCain’s idea of “sound judgement” is picking a not even halfway through her first term as governor of a small state (population) simply to placate his wacko base and cynically try to get the women’s vote. Obama OTOH is very careful with his decisions. In that way Obama is more like Lincoln, Washington, and many of our other great leaders. McCain OTOH is a great reminder of why you don’t want someone who goes in his with his dick sticking out and asking questions later.

286 teleskiguy  Sep 2, 2014 8:24:44pm

So yeah, went on a BIG ride on my bike today. Point-to-point (with shuttle) 35 miles, all but 5 of those miles on dirt and rock, about 85% singletrack and the first 14 miles were well above 11,000 feet. 11 miles uphill, 24 miles downhill. One flat tire (repaired with two patches, the classic pinchflat) and I had to jump off my bike twice ‘cause it got kinda hairy. The first 10 miles of the Monarch Crest trail is among the most beautiful places I’ve ever taken a mountain bike, breathtaking!
