Can’t be too careful. The problem with having that kind of equipment is that 99.99% of the time, it just sits there collecting dust. Sure is tempting to use it for a drug bust or a domestic disturbance, isn’t it?

In theory it should. But there are always ways around inconvenient details. The original text doesn’t say “the fetus dies”, it says “her fruit departs from her”. It’s relatively easy to fiddle with the translation to minimize the impact of this. For example, the New English Translation turns this into “… her child is born prematurely, but there is no serious injury.”

What I remember liking about him while he was far from the most moderate GOPer in the Senate, he was probably among the most diplomatic. He never struck me as an overly partisan guy like McCain has shown himself to be. I also had loads of respect for his military service. I think he understood war much better than many in the GOP including some of his fellow vets like McCain. But you’re right, as soon as Obama picked him, he became a HAmas sympathizer. It was nasty. The thing I remember is even when I was at my most partisan back then, I still thought enough of him to ask him a respectful question and he was polite to me and the whole group of oyung journalists that went that morning.I actually have a better memory of that then how Mary Landrieu who met my political science class the same year treated us. Not that I found her rude or anything but Hagel just gave me a good impression that he was a genuine statesman who put country beyond party, the whole thing that McCain has claimed he is about but has shown himself ot be anything but especially under Obama.

Huntsman polled worse than Herman Cain. That’s all you need to know about the GOP and how they flip out if Obama says anything nice about you. What I remember liking about him while he was far from the most moderate GOPer in the Senate, he was probably among the most diplomatic. He never struck me as an overly partisan guy like McCain has shown himself to be. I also had loads of respect for his military service. I honestly think you can tell a lot about a candidate by looking at his advisers. Obama’s advisers I remember were pretty serious people. Samantha Powers who I believe took Susan Rice’s place was one of them and I remember her book A Problem From Hell being recommended by my Republican Congressman when he visited my high school. Romney I remember had guys like John Bolton advising him on FP and Kris Kobach of course was his immigration adviser. I still love how Obama called Mitt out on that when Mitt tried to weasel on immigration during the debates. I also remember McCain having Phil Gramm as an economic adviser and Gramm calling people whiners who were upset about the economy. Obama has always struck me as a guy who values a good team of people much like Lincoln did. It makes sense that Obama enjoyed Team of Rivals since he’s gone with that type of approach.

Interesting. Was not aware of that. Honestly what always did disappoint me about Mitt was how he was the total opposite of his father. George Romney actually was pretty bold in being a prominent LDS politician that took a strong stand in favor of civil rights and Mitt actually went from supporting LGBT rights(even have seen ads of him trying to out left Teddy Kennedy on the issue) to accusing POTUS of trying to force gay marriage. Much more important than the unsubstantiated claims that there were aircraft stolen in Libya.

This isn’t just a waiver-wire deal for second tier players. We’re talking about regional terror threats that have shown a disturbing efficiency in murdering civilians in the regions they operate in.

They’re moving away from the al Qaeda umbrella and are now shifting their focus/identities towards ISIS, which continues to be a regional threat in the Middle East, but which has aspirations for a wider conflict.

They may find that the increased aspirations has a huge downside, namely a greater focus and attention by the US and Europeans as well as local partners to go after these groups once and for all.

Until now, the US and regional allies have gone after ISIS piecemeal, along with Abu Sayaaf, JI, and Boko Haram. They’ll have to make a much more coordinated response, which means we’ll also see a spike in UAV strikes against leadership in those groups as well. The US has already shown that it’s willing to take the fight to these terror groups across borders, and the group is posing a more direct threat against US interests, so the Administration is addressing this threat more directly.

But the GOP will continue to claim the President doesn’t have a strategy, and that the US should do more. Of course, soundbites from people like Sen. McCain give up the game, and that the action the president should have taken back in 2013 would have played right into ISIS hands now - namely giving ISIS weapons and support in their fight against Assad.

Sorry to post and run, but duty calls. I just had 36 people to the house for a wake/dinner for our friend that passed on the 23rd on Sunday and I’m still cleaning up the mess. The Husband was literally NO help, he is totally on the Shit List for that. Enough beers were consumed to fill an entire 60 gallon recycling bin with cans and bottles and the trash bin is nearly full of after party trash. Then I took the kid back to school yesterday, the dog needs to go to the vet, so does the cat, the laundry is out of control, etc, etc. It was a weird weekend, fun, sad and exhausting. Later lizards. Be back when I can. Thanks for the derp debunk. Jesus these people need to learn to THINK.

Within 1 hour, three planes struck birds while landing at LGA. No injuries were reported and the planes all landed safely.

FAA sources say ExpressJet Flight 5400 was struck in the nose gear area as the aircraft was turning to land on Runway 31, while Flight 5432 reported striking a bird while taxiing to the ramp after landing.

No word on how the third bird-strike happened though.

Yep. I always associate late August and September with Yellow Jackets. And I am guessing there is a nest in the ground somewhere below the tree and some kind of a sweet food source nearby. They are in Yellow Jacket heaven.

Watch your food and drinks…they love to get into glasses and cans. And of course always remember they are a pain in the butt, easy to get pissed off and unlike a honey bee, they can sting repeatedly.

Get a can of wasp spray. You may need it.

A pharmacy alone isn’t a sustainable big business. There are still a few individual ones around, but even they sell other products to make a profit for the owner(s) ((sundries like blood pressure kits, band-aids, otc meds, personal care items ,,, candy,, soda

For the national chains to be profitable, the pharmacy is what brings people in, but the aisles stocked with merchandise keeps the doors opened

Chances are the nest in right by the tree. Some are above ground, maybe in the tree, but mostly they build underground and come out of a hole. This is the time of year the second and largest group hatch and take flight.

I’d be wary of them. If you keep seeing a lot of them, you might want to call someone to get rid of the nest.

As Mayor of SF, one of her most controversial moves was putting up City money for a $10M retrofit at Candlestick Park. Her opponents felt she should have forced private sector actors with an interest in the stadium and its teams to pay for it — even if that meant new zoning, building codes, lawsuits, and years of delay.

When Loma Prieta happened, and twenty thousand people didn’t die of having a stadium fall on them… that $10M sure looked like money well spent.

Fair enough. My impression of pretty much all lawyers is that they decide what they want their conclusion to be and work backwards from there. I don’t particularly mind - in fact I think it’s what everyone does in terms of moral decisions, so why should lawyers be any different?

I only get slightly worked up about it when they go out of their way to claim they’re doing anything different, which is usually in cases of “this ruling may seem like I’m being an asshole but really the constitution is making me do it” (exhibit A of this tendency being Scalia).

Just got back from shopping and saw this.

Today there are printers that can produce a graphic on a tee-shirt that looks just like screen printing, but with a finer line screen/dot pattern. And they can lay down a white background on a dark shirt and print up to 6 colors on top of it. And the ink/powder gets heat set and lasts as long as good old screen ink/dye. No screen charge and they can produce low numbers, even one if needed.

I know a local guy that prints many tee shirts and went with him when he was looking at the printer. Not cheap, but for what it does…wow!

Exactly. There are many online t-shirt companies and if you read through their processes you will see they offer direct to shirt printing.

The guy I mentioned is online too.

He also gets his screened Tees done in Mexico for a ridiculously cheap price. I think he said they can give him a 4-color printed shirt (Haines Beefy-t, a standard) for like $2.50, shirt and printing. Hard to compete with that.

He also uses heat transfers which when done properly look like a screened shirt too.

One of our local breakfast/lunch restaurants is owned by a Chef from Greece. He serves an international faire, mostly what American’s expect. All fresh ingredients, and always excellent.

His cousin from Athens is visiting (on vacation). He is also a Chef.

He has put his cousin to work and called it Greek Week.
