Best Story of the Day: Sarah Palin Clan Reportedly Involved in Huge Drunken Brawl

Only the highest quality gossip
Weird • Views: 48,414

Yes, I know, that headline! Can this possibly be true?

Well, dear readers, there are multiple sources now, so I believe this has to qualify as the best story of the day so far, as the whole Palin family is reported to have been involved in a giant drunken brawl at a party in Anchorage, complete with the mater familias screeching, “DON’T YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!” before uncorking her wicked left hook.

Yr Wonkette is where I first sighted this wondrous tale: Anchorage PD: Palins Were ‘Present’ at 20-Person Brawl. Fate of Hos’ Weave Unknown.

And there’s a detailed account of the festivities at Amanda Coyne’s blog: Hell Hath No Fury Like a Palin Family Visit.

As many of us have read, Bristol Palin was visited by a Floridian stalker on Sunday who somehow ended up on the family’s balcony. The stalker currently sits in jail. That’s pretty dramatic. But that’s the least of it. The night before, Saturday, was a doozy. The details are a little sketchy, but there’s enough of them, from enough different sources, that a story emerges, a story that according to the gossip Gods, looks kind of like this: There’s some sort of unofficial birthday/Iron Dog-type/snowmachine party in Anchorage. A nice, mellow party, until the Palin’s show up. There’s beer, of course, and maybe other things. Which is all fine, but just about the time when some people might have had one too many, a Track Palin stumbles out of a stretch Hummer, and immediately spots an ex-boyfriend of Willow’s. Track isn’t happy with this guy, the story goes. There’s words, and more. The owner of the house gets involved, and he probably wished he hadn’t. At this point, he’s up against nearly the whole Palin tribe: Palin women screaming. Palin men thumping their chests. Word is that Bristol has a particularly strong right hook, which she employed repeatedly, and it’s something to hear when Sarah screams, “Don’t you know who I am!” And it was particularly wonderful when someone in the crowd screamed back, “This isn’t some damned Hillbilly reality show!” No, it’s what happens when the former First Family of Alaska comes knocking. As people were leaving in a cab, Track was seen on the street, shirtless, flipping people off, with Sarah right behind him, and Todd somewhere in the foreground, tending to his bloody nose.

And it’s even been confirmed now by Anchorage PD: Anchorage Police Department Provides an Update and Case Number for the Throw Down at the Hoedown.

We can only hope and pray that someone yanked out their cell phone in time and got video of the fisticuffs. If it exists, you know it’s got to come out.

UPDATE at 9/11/14 5:39:09 pm by Charles Johnson

Amanda Coyne now has more details on the Palin family battle royale:

What I have heard since, without much trying, and what I knew then, is that the cops were called after the brawl. It’s confirmed that the Palins, all of them, were involved in some way involved in a fight at a house in Anchorage were a party was going it. Bristol’s son, Tripp was at the party. I have confirmed from multiple sources that Bristol punched someone repeatedly, and that charges might be filed. I spoke to a source yesterday who witnessed part of it. She said that some in the crowd were trying to restrain Sarah, who was clawing to get involved in the fight, which had moved to the cul-de-sac outside of the house. She was also screaming loudly. She wore platform high-tops with the American flag on them, and Bristol wore big, round shades. As I reported, Track was at some point in the night, shirtless.

The whole family arrived in a stretch Hummer limo, and had to be told to leave the house.

UPDATE at 9/12/14 7:32:25 am by Charles Johnson

More details now emerging:

As I had reported a few days ago, multiple accounts say that it started when Track confronted Willow’s former boyfriend, Conner Cleary, who was there with his father Steve and his mother Melissa. Thompson didn’t see this part, but other witnesses, who didn’t want to be named, say that Conner and Track fought on the front yard. Steve tried to break it up. Todd jumped into the mix and began to choke Steve.

After that ended, Conner, Steve, and Melissa Cleary huddled together close to Thompson, who spotted Bristol and Willow from a distance, walking straight towards them with purpose.

“They were on a b-line, coming straight at Melissa,” Thompson said.

The owner of the house, Klingenmeyer, was trying to head them off at the pass. He approached them and told them to leave. Bristol, according to Thompson and other witnesses, planted her feet, “stood straight up, brought her arm back and cold-cocked him right in the face,” Thompson said.

And then she did it again, about six more times, before he pushed her away, and she fell, and Todd appeared.

“I was thoroughly amazed at the restraint Korey showed. He’s a total gentlemen,” Thompson said.

Another melee. This time Sarah got involved and began to scream profanities at everyone. One source, who didn’t want to be named, said that she was “nearly crawling on top of people,” trying to get into the scrum.

At the party, Bristol and Willow wore their big sunglasses and behaved like little Hollywood starlets, and according to our well informed source, they both got totally drunk. The situation continued get worse, and it got to the point where Bristol started a fight with the host Chris, and Bristol punched him repeatedly. Amanda Coyne alludes to this, when she said: “Word is that Bristol has a particularly strong right hook, which she employed repeatedly.”

An update…

Hi Griffin ,

What I am able to share with you at this time is the following:

Case: 14-36989

On Saturday, September 6, 2014 just before midnight Anchorage police responded to a report of a verbal and physical altercation taking place between multiple subjects outside of a residence located on the 900 block of Harbor Circle . A preliminary investigation by police revealed that a party had been taking place at a nearby residence and a fight had broken out between multiple subjects outside of the residence. None of the involved parties wanted to press charges at the time of the incident and no arrests were made. Alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the incident. Some of the Palin family members were in attendance at the party.

This case is still pending, therefore, I’m unable to provide any further details or information in the police reports at this time.

Thank you,

I don’t think I’ve “liked” more comments in any story in the past 6 months. This story is hilAAAAAArious.

At our Fortune 500 company, a man called down to our floor and someone picked up the phone. It was long after 5pm so most people had left for the day. The man demanded to speak to a senior vp. The woman who’d answered the phone politely said he’d left for the day. The guy on the phone demanded that the person go find them and bring them to the phone. The woman responded that she couldn’t do that.

The man started screaming at her at said “do you know who I am? Do you? Well I’m [name], and I’m chairman of this company. That’s who I am!”

And the women who answered the phone, who was a very smart long term employee, said “well I’m the Maria the temp and I don’t give a f***”, and hung up on him.

My hero.

I’m done spending money on APS-C, planning to buy a d810 as a Christmas gift to myself. Also since all the features you bolded are focused on video why not get a dedicated video rig like one of the Blackmagic bodies? That way you could capture in 2.5 or 4K. Do you shoot a lot of fast action and need the servo autofocus or could you get there with depth of field?

The only new thing I see there is the 60fps, which a 2.5 or 4K camera could do in 1080 anyway.

re: #173 Islamo-Masonic Conspirator

My general advice is that we’re some years past the time when the typical user really need to spec-shop. I care a hell of a lot more about fit and finish and general feel.

Go play around with many physical models at Costco or Fry’s Electronics or Microcenter or whatever you have in your area. Find out what feels nice, then check reviews online before you spend the cash.

10% more processor speed will not matter in the slightest compared to a nasty flexy spongey keyboard that will MAKE YOU GO ALL CRAZYPANTS if you have to, you know, actually interact with your machine.

Pretty much anything you can buy will be fine.

[…] This is going to be a very expensive war, and Victory is not guaranteed — for anyone, and certainly not for anyone as baffled as George W. Bush. All he knows is that his father started the war a long time ago, and that he, the goofy child-President, has been chosen by Fate and the global Oil industry to finish it Now. He will declare a National Security Emergency and clamp down Hard on Everybody, no matter where they live or why. If the guilty won’t hold up their hands and confess, he and the Generals will ferret them out by force.

Good luck. He is in for a profoundly difficult job — armed as he is with no credible Military Intelligence, no witnesses and only the ghost of Bin Laden to blame for the tragedy[…]

OK, maybe a stupid question, but still… I need a new Windows notebook, it’s been a while since I bought the old one. Which brand would you recommend? Which processors are “average good” nowadays? I would need that both for “heavy use” programs like AutoCAD, as well as for games, not necessarily the latest ones. That is, I don’t need the maximum speed, but still something decent.

If you go Sony (which I never will again), don’t do a custom build model. I had to get the BBB involved after they were unwilling to honor their commitment to onsite service for my custom configuration and I ended up with a refund.

The last one I bought before the Surface was an HP, which I was reasonably happy with. The husband is fond of Lenovo. If you end up going with Win8, a touchscreen does make a big difference and is worth considering.

I’m not up to date on the latest processors so I can’t offer specifics there.

re: #175 Testy Toad T

Winner Winner. I actually spent a fair amount of time just evaluating the keyboards, placement, feel. I’m really picky about things like that, and a few were just awful.

FWIW, I’m rather fond of ASUS, but YMMV.

If I had the 60, I would not upgrade either. My 7D is running really well but it’s specs are becoming a limitation. I worry about a sudden breakdown at a paid video shoot. The focus is terribly slow in video. Literally seconds pass while it hunts. I expect much better out of the Mark II.

Our oldest digital camera is the 40D, on it’s second shutter and flash actuator. I’m pretty excited to use two DSLR’s on video shoots and relegate the two GoPros to hazardous circumstances where I dare not use a DSLR.

I just got a new Macook Pro Retina last week, the 15” 2.5Ghz quad-core i7. I know you are looking for a Windows machine and probably aren’t interested in Apple at all but I also run a Windows partition via Boot Camp for the few programs I have that don’t have Mac versions. This thing is amazing.

All the new high resolution laptops offer incredible image clarity however, here’s the top five.

The fight originally started after Bristol, with her sunglasses still on at about 11.00 pm and visibly drunk, approached the host (the owner of the house, not Marc McKenna) and “complained” to him that some people at the party “want to have a go at Willow.” The host then tried to assure Bristol that this was not the case, but Bristol had none of it and started to punch the host in the face. The host then held up his hands in defence, and push her back slightly, and drunk Bristol then fell to the floor, and her dress was “up” about her waist. The host did not hit Bristol, but just defended himself.

Bristol then started shouting for Todd. He came over, and watched the situation. At this point, he did not intervene.

The host tried again to calm Bristol down, but she continued punching out at him. So then the host carried Bristol out of the house and demanded that every member of the Palin-family should leave the party. Then everything kicked off, Todd got angry, Track ripped his shirt off and got angry, the fighting started again, and Todd at the end was left with a bloody nose. All this happened outside of the house.

Sarah was there at the party as well when it all happened.

The Blackmagic bodies are a work in progress. Not really ready for prime time. I have been talking about camera options with local cinema/TV rental houses in town. Those guys really know how various cameras perform on set. They still suggest a more reliable camera the Blackmagics come back with issues a lot.

And since I still do enough serious still photography a full time video cam was not a great option. The Canon video cameras that take my glass are way over my budget. Oh I’d love a C series but not making that kinda money yet. the C100 is $5000!

I think I will skip over 2.5K. Even 4k may fall in the face of ultra HD which has the color depth 4k lacks. When I need to shoot ultra or 4k I’ll rent a Red. So many unsettled issues at the leading edge. Frame rates, work flow, ugh.

The way computers are built these days, go to Woot and get the cheapest one that meets your tech needs (HDD size, RAM, etc.) Better to get cheap than fantastic. I bought a just-under-gamer level HP machine and first off, hated how it felt under my fingers (Dell, I have to say, has the best keyboards). And that HP machine just never lived up to my expectations. I was sorry I got it 6 months after. And it cost $1500 bucks.

My next personal computer will be from Woot. I got one for my MIL, cost $200 and has not given her one ounce of trouble (after it was initially setup).

I don’t think I will ever cough up a ton of cash for a machine again.

Oh, and get a hard drive large enough for expansion…just in case you do keep it for 5 years.

FWIW and YMMV

Pretty sure. Otherwise media companies would be pitching a fit about link shortening.

The only way to fix this would be to somehow automatically insert rel=”nofollow” into the links tweets contain after they load. We could suggest this to Charles, he’d know if it was feasible / advisable or not.

Yep. Bill claims that he is ticked that they aren’t allowing his hand picked anti-abortion group march. Considering that the entire Catholic Church is an anti-abortion group I think that there is probably more than he is letting on.

A note to readers about the Palin family brawl

I wrote about the Saturday-night Palin family brawl in my Loose Lips column—my version of a gossip column-hoping that some other news source, preferably a local news source, would pick it up, and run with it. I’m a one-woman show here. I’m the writer, the editor, and the business manager, and I’m trying to cover the state’s political races. As I write this, I’m at a health care conference in Girdwood, trying to learn as much as I can about why healthcare costs are so astronomically high in Alaska, when they have appeared to be declining elsewhere. (Expect a post on that later). All this is to say that I have little time to track down the details of the brawl. And even if I did, I’d probably pass. I spent many years covering Palin. It’s a rabbit hole every time.

But I thought I should update, because people seem to really want to know. Frankly, I would too if I were them, and weren’t at a health care conference, etc… So, here it goes: What I have heard since, without much trying, and what I knew then, is that the cops were called after the brawl.

That’s what I know. Stay tuned, no doubt, for more.

A while ago a new supermarket opened.
It has an automatic water mister to keep the produce fresh.
Just before it goes on, you hear the sound of distant thunder and
the smell of fresh rain.
When you pass the milk cases, you hear cows mooing and there is
the scent of freshly mowed hay.
In the meat department there is the aroma of charcoal grilled
steaks with onions..
When you approach the egg case, you hear hens clucking and
cackling, and the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon
and eggs frying.
The bread department features the tantalizing smell of fresh baked
bread and cookies.
I don’t buy toilet paper there anymore…

Moar Palin!

From the same place.

Witnesses, APD confirm Palin family was present at Anchorage party that turned violent

(…)

Blogger Amanda Coyne reported Wednesday that the Palins were at the center of the fight. Coyne cites anonymous sources who described a shirtless Track Palin, Bristol Palin throwing punches and former Gov. Sarah Palin screaming during the melee. The reports have been widely re-circulated on national sites, including Wonkette and Gawker.

Neighbor Charles Fryer attended the party, which he described as a joint birthday party for four people, including Todd Palin. He said Sarah Palin was at the party.

Fryer said the party was “basically peaceable” until the fight occurred around 11 p.m. He heard commotion in front of the house and stepped outside to check it out.

He described the fight as a dog pile “just like you see in a football game.”

Fryer didn’t know who was involved. “I’m too old to fool with that stuff,” he said.

On her Facebook page, Sarah Palin posted that she was traveling on Saturday.

One commenter, Kimberley Vranckaert-Trujillo, claimed to be a witness to the incident, writing in the post thread: “Interesting….pretty sure you were not traveling and you and family were on the Southside causing chaos. Saw it happen. Don’t fib.”

The Palin family could not be reached for comment.

I was already pissed at PayPal for mishandling my attempt to change my funding source for payments. I closed my old bank account and added the new one to my PP account. Unfortunately, during the window between these two actions (a few minutes) they attempted to collect a small payment I forgot was due. They attempted to charge this to the old account and it was refused. It was impossible for them to charge it to the new account a few minutes later, as competent firms have done since computers were invented, so I had to call their collections center and pay them directly. They never answered their phone. I attempted to transfer money directly into the PayPal account and that’s when they hit me with this demand with documents signed in blood and notarized by God himself. After a couple of hours of back and forth with various incredibly obtuse morons, I finally got he original bill (all of $12.53) paid with my new bank account.

Yahoo said Thursday the government threatened to fine the company
$250,000 a day if it did not comply with demands to go along with an
expansion of U.S. surveillance by surrendering online information, a
step the company regarded as unconstitutional.

The outlines of Yahoo’s secret and ultimately unsuccessful court fight
against government surveillance emerged when a federal judge ordered the
unsealing of some material about Yahoo’s court challenge.

In a statement, Yahoo said the government amended a law to demand user
information from online services, prompting a challenge in 2007 during
the George W. Bush administration.

“Our challenge, and a later appeal in the case, did not succeed,” Yahoo general counsel Ron Bell said in a statement.

re: #408 Rev_Arthur_Belling

Would you care to summarize? I’m not giving GG’s playhouse any clicks.

He is trying to make the case that instead of Obama calling out for war that he was really making a case for limited action:

From the article he quotes Juan Cole:

But what if Obama is talking big but carrying a soft stick? What if he really does mean he has a Yemen-like situation in mind?…

What if Obama is a sharper reader of the Middle East than his critics give him credit for? He knows ISIL is likely not going away, just as, after 13 years, the Taliban have not. US military action may even prolong the lifetime of these groups…

Don’t listen to his expansive four-stage program or his retooled, stage-managed John Wayne rhetoric. Look at his metaphors. He is telling those who have ears to hear that he is pulling a Yemen in Iraq and Syria. He knows very well what that implies.

and this tweet:

Not really sure if Froomkin or I am buying what he is selling but I like the approach anyways:

One could argue that in the speech, Obama was trying to make that something he had to do as un-stupid as the fevered, blood-lusting political elites would let him get away with.

This was not going to be a huge deal, he indicated. He called it an “effort,” not a war, and stressed that “this effort will be different from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil.”

firstlook.org
and he ends it with this :

But he’s been pretty consistent about not getting the country mired in another land war, if he can help it.
