I guess Charles changed “proofs” to “proves” it in the title. That was my attempt at humor. Also thanks for the improved picture.

Typical Drudge bullshit. I do have to say they could have framed the image better. You always pay attention to what’s in the background of your shot.

Top story at the Drudge report. Thank goodness nothing important is happening in the world right now.

We’re in a world of clickbait. Photographers for media companies look for these kinds of shots - it would not surprise me if the photographer tipped off Matt Drudge directly.

Not an accident.

The Bush Administration later sought an agreement with the
Iraqi government, and in 2008 George W. Bush signed the U.S.-Iraq Status of Forces Agreement. It included a deadline of 31 December 2011, before which “all the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory”.[12][13][14] The last U.S. troops left Iraq on 18 December 2011, in accordance with this agreement

So I dusted off my copy of the Lemegeton and called up Dantalion, 71st of the 72 spirits of Solomon, who commands thirty-six legions and knows the thoughts of all people and can change them at his will.

This story checks out.

I didn’t watch the address. I just figured it was a screenshot from the video feed. Still, not the best place to position the president for that address. I figure he’d have been in that room where he walks down the long hallway to the podium (the one with the red carpet.)

(and most of those photogs have their cameras on speed shutter, so they’re bound to get weird facial expressions. I have a pet peeve about those photogs who use their motor drive at events like a press conference. I understand it in sports, where the action is fast paced, but you can fire off one shot at a time and get perfectly acceptable photos of a person standing still talking. It’s lazy.)

That’s the thing about wingnut talking points. Even after they die, they keep on shambling around aimlessly, feeding on the brains of unsuspecting low-information voters.

He wouldn’t have done that. Sarah Palin was picked in large part to mollify James Dobson, who was threatening a revolt if McCain went with his first choice, Joe Lieberman. Mitt Romney was seen as far too moderate in the summer of 2008 to have placated Dobson. Had McCain chosen Romney, Dobson would have told his followers to sit out the election.

That outcome would not have been good, IMO. A GOP fracture of that kind would have made any barrier to Obama enacting his full agenda unlikely. And as a conservative, I believe that outcome would have been very bad.

In another tech story the right will gin up the outrage Yahoo really fought the good fight on giving up the metadata. They took it as far as they could.
BBC

According to court documents, the National Security Agency (NSA) had demanded that Yahoo comply with new surveillance rules, something the company said was unconstitutional.

Yahoo failed in a court challenge on the constitutionality of the order.

But the details emerged on Thursday when a federal judge ordered the unsealing of some material about case.
