Good Morning America Interviews Witness to Palin Family’s Drunken Brawl - Witness Then Fired From Job

“Bristol just reached back and started clockin’ him”

This morning, ABC’s Good Morning America interviewed an eyewitness to the Palin family’s drunken brawl at a party in Anchorage — who was reportedly fired from his job after the interview aired.

The witness, Eric Thompson, reportedly worked at the company for whose owners this party was organized — which raises the question: did the Palins pull strings to get Thompson fired?

Well since Alaska is a Employment at will/Right to Work State, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if some strings didn’t get pulled.

Did Todd really need Mickey to cut him?

Did Track really strip down?

I think TMZ would mortgage the moon for it. But would this really hurt the Palin’s? I think their base would love them even more.

I saw that this morning, and is it just me, or does it sound like it was the Palins who called the cops? I also heard(and this is only second hand, so take it for what it is) that Sarah and Todd offered money to a couple of people for their phones, but no one took them up on it.

If I were a Palin, I think I’d go STFU and sit somewhere and STFU some more for awhile. But I doubt we’ll get that lucky. I however cannot wait for the videos to come out, they should be comedy gold for awhile.

I’m still hoping for a profanity-laced cell video of Palin to turn up. Maybe with some direct threats to ruin people’s lives.

We all know that in an unguarded moment, Palin would be perfectly capable of doing all of this.

33 Targetpractice  Sep 12, 2014 11:11:41am

I know that there are those who say Princess Dumbass of the North Woods is given way too much attention, to which I suggest they stop and consider that this woman has fashioned herself in recent elections as a kingmaker, as someone within the TP movement whose endorsement brings the money in. Making her as radioactive as possible works in the long run because that rubs off on candidates. Anything that would render her endorsement as a kiss of death to a candidate is worth at least a few minutes of discussion (and derision).

Track Palin and his high school sweetheart, Britta Hanson, may have jointly pulled the trigger on their marriage, but he’s the one keeping the guns.

According to TMZ, the estranged couple — who filed for divorce on December 1 — has already hammered out the terms of their settlement. Sarah Palin’s 23-year-old son will keep his $1,000 gun collection and a $30,000 bank account. Hanson, 22, will get her $2,500 bank account and $4,000 jewelry collection.

The former couple will share legal custody of their 1-year-old daughter Kyla, but Hanson will retain physical custody.

No, you’re right, that’s him.

Bristol is the one who got preggers and had to drop out of high school. Willow’s the one who broke into somebody’s house while they were out of town and threw a party so raucous the police had to come break it up (and arrest Willow and some of her friends for B&E, trespass, underage drinking, etc.) Piper’s the one who’s too young to have gotten in trouble yet, Trig is the one who’s been invisible since he’s no longer needed as a pro-life campaign prop.

Investors Haul in Nearly Half the Tobacco Settlement Cash

Each April, cigarette manufacturers pay states billions of dollars to reimburse them for the health-care costs of smoking. About $100 billion has been paid so far, all under a landmark 1998 legal settlement with Big Tobacco. The payments are to go on forever as long as people smoke.

Much of the money, however, doesn’t go to government coffers anymore. As ProPublica reported last month, a large chunk now flows to investors - the result of deals that politicians and Wall Street bankers arranged to get cash up-front by trading away the tobacco income decades into the future.

How much are investors getting? About 44 percent, or nearly one in every two dollars the tobacco companies pay out each year, an updated analysis by ProPublica shows.

How Wall Street Tobacco Deals Left States With Billions in Toxic Debt

How Tobacco Bonds Work, and What Can Go Wrong

States decided to pull a lump sum payment to balance their budgets, rather than take the annual payments, thinking that this would benefit them in the long term. Turns out that they couldn’t manage the windfall any better than the lotto jackpot winners do. They ran through the money and are now paying for it.

But the banks that did these deals with the states make out like bandits.

You can get a WW II Italian or Japanese piece of sh*t worn out rifle for 70 dollars at most gun shows.

Anything nicer then that and you have to start putting down some real cash.

An American army M-1 Garand rifle from WW II in decent condition? $1200 easy. Any Savage or Remington .30-06 or 7MM mag deer rifle with scope will set you back 400 to 500.

I took a ~3 mile hike along some trails at Fort Donelson while on vacation. I cleared just about every orb weaver web across that trail other than the few I noticed in time and dodged around.

Had 4-6 of them hitch-hiking on the brim of my hat at once. And was wiping webs and spiders off myself constantly. Luckily, none of them were the real monster ones like you see in gardens and marsh reeds.

Also saw an interesting sight while driving along I-70 one morning on the same trip. “Fuzzy” looking plants along the median — and then I realized it was scads of small orb webs on the foot high grass with dew on them that were reflecting the morning light just right.

On Monday, Cathy died at the age of 93. He was involved in the day-to-day operations of the company well into his 80s; his son Dan is now the president and chairman. Before he died, he created a contract with his children stating that the company should never go public; theoretically, transferring ownership out of the family could jeopardize the business’s overtly religious mission statement “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us” and “to have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.”

And when he does, the wingnutosphere will come out in droves to support him. UpChuck will search for dirt on the victim, DimJim will find fake photos to show the guy had it coming - particularly if he was black - and the entire Drudge/Fox/Limbaugh freak show will be coming to a town near you.

The rest of the media will just fall in lockstep behind them, hoping to find some crumbs left on the ground.

At this point, and hearing what he allegedly said to the other driver. I think he may find himself on the wrong end of a stand-your-ground situation.

Attorneys for the state argue that McQuire hasn’t suffered irreparable harm because state law lets him get an amended death certificate at some point in the future if he ends up winning the case.

So they’re causing him ongoing harm, and their intention is to cause him irreparable harm, but until the court rules in their favor the harm isn’t irreparable so he shouldn’t be able to sue on that basis? The shittiest, most fatuous argument imaginable.

The state’s lawyers also make a broad argument that the ban doesn’t discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation and instead distinguishes between heterosexual couples and all other relationships, such as same-sex couples and polyamorous relationships.

But with no rational basis for that distinction. Two party marriage has a single, binary testimonial and confidence privilege, a single relationship for the purposes of inheritance, tax, property ownership, medical power of attorney, and the host of other privileges marriage confers. Multiple marriage on the other hand creates an unmanageably complex array of overlapping privilege permutations. A three person marriage goes from one to three relationships, a four person marriage has six, five creates ten, six is fifteen. A thirty person marriage has 435 separate two-way privilege permutations. Ignoring the obvious tax abuse and never ending wealth accumulation problems such arrangements would create, the rest of the privileges would create an unnavigable legal labyrinth.

They contend the ban furthers the state’s interest in connecting children to both of their biological parents.

Yeah, that’s patently a bullshit claim, otherwise the State wouldn’t allow no fault divorce. Nor would it allow parents to give infants up for adoption or for divorced spouses to move away to another state.

Nope, no violence problem in pro sports, nope, move along people, just move along…

I know that full contact sports are violent, because you’re hitting someone. There’s head injury and performance enhancing drugs that may be at play here as well. BUT, and trust me, I am in no way at ALL excusing this shit, I’m a survivor of DV, but I think the biggest contributing factor here is not all that complicated:

Athletes in this culture are revered way out of proportion to what they do. They’re also paid way out of proportion to their importance. With money and fame come a cloak of infallibility and it’s truly astonishing to me the lengths some people will go to defending the actions of “their” team or some athlete they like. Like they aren’t to be held to any regular standard. If a teammate or a guy on another team gets away with being an abusive douchebag, then it sends a message that it’s just fine to do it. Since most of these guys don’t suffer anything more than a slap on the wrist, of course this shit is going to be rampant. It’s a club, an exclusive one worth a lot of money. I don’t think it’s much more complicated than that. It’s a magnified version of the culture at large, which doesn’t value women and girls, doesn’t believe rape and incest victims, etc. It’s amazing it doesn’t happen MORE than it does with how it’s treated like it’s some thing guys just do.

Maddow had a run down on two currently active NFL players who are dealing with domestic abuse cases right now. One guy for the Panthers was actually convicted this year, and both the NFL and Carolina have been like, “Yeah, but whaddya gonna do?” and let the guy keep on playing.

Really re-thinking my football schedule this year.

Rae Carruth will be getting out of prison in a couple years, looks like he can go back to his old home.

Conservative journalist or up-and-coming supervillian? You decide.

One implies competence. The other doesn’t.

Someone posted a tweet about this the other day but I was too busy to read it at the moment. I just got around to reading it. Key bits follow.

(Reuters) - The U.S. government wants conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza to be sentenced to as much as 16 months in prison, following his guilty plea to a campaign finance law violation.

In a Wednesday court filing, federal prosecutors rejected defense arguments that D’Souza was “ashamed and contrite” about his crime, had “unequivocally accepted responsibility,” and deserved a sentence of probation with community service.

It also said D’Souza waited to “the last possible moment” prior to trial before admitting guilt, and then went on TV shows and the Internet to complain about being “selectively” targeted for prosecution, and having little choice but to plead guilty.

“Based on the defendant’s own post-plea statements, the court should reject the defendant’s claims of contrition on the eve of sentencing,” prosecutors led by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara in Manhattan said in the filing.

That recommendation also contained many statements of support, including from conservative commentator and Dartmouth alumnus Laura Ingraham, and even sometime adversaries such as the literary theorist Stanley Fish.

Breaks the law, shows bullshit contrition, and lies about it.

And conservatives who are oh-so-concerned about breaking laws send letters of support.

I guess laws are only to be followed by liberals. If you’re a conservative, FTW! Grrrrrrr.

I have a degree in psych. I can state my opinion make an official internet diagnosis. Zimmermann is a sociopath with psychopathic tendencies.

I saw him on the teevee machine so, like the doctors in Congress (vis a vis Terry Schivo) I am fully qualified to state my opinion make an official internet diagnosis.

I’m an Internet proctologist, and I say he’s an asshole.

reading more, it’s sounding like he crossed the line from discipline to abuse if the injuries were that bad. I am not against spanking or even using a belt or “switch” (which is basically a rod or cane) but there is a line between discipline and abuse.

I am not a big fan of corporeal punishment (having been on the receiving end more than once). But leaving welts and bruises is way over the line. That said, a swat on the ass or a slap on the head (doing a Gibbs) is one thing. Leaving marks is another thing all together.

I was spanked as a kid, when that didn’t work I got the belt, once, after that I never wanted it again and all it took was threats. That said as a consensual participant in alternative lifestyles I think a cane/switch is pushing it. They not only leave welts but tend to break skin.

I have no real problem with corporal punishment but there is a fine line between discipline and abuse.

Take a nap. You deserve it! Enjoy!

There is working work to be done, which is why my sister is sending me videos of frat boys doing a lipsync to the new Taylor Swift single.

Ugh, yes.

Open wounds and bruises is child abuse in my book.

I remember my father saying “I know how not to leave marks” as an implied threat in case I ever tried reporting them for giving me a (well deserved) spanking (with hands or a belt) and there never was a mark and I did learn my lesson.

This is beyond that though. I cringe when I see heavy bottoms getting marks like this and they are consenting to it.

Yes, there is. And one of the factors that come into play is anger. Never discipline out of anger or frustration. Whether it is a child, an adult or even an animal. It clouds your mind. Step back, cool down and think about what you are going to do. Does the punishment equal the offense? 9 times out of 10, if the decision is made in the heat of the moment, the answer is no.

Slap on the head is completely unacceptable.

I was spanked, smacked on the head with hands, books, anything in hand really, I was also given not only the belt but the belt buckle.
