The soundtrack for the Palin Brawl simply must be Yakety Sax. The internet should provide this in due course, if video ever comes out.

Well, a conservative media outlet has said something about #PalinBrawl.

Chant it with me! WE. WANT. THE VIDEO. WE. WANT. THE VIDEO.

I’ll just bring it back to the video itself… I’m a huge BF5 fan, and only recently came across the website a few weeks ago. Love the commentary, and even better with some Ben thrown in!

And now back to our regularly scheduled – and appropriate – Pail bashing. ; )

“This thing came out of nowhere,” Derrick Skou said. “I was thinking it was a good day until then.”

The bat would say Skou was the one who came out of nowhere onto in his territory. Well, make that former territory, since they killed it.

I wonder sometimes if we had really dealt with our history, the slavery, the extermination of the American Indians and all the rest of it if things would be different on any level now.

And the current GOP “leadership” needs a collective kick in the nuts for allowing the bullshit they’ve allowed to gain a foothold. Congratulations for getting neighbors to hate each other, to distrust each other and then making it easier for them to hoard guns. Nice work, assholes.

I’m having a hard time forgiving this shit anymore. If these assholes would focus on making life better for the largest number of people possible we could all be doing much better. I’m so sick of it.

If that’s what they want and they get it then they will soon after be very, VERY, sorry. Because they aren’t up to fighting on the level of the US or UK, not at all. Even they just end up fighting some of our support or security troops, we will crush them!

Commenting on a new ICM poll for the Sunday Telegraph which puts Yes at 54 per cent and No at 46 per cent - and an Opinium poll for the Observer which puts Yes at 47 per cent and No at 53 per cent - Blair Jenkins, chief executive of Yes Scotland, said: ‘The new ICM poll gives Yes a record eight-point lead, which is hugely encouraging. Meanwhile, Opinium puts Yes behind, but just by six points.

On the streets, everyone I know or speak to is reporting anecdotally that YES seems to have it by a huge margin. A lot of people are voting in this referendum - I think it’s 97.5% of the population that have registered to vote in it - which is phenomenal - and this includes a lot of people who have never voted before (having hitherto felt disenfranchised by the westminster system) and are not being tracked by the opinion polls. Be prepared for a big surprise.

Like everyone else I know I have succumbed to hope and of course, if we don’t get the YES vote this time I’ll be absolutely gutted. But I think we will, despite having the entire UK press and political establishment against us.

I watched a guy piss on the tire of my car from inside of a gas station one afternoon. I bought a 20 oz. bottle of diet coke then drove to the parking lot across the street where he’d walked, rolled my window down, squeezed the bottle and shot about half the coke onto his shirt. Luckily, nothing got into my way while I high-tailed it out of the parking lot. It was a stupid thing to do and I’m very lucky that I didn’t get held up in traffic or it would have been ugly for me.

A couple years later I had a going-away party when I was laid off of a job. One of my co-workers said to the whole group that the coke incident was the story that he was going to remember me most for. He thought it was the funniest story ever.

I think in Scotland we’re just not so obsessed with the whole issue of EU membership as they are in England. Of course the NO or ‘Better Together’ campaign and their supporters will tell us that an Independent Scotland in the EU would violate the laws of physics, but we are not idiots or babies, and know that new countries do not get spurned to death by the outside world just for going through a democratic process and daring to exist. We’re really more concerned with making sure we never get another right wing government imposed upon us against our voting wishes ever again. Or if we ever do, it’ll be because we actually voted for it ourselves, which (although undesirable and also pretty unlikely for the forseeable future) would at least be fair.

It means that because we don’t howl for an all out war against “Islam” that we support Islamic terrorists. The meme is that because we believe that atheists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, and people of all other faiths can co-exist we are blindly enabling the terrorists.

They want a holy war but they have no idea what they are asking for, one does not declare unconditional war on 1.6 billion fellow human beings. Who would be our allies? Who else would support our “Christianist” based insanity?

We would of course bankrupt ourselves completely while turning practically the entire world against us. We would lose, but don’t bother them with the facts, the “America, fuck yeah!” crowd doesn’t deal in those. :(

I’m thinking of getting a cooling pad for some involved graphics applications and gaming at home on my new Macbook Pro. The quad core processor and NVIDIA card can put out an alarming number of BTUs when running full bore. It never shuts down, but that thin strip of aluminum above the keyboard can get almost uncomfortable to touch.

It’s the usual “end the Fed!” malarkey, with the odd touch of the use of a silver coin instead of a gold coin. Maybe he’s a William Jennings Bryan fan. ;)

The farmers liked silver because there is much more of it. Still not enough to run a modern economy but enough that it would grow the economy of 1900 far beyond what gold could as was proven by the economics of WWI.

The ad about powdered butter reminded me of when margarine was first sold as a butter substitute and could not be sold colored to look like real butter. The margarine packaged had a small pouch of yellow die that you would have to mix into the white margarine. What a mess mixing the coloring by hand.

My great uncle was a chemist at the U-West Virginia and was responsible for inventing yellow coloring that could be put into the “oleo” when it was made. Wisconsin wasn’t too happy about him - doubly ironic since he grew up here on the family farm

The ignorance of specie money. It’s only real because it’s metal? Sorry dude but there isn’t enough precious metal in the world to run any modern economy (much less the whole world’s) unless you want to let the President start minting those 1 Trillion dollar face value Platinum coins with moon rock in the center.

The other thing is that it’s a short step from ignorance about inflation to blaming it all on “international” bankers < spit >

It’s hearsay on my part, but I have read that there is a direct correlation between how long countries took to pull out of the Great Depression, and how stuck they were on the gold standard.

Even so, I know more than one person who just can’t grasp the concept that paper money is a perfectly sound medium of exchange in any stable country and metal backed coinage restricts economic growth.

Glad to see you back. As I’m mulling over what laptop to buy, may I ask for yours’ specs?

It was just an inexpensive one ($250) for backup purposes since my MBP is also unusable right now—a very basic Dell, minimal specs: 15.6-inches, a Celeron dual core processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, no optical drive, and no cat5 or bluetooth connection (only wi-fi), and no USB 3.0 ports. Oh, and a bunch of software I don’t need or want, so I had to get rid of a bunch of stuff.

That said, it performs okay for doing basic webdev stuff (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.), but I wouldn’t try to do a complex InDesign layout, process video, render 3D, or run games with intense graphics on it. It beats the hell outta trying to do stuff on an iPad or an ancient ThinkPad though. ;-)

Yeah, anybody who thinks that a person’s pay is based upon the actual value they add to a company is high on their own supply of derp. Virtually every bit of the rise in production and value since 1981 has gone to the people at the top of the food chain. Wages have remained stagnant or even dropped over the past 30+ years.

Last night I watched Dorothea Lange: Grab a Hunk of Lightning on PBS online. It was really, really good—very eye-opening to see the Depression, the New Deal, WWII, the internment of Japanese Americans, migrant farm workers, etc. through her eyes. It was a BIG reality check.

If anyone isn’t familiar with Lange, she’s the photographer that took what is probably one of the most famous, iconic American photos of all time:

Migrant Mother

At the level Obama is talking about, we should be able to keep supporting the fighting indefinitely. Maybe new government revenues will have to be found, but the US has a robust enough economy to hold the line.

And I’ve never said the US can destroy Radical Islamism. We can’t; Muslims have to do that. But if we want to keep what we hold dear, we’re going to have to fight to buy them the time to do the hard political and cultural work needed to end Radical Islamism.

I hear you, TP, I really do. But we can’t just ‘declare peace’ and walk away. ISIS, Al Qaeda, and their ilk will not let us do that in the long run. They want to conquer the whole world, TP, not just those nations that are currently Muslim.

It must be something in the air. Yesterday I was coming home on the bus after picking up some groceries. The bus driver asked a woman to either pay or get off the bus. It escalated to a point where the bus driver honked her horn to get two cops to take the woman off of the bus. I got off when the back door opened and the cops were trying to reason with the woman. I walked one mile to get home and did not have to endure what was happening on that bus.

ISIS has done more damage to its standing than our bombs have. The discussion we do not seem to be having, in fact seem to junk every time a beheading has happened, is “Is ISIS as strong as it makes itself out?” And from all appearances, the answer is “No.” They do not have the manpower to control the land they claim as theirs and the only way they seem capable right now of maintaining power is through the threat of violence. So every time we engage in a fever dream about how ISIS is going to attack us and carry out another 9/11, we lose sight of just how pathetic they really are.
