St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch Denies Raising Money for Darren Wilson

Backstoppers says they will not accept money to support Wilson
US News • Views: 46,191

We have an update on our post from last night about the fundraising effort that was apparently linked to an organization led by St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert P. McCulloch; Backstoppers Inc. now denies having anything to do with it.

Leaders of The Backstoppers Inc., which raises money to financially support families of fallen emergency responders who die in the line of duty, do not know who is selling T-shirts that read: “I support Officer Darren Wilson,” and will not be accepting any money from the sales if it is offered, said Executive Director Ron Battelle.

Social media sites began circulating rumors this past weekend that profits from the T-shirts would benefit Backstoppers as well as a fundraising website for Wilson, who shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson. Some claimed the move was a conflict of interest for St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch.

So there you have it; but I do want to point out that this was more than just an unsubstantiated “rumor,” since the page at teespring.com specifically says donations from T-shirt purchases will go to Backstoppers.

Fine, one less on a longish list of why someone else needs to handle the matters at hand in terms of the Brown shooting and how that trigger happy police department conducts itself.

How much money does a guy who is not and probably never will be charged with anything need? Didn’t he make a million off of a kickstarter anyway?

re: #2 Rightwingconspirator

Actually, I wouldn’t check that off the list because it’s part of a pattern of carelessness at best, and outright conflict of interest and supporting someone who is a target of a criminal investigation at (almost) worst. A prosecutor has a sworn duty to be part of the judicial process and not be on the side of the criminal, if that’s what he wants to do, then he should quit and become a criminal defense attorney. He really should be fired, yesterday, for the way he’s handled this whole thing, and not just him either.

Five days before the New Zealand election, Kim Dotcom paid for Greenwald to travel to Dotcom’s political party’s event, and also arranged for Assange and Snowden to appear remotely.

CNN: Snowden, Assange, Greenwald, Dotcom: Can this gang of four take down a PM?

NSA leaker Edward Snowden accused New Zealand Prime Minister John Key of misleading the public over the country’s spying activities, as the nation’s explosive election campaign reached a crescendo Monday.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald, who broke the NSA leaks story, appeared in Auckland alongside Dotcom, lawyer Robert Amsterdam, and Laila Harre, the leader of the political party founded by Dotcom, while Snowden and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange spoke via video-link.

Reuters: Glenn Greenwald And Edward Snowden Are Shaking Up A New Zealand Election

Dotcom, who is fighting extradition to the United States on charges of internet piracy, copyright breaches, and money laundering, has paid for Greenwald’s trip to New Zealand.

Greenwald appeared at a public meeting of more than 1,000 people organized by a political party being bankrolled by Dotcom, at which the ebullient German had promised revelations damaging to Key.

A little background on who they’ve all hitched their wagons to:

Ars Technica: Mega-man: The fast, fabulous, fraudulent life of Megaupload’s Kim Dotcom

In the early 1990s, Schmitz used a little hacker cred and the growing paranoia over the powers of computer hackers and phreakers to launch a media-powered cybersecurity career. …

Giving his hacker handle “Kimble” (which he later claimed was taken from the name of the main character in the film The Fugitive), and claiming to be the leader of an international hacker group called Dope, Schmitz said he had hacked hundreds of US companies’ PBX systems and was selling the access codes at $200 a pop, bragging that “every PBX is an open door to me.” He also claimed to have developed an encrypted phone that could not be tapped, and to have sold a hundred of them.

In his 2001 interview with the Telegraph, he also claimed to have hacked Citibank and transferred $20 million to Greenpeace, a claim refuted by Greenpeace, which had a total operating budget of just twice that in the mid-1990s. (While Citi was hacked in 1996, it was by a group of Russian hackers—and they certainly didn’t donate the money to charity.) He also claimed to have hacked NASA and said that he had accessed Pentagon systems to read top-secret information on Saddam Hussein during the Gulf War.

There’s no record to substantiate most of this; perhaps some of it is true. What he did do was steal phone calling card codes and conduct a premium number fraud similar to the recent rash of Filipino phreaking frauds. He bought stolen phone card account information from American hackers. After setting up premium toll chat lines in Hong Kong and in the Caribbean, he used a “war dialer” program to call the lines using the stolen card numbers—ringing up EUR 61,000 in ill-gained profits.

Schmitz was also playing pirate in other ways. Andreas Bogk, a member of the Chaos Computer Club, recently told the Wall Street Journal that Schmitz set up a computer system for the uploading and downloading of pirated PC software, charging people for access. (Schmitz exposed the scheme in an interview with a German television news program, and it was subsequently shut down by Deutsche Telekom.)

Schmitz’s efforts to branch into the “legit” world of security consulting with his security company Data Protect initially backfired by exposing his real identity—and by allowing it to be connected to his hacker credentials. In March of 1994, he was arrested by police for trafficking in stolen phone calling card numbers. He was held in custody for a month, then arrested again on additional hacking charges shortly afterward—and again released. In 1998, he was convicted of 11 counts of computer fraud, 10 counts of data espionage, and an assortment of other charges. He received a two-year suspended sentence—because, at just 20, he was declared “under age” at the time the crimes were committed.

In January 2001, as the dot-com crash was starting to gain momentum, LetsBuyIt was close to bankruptcy. Schmitz bought 375,000 euros in the company’s shares—and then announced he was preparing to invest an additional 50 million Euros. “I’m completely convinced LetsBuyIt can reach profitability despite its current problems,” he told the Guardian.

The news hit the market, and the stock price of LetsBuyIt surged. Schmitz cashed out, making a profit of EUR 1.5 million. Perhaps Schmitz was just ignorant of the legal ramifications of what he had done— insider trading wasn’t even a crime in Germany until 1995.

With insider trading charges pending over LetsBuyIt, Schmitz decided it was time to lay low (by his standards); “in fear for his life,” he fled to Thailand in January of 2002. On his website, he hinted at possible suicide, saying he would be crossing “to a new world,” Hale-Bopp cult style. But instead of offing himself, he declared that he wanted to be known as “King Kimble the First, Ruler of the Kimpire”—a label he would apply to his future projects. (It’s listed as his title on LinkedIn.)

As it turned out, Thailand wasn’t happy to see him. He was promptly arrested and fast-track deported to Germany to stand trial. However, the few nights in a Thai jail turned out to be the worst of it, as fears of prison in Germany were unfounded—he was sentenced to 20 months probation and slapped with a EUR 100,000 fine. In 2003, he pled guilty to embezzlement charges over the Monkey “loan” and received another two years of probation.

Schmitz officially changed his legal name to Kim Dotcom—and used his Finnish heritage to register a passport under the name “Kim Tim Jim Vestor” as well, using the address of a step-sibling in Turku, Finland. The Vestor persona was used in the creation of Vestor Limited. It wasn’t until 2007 that Kim Dotcom was revealed to be connected in any way to Megaupload, and his role as founder wasn’t revealed until 2011 by the company.

This evening to huge cheers he told the audience that if political leaders were ”going to use check boxes against us… election time is when we get to check boxes about them.”

And Greenwald, answering reporters’ questions w/ Dotcom, following the completion of the event:

Questioned about his motivations about the timing of his reports and visits, Greenwald told reporters, ”The suggestion we have some sort of interest in shaping the outcome of your election… is absurd”.

Because that’s the way they’re used to holding their phone. I think there’s actually a way to correct portrait-mode video in the settings somewhere, but people don’t quite know how to set their clocks on their DVR players (or whatever), so it’s not surprising.

Also, I blame Vine and Instagram video with their square format video, which makes it a non-issue for those services.

re: #34 Islamo-Masonic Conspirator

this graphic made me navigate to the unfundamentalist christian webpage

what we believe

Jesus Christ was God incarnate. He performed miracles; as a means of providing for the irrevocable reconciliation of humankind to God he sacrificed himself on the cross; he rose from the dead; he left behind for the benefit of all people the totality of himself in the form of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

The Bible is not a contract stipulating the rules for being a Christian. It is an ancient, massive, infinitely complex tome comprising songs, visions, histories, dreams, parables, commandments, and more. Christians seeking to follow the Word of God must look to all the words of God, ever seeking within those words the spirit of Jesus Christ. This means never failing to choose love, compassion and charity over adherence to any Biblical “law” that in practice or spirit violates Christ’s Great Commandment to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

Christianity is supposed to be all about nothing more (and nothing less!) than living a life of love, compassion, fairness, peace, and humility.

The Biblical scholarship supporting the idea that Paul never wrote a word condemning natural homosexuality is more credible and persuasive than is the scholarship claiming that he did. Moreover, we remain mystified as to how any follower of Jesus could choose damning an entire population over obeying Jesus’ Great Commandment to love God and one’s neighbor as oneself.

God does not want any woman automatically “submitting” to her husband or to anyone else.

Using masculine pronouns to refer to God is strictly a matter of convention, a profoundly unfortunate necessity of the English language, which to date offers no satisfactory alternative. But God is neither male nor female. God is always, at once, both and unimaginably more.

The belief that throughout history God chose to introduce himself in different ways into different culture streams is more reasonable, respectful, and compassionate than is the conviction that there is only one correct way to understand and worship God.

There is no support in the Bible for the morally repugnant idea that hell is an actual place to which God sentences people to spend eternity in mortal agony.

God’s will and intention is to forgive and teach us, not to judge and punish us.

Anyone desiring to mix Church and State has failed to understand the nature and proper role of either.

God can handle converting people. Our job is to love people.

An all-powerful God and the theory of evolution are not incompatible.

Getting a divorce is painful, and if at all possible should certainly be avoided. But in and of itself divorce is not immoral.

The single most telling indicator of a person’s moral character has nothing to do with how they define or worship God, and everything to do with how they treat others.

Strictly speaking, if one is an honest literalist fundie, then one won’t go with the “gays” version at all, since it’s nowhere in the Bible.

We have Ezekiel implying the sin was being cruel to those in need.

We have Jesus (allegedly) implying that Sodom’s & Gomorrah’s sin had something to do with how one treats strangers.

Finally, Paul says it had to do with turning to “strange flesh”. But what that means, nobody seems to know. Could that be a reference to sodomy? Maybe, but just as easily it could be a reference to rape or sex outside of marriage.

This has gotta be the “former St. Louis County Police Chief Ron Battelle” seen, in the original post on this subject, along with McCulloch fondling a nearly $300K check allegedly raised through some fundraising event involving Backstoppers.

Jesus, these motherfuckers in St. Louis County like to keep it all in the clubhouse, don’t they?

Scholarship doesn’t become more convincing just because it serves some noble social goals. It was basically only John Boswell who tried to reinterpret Paul’s clear anti-homosexual quotes. His attempts have not been found persuasive by most other scholars. It may be sad in a way, because that means that Paul’s moldy, 2000 y.o. teachings will still poison the well long after we’re gone, but, well, facts are facts.

I thought “biblical scholars” have offered up the notion that Lot’s daughters plotted to get daddy drunk and have sex with him.

Of course, blame it on gays, blame it on women, just don’t blame it on the real perps. Been going on ever since Eve…

Funny thing though. Lot was such a swell guy that God even hesitated destroying the 2 cities because of him. Then he is quickly seduced by his daughters and his career as a saint is ruined. “He was no angel”.

Well, the original story doesn’t really mention the exact reason. So later commentators (Ezekiel being among them) have different takes on the issue.

But yeah, there’s a contradiction here, if one is a literalist fundie.

Not because they were Teh Ghey, but because it was their custom to abuse the poor and helpless, which included raping the homeless.

84 WhatEVs  Sep 15, 2014 4:03:18pm

Hey look. I just got an email from John McCain.

(Me)

I’ll get right to the point.

Right now, we’re quite literally in a battle for the future of America.

Our way of life - our freedom, our security, our hope for a prosperous future for all of our families and our children’s children - could be put at risk if Barack Obama and the Democrats win total control of our government again on November 4.

There’s too much at stake at home and abroad to just sit back and let it happen. Times like these demand real, decisive, principled leadership from America’s leaders.

And with the elections just 50 days away, we do not have a moment to waste.

Today, there are barbaric acts of violence and destruction taking place throughout the world that are a threat to our freedom. And there’s very little stability at home when it comes to our economy, jobs and energy production.

Despite the Democrats’ distortions and lies, facts are stubborn things. And the truth is we need strong Republican leadership to restore peace and prosperity at home and throughout the world.

(Me), if the RNC is going to be able to fully fund the nationwide Get-Out-The-Vote efforts and provide the technology and data necessary to win a Republican Senate Majority and maintain our Majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, we must raise more than $4 million in the next 15 days.

We must have your help to meet this goal right now.

That is why I’m calling on you, as a loyal member of our Party, to join me in giving at least $1 for each of the 36 Senate seats up for election. That’s a $36 contribution toward taking back the Senate, stopping Obama’s destructive agenda and redirecting our nation’s course.

Your $36 contribution blah blah blah. It will allow the RNC to make double the investments necessary to carry out our winning strategy these next 50 days.

I am determined to do whatever I can to secure a Republican Senate Majority in November. Stand with me and commit to victory.

Thank you,

Senator John McCain

Guess that depends on how you define regular christian belief. There are lots of christian off shoots, some extremely liberal, like unitarianism, or universalism. Most are somewhere between there and fundamentalism. Even Roman catholicism teaches that hell doesn’t exist as a place, it is just the state of being separated from God.

Doing more reading about the Boles fire, they’re reporting 75 structures lost and chances are quite good that the structures in question are homes, not outbuildings. It started in a residential area, and they’re desperately trying to get resources to try and save half of it. Folks listening to scanners say that incident command has said they’re going to lose the elementary school and they’re trying hard to save half of the subdivision it started in.

Ok, obviously there are a lot of strong feelings out there on this topic as evidenced by the page here. Where Frum goes utterly moronic is at the end where he points out that Bill Clinton traveled to Ottawa and spoke out for Canadian unity in 1995 ahead of Quebec’s secession referendum that year:

President Obama has played no equivalent role in the debate over the survival of America’s close ally, the United Kingdom. If the ‘Yes’ vote prevails on September 18, Obama’s omission should be remembered in the postmortem assignment of blame for a potential disaster for the peoples of Britain, Europe, and the Western alliance.

What the fuck does David Frum have to add of any value to the Scottish referendum?

I made a decision.

I’ve noticed something with the stories that concern my personal hot button topics.

When Fox does a segment on them, they always have a ringer. Someone who will put forward an absolutely insane (baiting) perspective. I freak-out (play right into it).

Fox get’s noticed, tweeted, etc.

I’m not playing anymore.

GAZE FOX

The simple solution is to not watch Fox.

re: #52 Islamo-Masonic Conspirator

Or shellfish. Tref, dontcha know.

Apparently it is. I posted in the “aye” thread that I wish the Scots well with whatever they decide. Not my area, not my thing. But self-determination is important, I think.

So I guess I’m not important.

Well, unlike Frum, George Will managed to write a piece about the Scottish Referendum that is actually about Scotland. There is nothing in that piece about Barack Obama or any other living American political figure. And its a decent and calm piece, unlike some other things will has written in the last few years.

It’s always interesting to see how some people calm down a great deal when they aren’t talking about things that directly effect them.

<Yet the economic arguments against independence seem not to be working — and may even be backfiring. I think I know why. Telling a Scot, “You can’t do this — if you do, terrible things will happen to you,” has been a losing negotiating strategy since time immemorial. If you went into a Glasgow pub tonight and said to the average Glaswegian, “If you down that beer, you’ll get your head kicked in,” he would react by draining his glass to the dregs and telling the barman, “Same again.”>

Here’s the thing that boggles me about Scottish “independence”:

Ditching Monarchy Is Step Too Far for Scots Nationalists

[…]

For Scottish nationalists who say they are on the cusp of achieving their ambition of unraveling the U.K. political union that dates back 307 years, ditching the monarchy is a step too far. Rather than a republic, they want to keep the queen as head of a newly independent state.

“It would be a very smooth transition as she is already the Queen in Scotland,” said Robert Hazell, director of the constitution unit at University College London. “It’s a country she knows very well and loves very well.”

The monarchy is the most enduring symbol of union between England and Scotland along with the pound sterling, which the nationalists also want to retain.

[…]

It seems to me the Scots truly don’t want independence.

I caught a piece on NPR this afternoon saying about the same thing about David Cameron’s speech on the subject. That basically telling the Scots “You better not do that” is the best way to get them to figure ‘doing it must be a good idea’.

I have no dog in this fight, so I’m watching with just an academic interest.

Same here.

It’s kinda unstablizing to my inner sense of reality that the British Empire might whittle down to the bit of land the Vikings started raiding back in the day.

NPR had a guy on this morning proposing the slippery slope concept —If Scotland goes, then Wales will follow, then the Irelands ….

I thought OH NO, what about the Outer Hebrides!

I can’t handle much more change in my world. I am fully cognizant that my world is meaningless to the people of Scotland —as it should be.

I guess I feel as if I don’t have a dog in this fight. I do believe that the Scots are not thinking clearly about their petroleum production, though. If the nationalists want to keep the pound sterling it sounds to me as if that is a tacit admission that Scotland can’t have a viable economy without the other current members of the UK.

Keeping the monarchy is to me a bit too much sentimentalism, but people want what they want. I realize that the “united” part of the United Kingdom is when a Scottish king went down to England to unite the two countries, and perhaps that makes the Scots feel something for the current crown.

Googling around a bit unearthed this gem:

In the United States at this time liberalism is not only the dominant but even the sole intellectual tradition. For it is the plain fact that nowadays there are no conservative or reactionary ideas in general circulation… the conservative impulse and the reactionary impulse do not… express themselves in ideas but only… in irritable mental gestures which seek to resemble ideas. —- Lionel Trilling, 1950

Since present day US conservatism is even worse than “irritable mental gestures which seek to resemble ideas”, the failure of WFB’s little project of giving US conservatism an intellectual veneer is complete.

Depends on how fancy you want it… I’d think about doing a chicken and cabbage stir fry. If you wanted something more casual, I’d probably do a chicken braise with cabbage and noodles. I’ve done this one before… and let me tell you that it’s SO GOOD!!!

Another option, do a roast on the chicken, and then do sauteed cabbage and apples with carraway. That would be a bit more ‘formal’, but would be a classic. I’d probably do it with roasted new potatoes or cut regular potatoes into smaller chunks, serve along with some good rye bread and butter and I think you’d have a winner.

The only thing that has varied over time is the finesse with which the NRO authors put the “crypto-” into their crypto-racism and crypto-fascism.

Mea culpa. The infamous defense of White supremacy in the South was apparently not in the first issue of NR, but later. The rest of the critique remains valid.

Just like with Poitras publishing leaks related to Turkey and the Kurds as the US was gathering allies in the region, or Greenwald publishing leaks related to China during the US/China cyber summit, and countless other similar examples, team Greenwald selects and times publishing leaks from the Snowden archive to influence events (to interfere with the US and their closet allies’ foreign policy goals, and to cause maximal political friction within those alliances).

This time Greenwald timed releases from his stolen document cache to buttress his appearance at a political rally, dragged Snowden along to reinforce his message and to explicitly call on the audience to vote, all to try his hand at influencing the top elections of a key ally. The event and Greenwald’s travel was paid for by Dotcom, all in support of Dotcom’s pet political party. Dotcom the premium number defrauder, the pirated software seller, the insider trader, the embezzler, convicted of 11 counts of computer fraud and 10 counts of data espionage, whose recent fortune was made by knowingly mass-hosting pirated software, music and porn while charging his users for premium access.

If you would like to stop purchases from automatically downloaded to your library, open the iTunes preferences, click on the Store tab, and uncheck the automatic downloads box.

Did you review the link WW left for you? Here’s a nice highlight from it:

The fundamental problem is this: There is an asymmetry between the good that many moderate Muslims can do for Britain and the harm that a few fanatics can do to it. The 1-in-1,000 chance that a man is a murderous fanatic is more important to me than the 999-in-1,000 chance that he is not a murderous fanatic: If, that is, he is not especially valuable or indispensable to me in some way.

And the plain fact of the matter is that British society could get by perfectly well without the contribution even of moderate Muslims. The only thing we really want from Muslims is their oil money for bank deposits, to prop up London property prices and to sustain the luxury market; their cheap labor that we imported in the 1960s in a vain effort to bolster the dying textile industry, which could not find local labor, is now redundant. In other words, one of the achievements of the bombers and would-be bombers is to make discrimination against most Muslims who wish to enter Britain a perfectly rational policy.

This is the person who you described as “always-good, often-excellent.”

Are there any other “free” albums on iTunes? There are free apps on the app store but I think the problem might have come about as a result of either accounting rules or the legalese of licensing agreements Apple has with the music industry to set certain minimum prices. Giving the album away for “free” might have violated certain contractual rules, so they made the equally poor decision to automatically mark it as “purchased” in everyone’s account. And that is what triggered the automatic download for everyone who had that preference option checked.

I wish at the time Apple had forced me to take that for free. Of course, the mode of delivery would probably have been Steve Jobs breaking into my house and hooking it up to my Mac.

Sure was, four versions between ‘04 and ‘06 (4th and 5th Gen); here a pic of one of the last revisions:

It turns out Putin’s proxies in the Ukraine have even more evil support than previously suspected.

This photo clearly shows Basement Cat providing the pro-Russian forces with instruction on how to be evil.

/Kidding. it’s really just another ‘cats in the war zone’ photo.

Apple did another thing that irked me recently actually with the iPhone. It imported all my facebook friends into my phone contacts. I didn’t want that. Not a huge deal I guess but if I want to have someone as a contact on my phone, I will add them myself.

What’s been an eyeopener is how many people on the Internet hate U2 with the power of a thousand burning supernovas.

Bob Lefsetz (blowhard “industry insider” blogger) can’t seem to write on ANY topic without mentioning his hatred for U2 and iTunes.

Speaking of Apple and iPods…with the death of iPod “classic” recently, I discovered that now the largest iPod capacity available now is 64GB (on the top of the line iPod touch). That is not nearly enough to hold my library, and I am amazed that the retail shelves have apparently been scoured of all high capacity iPod classics. I guess I will have to wait until the gougers on eBay lose interest before I can locate a backup for mine.

I was really pissed that they did that. Really hope someone comes up with another massive MP3 player. Fortunately I recently replaced my classic.

If you’re on a Mac and signed in to FB using Internet Accounts in the System Prefs, I think that’s the default, unfortunately. You can cruise over there and turn off the Contacts option in the FB setting.

Not sure what the skinny is on Windows.

Hmmmm. On Windows 7. It’s not a huge deal I guess. I just wish they hadn’t done it.

There’s been a lot of unhappiness over that move, much for the reasons you folks describe. I would imagine that Apple had a sales number in mind, and once the classic dropped to it, they were going to pull the plug.

I’ve reviewed Dalrymple’s columns over at Takimag and they are indeed not bigoted. But enough other stuff there is bigoted to warrant that Page’s permanent removal.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

There’s simply no way Dalrymple would be writing for Takimag if he didn’t have affinity for their views. This is an openly racist website we’re talking about here. Wake up.

Good luck with that, because the iPod Classics are now officially collector’s items. As for me, my plain-Jane white 30GB Classic (circa 2006) is still truckin’, although it’ll freeze and require a hard restart every now and then. It’s long been retired from daily duty, though I still keep it updated; I’ve really mistreated it over the past 2-3 years, keeping it in a boombox with a iPod dock in my unheated/uncooled storage shed/workshop.

But, it still works.

I’ve recently started running my main desktop rig as a dual-boot Hackintosh; I’ve alway been a Windows guy, but after working with my cousin’s iMac, getting it updated from Leopard (!) to Mavericks and such, I decided to throw OS X on my PC.

It’s not exactly the same as on an “official” iDevice (mainly because of hardware differences), but it’s close enough for government work for me; in the past couple of weeks, I’ve spent the lion’s share of computer time at home on OS X, only booting into Win8.1 when I need to do something that I can’t do in OS X (which isn’t a lot).

I’ll never completely dump Windows for OS X, because I’m a gamer (though on a bit of a hiatus) and I have too much invested in PC games and other Windows software to do it, but OS X, even on a Hackintosh, is pretty sufficent for my daily routine.

Heh. Today I re-installed an old laptop’s original drive with Ubuntu and its native Windows Vista for one reason—Civ 4. I had swapped in another drive with Windows 7, but the newer MS crap wouldn’t tolerate the game.
(Using that game at my exercise bike almost doubled my tolerance.)

I was going to point out that Dalrymple was published at Lew Rockwell’s site too, but it was just reruns from Takimag.

re: #311 The Ghost of a Flea

You’ll be shocked, shocked, to learn that the guest on Hannity who claimed that Janey Rice was at fault was A J Delgado, who did the National Review article about how most rapes are made up.

Delgado is the latest in a series of female writers pandering to a largely male conservative audience, following in the footsteps of Ann Coulter and S.E. Cupp. It’s hard to say whether she really believes what she writes and says (she has a law degree, so you know, lawyer jokes abound*), or whether she’s realized there’s easier money to be had in saying hateful and untruthful things in the media than in the courtroom.

* How do you know when a lawyer is lying? When he opens his mouth.
