Michael Savage Attacks Veterans With PTSD: “Stop Crying Like a Baby”

Today’s absolutely grotesque example of right wing hate speech comes from radio screamer Michael Savage (real name: Michael Weiner), who launched into a deranged rant against veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder because they aren’t strong manly men like him.

Remember when right wingers used to pretend to care about military veterans?

He then blamed America’s problems on those who “cry like a little baby” over depression: “If the whole nation is told, ‘boo-hoo-hoo, come and get a medication, come and get treatment, talk about mental illness,’ you know what you wind up with? You wind up with Obama in the White House and lawyers in every phase of the government, that’s what you wind up with. It’s a weak, sick nation. A weak, sick, broken nation.”

Savage continued that veterans with PTSD are a “bunch of losers” and recommended that they be more like Michael Savage.

“You need men like me to save the country,” he said. “You need men to stand up and say stop crying like a baby over everything.” He continued that “men are so weak and so narcissistic” that it is “no wonder ISIS can defeat our military.”

Negatory. He’s another warhawk who has never actually worn the uniform himself.

I have never listened to Savage, but what little of his comments I’ve seen of his seems to be his own brand of crying.

And what is this about ISIS can defeat our military??? How does he come to that opinion.

Oh yeah…the ol’ pulled it out of his ass method.

He is way too old to be accepted…

Question: What is the maximum age to enlist in the Military?

Answer: The maximum age of non-prior service enlistment, under federal law used to be age 35. In 2006 the Army tried to convinced Congress to change this to age 44. Congress thought age 44 was too high, but raised the maximum enlistment age, under law, from 35 to age 42.

Regardless of federal law, the military services are allowed to impose more strict standards — and many of them have. The maximum age for non-prior service enlistments for each of the services are:

Active duty Army - 35
Army Reserves - 35
Army National Guard - 35
Active duty Air Force - 27
Air Force Reserve - 34
Air National guard - 40
Active duty Navy - 34
Navy Reserves - 39
Active duty Marines - 28
Marine Corps Reserves - 29
Active duty Coast Guard - 27
Coast Guard Reserves - 39

Age waivers are possible for those with prior military service.

Because you’re lazy. You’re ignorant. You are a blithering collection of wannabe Wikipedia philosophers, drunk on your own buzzwords, incapable of forming an original thought. Not Weiner. He believes every word he says, and when he contradicts himself he believes that too. He’s also an equal opportunity hater; he hates everyone not male and named Weiner. That leaves him and his son Goldencloud as the only two “good guys” in the Weiner universe.

Why am I mentioning this? Because she did it this morning and I saw the Kluwe article before cleaning it up, and I liked the juxtaposition. Dealing with a literal shitstain is more pleasant than dealing with #gamergaters. Literally, the description shitstain is too good for them.

How in the hell is Mallard Fillmore still a thing? Supposedly it’s a political cartoon, I guess, but it’s formatted in such a way to be snuck onto the actual funnypapers. The few I get forwarded to me are just racist / homophobic / transphobic non sequiturs that make absolutely no sense.

This week (or last two weeks it looks like) he’s been going off on Transwomen, poking “fun” (spewing hatred) at how some Women’s Colleges are accepting Transwomen in. Apparently the phrase “identify as” is just *hilarious* to this guy.

So… really, how is it a thing? Does he have some sort of contract that prevents them from throwing him out of the papers like the 700 Club, or are there people out there who actually find this gibberish funny? OR is this a Fox News, false balance sort of deal?

Well no, Chris, they aspire for their kids to do better than they did. Except the means to do so got sold to China and India for cheap, with most of what’s left either being automated into oblivion or dominated by 50-60 year olds whose retirement funds got cleaned out by your buddies in the financial sector. So they’re left working two minimum wage jobs and hoping that something better will eventually come along.

Thing that always gets me about those who bitch the loudest about raising the minimum wage are also the ones who think the reason all the jobs got shipped overseas is because American workers won’t accept lower pay to keep the jobs around. Seriously, I’ve time and again heard a wingnut tell me that people should aspire to better than the minimum wage, then in the next breath bitch that the push for higher minimum wage is because the unions want better pay.

The best thing about Gary Trudeau going on sabbatical to work on his Netflix series is that when the local paper dropped Doonesbury it also dropped Mallard Fillmore.

re: #89 KiTA

You pretty much answered your own question. It’s basically the Fox News of comic strips (Mallard is just telling the truth that Ziggy doesn’t want you to hear), and a convenient MBF for newspapers when they start catching shit over Teh Librul Doonesbury.

#GamerGate is an attack on ethical journalism

Anyone who legitimately cares about ethics in journalism would react to #GamerGate by screaming in horror and hanging garlic from the doors. To sincerely care about ethics precludes any involvement in #GamerGate, a movement that is singularly defined by its utter lack of any ethics whatsoever. But, and I’ll explain in a moment why, it’s also physically impossible to care specifically about ethics in journalism and have any reaction to #GamerGate outside of thorough and complete denunciation, because it is a movement against ethics in journalism. It’s just pretending to be otherwise, because bigots generally pose as moral crusaders. It’s their favorite costume.

Boy, did I hate it when one of those ended up on my hook when fishing creeks entering the northern Ohio River as a kid.

OMG! I know exactly where those people are standing. Owensboro has a nice riverfront. The performing arts center is new —that is where they are.

Would you settle for Milan?

Ok, explain that to me.

Is that a buried U-boat?

Some sort of marketing thing. Google “Milan submarine.”

re: #149 KiTA

My distinct and personal problem with #GG is that there might be some actual real issues to address (in the same manner that the Men’s Right Movement has a few legit gripes), but the movement is basically under the control of people more interested in being horribly mean human beings and/or causing shit and watching everything burn (again, like the MRM).

It’s… not even about video games anymore. It’s an extension of the ongoing cultural fight, and kind of telling in revealing that a small cross-section of gamers are — shock! — not very comfortable with change!

There’s a wonderfully foul-mouthed Chris Kluwe article on… Medium, I think, that basically says (after tons of insults): “If you really want to be taken seriously, time to truly disown the bad actors and engage the stated issue (journalism and ethics) like adults”.

But there were a lot of interesting insults. Then again, it’s Cluwe, and he’s got the gamer cred to be insulted and angry, so.

Note that this is par for the course that Savage denies PTSD. He also denies the reality of autism.

He really is an idiot with his head stuck in the sand up his ass.

I’m not even sure he’s an idiot. Maybe he knows very well what he is doing and saying, without necessarily believing it. $$$$

Frankly, I’ve only read a couple of articles and a wiki entry, but this kind of vitriol indicates to me that both sides are, ahem, out there.

Assholes also chanted ‘America, Love it or leave it’ during the Iraq war—

It makes me really angry, but I have to say, since I moved to Scotland 4 years ago, I pay more attention to the UK news, and the whole ‘MY country—not YOURS— Love it or leave it!’ is a thing here(! I thought it was American), especially since the rise of UKIP.

* I should correct this— it’s a thing in England, NOT scotland.

It’s not even restricted to English-speaking countries. I was in Paris in 1993 and saw a sticker that said “La France: aimez-la ou quittez-la”.

Someone is really going to give them money to do this?

If Steve Brill is in on it, they can use Steve Brill’s money.

I was going to post something about a crowbar and Mr. Savage crying.

But I’m better than that.

Oh, wow. The nerve of this- this-

I don’t think I know enough swear words to describe how bad this is. I don’t.
