The Police Audio of the Palin Family’s Post-Drunken Brawl Interviews Is Not Pretty

Springeresque
Weird • Views: 40,506

Radar Online has posted the unedited audio of police interviewing people after the Sarah Palin family’s drunken brawl last September at a party in Anchorage, and it’s a trash-fest if there ever was one. Warning: Bristol and Willow Palin drop plenty of F-bombs and other initial-bombs too. Tell the kids to leave the room before you listen.

Also, what do you call a group of Palins? A derp of Palins?

It’s very enlightening to hear what the Palin family is really like when they’re not made up for the cameras.

Yeah, someone landed at one of the 5 airports that 96% of passengers who might come from Sierra Leone, Liberia, or Guinea might arrive at.

And that person may have symptoms that might be Ebola.

Or not.

Like hundreds of other cases that turned out not to be Ebola.

Or the hundred+ people who have been cleared after the quarantine/isolation periods. Or Duncan’s fiance who didn’t get it despite being in close contact with him when he was sick.

It’s good that we’re checking these instances out to be safe, but the single best way to stop the spread of Ebola is to stop it in Africa - and that means a lot more resources devoted there. And Chuckles and the rest of the right wing seem to be opposed to doing that.

One of the funniest parts is that “the aggressor” in the red shirt that “is going to leave” is Korey Klingenmeyer, and all of this happened AT HIS HOUSE.
And at the beginning of the audio, none of the Palins know who he is.

Many many years ago, when I was assigned to Ft. Ord in Monterey, CA, the conference room next to our shop had a TV. At lunchtime we would all pile in there for Jerry.

Thing was, no matter how bad your day was going, no matter how messed up things were in your life, you could figure after watching Springer, you’d walk out with the attitude “Hey, my life doesn’t really suck, not like those people on TV”

Funny thing, he was, at one time, the fast rising star of the Democratic party. He was the youngest mayor of any major American city. (I believe it was Columbus, or possibly Cincincinnati, but I’m too lazy to look it up)

It is, to some extent, the same reason folks get sworn in on a religious text of some sort.

As per the DHS - 5 airports - those five - JFK, Newark, Dulles, Atlanta and Chicago were the airports that 94% of people flying to the US from Sierra Leone, Liberia, or Guinea arrive at.

That’s why they were chosen for heightened screenings.

And the restriction is to make getting the remaining 6% who might arrive elsewhere. Concentrate the efforts at those locations. It’s efficient, without unduly restricting travel and commerce.

So of course Glenn Reynolds, Chuckles, and Hoft would think that this is racist. Or something.

Well blacks (members of any group really) can be racist, but it’s an individual racism, not systemic and they don’t come from a position of power and privilege.

My experience is with first nations. Most of what I’ve seen stems from a frustration, feeling of impotence and frankly being shit on by the majority of society.

I think she would have pulled the role off fine but I think the concept for a Wonder Woman series would have failed.

IMO, WW suffers from the same problem as Superman: she’s too powerful. Unless you depart from the source material or limit their powers for some reason (ala Smallville, where Superman is just learning to use his powers), TV is just too small a medium for them. They need big-time, heavy hitter villains to create any real sense of tension and drama; your typical bad-guy-of-the-week isn’t going to cut it.

First I thought he was letting me down gently, trying to avoid saying he didn’t want to go out with me. Then I thought maybe his mom was a bigot. It took me ten years to realize that his mom was probably just afraid for him. On the other hand St. Petersburg, Fl. always had a large black population. Carefully sequestered on the South side of Central avenue, and below 49th Street.

When a black dentist finally broke the race blockade in 1968 and succeeded in buying a house north of Central avenue you’d have thought the world was going to end to listen to folks here.

In a way I guess their world did end because now there are black people scattered everywhere! Owning houses, mowing their yards, raising their kids, even walking their dogs! Oh dear Jesus please come and save us!

Politically, Alaska is pretty fucking crazy. Think about it. There’s a healthy contingent of hyper-religious Christian zealots and a sizable number of the most libertarian motherfuckers you’ve ever met. Not a whole lot of room for middle ground, though there are some people who have been actively trying to moderate Alaska politics, especially in the population centers.

That’s a toxic mix, and one of the reasons Sarah Palin was able to get elected governor in the first place.

Anyhow, it looks like my little guy is dysgraphic.
The problem is, I don’t think our school system makes any accommodation for that sort of learning disability, or if they even know what Dysgraphia is. As a matter of fact, last year my son’s second grade teacher informed me that handwriting isn’t really part of the curriculum anymore.

The only thing that seems to matter are the statewide tests the kids have to take twice a year, and children can be held back if they don’t pass them.

On the bright side, at least they don’t try to tell them that Mary and Joseph rode to Bethlehem on a triceratops.

“Patriotism” associated paraphernalia are a marketing gimmick, used by very many sellers of goods, including sporting events.

I’d call it sad but I don’t think this is a new phenomenon. Indeed, I think this gimmick has been around for a long time.

And here’s another in a series of late night looks at why South Carolina continues its hurtling rush to the bottom of everything.

In tonight’s gubernatorial debate, the question was about whether people convicted of domestic violence should be able to have guns. Fucking Nikki Haley (who is up by double digits now in the polls—arrrggghh) insisted that people must have the right to protect their homes and families, and that victims of domestic violence should be able to turn more to churches for safe help. Oh, and just for reference, guns were used in 64 percent of all domestic violence killings of women in South Carolina over the last 10 years. What a slimy dirtball she is.

The debate had more talk about God and guns than most anything else, (with a little bit of grass thrown in for good measure by one the fringe candidates) and the loony Libertarian got New Hampshire mixed up with Patrick Henry.

But as Icky Nikki likes to spew, “It’s a great day in South Carolina.”

Remember there was a guy who did an interview with Good Morning America about the brawl. He lost his job later that same day.

The reason that the video won’t see the light of day is the same reason that nobody pressed charges. The Palins have the means and disposition to make that person’s life miserable.

One other reason to despise Sarah Palin (and John McCain for foisting that hairball on us all) is that back when people actually listened to her—OK, back when idiot Republicans listened to her—she came to SC to endorse Nikki Haley. Until then, Haley didn’t have a ghost of a chance of getting the nomination, but the media made a huge deal of Princess Dumbass endorsing her that she started rising in the polls that very day.

Since Chuck C. has contradicted himself, I’ve had to update the tweet-sourced dossier on CCJ.

What I have learned about Charles C. Johnson from his tweets:

He’s an award-winning journalist.
He’s been to Indonesia.
In fact, he’s traveled to more countries than other people (although he has no idea what countries they have traveled to.)
He has bribed customs (?) officials in many countries.
He’s been building rockets since he was 6.
He likes to threaten to sue people.
He also calls the cops when people don’t like his tweets.
He graduated well from top schools.
He had an Asian girlfriend in college.
Their relationship was not well.
His Asian wife is “hot.”
She is an Indonesian Christian.
He is fat and dumpy.
He’s a ginger.
He knows virology.
He knows theology.
He knows the Bible.
He knows epidemiology.
He understands Asians (Asianology?).
He has driven a BMW.
His grandma listened to Rush Limbaugh.
He thrills to hear his name on Rush’s show.
He smokes “fine cigars.”
The Bell Curve changed his life.
He has an IQ of 150.
He speaks multiple languages.
He frequently makes typos but never deletes and corrects them.
He talks to billionaires — later on … maybe.
He publishes private information online — defending Americans!
He’s just like Nelson Mandela, but not like Malcolm X.
He’s also called Mandela a terrorist. Make of that what you will.
He’s not too good with Twitter’s Terms of Service.
He has saved thousands of lives with his tweets.
He ignores grand jury subpoenas, just because.
He believes in “natural slavery” (See Aristotle, Politics, Book 1).
He loves him some Cal Coolidge.
He believes white straight bosses only hire hot chicks, while gay bosses only hire gay workers, black bosses, black workers, etc.
He believes compassion is a vice, and says Plato said it. (Plato didn’t.)
He is going to turn all other journalists into travel agents (or some such nonsense) and change the very essence of journalism.
He has the goods to destroy the careers of Hillary Clinton, Tom Pryor, several other unnamed Senators, Congressman, etc. as soon as the timing and financial reward are right.
He used to live in West Hollywood, and from that learned that all gay men hate women (except Judy Garland and Liza Minelli, of course).
Despite living in West Hollywood, for some reason he seems to prefer Fresno.
He has vetted all potential 2016 candidates and determined that Ted Cruz is the only acceptable one.

Damn. I ranted about the singing of God Bless America during the last baseball series. Tonight, they handed out little American Flags to everyone in the crowd. Sorry if it offends, but looked more pathetic than patriotic.

This illustrates how people who do not understand the true meaning of concepts like patriotism, manhood or Christianity cling to petty symbols to mask their ignorance.

It took 7 months to get my 10-year Green Card renewed. If that was expanded to include IDs for all Americans as well it would probably take them 10 years to issue that many cards. Your ID would probably expire by the time you got it.

There is no worry that there would ever be the political will or a majority on either Right or Left to issue all Americans with a mandatory ID card. I am just pointing out that such a practice (common in most other civilized countries) would moot the entire debate on voter ID.

My friends in China are surprised when I say Americans use drivers licenses as our ID cards. The national ID card here is required to buy train tickets and many online services. Fortunately for me, a foreign passport is also acceptable for tickets and most of those services, too.

In Germany, you go down to the polling place where you are registered (often a bar or restaurant in small towns without a school or town hall), present your ID card, and vote.

And the ID card is needed to register a car, open a bank account, sign a lease or an employment contract, register children for school, etc.

Americans are willing to pay a big price for their “freedom” of not having to carry or produce an ID card.

202 wheat-dogghazi-bola  Oct 22, 2014 2:36:56am

re: #201 Wendell Zurkowitz (slave to the waffle light)

I don’t get it, either. It seems perfectly rational to have a national ID card. Instead, we have a patchwork system involving birth certificates (Certified copies only, please. Photocopies are not accepted), drivers licenses, Social Security numbers and other whatnot. Having a valid passport makes some of these identification hurdles easier, since it can replace the nonsense about getting a certified copy of one’s birth cert, but that doesn’t help the millions of Americans who don’t plan to travel abroad and have no passport.

Everybody gets a SSN now as a child for tax purposes, and the Apocalypse didn’t happen. So, why is requiring a national ID card such an effing big deal?

re: #174 BeachDem

Spit.

I see “too small for a republic and too big for an insane asylum” still applies.

This is a major ball of wax: we need to separate the religious institution of matrimony from the civil institution of marriage. Until we do so, the religious argument does carry some weight.
A JP does not have to bless a gay union, just perform it.

Gotta love that GOP outreach:

At a Wasilla High School assembly Tuesday morning, U.S. Rep. Don Young didn’t temper his notoriously abrasive personality for his young audience.

Numerous witnesses say Young, 81, acted in a disrespectful and sometimes offensive manner to some students, used profanity and started talking about bull sex when confronted with a question about same-sex marriage.

Rep. Young ‘freaked out’ before Kodiak debate, says challenger Dunbar
“We really spend a lot of time at our school talking about how we treat each other,” Wasilla Principal Amy Spargo said Tuesday afternoon. “We just don’t talk to people that way.”

More concerning, school officials say, Young made what they called hurtful and insensitive statements about suicide just days after a Wasilla student took his own life.

The hospital where the person was taken is in Newark (University Hospital). The person is still being evaluated, and test results may come back later today.

Note, the person is coming via Brussels. Not a direct flight.

The hospital is taking precautions, though some of them do seem odd - like cordoning off the parking lot and restricting access to certain streets.

So far, all of the suspected cases around NJ turned out to be false alarms - other diseases or ailments, and not Ebola.

Throughout the afternoon, the passenger’s presence at the hospital triggered unusual - but undisclosed - activity: The emergency room entrance was set off with yellow tape, a parking garage attendant wasn’t allowing cars to enter, and cars leaving the garage were barred from certain streets around the hospital, one health worker said.

“No one knows what’s really happened. No one knows if this is protocol,” said the worker, who expressed frustration about having to rely on rumors for information.

“I just want to know what’s going on. I just want to be safe,” said the worker, who asked not to be identified.

One airport worker, who also asked not to be identified, said the passenger sent to University had had Ebola-like symptoms upon arrival from Europe.

Newark is one of five airports nationwide that instituted screening of all passengers from the West African nations of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. Earlier Tuesday, federal officials announced that all travelers from those countries would have to enter the United States through one of those five airports. The policy shift will have only minimal impact, as the five airports already handle 94 percent of West African passengers.

There have been no cases of Ebola in New Jersey, but officials continue to respond to false alarms.

A sick passenger flying to the United States from Liberia was sent to a Newark hospital earlier this month because of concern he had the Ebola virus - but within hours officials deemed the case to be a false alarm.

Just days ago, a man who recently traveled to West Africa and who was having flu-like symptoms went to the East Orange General Hospital emergency room. The patient was eventually “deemed not at risk for any major communicable diseases including Ebola,” the hospital said.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway and Freehold’s CentraState Medical Center have also had Ebola scares.

The lack of information means that rumor will circulate and fill the void. That’s not good at all.

If the hospital follows proper isolation/containment protocols, then even if this is a confirmed case, the odds that someone will get the disease otherwise will be slim.

As it is, one of the nurses who contracted the disease in Texas has been upgraded to good condition, and another doctor was released in Nebraska after being ruled Ebola free after coming down with the disease.

Reached for the gun, or tried to keep Wilson from shooting him in the first place, because why would Wilson have the gun out in the car?

The timeline still reeks, and of course with the FPD and STL county police avoiding committing any actual facts of the scene to paper, means that we’re flying blind. Yet, the witnesses all indicate that Wilson had his hands up or outstretched when the fatal shots were fired - which is a clear indication that he was no longer a threat to Wilson when Wilson fired the fatal shots.

With all the leaks, it’s looking like a waterfall, and it’s all falling in one direction - against any kind of indictment.

It’s the drip-drip before the deluge. First it was Wilson’s version of events alongside the fact that there was two shots in the car. Then it was a source saying Brown “kept charging.” And now it’s saying that it looks like Brown went for the gun because the shot was close-range.

At this point, I’m expecting sometime in the next day or so, McCullough will announce that he’s failed to secure an indictment and will be closing the case with the understanding in the press that Wilson’s version of events are being accepted as the truth. The pressure will then be on the Feds to cease their investigation, not simply on Wilson but the FPD and STLCPD as a whole.

I can see why the “leaks” about the evidence in the Brown shooting are being staggered, namely an effort to build them up into a picture in the public’s mind that fits precisely with Wilson’s story. Blood in the vehicle? Gunpowder resident on Brown’s wound? “He went for the gun and that led to a struggle for it.” Brown “kept charging”? “He was still a threat after the struggle ended.”

Next will probably be “witness testimony” from an unnamed source that says Brown did indeed “charge.”

re: #301 The Big Ebola of Rocka Rolla

Got someone arguing that MO law allows the officer to use deadly force even if he feels his life was in danger, even if the person is surrendering.

I think that’s misrepresenting what the law says:

Law enforcement officer’s use of force in making an arrest.
563.046. 1. A law enforcement officer need not retreat or desist from efforts to effect the arrest, or from efforts to prevent the escape from custody, of a person he reasonably believes to have committed an offense because of resistance or threatened resistance of the arrestee. In addition to the use of physical force authorized under other sections of this chapter, he is, subject to the provisions of subsections 2 and 3, justified in the use of such physical force as he reasonably believes is immediately necessary to effect the arrest or to prevent the escape from custody.

2. The use of any physical force in making an arrest is not justified under this section unless the arrest is lawful or the law enforcement officer reasonably believes the arrest is lawful.

3. A law enforcement officer in effecting an arrest or in preventing an escape from custody is justified in using deadly force only

(1) When such is authorized under other sections of this chapter; or

(2) When he reasonably believes that such use of deadly force is immediately necessary to effect the arrest and also reasonably believes that the person to be arrested

(a) Has committed or attempted to commit a felony; or

(b) Is attempting to escape by use of a deadly weapon; or

(c) May otherwise endanger life or inflict serious physical injury unless arrested without delay.

4. The defendant shall have the burden of injecting the issue of justification under this section.

Wilson’s got the burden, and he’s the only direct party to the events (everyone else is a witness). He can self-servingly state that he felt he was in danger. Therefore all actions after are justified.

The problem is that his life was no longer in danger when surrendering. He was no longer in immediate danger. Therefore, his actions were improper by operation of the statute.

Brown ran, then turned to surrender with hands up (or going up). That’s not danger. Wilson could simply have waited for backup to arrive before effectuating the arrest, but instead shot him dead with his hands up.

The autopsy results don’t actually confirm that Brown struggled for the gun - only that he was shot at close range in the hand and that GSR was evident. That’s consistent with other witnesses. Baden’s autopsy showed no signs of wounds on Brown consistent with a struggle.

We’re still left with trying to figure out why Wilson would unholster his gun in the police car in the first place, and that two of the shots were fired in the car (which explains blood splatter, the hand wound to Brown, and GSR).

Wilson would appear to have instigated the stop, escalated the events, and then fired and killed Brown even when he surrendered.

By operation of the statute, that’s not a justifiable action.

re: #310 Vogon Poetry

In general-There seems to be a built in escalation in practice. Deadly force can be used to stop a fleeing dangerous felon. Then one defines a scuffle with a cop as a felony and the cop with a literal black eye (or bloody nose lip or ?) surely perceives that fleeing felon as dangerous.
Unless I got this wrong?

About the GSR-You have probably fired a semi auto pistol at least somewhat like a police service gun. That’s a big volume of residue with a lot of velocity even at the chamber. Two men close, perhaps struggling but certainly a confined space… Good luck finding where the residue did not get. I have a friend in the gun forensics biz that might shed some light later when I ask him.

re: #310 Vogon Poetry

Hence the bit in Wilson’s testimony that Brown “kept charging” at him. That he, in fear for his life after the struggle in the SUV, feared for his life and thus fired until Brown ceased moving. With no camera footage, it’s left to witnesses, and I’m sure McCullough is doing everything to either obviate their testimony or downplay it in favor of the physical evidence.

Speaking of which, I note the press is still insisting on presenting the blood evidence as “in the car,” in such a vague fashion that one might assume it was everywhere, rather than the reality that it was on the driver side door panel. And now calling upon a forensic pathologist from San Francisco for quotes saying that the autopsy evidence suggests Brown was going for the gun.

No indication that patient taken to Newark University Hospital has Ebola, states Gov. Christie in morning presser.

Gov. Chris Christie said today a West African airline passenger who landed at Newark Airport last night treated for possible Ebola virus symptoms is currently “asymptomatic.”

The governor, speaking at Hackensack University Medical Center, said the passenger and his wife will likely be released from University Hospital after meeting with CDC officials.

CNN banner now reads “Numerous gunmen” involved, as if a whole miniature army had descended on Ottawa. They just showed video from inside Parliament of the shooting and it does appear there were at least 15-20 shots fired but the video does not show any shooters. Obviously it would not be difficult for one shooter to fire off that many rounds that fast.

I should also add that WHILE the “numerous gunmen” crawl was there the CNN anchor was saying as many as “2 or 3” shooters may be involved.

Yeah, that’s sure numerous isn’t it? /

Should Florida split into 2 states?

Florida could be split in two, effectively creating the 51st state of “South Florida,” if city officials near the southern end of the (currently singular) Sunshine State had their way.

Commissioners in the city of South Miami passed a resolution calling for the “legal separation” of Florida into two states, north and south.

The reason: South Miami Vice Mayor Walter Harris says state leaders in Tallahassee isn’t doing enough to address southern Florida’s concerns about rising sea levels and climate change.

The resolution that Florida’s 24 southernmost counties secede from the Sunshine State and create a new state called South Florida. The remaining 43 counties would retain the original name “Florida.”
