Chuck C. Johnson Said “PD Sources” Told Him Ebola Confirmed in Newark - but He Was Lying Again

The Ginger Avenger strikes again
Wingnuts • Views: 37,649
Chuck C. Johnson posing with his best friend

When the news came out last night that a Liberian passenger who landed at Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday afternoon had been held for evaluation of possible Ebola symptoms, self-proclaimed “award-winning journalist” Chuck C. Johnson wasted no time springing into action. The Ginger Avenger stated outright that we had a new case of Ebola in New Jersey, claimed he had police sources who told him it was confirmed, and boasted that he was showing up a journalist who accused him of fear-mongering.

So, after all that bragging and paranoia, can you guess what we’re finding out today?

The Wall Street Journal reports: Airline Passenger Taken to Newark Hospital Has Not Tested Positive for Ebola.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie also announced that the passenger was asymptomatic and would soon be released.

That’s right, folks — this charlatan was lying again, just as he’s been spreading lies and fear ever since the first case of Ebola was confirmed. He doesn’t have any “PD sources.” No New Jersey cop would lie about something like this, for no reason, to a blogger in California.

Inciting fear of infectious disease to get attention for himself and his crummy blog, and just outright lying about it is pretty much the bottom of the barrel. Chuck C. Johnson is breaking new ground in right wing dishonesty and vileness.

Suspected case of Ebola = anyone who’s throwing up on a flight that may involve someone who recently came from West Africa (or puked in a car near the Pentagon or had morning sickness , etc).

Proof that the person had Ebola = unnamed sources that repeatedly feed Chuckles misleading or bogus information.

Memo to Chuckles, get new unnamed sources because your current ones are TEH SUCK.

Put more simply, Chuckles wets his pants every time someone possibly gets sick on a flight, immediately assumes that they’re infected with Ebola, and then invents sources who confirm his bias.

It seems that in the parallel wingnut universe truth doesn’t matter as long as you piss off teh evil libs, they thrive on that and swarm to his defense. I guess I am failing to see the end game? He would be replaced by someone and no one would even notice, why not keep the most obvious dumbass on the pedestal than the replacement one which would couldn’t help but be less lame?

Chucky exists to provide Rush and Drudge and such with cover, so they’re not creating the lies themselves, but rather just relaying what an ‘award-winning journalist’ says. And once the lie is out there, it has already become accepted as truth by a large section of the Right.

It takes no time at all to make up a lie that flatters the preconceptions of the Right. It takes work to debunk it, and even then they won’t believe you. It’s hard not to simply throw up one’s hands and give up. Kudos to those who keep fighting.

I read an article this morning about how sometimes, “choose your battles” means that you can choose to walk away - and sometimes you have to, because your mental health requires it.

I definitely recognize where right now, I have very little in the way of reserves. There are days (like today) where I think I am just done trying to engage on certain issues. My sanity takes precedence over trying to have a conversation with someone who thinks I don’t deserve the right to make decisions about my own body, for example. It has to. I can’t go back out and fight for the latter very well without the former.

re: #67 iossarian

10. Elitism is a typical aspect of any reactionary ideology, insofar as it is fundamentally aristocratic, and aristocratic and militaristic elitism cruelly implies contempt for the weak. Ur-Fascism can only advocate a popular elitism. Every citizen belongs to the best people of the world, the members of the party are the best among the citizens, every citizen can (or ought to) become a member of the party. But there cannot be patricians without plebeians. In fact, the Leader, knowing that his power was not delegated to him democratically but was conquered by force, also knows that his force is based upon the weakness of the masses; they are so weak as to need and deserve a ruler. Since the group is hierarchically organized (according to a military model), every subordinate leader despises his own underlings, and each of them despises his inferiors. This reinforces the sense of mass elitism.

Perfect.

He was a flaming Liberal, the likes of which today’s RWNJ despises today and always have despised, and in some cases, like MLK’s, killed.

By current standards, the GOP would think of Reagan, Eisenhower, and Nixon as flaming liberals. That’s how far to the right the GOP has shifted - and keeps moving even further to the right.

Throw in groups like the NRA that make it all but impossible to act on public safety and health issues, and you begin to see how out of touch the GOP truly is with most Americans.

Not to go Godwin here, but the Nazis and Russian Communist leaders were also out of touch with most of their vassals, and it didn’t matter at all. People are voting for these lunatics, and I see no way they don’t win big next month.

It really helps to have nationwide, 24/7 propaganda outlets “catapulting the propaganda”, as GWB liked to say, and it appears to work quite well. Add in a completely neutered media, and they can’t lose.

While a group may define a voluntary member in a very narrow way a member very rarely defines a group. By saying that you are special in some way because you belong to group where a special member once belonged is childish and naive.

One of the most ominous points here is #6:

6. Ur-Fascism derives from individual or social frustration.

That is why one of the most typical features of the historical fascism was the appeal to a frustrated middle class, a class suffering from an economic crisis or feelings of political humiliation, and frightened by the pressure of lower social groups. In our time, when the old “proletarians” are becoming petty bourgeois (and the lumpen are largely excluded from the political scene), the fascism of tomorrow will find its audience in this new majority.

It is especially telling that the GOP is doing everything in its power to create the economic crisis that may allow fascism to rise in the US, while simultaneously stoking racial resentment.

re: #107 Lidane

I can think of any number of scenarios where a law enforcement officer is justified to use deadly force to kill someone who is actively engaging in a crime or is furthering a criminal act.

Even with the claim that the autopsy somehow suggests that Brown went for the gun, it doesn’t actually support that outcome - because the Baden autopsy indicated a lack of wounds consistent with a struggle. Yes, Brown was shot at close range. He could even have GSR as a result of a close range firing of the gun by Wilson, but that still doesn’t address the justification issue (though that’s what Wilson will claim - he was justified because of some threat Brown posed by walking in the street and being confronted for that act).

The problem here is that Brown showed signs of surrendering after several shots were already fired - that he was no longer a threat to Wilson and the evidence tends to support that outcome. The time line and evidence doesn’t support a justified shooting.

IMO of course.

I don’t see how these autopsy results “support” Wilson’s claim that Mike Brown attacked him. Brown could have easily gotten the same wounds if Dorian Johnson’s account of the struggle is correct.

This whole thing stinks, and now we’re getting “leaks” from a grand jury that’s supposed to be sealed. The fix is in. They’re setting things up to exonerate Darren Wilson, very obviously.

In recent days, they have been a lot of comparisons made between how police reacted to protests in Ferguson and the Pumpkin Fest riots in New Hampshire.

This particular regional story got little (if any) national attention:

8 Arrested Following Post-Game Riots in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, w.va. (AP) — Police say eight people have been arrested and more than two dozen cited following riots that erupted in Morgantown after West Virginia University’s win over Baylor.

Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston says the charges and criminal citations included underage consumption, malicious burning, destruction of property and disorderly conduct.

Preston said Tuesday in a news release that eight police cars belonging to several law enforcement agencies were damaged by rocks, beer bottles and construction debris thrown by rioters. A fire engine and two Morgantown fire marshal vehicles also were damaged.

The university has said any student found to be involved in the incidents will face sanctions, up to and including expulsion.

Earlier story at WSAZ has more information and video.

What a huge difference compared to the other events.

Why do they even want MLK to have been GOP? Their movement hates any version of social change since the 1950’s, glorifies the secessionist side of the Civil War, etc.

MLK (black people generally) had reasons to be quite fond of President Eisenhower; some of that affection spilled over onto Nixon in 1960. Plus, when all those kids got arrested in Alabama on some march and the bail was set ridiculously high… Nelson Rockefeller gave the NAACP a duffel bag full of cash to get them out. (literally. He walked over to the bank with a NYC NAACP guy, started pulling money out of his safe deposit box, asked “will this be enough?” and handed it over.)

It was the Goldwater nomination that soured them on Republicans; Nixon’s southern strategy made it permanent.

Well, who’s the prosecutor going to believe? Some cop or some guy off the street who’s been involved in other crimes? McCullough has already shown a predisposition to not prosecute on excessive force/officer-involved shootings, and Rep. Roorda has done his best to thwart law enforcement officers from being prosecuted too.

Mind you, McCullough could hand down an indictment, and then seat a jury that finds Wilson was justified (not guilty). But we aren’t likely to get to even that stage at this rate.

So, yes, this smacks of having the fix in against handing down an indictment.

That’s what I always heard too. Anyhow, I’ve been reading Nixonland and as I said, the Republicans by and large did everything they could to court the old Dixiecrat vote. Nixon got the support of the Southern Republican delegates by kissing Thurmond’s ass and promising not to enforce civil rights laws. I’ll be further frank here and say that Reagan was closer to George Wallace on civil rights issues than he was MLK as a candidate for California’s governorship and then as governor. The right claims to venerate and honor the memory of MLK now but at the time he was their enemy and they used him as such. The whole right wing backlash of the mid 60’s has a lot of background in GOP politcos taking advantage of middle class whites being angry at the national Democratic party becoming pro civil rights.

“I was not aware in advance that this event was a fundraiser and had I known, I would not have agreed to participate,” Douthat said in the email. “I was invited by an events organizing group, not by ADF directly, and I understood this to be a public conversation about religious liberty. This was my fault for not doing due diligence, and I’ll be declining the honorarium.”

New York Times editorial page editor Andrew Rosenthal did not respond to TPM’s request for comment.

ADF has a long track record of opposing LGBT equality. As documented by the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Arizona-based group even supported a law in Belize that criminalized gay sex.

Douthat appeared at the event alongside conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt and twin brothers David and Jason Benham, whose planned reality show on HGTV was pulled earlier this year over anti-gay remarks.

Loesch is just yet another pathetic and pandering conservative pretending to be a victim. No one is trying to take away anyone’s firearms. Common-sense firearm laws is not confiscation or banishment. Firearm ownership and places one can carry is even less restrictive today than any other time over the last 20 years. Quit whining, you idiots.

Before the civil rights alignment, the GOP was a party that one could have ordinary political disagreements with.

Since then, it’s pretty much been good vs. evil. This business of affirmatively going after the votes of white racists who resented the civil rights legislation is flat-out evil, and has led to innumerable other bits of rot in the Republican party.

The terrorism in Ottawa has shoved Ebola out of the headlines.

Even the Republicans can’t manipulate world events, try as they might.

Two people were killed in Canada in this event; only 1 person from Liberia died in the US from Ebola.

Guns: far more deadly on the North American continent than Ebola. How many other people will die from gun related incidents today?

I not only get hourly panicked emails from local Democrats, I also get them from candidates in other states—some of whom I’ve never even heard of. Let’s see—they want my money in Wisconsin (who is Sue Happ and what is she running for?), Texas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Georgia; not to mention DCCC, DNC, GreenmountainPAC (?), and many others. MASSAGE IS THE DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND!!!

218 Justanotherhuman  Oct 22, 2014 2:28:55pm

Wow, a piss poor week in the medical dept for me.

Well, I found out very clearly how medicine (and Medicare) has become a money game for the medical establishment lately when I was referred to three specialists. The second one I saw Mon and she butchered me, taking tissue samples for biopsy from a very, very sensitive area and still causing pain (it never happened the two times I had it done before). The first referral, to a throat dr, turned out to be a nothing-burger, after a barium test. I cancelled the colonoscopy and endoscope which were also recommended and fired all of them. If my biopsy comes back positive, I’m going to find another gyn, a surgical specialist, not some glorified midwife (doctors around here, no matter what their gender, prefer to deliver babies, nothing else). And bill, bill, bill, for the corporation for which they work. And Medicare, of course, doesn’t cover everything and pays only 80% on those procedures it approves.

Why should I submit to procedures which will result in having to undergo anesthesia 2 times within a very short time frame?

What has happened to diagnostics? It’s all technology, multiple visits and $$$ I don’t have. The drs even want you not to bother them but to go online to check your “record”. So much so that their staff doesn’t return calls and puts you on “hold” without even telling you, in the middle of explaining why you called in the first place. So I fired them. I may be at the mercy of my own body, but I won’t be at theirs.

Basic things:
Brown is a “demoncrat” (as per his Republican opponent’s oh-so-civil-and-adult FB page).
Brown supports medical marijuana.
Brown had a DUI arrest in 2005, but had the charges dismissed in 2006.
