Gohmert! Gay Massages Will Destroy Our Military

Life according to Louie
Wingnuts • Views: 24,670

YouTube

Here he is again, folks, the Dumbest Man in Congress, with a truly crack-brained theory about why gays shouldn’t be allowed to serve in the military: because they’ll be sitting around getting gay massages instead of training for battle.

Louie always comes through with the craziest shit. Never change, Louie!

“I’ve had people say, ‘Hey, you know, there’s nothing wrong with gays in the military. Look at the Greeks,’” he said. “Well, you know, they did have people come along who they loved that was the same sex and would give them massages before they went into battle. But you know what, it’s a different kind of fighting, it’s a different kind of war and if you’re sitting around getting massages all day ready to go into a big, planned battle, then you’re not going to last very long. It’s guerrilla fighting. You are going to be ultimately vulnerable to terrorism and if that’s what you start doing in the military like the Greeks did … as people have said, ‘Louie, you have got to understand, you don’t even know your history.’ Oh yes I do. I know exactly. It’s not a good idea.”

For a moment I thought that was shag carpeting in the background…

Reposting from downstairs:

Updates from Ottawa:

- Canadian authorities still unsure if there was a second shooter or not
- Both deceased soldier and deceased shooter have been identified
- Traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian is starting to move again in downtown, though it’s mainly a one way exodus as not many people want to be in the city centre right now.
- Security operation is continuing as police look to determine with certainty whether or not another shooter is still at large
- Tonight’s NHL game between the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs in Ottawa, has been cancelled.
- Obviously this incident will result in a review of security on Parliament Hill. Senate security guards are typically unarmed. That may change after today.

Future Supreme Court Justice Gohmert under a GOP administration.

I’d also like it known that I am working on a page on the Ottawa incident to be posted later today. I’d like to officially “call dibs” on it as it were. I don’t usually do this but as most of you know Ottawa is my birthplace and hometown so I’d really like to be the one to tell the story.

Gohmert shouldn’t be allowed to serve in the House of Representatives.

What totally gets me about this type of Republican is they say this with no compunction.

And no one publicly laughs at him except maybe for a Stewart or Colbert type, and maybe some club comedians.

So where is someone in Congress that will call this stupidity out? Are they so scared to go after an obvious loon? This makes the whole freaking body of Congress a bad joke.

It all makes it hard to want to vote and partake anymore. Someone please grow a spine and some fucking guts. Call this stupid crap out and make it a career decision as it might cost your’s. Our government is a laughingstock with people like Gohmert involved.

This same line of criticism also extends to moderate Republicans. Pretty much anyone on ‘Team (R)’ is given a pass for any and all lunacy by fellow Republicans.

It is particularly annoying when GOP moderates turn around and say that they themselves aren’t as stupid and evil as Gohmert et al., so stop beating up on us for the sins of others.

That doesn’t work any more. The GOP as a whole is dominated by stupidity and malice. Furthermore, there is no perceptible effort on (or hope for) GOP reform, so the moderates really need to wake up and abandon the GOP en masse. This is by far the fastest way to get back to having a sane center-right party in the US, which is presumably what the GOP moderates want.

Yeah, it’s pretty much like that. The fifth fucking comment in was someone speculating that about how much harassment comes from women attacking other women.

Pointing out that that’s primarily a MRA/MBF response pretty much opened the flood gates. It should be pointed out at no point did I say “All male gamers do this” or anything of the sort.

The whole “Well, yeah, women do bad things, too” response is no different than all of the conservatives and “independents” who go “Well, yeah, Democrats do it, too” defensiveness.

A woman in the gaming industry had a personal relationship with a game reviewer.

Neckbeards responded with a mountain of misogynistic horseshit.

Other women noted this in articles, talking about how the neckbeards made the gaming industry uncomfortable to women.

Neckbeards responded with another mountain of misogynistic horseshit, including rape and death threats, doxing victims and forcing women out of their homes.

More people noted how this is completely unacceptable.

Neckbeards claim they’re being persecuted for their pursuit of ethical journalism.

And that about wraps it up.

The proponents keep insisting they’re trying to restore ethics to video game journalism, which has plagued mankind since the invention of fire. The whole thing started when the unstable ex of a woman developer wrote a post accusing her of sleeping with one or more VG journalists to further her career.

Needless to say, none of this is true. The woman than started getting doxxed, rape threats, and death threats to the point where she fled her home. Other women who spoke out soon got the same treatment.

At some point, people supporting the hashtag “gamer gate” (coined by noted douchenozzle and Firefly star Adam Baldwin) went Full Metal No True Scotsman and insisted that they truly were fighting for ethics in VG journalism and that the slugs making the threats weren’t “true” members in the cause.

Well, my grandson really isn’t that bad, but he’s a gamer (only PT since he’s working FT) and I haven’t even mentioned “gamergate” to him. If everyone is maturing later (so it seems to this old lady), then men are even slower to do so.

But I think I know what his attitude would be since he’s so defensive and still in “male gang” mode; at least it seems that way.

I keep telling him he’ll never meet women acting that way.. : )

Big science news of the day:

Genome sequence of a 45,000-year-old modern human from western Siberia

We present the high-quality genome sequence of a ~45,000-year-old modern human male from Siberia. This individual derives from a population that lived before—or simultaneously with—the separation of the populations in western and eastern Eurasia and carries a similar amount of Neanderthal ancestry as present-day Eurasians. However, the genomic segments of Neanderthal ancestry are substantially longer than those observed in present-day individuals, indicating that Neanderthal gene flow into the ancestors of this individual occurred 7,000-13,000 years before he lived. We estimate an autosomal mutation rate of 0.4 × 10𢄩 to 0.6 × 10𢄩 per site per year, a Y chromosomal mutation rate of 0.7 × 10𢄩 to 0.9 × 10𢄩 per site per year based on the additional substitutions that have occurred in present-day non-Africans compared to this genome, and a mitochondrial mutation rate of 1.8 × 10𢄨 to 3.2 × 10𢄨 per site per year based on the age of the bone.

This significantly narrows the date range of the interbreeding of modern humans with Neanderthals.

Carl Zimmer has a write-up:

Reconstructed Genome of 45,000-Year-Old Man Offers Clues on Modern Humans

The Guardian opts for a more sensationalistic headline:
Ancient human bone helps date our first sex with Neanderthals
… because they know they can get more readers with the word “sex” than using, say, paleogenetics.

The BBC article, which like Zimmer, picks up on the comments by Chris Stringer but claims something different than what Zimmer noted:

Prof Stringer was among those who believed that the first exit by modern humans from Africa that give rise to people outside of Africa today might have happened earlier, possibly 100,000 years ago. The evidence from Prof Paabo’s research is persuading him that it was now much later.

“There is a dispute as to when that “Out of Africa” event happened and this fossil helps to look at that. It is close to the time I think that modern humans exited from Africa and gave rise to the populations in the rest of the world. I think that exit happened 60,000 years ago,” he told BBC News.

Perhaps Stringer was contradicting himself. He’s become the go-to anthropologists for the biggest of media, but I think he’s probably a bit on the outside of this research.

As Zimmer points out, there were other modern humans around at the time, and even earlier, outside of Africa, something the BBC article gets wrong.

The new discovery by Svante et. al. is not dating the emergence of modern humans out of Africa (except that it obviously had to happen before the man lived in Siberia), but rather it is dating how people on the Eurasian continent relate to each other and to the Neanderthals.

In reading some of the articles about the new sequence produced by Paabo et. al. what I find frustrating and saddening is how the authors have to do back-flips to avoid words like “meiosis” and “recombination”.

If only we actually taught science in school….

I know. I read in your post the part about the percentage of neanderthal being the same but the segments being longer in the older DNA, and I thought, “No shit. Ya think?”

Conservative Christians will be treated as second class citizens, much like African Americans were prior to civil rights legislation in the 1960s…

Silver manipulator no more:

Nelson Bunker Hunt dies at 88; oilman once one of world’s richest men

Before there were the Koch bros., there were the Hunt bros.:

[…]

Despite his riches, Hunt lived modestly. He flew coach, wore off-the-rack clothing and drove nondescript cars. Many noted that his personal spending habits were as conservative as his politics, which included a leadership role in the John Birch Society.

Making money, he once said, is “the way you keep score in life, in business.”

If you think the HUMAN diversity stuff ins horseshit, you should see the statements I’ve heard from YECs about, for example, Canid or Felid diversity. You see, there was only ONE species of Felid on the Ark and all the different Felid species DEVOLVED from that one progenitor.

And all in about 4500 years.

But 4,000,000 years is not long enough for humand and chimpanzees to diverge from a common ancestor.

190 freetoken  Oct 22, 2014 5:12:42pm

Oh, I left out the best part:

In a 2009 interview, Hunt family biographer Harry Hurt III said Hunt bought the silver believing that apocalyptic days were coming that would make money useless.

Hunt recovered from bankruptcy, just as many other wildcatters had done before. His share of a family trust was estimated to be about $200 million.

Before there was GOHMERT!, there were the apocalyptic weirdos.

Where the FUCK is the Governor? Where the FUCK are the local politicians?? Where the FUCK are the DOJ??

I know where they are. They are in their bunkers facilitating Darren Wilson’s non indictment and then watching the towns burn. And then when something serious happens, the blame will be set on the protesters and not where is belongs: Ferguson PD, StLc PD, Governor’s office, Mayor’s office, and ultimately the federal government.

The human Y chromosome proves without any doubt that all living males do not descend from one man (Noah.)

The human Y chromosome, even from archaeologically discovered remains that can be dated in a historical framework (i.e., we have records of so-and-so civilization) have differences that cannot be fitted into a few generations.

How We Got Rolled by the Dishonest Fascists of Gamergate
Like them or not, Gawker Media (primarily through Jezebel, Kotaku, and, I believe Gizmodo) have done a pretty good job of covering this.

Last week, a Gawker writer tweeted “bring back bullying.” He, and later I, made the tactical mistake of publicly treating Gamergate with the contempt and flippancy that it deserves. As a consequence, our advertisers were quickly inundated with the same kinds of emails that spooked Intel. Gamergaters were passing around a sample letter (“DO NOT COPY AND PASTE”) and list of advertiser contacts to coordinate the campaign;

I don’t think it’s just Intel. The tech industry, in spite of a few “famous” females who made it in the industry, is rife with sexism.

I mean, is Apple and Facebook, for instance, asking their male employees to freeze their sperm and put off fatherhood, and considering it a “benefit” so they can give the best years of their lives to a corporation?

Of course not. Men are expected to have wives to take care of that aspect of humanity.

Oh, no, I did not mean to imply that Intel was the only company like that, or that tech isn’t rife with sexism.

Personally, I’d be more worried about the heavy bronze armor, bare legs, chariots, and spears going up against IEDs, Jeeps, and assault rifles.

‘Cuz you know how drawing an analogy to the Achaeans of the Iliad (legendary in ferocity as well as bisexuality) means you believe modern gay soldiers are exactly like them!

What’s next, Louie? Dire warnings about gay polytheism, or calls for a Constitutional amendment to prevent The Gheyz from replacing our AEGIS fleet with triremes?
