Jim Hoft Repeats the Right Wing Lie of the Week: That Nurse Kaci Hickox Hid Her CDC Job

Horrible people doing horrible things to decent people

Here we go again, as the Dumbest Man on the Internet, the inestimable Jim Hoft, takes the ball of lies inflated by Chuck C. Johnson and runs with it: BREAKING: Ebola Nurse’s Ties to CDC Scrubbed From Website - Is Far Left Progressive & Obama Supporter | the Gateway Pundit.

(Ever notice that everything is always “breaking” at Hoft’s idiotic site?)

Hoft is calling nurse Kaci Hickox a “far left progressive” because she registered as a Democrat and supported Obama for President. Which makes more than half the country “far left progressives” in Jim’s benighted brain.

But what he’s really trying to sell in this typically deceptive post is that Hickox is trying to hide her employment at the CDC. Why would anyone do that? It’s a good thing to work for the CDC, not a bad thing. But in the universe of the DMOTI, everything becomes a conspiracy.

Hoft makes a big deal out of the fact that Ms Hickox deleted her LinkedIn account. And it’s true, she did. Now why would she do that?

The answer is appallingly obvious: because people like Jim Hoft and Chuck C. Johnson and their legion of mouth-breathing swivel-eyed loons are stealing her photos and scouring her Internet history for something to twist and distort and smear her with.

So Kaci Hickox deleted her LinkedIn account to protect herself against these horrible people’s dishonest attacks — and then they dishonestly attack her for deleting it.

I’d advise any health worker, especially those who work with the CDC or Doctors Without Borders, to delete their social media accounts, at least until this craziness subsides. Right wingers are stalking them, and they have a right to protect themselves as much as possible.

Hoft also repeats Chuck C. Johnson’s outright lie that Hickox didn’t disclose her CDC connection in her op-ed for the Dallas Morning News, which we already showed was completely false; in fact, it was disclosed in the very first paragraph of that article, and it’s also been disclosed in many other places.

Nobody is trying to hide this. But right wing bloggers are flat out lying about it, because they know the dumbed-down masses of Fox News viewers won’t even bother to check before spreading the lies.

Jim Hoft and his ilk are no better than smut peddlers. Seeing the daily insanity emanating from deadbolts like him and the support he garners from the right wing makes me wonder why the GOP may gain in the mid terms. Apparently lies, hate, pandering and deceit work. Or we as a nation are a lot more stupid than we think. Maybe both.

Tell us how you really feel Charles about these knuckled dragging troglodytes who befoul the internet with conspiracy theories, junk science, and BS heaped atop BS, to the point where even Gunnery Sergeant Hartman is incredulous as to how Hoft, Chuck, and their followers were able to stack shit so high.

Between her career as a nurse and EIS experience, Hickox has contributed more to mankind than UpChuck and DimJIm combined.

No offense, Charles, but I’m not sure this lie eclipses Christie’s lies about Hickox being symptomatic or that he didn’t change his quarantine policy at all.

Matt Taibbi Disappears From Omidyar’s First Look Media

Matt Taibbi, the star magazine writer hired earlier this year to start a satirical website for billionaire Pierre Omidyar’s First Look Media, has taken a leave of absence from the company after disagreements with higher-ups inside Omidyar’s organization, a source close to First Look confirmed today.

Taibbi’s abrupt disappearance from the company’s Fifth Avenue headquarters has cast doubt on the fate of his highly anticipated digital publication, reportedly to be called Racket, which First Look executives had previously said would launch sometime this autumn.

Excellent editorial from the New England Journal of Medicine:

Ebola and Quarantine

The governors of a number of states, including New York and New Jersey, recently imposed 21-day quarantines on health care workers returning to the United States from regions of the world where they may have cared for patients with Ebola virus disease. We understand their motivation for this policy — to protect the citizens of their states from contracting this often-fatal illness. This approach, however, is not scientifically based, is unfair and unwise, and will impede essential efforts to stop these awful outbreaks of Ebola disease at their source, which is the only satisfactory goal. The governors’ action is like driving a carpet tack with a sledgehammer: it gets the job done but overall is more destructive than beneficial.

Another part of the NEJM piece deserves emphasis:

Médecins sans Frontières, the World Health Organization, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and many other organizations say we need tens of thousands of additional volunteers to control the epidemic. We are far short of that goal, so the need for workers on the ground is great. These responsible, skilled health care workers who are risking their lives to help others are also helping by stemming the epidemic at its source. If we add barriers making it harder for volunteers to return to their community, we are hurting ourselves.

The people attacking these volunteers are making the world safe for Ebola. They’re helping its spread by stabbing the backs of those who fight it. They form the disease’s Fifth Column.

So I’ve been in product training for the new sales team I’m on. Did a whole day yesterday. Took a test this morning to see what I know and what I don’t know.

The technical details and product defintions were a breeze. Some of the customer centric questions are iffy depending on whether or not my boss likes how I would explain things to a customer. The questions I know that I goofed on were price points, since there were a lot of them and a lot of different combinations I was being asked about.

It’s the suspense that gets me. I’m waiting for him to tell me how I did. I’m basically sitting here in my cube on the internet while everyone around me is working. Blah.

Project Veritas claims another victory:

The undercover video comes from Project Veritas, which is led by group James O’Keefe - the activist whose undercover videos have caused serious headaches for ACORN, NPR and other groups. It shows a Project Veritas “investigator” telling Patrick Moran that he has a friend who is seeking to “get in a van” and vote on behalf of about 100 people. Patrick Moran responds with skepticism, but is later shown saying the person voting on behalf of others could potentially use “utility bills or something like that.”

Since the ‘nuts like to bitch about important government oversight agencies like the EPA, CDC, FDA and others I think I have come up with a product they might all enjoy.

Non-Government approved water. Sold in glass gallon jugs. Dark glass gallon jugs.

Why dark glass you say? Well, it’s so laden with chemicals and diseases plastic would not be able to hold it! And dark glass because it really is not that appealing to look at. Sort of like a smoothie…but no fruity fruit and vegetables involved. 100% recycled industrial goop.

Just think of the benefits. A way for companies to recycle raw sewage, chemicals, medical waste…all the really good stuff the ‘nuts seem to think the government is depriving them from enjoying.

And it is a dumb product. Dumb is good right? ‘Nuts seem to like dumb stuff that is not controlled by the government.

It’d be real cheap. 50 cents a gallon, mostly to cover the glass jugs.

Be sure to constantly stir it up though, it does tend to settle and if you get too much of the sludge it might cause burns to the mouth and other vital organs. But hey, who cares…it’s cheap and you are telling the government where to go with their expensive clean water.

Add a nice label image of Sarah Palin pouring heaping glasses of it for her family to enjoy. That would sell. Truth in advertising.

Frack brand Freedumb Water®

Yum. For starters it could be bottled in Texas right next to all the petrochemical plants where a good portion of it will be processed from the contributions of those plants. Bottling companies could be opened in all major cities. Plenty of raw product to process into Freedumb Water® ANd Texan ‘nuts love them some freedumb and ignoring government agencies.

Drink up. And tell the EPA, FDA and the CDC to go to hell…you are a Freedumb Water® drinker, not a koolaide drinking liberal.

I mean, seriously, how can DC not get Wonder Woman into her own movie, let alone a tv show? I get the feeling that movie’s going to get utterly savaged at the box office and in reviews. Cramming that many major characters into a single film with no build-up is just going to be utter chaos and reduce major characters into two-dimensional ones.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie practically dared a nurse to sue him for quarantining her even after she tested negative for Ebola. “Whatever. That’s been painfully obvious for a long time. Marvel used to be like DC, selling off movie rights hither and yon and not really being good stewards of what they had. Then they got bought by Disney and the days of making a quick buck off selling movie rights turned into long-term plans for “phases” that involved smaller films that built up to a major blockbuster. DC tried something similar, but Green Lantern bombed badly, so they figure they’ll jump skip the build-up and try to go straight for the major blockbuster.

I mean, seriously, how can DC not get Wonder Woman into her own movie, let alone a tv show? And I just loved the not quite subtle swipe at DC in the episode Agents of Shield where Adrianne Palicki (who had been lined up by DC to play the Amazon Queen herself) jumped from a building into an invisible jet.

Actually, A WB-confirmed DC movie lineup was released a while back, listing a Wonder Woman standalone apparently with Gal Gadot for the lead):
May 2016 - Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice
August 2106 - Suicide Squad (not a clue as to what that is)
June 2017 - Wonder Woman
December 2017 - Justice League Part 1 (surprise surprise, they’re splitting it)
2018 - The Flash and Aquaman
2019 - Justice League Part 2
2020 - Green Lantern (a reboot)

And on the topic of Agents of Shield, I’m surprised at how great it’s gotten seeing how the first season took so long to take off (a result of the show having to wait until Captain America 2 was released, as it tied in such a big way with events on the show). It’s also been hinted that characters from the show will wind up in the next Avengers movie in some capacity.

DC seems to be focusing more on the small screen. With Arrow, The Flash, Constantine, and Gotham.

I really like Arrow, we’ll see how the rest of them do.

110 lawhawk  Oct 28, 2014 12:31:50pm

GOPers don’t trust doctors, so they’re hoping for generals to back them up on positions that aren’t based in health policy, sound medical practices, and that’s extremely troubling.

It’s about being seen as leaders, not as people who actually know what they’re talking about.

Yes, we need the military to do the lifting and logistics to get health care workers to fight the outbreak in Africa. Yes, we need even those doctors and experts from the military to deal with the outbreak.

But Gen. Honoré is an Army Corps of Engineers guy - not with USAMRIID. Other generals who have come forward with statements about Ebola aren’t any more of a medical expert than Gov. Christie, but the right wing flocks to their opinions because it’s the guy with the medals and stars on their uniform.

Someone can be an expert on logistics and know nothing of tactics. The same goes with how to deal with an outbreak of a virulent disease. The GOP and right wing has an aversion to health experts - and instead treat their statements with disdain or outright ignorance.

The TV stuff is interesting, but I haven’t seen too much of Arrow or Flash to really judge them. I do like the bits I’ve seen, though.

The most interesting DC stuff for me is the Penguin character on Gotham. I swear they’re going to retcon the character in the comics to look, speak, and move like the TV actor. It’s going to happen.

What I always liked about the trilogy is that Nolan strived for realism, tried to make it seem as if his version of Batman could be a real person rather than a mythological being. The same approach was only of mild success with Man of Steel.

But this film? DC wants to lay the groundwork for its own multi-hero franchise, but it doesn’t want to take the risk of one or more films failing at the box office. Thing is, most folks don’t know that Marvel was actually gambling with Iron Man. They threw the Nick Fury cameo in after the credits as a sequel hook, with no guarantee there would even be a sequel.

That’s roughly the discussion point of when revolution is justified.

Necessity is probably a spectrum depending on the width and depth of the corruption; a locality, a state, a nation, or just a particular sub-system?

And lurking in the background is that most revolutions tend to get out of hand and often do not lead to the imagined utopia since once that genie is let loose it is easily appealed to again and again by those grossly interested in personal power and advantage without worrying about integrity or character.

That is the utilitarian answer that matters most, of course.

My thinkng is that progressive revolts (mostly unarmed but not always) have been crushed with overwhelming police and military force here in the United States in the past.

So conversely, when Jefferson and Lincoln both mention the “revolutionary right” to disember a tyranical government, was there ever any substance to that? Does our current system of government rely on some degree of armed intimidation?

Avoiding that is the real trick.

All the government systems essentially rely on the government having a monopoly on legal threat of armed coercion.

Pretty much the definition of government. In our system we get to chose the intimidators and the degree to which they should be ‘benign’.

Five criminal cases have been dismissed so far because the primary witness, Officer Darren Wilson, failed to show up in court. Ed Magee, a spokesman for the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney has told the press that no action will be taken against Wilson because ” “We don’t get people in trouble for not showing up for court,”

All the government systems essentially rely on the government having a monopoly on legal threat of armed coercion.

Which leads to Rousseaus famous paradox of democracy vs natural rights of the individual.

In his view (and he has not been disproven by any means) you will either end up with an austere democracy where the general will of the people does reflect each and every member since all the participants have been socialized to such a degree that dissent is simply impossible…

Or you get a Hobbesian despotism where the passions of the mob are controlled by force if necessary but otherwise the government tries to more or less provide for the common good to some degree.

In the first, the rights of the individual have no conflict with the rights of the state.

In the second, the state simply does not give a shit.

The issue is becoming moot, kneecapped by the technology of intelligence gathering and overwhelming firepower. The ol’ barricades aren’t going to cut it any more. The only hope for an insurrection is to co-opt the police and military or find ‘outside’ patrons. That’s why the Oafkeeper nutcases are such a real (but tiny) threat.

I’m certain that there are any number of civilians in St. Louis County who would disagree with Magee’s statement. Here in California, judges can and will fuck you over for not appearing for jury duty.

Yes. Which carries with it (along with the murders) indicates that the St Louis County justice system is very broken. And it is unlikely that neither the county government nor the state government will do much about it in at least the short term. And there will also be resistance towards the Federal government attempting coercion towards a fix as well.

Is violence and rioting justified in this case? I would say not. There is still time, means, and grounds to organize and attempt to tear up and rebuild the system through the electoral system. However, I expect emotionalism and rage to rule instead since that appears to better fit the usual human reaction set.

Fines levied on the poor for failing to appear in court seem to be a major source of municipal revenue in parts of St. Louis county.

Given that sad fact, it is beyond ludicrous for St. Louis authorities to spout drivel about ‘we don’t punish people for failing to appear in court’.

Local, sporadic, violence that leaves the existing structure in place is just street theatre. For the most part it just hardens and excuses further abuse. It’s wrong because it doesn’t work.

I’d say its more of a certainty. In any case, the issue of whether or not conservatives get to define who count as ‘people’ was thoroughly considered from 1860-1865.
