Glenn Greenwald on “The Last Word:” Canadian Attacks Weren’t Terrorism

Because Canada was asking for it by being a war-mongering country
WTF • Views: 35,806

Video

Here’s the Mighty Glenn Greenwald on the Lawrence O’Donnell show, explaining that in his view the attacks in Canada last week were not terrorism — but on the other hand, the US and Canada and Israel (he’s obsessed with Israel) are always committing terrorist acts.

I think that’s a fair description of his viewpoints. See what you think.

What if a gang from the favelas climbed up the verdant throbbing jungle mountaintop, invaded the luxurious lair and took Glenn hostage? Would he say he deserved it or that it was Obama’s fault?

FTC Says AT&T Has Misled Millions of Consumers with ‘Unlimited’ Data Promises

The Federal Trade Commission filed a federal court complaint against AT&T Mobility, LLC, charging that the company has misled millions of its smartphone customers by charging them for “unlimited” data plans while reducing their data speeds, in some cases by nearly 90 percent.

The FTC’s complaint alleges that the company failed to adequately disclose to its customers on unlimited data plans that, if they reach a certain amount of data use in a given billing cycle, AT&T reduces - or “throttles” - their data speeds to the point that many common mobile phone applications - like web browsing, GPS navigation and watching streaming video - become difficult or nearly impossible to use.

“AT&T promised its customers ‘unlimited’ data, and in many instances, it has failed to deliver on that promise,” said FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez. “The issue here is simple: ‘unlimited’ means unlimited.”

According to the FTC’s complaint, AT&T’s marketing materials emphasized the “unlimited” amount of data that would be available to consumers who signed up for its unlimited plans. The complaint alleges that, even as unlimited plan consumers renewed their contracts, the company still failed to inform them of the throttling program. When customers canceled their contracts after being throttled, AT&T charged those customers early termination fees, which typically amount to hundreds of dollars.

The FTC alleges that AT&T, despite its unequivocal promises of unlimited data, began throttling data speeds in 2011 for its unlimited data plan customers after they used as little as 2 gigabytes of data in a billing period. According to the complaint, the throttling program has been severe, often resulting in speed reductions of 80 to 90 percent for affected users. Thus far, according to the FTC, AT&T has throttled at least 3.5 million unique customers a total of more than 25 million times.

For those who missed the connection, the Mia Love love is also a Mitt-love arch-meme.

There is, and has been since the day he lost to Obama, an effort to position Mitt Romney as the next sure thing, and that he was really right in what he said in his race for President.

So just like Hillary supporting candidates in hopes of building a Dem coalition, Mitt supports Mia Love in the hopes she will not only win but do what she promises (break up the black caucus in the Congress.)

Mia will probably win, and that will be used as a sign by the Mitt Machine that Mitt will be the only logical choice for the 2016 nomination.

This is why I keep leaning towards Internet access becoming a utility, like gas heat and water. I realize there’s all sorts of pitfalls with that idea, but Internet access has long since ceased being a luxury in modern America.

It’s such a bullshit Catch 22. Camden, NJ and parts of Philly are prime examples: huge swatches of both cities of digital deserts. You need conveinient Internet access in order to get an education and a job; but it’s still considered a “luxury”, so tough shit for you if you have no access.

Regarding the Greenwald on O’ Donnell’s show video, seems to me Greenwald goes into deflection as soon as his mouth opens.

He makes the claim terrorist experts have no settled definition of the word terrorism and makes some snark comments that people paid by the government (other journalists?) apparently aren’t experts.

So, big question I have is, if his acknowledged experts have no definitions, then what is the big problem with the way the word is used by other media, the governments, etc.?

Oh…it doesn’t fit Greenwald’s definition.

And then he goes on to make the statement to the effect if the word means anything it should mean what Greenwald wants and that is it has to be “the targeting of civilians” to scare them regarding what their government does.

How big of him!

Just think of all the incidents no longer considered terror attacks under this new definition. The attack on the USS Cole (by the “wrongly” defined terrorist organization al Qaeda), The Marine Barracks in Lebanon. Any bombing in another country against US soldiers that also killed innocent actual civilians. And, I am sure there are many more.

When is the “Glenn Greenwald Unabridged Dictionary of Word Definitions Glenn Greenwald Considers Legitimate for Use - Collegiate Edition” come out?

All bow down to the great Greenwald.

This is the Santorum equivalency: they are all the same because they are all abominations unto The Lord.

There are two parts of terrorism: the terror and the organized motive by a group, whether a state or a cult. While this obviously caused terror, what still needs to be verified is, was it done on orders from someone? Or was it the classic “lone wolf”? I don’t believe the average right-winger who ambushes cops after he calls 911 — actual case — is actually taking orders from anyone.

Somebody goes nuts driven by the voices in his head and kills. Terrorism? No, it’s not directed towards a political result.

How about if the person is being radicalized by contact with terrorist organization propaganda online as is purportedly the case here?
