Lord Monckton the Birther: Support Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Congressional Investigation

Congress must investigate the birth certificate!
Wingnuts • Views: 32,451

Did you know that Lord Christopher Monckton, known around LGF as the Original Swivel-Eyed Loon for his long history of obtuse, deceptive climate change denialism, his frequent appearances on the Alex Jones show, and his testimony to the House Energy Independence and Global Warming Commitee as the Republican Party’s sole expert witness in 2010, is also a Birther?

Big time.

Today he has a piece appealing to the odd people who read World Net Daily to support Arizona’s Birther law enforcement official, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, that actually makes one fear for his sanity: For Sheriff Joe, the Clock Is Ticking.

One of the many dismal failures of the GOP since 2008 has been its failure to get to grips with the birth certificate issue.

The reason for the Republicans’ cowardice was very clearly spelled out to me by a senior and experienced GOP congressman over dinner at my club in Washington, D.C., a couple of years ago. “We all know the birth certificate is bogus,” he said, “but we also know that anyone who dares to raise the issue will have his or her reputation trashed by the communist left.”

In my assessment, it is only when the GOP commands both the Senate and the House that it may find what in English we should call the cojones to do something about the birth certificate.

[… crazy ranting …]

If the GOP wins the Senate, and even if it does not win the Senate, let it at last find the guts to do what it should have done long before now. Let it say yes to Sheriff Joe’s request that it should initiate a congressional investigation of this affair. And let the states’ attorneys general of Hawaii and Arizona step down. They should be ashamed of themselves.

They are not fit to hold office. Let theirs, together with that of the head of the Secret Service, be the first of countless heads that must roll throughout the governing class to root out the corruption of which the flagrantly bogus “birth certificate” is an enduring and disfiguring symbol. Enough is enough. It is time for Uncle Sam - and the GOP - to find the cojones to act.

Yes, by all means. Let’s have Sheriff Joe explain why he spent $40K in taxpayer money to send a bunch of his supporters on a trip to Hawaii, instead of, ohhhhh, fighting crime in Arizona?

Ben Shapiro has been totally fapping over Lena Dunham’s memoir.

I suspect that Lena Dunham made shit up. I don’t believe it is possible for a 1-year-old to do what she claims her sister did.

“We all know the birth certificate is bogus,” he said, “but we also know that anyone who dares to raise the issue will have his or her reputation trashed by the communist left.”

It’s easy to dismiss Monckton, Arpaio, WND etc as a lunatic fringe but this would be a mistake. Lunatic they are, fringe they are not, as Monckton’s congressional testimony and Arpaio’s enormous popularity with the base amply demonstrate. I wouldn’t doubt, therefore, that a GOP congress-critter would say this to him. None, of course, would actually believe it since they are much too familiar with the media to entertain such a notion.

The matter of Barry Soetoro’s birth is beside the point now. Hillary was the one who got this all started in 2008, it didn’t go anywhere then, and its distracting now. If Lord Monckton wants to shine the light of truth into a matter that’s going to affect the midterms, he’d do better by focusing on the massive voter fraud machinery the Democrats have perfected and intend on using.

I saw a variation of this from one of the few RWNJs in my Facebook feed this morning. “CUOMO NEEDS TO GO!” was the headline. Why? Because Cuomo met with Hasidic rabbis in Rockland County on the campaign trail to try to solicit votes from their communities. This differs from appearing at the local VFW to solicit votes….how, exactly? The antisemitism was strong with this one.

I think there was recently a case in New Mexico or Arizona where someone came in to vote and was told he had already voted. The earlier signature didn’t match. There was nothing in the article to indicate whether this was a Rep. or Dem.

Then there was the Rep. who claimed to have voted multiple times.
And claims of fraud, many, many unsubstantiated claims. They need to be investigated, of course, but actual fraud is incredibly rare.

So yeah. Rampant fraud. All the Dems….

It’s just as bad as getting hacked Sharyl Atkisson delete-key style.

Hey! I had my computer hacked in exactly that way last night!!! (actually true)
There I was typing an email when suddenly letters were deleted back one by one. If it weren’t for Sharyl Atkisson’s brave exposé I wouldn’t have realized it was evil forces trying to prevent me from answering someone’s question. Fortunately I was able to hit the magic “return” key and it stopped. Why? I don’t have a clue. But it worked.

re: #61 Targetpractice

Nor can this widespread voter fraud ever actually be proven. Sort of like how there’s thousands of “dead voters,” who mysteriously vanish once anyone actually investigates the claims.

In South Carolina, our reps actually call them ZOMBIE VOTERS (yeah, pity me—Alan Clemmons is my rep.)

Rep. Alan Clemmons, the chief supporter of the photo ID law, declared that “we must have certainty in South Carolina that zombies aren’t voting.”

But there was one little problem: Of the names that Elections Director Marci Andino was shown, not a single one was a dead voter. Some weren’t actually dead; others didn’t vote… Eighteen long months later, it turns out that he, and the alarmist politicians who swallowed his claims whole, did just that.

I’ll refer you (notice how I’m not the one who engages in name calling here” to two books: John Funds “Stealing Elections” and Christian Adams “Injustice”. There’s a whole host of methods the left employes for their ends. One of them, send out absentee ballots to people who never asked for them. Then, send a Democratic operative out to where the absentee ballot arrived and “help” them fill out the ballot. Many times, they don’t even do that, they just swipe the ballot and fill it out themselves. Of course Eric Holder is not concerned about this, nor is he concerned about the over one million registered voters, according to an Old Dominion Survey, who are not citizens, they nearly all favor Democrats and its not in his interest to dos.

Voting machine again displays wrong choice

GREENSBORO — Another Guilford County voter has reported having problems casting a vote for a U.S. Senate candidate.

Percy Bostick, 69, of Greensboro said he tried casting a vote for Democrat Kay Hagan at the Old Guilford County Courthouse, only to have the machine register Republican Thom Tillis as his choice.

“I called one of the poll workers over,” Bostick said. “She said do it again. And again, I touched the screen at the proper place for Kay Hagan, and it again reported it for Thom Tillis.”

On his fourth attempt, the machine registered the vote for Hagan. Another poll worker decided to cancel the ballot altogether and directed Bostick to an adjacent machine, where he was able to cast his ballot without any issues.

The problematic machine was taken out of service

On Wednesday, another voter had reported a similar problem at the Craft Recreation Center. In that case, the voter also tried selecting Hagan but saw the machine had recorded him as choosing Tillis.

He also was moved to another machine, which registered his selections without any problem.

Charlie Collicutt, Guilford County elections director, said his office has received 14 reports of voting problems since early voting started Oct. 23, including seven from people who became concerned after they got home.

Bad news… let me count the ways:

Disentangling the effects of CO2 and short-lived climate forcer mitigation

Anthropogenic global warming is driven by emissions of a wide variety of radiative forcers ranging from very short-lived climate forcers (SLCFs), like black carbon, to very long-lived, like CO2. These species are often released from common sources and are therefore intricately linked. However, for reasons of simplification, this CO2-SLCF linkage was often disregarded in long-term projections of earlier studies. Here we explicitly account for CO2-SLCF linkages and show that the short- and long-term climate effects of many SLCF measures consistently become smaller in scenarios that keep warming to below 2 °C relative to preindustrial levels. Although long-term mitigation of methane and hydrofluorocarbons are integral parts of 2 °C scenarios, early action on these species mainly influences near-term temperatures and brings small benefits for limiting maximum warming relative to comparable reductions taking place later. Furthermore, we find that maximum 21st-century warming in 2 °C-consistent scenarios is largely unaffected by additional black-carbon-related measures because key emission sources are already phased-out through CO2 mitigation. Our study demonstrates the importance of coherently considering CO2-SLCF coevolutions. Failing to do so leads to strongly and consistently overestimating the effect of SLCF measures in climate stabilization scenarios. Our results reinforce that SLCF measures are to be considered complementary rather than a substitute for early and stringent CO2 mitigation. Near-term SLCF measures do not allow for more time for CO2 mitigation. We disentangle and resolve the distinct benefits across different species and therewith facilitate an integrated strategy for mitigating both short and long-term climate change.

Brooks Brothers riot

Hundreds of “paid GOP crusaders” descended upon South Florida to protest the state’s recounts,[1] with at least half a dozen of the demonstrators at Miami-Dade paid by George W. Bush’s recount committee.[2] Several of these protesters were identified as Republican staffers and a number later went on to jobs in the Bush administration.[3]

The “Brooks Brothers” name reinforces the allegation that the protesters, in corporate attire, sporting “Hermès ties”[4] were astroturfing, as opposed to local citizens concerned about counting practices.

The demonstration was organized by Republican operatives, sometimes referred to as the “Brooks Brothers Brigade”,[5] to oppose the recount of 10,750 ballots during the Florida recount. The canvassers decided to move the counting process to a smaller room and restrict media access to 25 feet away while they continued. At this time, New York Rep. John Sweeney told an aide to “Shut it down.”[2][4] The demonstration turned violent, and according to the NY Times, “several people were trampled, punched or kicked when protesters tried to rush the doors outside the office of the Miami-Dade supervisor of elections. Sheriff’s deputies restored order.” DNC aide Luis Rosero was kicked and punched. Within two hours after the riot died down, the canvassing board unanimously voted to shut down the count, in part due to perceptions that the process wasn’t open or fair, and in part because the court-mandated deadline was impossible to meet.[6][7][8]

JOHN CHRISTY, climate scientist at University of Alabama, Huntsville, and former IPCC author who is skeptical of mainstream science’s claim that global warming is a major problem:

“Something needs to change as these reports are biased and out-of-date by the time they are released. The system now gives almost complete control of the text to authors who have been selected by their politically-aware governments to write it and who do not reflect the enormous ignorance we still have of the climate system.”

When Conspiracy Theories Don’t Fit the Media Narrative

The most common press narrative for elections this year is to contrast them with the 2010 and 2012 campaigns…It is a great narrative, a wonderful organizing theme. But any evidence that contradicts or clouds the narrative devalues it, which is perhaps why evidence to the contrary tends to be downplayed or ignored…

What it suggests is how deeply the eagerness to pick a narrative and stick with it, and to resist stories that contradict the narrative, is embedded in the culture of campaign journalism. The alternative theory, that the Republican establishment won by surrendering its ground to its more ideologically extreme faction, picking candidates who are folksy and have great resumes but whose issue stances are much the same as their radical Tea Party rivals, goes mostly ignored.

WTF is wrong with AP?

Same thing that has been wrong since Ron Fournier was there:

When Clinton was elected President, Fournier moved to the AP’s Washington bureau.

Fournier first left the AP in 2004 to take a Harvard Institute of Politics fellowship…Fournier returned to the AP in March 2007 as its Online Political Editor, after considering “a senior advisory role” with Republican Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign.

In May 2008, Fournier was named the acting Washington bureau chief.. Since taking over the position, Fournier has led a dramatic shift in the AP’s policy, moving it away from the neutral and objective tone it had become known for and toward a more opinionated style that would make judgments when conflicting opinions were presented in a story.

He left AP in 2010, but his legacy lives on…

Monckton by the way was the direct inspiration for much of the anti gay persecution depicted in V for Vendetta. In the 80’s while serving as an advisor to Thatcher he advocated that the entire population of the US and Britain be blood tested every month for HIV, and that anybody testing positive should be removed and permanently isolated from general society. To this day he maintains that this proposal would have been a good idea and would hve worked at the time. This proposal horrified Alan Moore, and along with other anti gay measures at the time such as Section 28 eventually influenced the final chapters of V.

[ A background review of post Civil War politics…]

In this era of public apathy, of sordid politics, and of mediocre statesmen, the industrial brigand tied himself to the dominant party and was given a free field. The unlovely history of many a “big business,” builded upon special privilege and political corruption and the cynical wrecking of small business enterprise [Walmart anyone?], was all too common in the last quarter of the nineteenth century; and when the public conscience began to stir in the ‘nineties it was confronted with the amazing fact that in this land of democracy and equal opportunity a large proportion of the wealth of the country was in the hands of a relatively small part of the population, and that an industrial and financial mechanism had been constructed through which the magnates of business could exercise a dangerous influence upon the lives and fortunes of the people.

For many years the people had watched with complacent satisfaction the marvelous development of big business. They congratulated themselves and the country on the admirable results of “individual initiative,” and exhibited an attitude of indifference, or even of hostility, toward the efforts of the industrial workers to obtain, through unions and by means of strikes, a fair wage and decent conditions of living. They said that these were “un-American” methods; attempts to restrict the freedom of the individual to work for whom he pleased, and under such conditions as he might choose; and they were rather pleased than otherwise when the great corporations, no doubt in order to preserve a free field for “individual initiative,” employed private detectives and private military forces to break up the strikes and destroy the effectiveness of labor-unions.

Speaking of today’s troll, and the AP, he missed this talking point:

New Emails Show White House Role In Shirley Sherrod Resignation

A 2010 email from Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says his department was “waiting for the go-ahead” from the White House before accepting the resignation of employee Shirley Sherrod, according to newly released documents, despite Obama administration assertions that her ouster was Vilsack’s decision alone.

The email, which was made public Friday in an ongoing federal court case over the matter, shed more light on the evening of July 19, 2010, when the USDA hastily asked Sherrod to resign after a video showing her making supposed racist remarks surfaced on a conservative website. Her dismissal turned into a racial firestorm after it became clear that the video had been edited and her remarks were meant to tell a story of reconciliation.

[…]

The actual story itself is not as damning as the AP headline implies. Just because Vilsack sent an email saying he was waiting for a reply doesn’t mean that the idea was initiated by the WH, just that Vilasack wanted the WH to reply.

But the AP - they are getting better at clickbait.

This Lena Dunham story is very very weird. I have a hard time believing she did not just make it up.

The guys were expecting the usual hat or maybe a t-shirt.
The overnight bag is very nice.

I asked if he was going to give it to me and he said, “well…if you really want it…”

heh.

The overnight bag was a message: “We expect you to stay here until all Teh Electrics are back on!”

Speaking of which, the lights keep flickering. I will have to give DTE a call tomorrow.

This Lena Dunham story is very very weird. I have a hard time believing she did not just make it up.

I vividly remember an episode when I was about5- 6 and there were about 5 or 6 of us, boys and girls, doing the “show me yours and I’ll show you mine” routine, and I even touched one boy’s penis, pushing back the foreskin, since I had never seen one.

That’s not molestation. Kids are curious about each other’s “private parts”.

Let it go, Lena.

And I had almost forgotten about him. I wonder how many Americans know who he is.

Conrad Black deserves to be better known. After all, it takes truly rare talent for an executive at a US company to find a compensation scheme that is actually illegal under US law.

Well, looks like UpChuck tried to send his flying monkey army after me and wheatdogg a few hours back.

I got nothing. If his phalanx of phalangists were following his lead, my email box would be stuffed to alerts from Twitter. I don’t think Chuckles has as obedient an army as he thinks.

I still think it’s pretty amazing that the self-styled “Tea Party” venerates a mentally-disturbed British aristocrat.
