The Final Word on Jim Hoft’s “Fractured Eye Socket” Hoax

Vindication for LGF
US News • Views: 36,895

If he has even a shred of integrity Jim Hoft will finally retract his bogus claims about Darren Wilson’s “fractured eye socket,” but I don’t expect him to do that. These photos of Wilson from the grand jury evidence are the final word on this dishonest story.

BTW, when I tell you that my nephew actually looks a LOT like Mike Brown, so I can’t even really look at the pictures of him and NOT see my nephew, same coloring, same build, even same fat cheeks (I used to squeeze them when he was younger).

So yeah, excuse me if I’m not as willing as others to joke or be snarky about this whole mess or not emotional.

I am literally wondering what type of conversations my sister has had with him and hoping that they will be enough and feeling that it never will be.

Cue the RW blaming this on Obama, since he said something about it. Doesn’t matter what he said, just that he said something that can be twisted to sound racist (if you’re a moron).

Some white paranoiacs will use this as a pretext to discuss the upcoming “race wars” or some other such nonsense. Fact is, the US hasn’t had a really big race riot in over 20 years…the last one was L.A. 1992 following the Rodney King verdict, which also involved excessive force used by white cops against an unarmed black man. Just like the ‘65 Watts riots…and several others. There’s a pattern here. Riots don’t occur in a vacuum. There’s a precursor—usually a violent, unjust act. Like in Ferguson, like with Rodney King, etc.

Yes…but the situation had been building for years. I lived there at the time, and entire areas of Southern California were no-go zones if you were black.

Dead effing serious. There were malls you could not go to. Beaches. You name it.

Then, you had the LAPD CAMP raids every week that used “carpets up and walls down” methods to destroy every house they went into on the pretext of looking for drugs.

One infamous incident that made local news was when the LAPD went into an apartment complex and destroyed every unit. Sledgehammers through the walls, through TV sets, through fish tanks and all the doors busted in.

All the clothing in every apt was taken out and doused with bleach to destroy it.

No drugs or suspects found…and the Red Cross had to be called to provide emergency clothing and lodging for the victims.

This is the attitude that led to the riots.

Had it been a black cop killing a young white man in the exact same circumstances, I have no doubt the cop would have been put on administrative leave within a couple of hours, stripped of his badge with a day or two, and McCulloch would have fell over himself and working within the grand jury within a week or two to return an indictment ASAP.

The hole measures 10 mm 8 mm. It is round with level edges. The edges focally show an abrasion ring measuring up to 1 mm in greatest dimension and is most prominent near the superior edge of the wound. No powder stipple is identifed. No soot is identified. The wound track shows deeper hemorrhage. A bullet, seen on x-rays, is found within the soft tissue of the right face and is recovered and submitted as evidence. There is internal beveling of the defect in the parietal bone of the skull. Evaluation of this wound indicates that it is an entrance wound. The path of this shot is downward and rightward. The track of this bullet has been traced to pass via the scalp, soft tissue, parietal bone of the skull, right parietal lobe of the brain, right temporal lobe of the brain, right temporal bone of the skull to rest within the soft tissue of the lateral right face. Passage of the bullet
through the head created fractures of the calvarial and basilar bones of the skull. Pneumocephalus is present (confirmed on post-mortem x-ray examination). Subdural and subarachnoid hemorrhage is present on the
convexities of the brain. There are small, punctate contusions present within the white matter of the brain near the path of the gunshot injury. The gunshot injury path, through the brain, is approximately 12 cm in length.

You should be able to run this through google as well.

re: #93 Aunty Entity Dragon

Spot on. That fascist Chief Daryl Gates led our city’s PD for 20 years, and he was trained and put in place by other racist hypermacho scum.

When cops in Detroit fucked up and dropped an incendiary device on an apt bldg, most people in law enforcement were horrified because it killed several innocents and destroyed much of a city block. Gates’s reaction was the opposite: he jealously wanted to know why LA didn’t have similar military hardware. Shortly after, he procured some for the city.

It took decades of fighting back against police brutality by committed activists for LA to get where it is now: not necessarily a model of policing, but at least far less fucked up than it used to be.

108 HappyWarrior  Nov 24, 2014 9:10:35pm

Frankly America’s race problem isn’t men and women with white hoods on their heads. It’s about people who deny their own bigotry. It’s so called “soft racism.” The kind that just assumes that black youths are more criminal than white youths. The kind that think blacks “need” to get over slavery and Jim Crow. The kind that time and time again will insist that they’re not racist but yet not hesitate to broad brush an entire race. The kind that convinces itself that blacks and minority voters are too stupid to know what’s good for them and just have their political beliefs because they “Want free stuff” or because they’re on the “plantation.”

For one, you would not have the pathetic revisionism about what the CSA was established for and the idiots who wave the rebel flag all the while decrying those they hate as being Anti-American. And I’ll say something more stronger here, the rebel flag is more offensive to me as an American than the Soviet Union’s. The CSA resulted in the deaths of much more and a much more higher percentage of Americans than the Soviets could have dreamed of.

What has given us the Lost Causers and such is the same thing that gave us the Weimar Republic being subverted and subsumed by the Nazis and throwing the world into war again: the defeated and their ideologies were never truly defeated and, in fact, were allowed to fester for years unchecked by the powers that be.

Reconstruction should have been carried out as de-Nazification was, but political sabotage in Washington from the reemerging South scuttled it before it had a chance to effect lasting change.

That’s a great example and honestly it wouldn’t shock me if the Nazis borrowed some from the Lost Cause mythology especially with the “stab in back legend.” We know that the Nazis thought highly of the system of Jim Crow. Fact is absolutely, there’s a lot of parts of the south where the CSA never died and unfortunately you see a lot of north of the Mason-Dixon line politicos like our new “pal” Mr. Hansen from Nevada adopting the CSA as part of their pet cause too.

Michael Brown’s gross injustice will go down as one of the more terrible injustices in the United States. I think of Leo Frank when I think of Michael Brown now; terrible injustice, completely out of line of the true American character. Michael Brown’s inalienable rights were arbitrarily taken away by a police officer, and the police officer’s bosses made sure he paid no consequence.

A sad day for the United States. A slap in the face to the “We hold these truths to be self evident” sentence in our Declaration of Independence.

see here’s the thing…some ask why did McCullough et al wait until nightfall to announce the decision.

Easy, allowing tensions to rise, anger to simmer and despair and chaos to marinate like a powder keg, wait for a time when darn near everyone ISN’T at work or school, then announce the decision, THEY ALREADY KNEW was coming (are some of us willing now to admit that Nixon et al, while they may NOT have known the outcome…cough…bullshit…cough)…then BOOM ignite the fuse and watch as the bomb goes off.

Now you have visual conformation to show to media and like-minded parties just waiting with baited breath for a reason to say “well see there, we knew THOSE people would turn violent”…

I always find it interesting when people say don’t react with vengence when someone literally has a boot at your throat. I guess it’s better to just swat at said boot or try to talk the boot wearing out of stomping your neck. Sometimes your first reaction is to fight…

I would like to thank you all for standing up for me during this stressful time. Your support and dedication is amazing and it is still hard to believe that all of these people that I have never met are doing so much for me. I watched the CNN video we recorded at the rally on Saturday and it brought tears to my eyes.

All of you are simply amazing, and I don’t know how to thank you all enough. I wish I could attend meet you, hug you, and personally thank you for all of your continued support, however, due to my and my families safety I am unable to. Please don’t give this letter to any media or post it where they can see it. Relay the message of thanks to all and keep this letter private until the investigation is complete.

I want you all to know that I do get updates on the amount of support. Unfortunately, I don’t get to see all of the comments made through social media, but overall messages are relayed to me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and know that I would do the same for any of you.

Also please keep my family in blue in your hearts and prayers, they have all made a sacrifice to their own lives in order to work the excessive hours through the heat and rain to ensure that the riots and protests in Ferguson were as safe as they could be.

Thank you,

P.O. Darren Wilson

All the businesses they’ve set on fire just doesn’t make any sense as to why. I believe the rioters who are burning those buildings vandalizing stores and looting are not legitimate protesters. Seeing an opportunity for chaos they came to Ferguson just for such reasons. They don’t know much about the reasons for the protests or even care.

This is it actually. Provocateurs, agitators, just taking advantage of the situation.

Makes me want to retch.

I really could have gone without reading that but I guess I was going to eventually. He doesn’t seem to have one bit of guilt about taking another life. Not one bit. This is an interesting argument but I have to warn you, you’re painting quite a broad brush. Ferguson has seen people from all over the country converge and freely assemble for the past 100+ days. And you have the locals, the ones who’ve been harassed by police for minute shit, the young people who never seem to get a fair shot because of poor schools and (a theme) constant harassment by law enforcement.

I’m not excusing any of the acts of arson, vandalism and mayhem that is going on in St. Louis County tonight. I am pointing out the diverse and disparate crowd that Ferguson has been dealing with since Micheal Brown was murdered.

That’s quite possibly true about the outside protesters. OTOH, riots aren’t logical events. When there were riots here in L.A., over 1000 buildings burned simultaneously. Most of those fires were started by local residents who were pissed off and powerless; they made a bad choice, but they weren’t necessarily outside agitators with a harmful agenda.

Angry crowds (even justifiably, as here) will often do things that no individual in the group would do if alone. So I don’t think we can neatly split the protesters into two groups: “legitimate” and outsiders. When passions are this high, people who are “good law abiding” citizens every other day of the year can easily get caught up in acts of civil unrest. Doesn’t make them evil career criminals, just people fed up with a racist system. People who, with much justification, feel as if their lives matter less to the majority of Americans than white lives.

Correct.

Locals on the spot reported on at least two other factions who tried to horn in: white anarchists and actual criminals locally. Well, actually, three…older outsiders who tried to take credit for their work.

Taking a break from the Ferguson stuff for a minute, I’d like to draw your attention to Ray Comfort’s latest evangelical themed film Audacity.

Unlike his previous efforts, this one is not a documentary but a scripted film. He crowdsourced the funding and nearly doubled his $175 000 goal. It’s set to premiere early next year.

Based on this trailer it doesn’t seem quite as lame as other movies of the type but it IS Ray Comfort driven. Don’t know if I’ll try and sit through it or not.

Would you actually pay for a ticket? I don’t like movies enough to watch one I paid for and then sneak into another one, but maybe you could catch a bootleg. Make a MST3000 thing if you do. I would probably sit through that.

I’m not really comfortable with that term “outside agitator.” It’s got way too much Jim Crow wrapped around it. It’s code for “those bad northern blacks” as opposed to “our good southern blacks who know their place.”

And even if many protesters are from “outside” (like the civil rights student activists killed in Miss. and Alabama) that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re a destructive force. Many, if not most, probably show up because they hate injustice. Like the Catholic nuns and ACLU and NAACP members there. It’s like that conversation that was being held about the Communist group that took on the Klan in Greensboro the other day. Most of the people who went there were people who really did believe in racial equality and standing up to the KKK face to face. I think most people protesting in Ferguson these past months have been people sincerely angry about what happened and tonight’s announcement infuriates them even more. That’s not to say I condone violence or destruction of property but I also understand anger when it feels like the people who are supposed to be society’s protectors are actually doing the total opposite.

I was there. The difference is that in the Sixties we still believed that things could change. We still believed that peaceful protest would have an effect on the general public and on public officials. The intervening years have demonstrated just how wrong we were then. The system has insulated itself, one way or another, from the voice of the people on everything from gun control to endless war. The most pernicious thing that’s happened is that numbers of good people have become convinced that their voices and their votes count for nothing. Only those who feel strongly can be counted on to show up at the polls for every election and unfortunately for us the other side has more of them.

The police are telling people (like the mayor in Delwood) that they do not feel ‘safe’ enough to bring in the fire trucks.
Yet there are either none or very few protesters around these fires.
And like they mayor of Delwood just said — he was promised that they would be protected, that there would be National Guard, and yet there is nobody there protecting them or their property.

re: #274 Weet

I keep hearing the same thing over and over on these newscasts:

There are no fire trucks trying to stop the fires.

I see this as a wink wink nod nod by the police.

The firefighters are being ordered to leave certain fires where shots are being fired. It’s for safety reasons. Some of the fires were being extinguished when they had to drop their hoses and take off.

But Chris Hayes was standing right there near the burning buildings, and there were no protesters, and no fire trucks even nearby. 15 minutes of this. And the same with the mayor of Dellwood.

I heard the one story about the dropping of the hose. But that’s one story, and certainly was not what was going on in the film I saw.

There are some agitators out there firing bullets, for sure. But I’ll bet they didn’t catch the ones from out of town that planned to come riot.

Bottom line: Wilson knew that Missouri law allows him to shoot to kill, even in these circumstances. It has not been talked about enough. That law is unconstitutional (SCOTUS has ruled on a similar law).

Michael Brown, hands up, was being shot at. Apparently, and this is only what I heard on CNN, the evidence shows the gun casings just 8 feet from Brown’s body, and the assumption is that Brown did come back at Wilson (after being shot at with his hands up.)

It was the same story as the Zimmermann killing: the police did their “job” of making sure that no jury could come up with enough undisputed evidence for an indictment/conviction.

Until we address the ability of police departments to suppress, delay or otherwise compromise evidence, incidents like these will continue.

Prosecutors don’t usually present any evidence for the defense and the accused isn’t usually allowed to testify unless you want him on record so you can charge him with perjury and they sure as hell aren’t allowed to have their own experts testify.

This case has taken Wilson’s statements at face value, statements which were taken well after the incident.

Based on an incredible assortment of facts: Mike Brown, after being shot in the initial scuffle at the car, ran away, stopped, turned around, from 150+ feet away, then ‘charged’ Wilson, who then fired two barrages of bullets.

Makes absolutely no sense.

Hand Dryers Spread Bacteria in Public Toilets

Modern hand dryers are much worse than paper towels when it comes to spreading germs, according to new University of Leeds research.

Scientists from the University of Leeds have found that high-powered ‘jet-air’ and warm air hand dryers can spread bacteria in public toilets. Airborne germ counts were 27 times higher around jet air dryers in comparison with the air around paper towel dispensers.

The study shows that both jet and warm air hand dryers spread bacteria into the air and onto users and those nearby.

There was a comment downstairs about how the federal government was forced to act on civil rights in the 1960’s, and the blowback from that.

I had another thought: Back then, there was a broad middle class. Yes, it was mostly white. Yes, it wasn’t real for most blacks and minorities.

But there was a broad, and mostly content, and most of all, well-off, middle class.

They had leisure time to watch the National Guard, Bull Connor, the firehoses, and all of that on TV. “The whole world is watching” in 1968.

Who’s got that now?

I just wish people wold stop retweeting the 538 story about FEDERAL grand juries as it has no relation to this situation.

It’s Incredibly Rare For A Grand Jury To Do What Ferguson’s Just Did

It would be a far more productive analysis to look into the bolded above.

Someone here (sorry, I’ve forgotten who) noted that prosecutors who want a trial will push grand juries toward indictments, and generally get what they want. McCullough pretty clearly wanted quite the opposite, and got what he wanted.

But I have another legal issue to raise. Could Michael Brown’s family file a civil suit against Wilson, the PD and anyone else involved?

Sure, they can file a suit (presumably in either Missouri or federal court). Hard to say if they would win any money or much the city would settle the case for.

383 lawhawk  Nov 25, 2014 6:10:49am

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area.

I have known and seen racism and discrimination. I have known and experienced privilege.

And I have the common sense to distinguish between the two.

Ferguson is a place that is riddled with racism and discrimination. The police are known by all to engage in discrimination and racism. The state has disbanded police departments for racism and other malfeasance. Darren Wilson belonged to one such department to start his career. He came to Ferguson where the Department has long had issues in policing the community. All but a handful of officers are white in a community that is overwhelmingly black.

Blacks are stopped far more frequently than white (when adjusting per capita). That’s despite fact that whites that are stopped are found to have contraband in higher rates.

In this respect, Ferguson is hardly alone. Many other communities around the St. Louis region (and indeed nationally) face the same problems.

But the specifics of this case are exceptionally troubling. Only Wilson was able to speak to what happened - and it was couched from the outset that he feared for his life when he stopped Brown. Both were the same height (Brown had 70 pounds on him). All the shots were fired by Wilson. And Brown lay dead more than 150 feet from the vehicle, in about a minute after the stop was initiated by Wilson.

All the eyewitness evidence was disregarded or minimized by the fact that Wilson feared for his life. That there’s no bruising apparent from the photos taken hours later. Yet, he thought he was a punch or two from being disabled?

McCullough had all the evidence necessary to indict, but presented everything in a fashion that made indictment unlikely. McCullough never intended to indict - this was for show. And McCullough is part of the vary institutions that allow the racism to persist.

Now, none of this excuses the looting and violence in Ferguson. Why these people think that the response to the failure to indict is to loot and burn down businesses that serve the very community are boggling. At the same time, the police seemed to have wanted to incite this further - firing round after round of tear gas and smoke indiscriminately against protesters - peaceful or otherwise. Yet, those actions seem to get overlooked in the face of the rioting and looting.

And the looting/violence takes away the indisputable fact - Darren Wilson killed Michael Brown and will not be tried in a Missouri state court for those actions because the prosecutor manipulated the process not to look to the facts, but to protect a cop.

State police officer walks by my car and when he gets to the two cars in front of me asks both drivers to get out. Scolds both of them and tells them to get moving and stop holding up traffic. I’ll give you three guesses to the race of all involved. First two don’t count.

Same privilege I’ve been afforded my whole life.

Brown’s family most certainly can file civil suit. That suit would normally follow the criminal trial. Since that isn’t happening, it will probably be filed pending whether the DoJ files its own civil rights charges against Wilson, FPD, etc.

Just because the GJ refused to indict doesn’t mean that a civil case can’t proceed.

Despite the GOP naysayers and right wingers who keep talking crap, the economy is growing pretty robustly. 3.6%.

And now there’s word that oil prices may slip even further because of slack demand in Asia and Europe. It’ll hurt Russia pretty hard, along with the likes of high-cost-to-extract countries, including Venezuela. So, OPEC might resolve to cut production to support prices where they are.

All this favors US economic growth too. Lower energy costs means transport and production of goods is cheaper, more money goes to buying goods, and stimulates the economy further.

So, watch for Fox to complain that lower energy prices will hurt the economy. It’s what they do.

Paused.

And then fired enough shots to kill him, including through the top of Brown’s head.

The pause is critical. He had a chance to stop firing and to apprehend Brown (if that was ever entered his thought process let alone wait for backup to arrive).

He then fired to kill. And there is photographic evidence that he stood over Brown as he lay dying or was already dead despite McCullough’s claims to the contrary.

McCullough sought to blame everyone but himself for not getting an indictment. If McCullough wanted an indictment, he could have put on a case in chief to direct an indictment. He never had any intention of doing so. His obfuscation and misdirection during last night’s presser is proof of that.

Exactly. He didn’t act like an officer in fear of his life. He acted like a man eager to kill this kid. And then there’s McCulloch who can’t act with any impartiality with cases involving cops. I know he experienced a personal tragedy with his father but he has no business at all being a prosecutor let alone the district attorney for a large county if he’s going to have this mindset that cops can do no wrong.

FAA issues NOTAM over Ferguson. Again. Limiting airspace directly above Ferguson to law enforcement use only. Media can only fly above 3100 feet.

Due to reports from law enforcement of gunshots fired into the sky the Federal Aviation Administration activated a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over Ferguson, Missouri.
For safety reasons, only law enforcement aircraft are permitted to fly through this area.
Media aircraft are currently operating just above the TFR at 3,100 feet.
The TFR prevents approaches to Runways 29, 30-Left and 30-Right. Due to winds, commercial aircraft are unable to land on other runways. Departures are unaffected.
As of 11:30 p.m. Central Time, airlines reported ten inbound flights have diverted to other airports.
The TFR is three miles in diameter, up to 3,000 feet above sea level. It is in effect from 10:15 p.m. Central on November 24, to 4:15 a.m. Central November 25.

He can say that, but his instructions to the jury seem to be the biggest issue. The real problem to me is that he’s tainted any future jury pool. Also even though it’s not double jeopardy it still looks like a second bite at the apple. I hate to say it but without unambiguous evidence of gross misconduct or tampering (I think it’s a supportable argument, but not an obvious slam dunk) I don’t see how the nebulous benefit outweighs the cost. Not cost in financial terms, but in fomenting further unrest and revanchist white angst.

I don’t know, the whole things sucks.

I have to rake leaves too. My problem is I have no trees in my yard that have leaves. I have a huge blue spruce. But with the 50 mph wind gusts that blew through Columbus yesterday…I now have plenty of leaves. My neighbor’s from across the street.

Maybe I should take down my privacy fence. it stopped all those leaves from just moving on.

Lesson in all this: Don’t rob a convienence store, don’t pick a fight with a cop when he questions you about robbing a convienence store, and don’t charge the officer after he tells you to stand down. Why is it so hard for liberals to get this? I guess if the real world doesn’t match up to your preconceived notions, then so much the worse for the real world.

Wilson questioned Brown about robbing a convenience store? Really? All in the 90 seconds it took to kill him?

453 lawhawk  Nov 25, 2014 8:11:07am

Unbelievable as in, there’s no way the events could have unfolded as he claims they did.

For instance, Wilson claims:

I was doing the, just scrambling, trying to get his arms out of my face and him from grabbing me and everything else. He turned to his…if he’s at my vehicle, he turned to his left and handed the first subject. He said, “here, take these.” He was holding a pack of — several packs of cigarillos which was just, what was stolen from the Market Store was several packs of cigarillos. He said, “here, hold these” and when he did that I grabbed his right arm trying just to control something at that point. Um, as I was holding it, and he came around, he came around with his arm extended, fist made, and went like that straight at my face with his…a full swing from his left hand.

Wilson claims that he got punched by Brown, who then turned to Johnson to hold the cigarillos before resuming punching?

Try wrapping your head around that. Try envisioning how you’d punch someone with your hands full of boxes, then telling a friend to hold them while resuming punching.

Any number of things can happen, if you’re punching while your hands are full of boxes, including breaking those boxes open, damaging the contents. And that’s not addressed anywhere.

This is simply a narrative that Wilson proffered because he knew (or was coached) into stating that he feared for his life, and that is the get out of indictment card needed.

Wilson further alleges that Brown says that he’s “too much of a pussy to shoot”. Right. After assaulting a cop, Brown’s going to insinuate that Wilson doesn’t have the guts to use it.

Guess Wilson showed him.

Why would Brown make that statement, knowing that Wilson could and would fire on him. It makes no sense.

None of it does.

SICKEST #TCOT TWEET OF THE DAY

455 rhuarc  Nov 25, 2014 8:19:45am

Here is what is boggling my mind this morning. I have a few friends on FB that are sympathetic to cops or are cops themselves. I posted my thoughts last night on FB via a few different posts. All of a sudden I was a cop hater, I should walk the walk (i.e. become a police officer), I wasn’t allowed to speak on such matters because I have never been a cop, etc. They all followed up with separate posts of their own saying these types of people should just unfriend them. Why the passive aggressive behavior? You’re just as capable as I am of unfriending someone. However, that leads me into the biggest head scratcher.

I responded to one person and said that if you treat the populace like an enemy the populace will treat you like an enemy. And everywhere I am seeing such behavior from cops and their sycophants. Basically if you question this GJ in anyway you’re anti-cop. I just can’t understand that thought process. It’s like to these people cops can do no wrong. That they’re better than your everyday citizen. That your everyday citizen should be held in contempt because they aren’t a cop. And these people wonder why their job is so dangerous and a lot of people can’t stand them. If you start from a position of respect for your fellow human being then they will more than likely show you that respect back. If not, well then you get back what you give.

The entire discussion, as with Trayvon Martin, has been deflected away from the police departments that allowed vital evidence to be tainted, ignored or left uncollected so that no of (grand) jury would have access to enough incontrovertible evidence come up with an indictment or a conviction.

And I see no signs that the underlying problem is going to be addressed at any time soon.

But, when you are writing for idiots to believe it, maybe even the 5th graders would have been too much.

The facts indicate that Wilson shot and killed an unarmed black man who was more than 100 feet from the car. Wilson’s statements don’t jibe with the evidence at the scene. But McCullough scripted the evidence in a way to avoid an indictment.

Another prosecutor who wasn’t biased in favor of making sure that cops are never indicted for any criminal charges (excessive force, let alone officer-involved shootings) could have gotten an indictment with this evidence.

Another prosecutor who wanted an indictment could have brought one with the same exact evidence.

This is about how the case was brought. The evidence was sufficient for an indictment.

The medical investigator did not take photographs at the scene of Brown’s killing because the camera battery had died, the grand jury heard.

What…the…fuck?

THAT’S WHAT FUCKING MEDICAL EXAMINERS DO!!!!!!! They EXAMINE A CRIME!

GodDAMN it, I am sick of these people. I hope the Justice Department disbands the entire thing.

A lot of animators have borrowed from Miyazaki, including the aforementioned BTAS. The blimp scene in “Man-Bat” was definitely inspired by the similar scene in Laputa.

BTAS is itself a great series; “Almost Got ‘Im” is as brilliant as it ever was in its direction. The best stealing the best. Works for me.

You actually said that if a white person did what Michael Brown did, he would still be alive? To quote a Steely Dan lyric, Only A Fool Would Say That

Yes, I actually said that if a white person did the things that Michael Brown was alleged to have done, the cop wouldn’t have unloaded a clip at him.

Yes. But you are operating on different assumptions of what is it that Mike Brown did. The troll operates on the made-up assumption that Brown charged the cop.

“One strong option would be former Sen. Joe Lieberman, a member of the president’s own party with deep experience and unshakable commitment to the security of the United States,” Cruz said. “I urge the president to give him full and fair consideration for this critical position.”

It’s just Cruz trolling. He’s part of the wing of his party that went batshit that McCain was even considering Lieberman for VP. Cruz thinks he can come off “bipartisan” by suggesting Lieberman. Honestly, I hope Obama goes with someone who isn’t a politician this time for the position. No idea who’s being considered though.

Someone it should be added that Obama supported even after he went independent after losing the primary. Now Lieberman was free to do that but the way Lieberman attacked Obama even after Obama had been one of the most prominent Democrats to support him not just against Lamont in the primary but in the GE was pathetic and then to be one of McCain’s biggest attack dogs against him shows Lieberman’s lack of loyalty to anyone.

Ok, so it’s a bit inconsistent. It’s a collection of bronze age mythology. Even my Rabbi says not to take it too literally.
But the part about “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth”. Very misunderstood passage. It’s not condoning revenge. It means that you pay a price proportional to what you’ve taken.

Same as it ever was: disenfranchised people organize, protest, struggle and get ignored. Then shit really goes bad, there’s violence or property damage, and it retroactively justifies the disenfranchised being disenfranchised.

“You can’t complain because you didn’t protest black-on-black crime loud enough for us to pay attention.”

The same shit the British pulled with the people they colonized.

“You’re not being civilized, so we don’t have to be civilized.”
