In Which Chuck C. Johnson Goes on an All-Night Hate Binge: “Obama is Probably Gay”

Award winning right wing journalism at its best

Chuck C. Johnson posing with his best friend

Every once in a while, smear merchant Chuck C. Johnson goes on an all-night hate bender on Twitter, spewing bizarre conspiracy theories and absurdly grandiose boasts in all directions. Last night’s example is a classic… but it actually began with a hilarious Freudian slip. (Now deleted.)

And now, without further ado, the Chuck C. Johnson firehose of right wing crazy. (In reverse chronological order.)

I love how I’m being gay bashed when I just had an amazing dinner cooked by my lovely wife because I had a typo. It happens. I’m unedited.

The continual seeking of validation because he has a lovely/hot/asian wife is especially pathetic.

OT.

Since I’m off work today I’m doing the Christmas decorating. Can someone please tell me why I NEVER have any luck with the lights? Every year I’m either missing strands or they don’t work.

This year i’ve got a case of both as one strand I have is only half on. I’ve gone over it twice and found no burned out bulbs. Another strand seems to be MIA as I’m one short of what I thought I had.

Off to Wal-mart I go…

Sometimes more than one someone, and occasionally closely related to each other.

Chuck most certainly does not speak fluent French. I’ve read his attempts at the language on Twitter, it’s a hodgepodge of syntax and usage errors with no understanding of idiom. Basically, Google translate masquerading as fluency.

Here we go again.

When you couldn’t get an indictment in Washington State for a housewife (Robin Pratt) who gets her neck blown apart by a submachine gun wielded by a SWAT officer on a bad tip raid while she was kneeling and pleading for her daughter and niece to not be harmed…you are simply not going to get indictments for cops on just about anything done in uniform.

At all.

In the latest chapter of “That Explains A Lot”… had a visit from the park manager this morning. As I related yesterday, I had a creepy encounter with another resident in the laundry room that resulted in the guy screaming expletives at me as I left with my laundry. He was so loud and violently angry that it drew the manager out of the office next door. All of this was because, after his specific query, I told him that I was a liberal and I thought the Keystone pipeline was a bad idea.

It seems that over the past several years he has grown increasingly angry, paranoid, hostile, and belligerent, prompting numerous complaints from his neighbors. Turns out that since his retirement, he sits in his rig 24/7 watching… guess… Fox news.

Just because I finally get to turn my paper in on Robespierre next week…

Allons enfants de la patrie,
Le jour de gloire est arrivé !
Contre nous de la tyrannie
L’étendard sanglant est levé ! (bis)
Entendez-vous dans les campagnes,
Mugir ces féroces soldats ?
Ils viennent jusque dans nos bras
Égorger nos fils, nos compagnes !

Refrain:

Aux armes, citoyens !
Formez vos bataillons !
Marchons ! Marchons !
Qu’un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons !

Robespierre would have made a great Teahadi.

We might as well just go ahead and declare that cops can do no wrong. Even with video evidence, people are inclined to believe that a cop was doing the right thing. Wouldn’t surprise me if more than one of the morons who voted not to indict though that Garner deserved whatever he got for tangling with a cop.

You see that mentality a lot in comments around the web.

No conviction.

We had video of a San Bernardino deputy shooting a compliant man in the back as he followed orders.

No conviction.

Oscar Grant murder in the Oakland subway.

Officer got less then 1 year in jail for killing a handcuffed, prone black man.

Rodney King…

It took federal charges to get convictions on only 2 of the 4 originally charged by the state.

It’s hard to say that Staten Islanders didn’t go all Staten Island with the failure to indict, but they went all Staten Island. They are far more conservative and law-and-order-ish than the rest of the City, but the fact that they ignored the video showing clear misconduct shows problems with trying police officers.

It’s an impossibly high bar, and that even clear video showing misconduct is no guarantee that an indictment can be filed against police.

It’s also no wonder so many in the minority community have no reason to trust the justice system when they see rank injustice applied at every turn - especially when it comes to members of their own community slain at the hands of the police with no criminal charges filed.

Worst thing you can do to one is expose them because they live on a tissue of lies. He has no charm so he can’t get what he wants that way. So he goes for aggression built on lies that HE BELIEVES.

Will he actually go off and be dangerous? I don’t know. I don’t know if he’s violent, most psychopaths are not. But I know this. If he’s threatening someone they need to get a restraining order. And this guy needs to be watched very carefully.

So at what point do African Americans have a right to feel that violence becomes an acceptable reaction to institutionalized injustice?

Because I am starting to see genuine calls for violence from some quarters (including at Salon)…and 30 years of “conversations”, “panels” and “commissions” have done next to nothing to deal with the problem of police violence on minorities.

re: #135 Aunty Entity Dragon

I wish I had an answer, but I don’t see any - especially at the federal level. We might see some individual states move on this, but if you can’t get indictments in NYC (yeah, Staten Island is the most right wing of the boroughs, but it’s still state and city law that applies), you’re going to have a hard time elsewhere. Reforming the law surrounding excessive force and police misconduct needs to be done - perhaps starting with changing the presumption that force is justified. It should be a rebuttable presumption - meaning that the officer has to prove it is justified, pushing the matter to trial, and at least giving families hope that there can be indictments.

It’s a small but significant step.

I know that the law and order types will have issues with changing that presumption and that their word will be questioned or that it somehow undermines their authority, but they are officers of the law and should ultimately be answerable to the community they serve. They are doing a disservice to everyone by engaging in unlawful killings that go unpunished because the system is set up so that even indictment is nearly impossible to come by.

No, say it. Because it needs to be said. The same electorate that would have no problem sending an indicted Congressman back to Congress despite threatening to throw a reporter off a balcony in The Capitol is all for law-and-order when it comes to the NYPD - they can’t do any wrong. 145 taserian  Dec 3, 2014 12:14:30pm

Thought experiment:
I wonder if there’s multiple factors involved with this lack of indictments. Part of it being a sense (misguided or not) that if the public indicts the police that protect them, they won’t do so in the future. Add to this the fact that police departments are very protective of their own, and whistleblower cops are detested forevermore within their brotherhood.

So insiders can’t criticize without being shunned, and outsiders (e.g., juries) are afraid to lose the good aspects of police protection. I don’t see a viable solution to these factors.

I would guess the cigarettes were probably purchased in a state where they are significantly cheaper than in New York.

According to the Awl, a pack of smokes in New York costs $12.85. A pack in Virginia costs $5.25.

According to the state of Virginia:

• In Richmond, Virginia, a carton of premium cigarettes costs a consumer approximately $40 - $45.
• In New York City, a carton of premium cigarettes costs a consumer approximately $120 - $150.
• The profit on one diverted carload of 750
contraband cartons can approach $43,000 due
to these price differentials.

Garner obviously wouldn’t have been getting that kind of profit, because he may have paid a markup above the Virginia price, but it shows that the profit margin is probably better than you might think.
