Smear Merchant Chuck C. Johnson Uses Brooklyn Cop Killings to Spread Anti-Muslim Hatred

Chuck C. Johnson posing with his best friend

On news of the shooting of two police officers in Brooklyn, right wing smear merchant Chuck C. Johnson immediately launched a full-on hate campaign, culminating in this frenzied piece of sheer bigotry (another “BREAKING EXCLUSIVE,” of course — they all are): BREAKING, EXCLUSIVE: NYPD Cop Killer Worked for Alleged Muslim Terror Front Group - GotNews.

Johnson is trying to take the act of a sociopathic career criminal and turn it into an opportunity to incite hatred against Muslims, and he’s not above using flat-out lies to do it. He quotes his usual far right “source” for these police-related stories:

“His killing of his ex-girlfriend is entirely consistent with an honor killing,” says John Cardillo, a former NYPD police officer who investigated terror cells in New York.

This was posted last night, and I saw several people on Twitter point out to Chuck that it’s simply wrong, but… no correction, of course.

Ismaaiyl Brinsley’s ex-girlfriend was:

  • Not killed; she was seriously wounded but is expected to recover.
  • Absolutely not the victim of an "honor killing."

In fact, Brinsley went to her apartment intending to kill himself, but she talked him out of it — and he repaid her kindness by shooting her.

This was no “honor killing,” not even an attempted “honor killing” — and it had nothing to do with Brinsley’s Muslim faith. It was a spree killing, ending in a suicide.

A horrible crime, made worse by grotesque bottom feeders like Chuck C. Johnson who use it to spread hatred and divisiveness.

UPDATE at 12/23/14 12:50:26 pm by Charles Johnson

And now this despicable low-life is smearing the killer’s mother: BREAKING: NYPD Cop Killer’s Jamaican Mom Praises Polygamy, Hates Capitalism - GotNews.

Cardillo also blamed Eric Garner’s death on his obesity and asthma, not Pantaleo’s choke hold, which he claims wasn’t really a choke hold because no throat damage was noted in the autopsy.

Peas in a pod. Chuckles uses bogus and factually incorrect claims to smear while Jim Hoft links approvingly to people who expropriate the dying words of Eric Garner to claim that taxes are too damned high.

Idiocracy was a precog documentary. /but not by much.

The thing is, that no matter how many quiverfulls of white children are created, brown people will still outnumber them in 50 (or so) years in the US.

There will not be a South Africa type apartheid in this country.

The idea that “our way of life” will somehow diminish because of this is absurd.

Western Values and Democracy are not tied to one religion or skin color.

They are, in fact, not entirely Western or Christian.

One of myDear Ole’ Dad’s favorite books, which I have not been able to finish. He claimed it proved the above premise.

She tried to do the right thing, and was nearly killed for it. Now watch the same right wingers attack Shaneka Thompson, an Air Force Reservist, for not letting him kill himself because that would have prevented him from killing the 2 NYPD cops. He ended up committing suicide after killing the cops anyways.

It’s a truly tragic and horrific situation for Thompson; Brinsley had mental health issues that weren’t addressed, and a lengthy criminal record predating those of any protests relating to Ferguson or Eric Garner. He had an anti-cop streak long before any of this, along with firearms violations. Thompson tried to stop him from hurting himself and others, and in the end he did both - with horrific consequences.

He still managed to get a firearm, and how he managed to do so, is an open question that isn’t adequately addressed. We know that the gun was sold from a pawn shop, but not the intermediate steps between who it was sold to and how it ended up in Brinsley’s possession.

There’s probably enough there to shut him down. But he’d then complain that his free speech rights were being denied (again showing his complete lack of understanding of a business contract he entered into as part of setting up Goatnews).

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (December 22, 2014) — An orangutan that has lived 20 years at the Buenos Aires zoo is entitled to some legal rights enjoyed by humans, an Argentine court has ruled, a decision the ape’s attorney called unprecedented and a ticket to greater freedom.

The ruling comes a month after a local animal rights group filed a habeas corpus writ in favor of Sandra, who was born in Germany but has lived in captivity in Buenos Aires most of her life.

“Following a dynamic … judicial interpretation, it is necessary to recognize that the animal is subject to rights, and should be protected,” said the Dec. 18 ruling, published Monday by the official judicial news agency.

Merry Christmas Your work doesn’t count the same as others . .

On Monday, U.S. District Judge Richard Leon struck down a rule change issued by the Department of Labor that would have extended minimum wage and overtime pay protections to home care workers come January.

In 1974, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) — the law requires American employers to pay their workers at least the minimum wage and extra pay for overtime hours — was expanded to cover domestic workers. Yet a carve-out was included for those who provide “care and fellowship” to the elderly and disabled in their homes. That exemption became so broadly interpreted as to deny basic labor rights from those who feed, clothe, and bathe clients, as well as give them medical care. In 2007, under that law, the Supreme Court ruled that a woman named Evelyn Coke’s employer, who had her work long hours giving care, did nothing illegal by failing to give her overtime pay.

re: #68 FemNaziBitch

CDC primer on raw milk and risks:

Raw milk can carry harmful bacteria and other germs that can make you very sick or even kill you. While it is possible to get foodborne illnesses from many different foods, raw milk is one of the riskiest of all. Getting sick from raw milk can mean many days of diarrhea, stomach cramping, and vomiting. Less commonly, it can mean kidney failure, paralysis, chronic disorders, and even death.

Many people who chose raw milk thinking they would improve their health instead found themselves (or their loved ones) sick in a hospital for several weeks fighting for their lives from infections caused by germs in raw milk. For example, a person can develop severe or even life-threatening diseases, such as Guillain-Barré syndrome, which can cause paralysis, and hemolytic uremic syndrome, which can result in kidney failure and stroke.

(snip)

States that allow the legal sale of raw milk for human consumption have more raw milk-related outbreaks of illness than states that do not allow raw milk to be sold legally. Experts also found that those sickened in raw milk outbreaks were 13 times more likely to be hospitalized than those who got ill from pasteurized milk during an outbreak.

Among dairy product-associated outbreaks reported to CDC during 2007 and 2012 in which the investigators reported whether the product was pasteurized or raw, 81% were due to raw milk or cheese. A study released by CDC in January 2014 examined the number of outbreaks associated with raw milk in the United States during this 6‐year period. From 2007 through 2012, 81 outbreaks due to consumption of raw milk were reported to CDC from 26 states. These outbreaks resulted in 979 illnesses and 73 people were hospitalized. Most of these illnesses were caused by Campylobacter, Escherichia coli O157, or Salmonella. Most (81%) outbreaks occurred in states where the sale of raw milk was legal at the time. It is important to note that a substantial proportion of the raw milk-associated disease burden falls on children. Of the 78 outbreaks from 2007 to 2012 with information on the patients’ ages available, 59% involved at least one child under the age of 5 years.

That’s what Paul is promoting (that is when he’s not shilling for his bogus medical organization that is little more than a paper mill for “credentials” that should carry no weight among anyone in the field.

re: #76 No Country For Old Haters

You’ve got to combine several related features of the GOP/Libertarian doctrine here.

1) demand access to raw milk, claiming that regulation is stifling (even though regulation has reduced food-borne illnesses significantly);
2) watch as GOP keeps reducing funding and blocking further regulation protecting food supplies;
3) watch as GOP cuts funding to regulatory agencies responsible for food safety oversight like the FDA and Department of Agriculture;
4) as food borne illnesses increase, the GOP will claim that they should drop the regulations since the illnesses are increasing (due to their gutting the agencies ability to do their job).

Rinse and repeat.

And it applies to more than just food safety. This is the general trend among GOP policies on other industries too.

I have a self-control problem.
First, my sainted father offers to help pay for my middle daughter’s college tuition to the tune of $10,000/year, making this path possible for our family.
Then, in the same phone call, he says “So what do you think about those two dead cops?” and from there, before I can say anything, we are at “thousands of leftists calling for dead cops” and “the race-baiter-in-chief and his cronies.”

I tried saying “Dad, this doesn’t have anything to do with Obama.”
Then I said, “Dad, we need to end this conversation”
Then I said, “Dad, I think we should hang up now”

But nothing stopped him. On and on about leftist cop-haters and Al Sharpton being Obama’s best pal. Thank God my partner grabbed the phone from me before I could hang up on him, possibly saving my daughter’ college education.
My question: in the same circumstances, would you have been able to say “Yes, Dad. You’re right, Dad. It’s all Obama’s fault, and the leftist haters”?

Of course, Rush is the same one who complained about 12 Years a Slave’s portrayal of slavery and one of his fellow conservatives wished it had been more like Gone With the Wind. You know a movie based off an escaped slave’s memoir should be more like one of the most famous Lost Cause novels.

We actually had snow when we were in Yosemite a few years back. Shorts one day, snow at high elevations the next. Similar thing happened in Yellowstone and Badlands on separate occasions. I’m sure under right circumstances, the Mrs. would jump at trip. We pretty much hit the parks on shoulder season, so we’re always mixing it up with possible dramatic weather (which can make for trying times when doing the travel, but great photo chances).

We had a discussion about this the other morning and I still maintain that the problem with the whole “codename” angle is that it would end up effectively rendering Bond a parody of himself. Already actors are constrained by what they can bring to the character of Bond by Fleming’s description of him and expectations that Connery set for the role. It’s why there was so much fuss about Craig being blond when he was named the new Bond.

But making it something that’s in-universe as well, “Bond” no longer as a unique individual but simply an agent that’s been promoted to the “codename,” sort of destroys the mystique. Now you’re no longer watching the adventures of James Bond, you’re watching the adventures of Nigel, the guy who got promoted to be the “new” Bond.

re: #126 The War TARDIS

I’ll summarize what was the big issue with Lungbarrow. From the TARDIS wiki.

According to Leela, each Family on Gallifrey had their own “Family Loom” which they used to create new members of their Family. She felt pity for Gallifreyans, because the Looms prevented “true children” from existing on their planet. Gallifreyans were born as “full-grown adults”, although they were child-like at the time of their birth, and had to mature mentally like any young life-form. The genetic relationship between people originating from each Family Loom was lateral rather than direct, meaning that people from the same Loom were “cousins” of each other.

Clara helped bounce it out of Canon twice this Series.

During Listen, when the Doctor was a child and she spoke to him, and in Death in Heaven, when she tried to bluff her way through the cybermen. She mentioned biological children of the Doctor.

Only thing that would have been more satisfying in that regard, is if Issa had done this as a Friday night news dump. He couldn’t even get that part right.

The most he can claim about the IRS scandal is that the IRS and WH weren’t more forthcoming. He found no link to the WH. None. It’s a nothingburger, and the primary reason that the IRS had to do what it did was because it doesn’t have enough money to examine all applications for nonprofit status, so it looked for shorthands - like say the name of the organization to divine its corporate purpose.

So, instead of fixing the law, the Congressional nitwits launched investigation after investigation to claim that the IRS was up to no good.

And the rubes keep up with the news via Fox, and claiming that the taxes are excessive (primarily because far too many are getting tax breaks they shouldn’t, and the IRS can’t catch the problems). That goes for corporate and individual taxpayers too.

I’ve gotten to the point where I’m pretty much hate-watching the show. Something about my OCD compels me to keep on watching it unfortunately. :(

Ha, I do that with some other shows, but managed to get free of Homeland.
I even watched Sliders until the very end, even though each episode was worse than the one before it. I enjoy a train-wreck as much as anyone.

I did really enjoy Claire Danes’ performances in earlier seasons.

Unpossible.

He cannot be embarrassed. He has no shame. Fact.

He’s not self-aware enough for shame. I think his disability is a huge factor, and that would stop me from mocking him for being so delusional in public, if not for his massive ego.

You assume that he has a sense of shame and underestimate his ability to rationalize and relativize anything he says or does.

Yep, Chuck will just modify his delusions based on anything that would shame a normal person. He may eventually realize that he’s full of crap and have a complete breakdown, but my money’s on him lacking the self-awareness to realize what he is.

I think it’s more than Aspergers, which really is a disability, though it often comes with advantages too. I say this as someone on the spectrum, who didn’t learn to comfortably interact with people until fairly late in life, and missed a lot of social cues as a young person.

177 Justanotherhuman  Dec 23, 2014 2:34:10pm

Hate to change the subject from Upchuck. Not.

Got the bad news from my landlord this afternoon that he’s sold the complex. He recently had another heart attack and had to have 4 stents put in place, so he thinks he’ll retire from the real estate business. Sold it to a guy in NY who will have a mgmt co here handle it. I had asked him a couple of times if he was selling it, since the bank has been out here twice in the last couple of months, the last on Fri when they toured my apt (as a model) and it closed on Mon, appparently.

I sure don’t think they’re going to replace him, though. Best landlord and all around nice guy you could ever want, but with his medical issues, I don’t blame him for slowing down. He was afraid he’d have the fatal h.a. and leave his wife with too much to handle on her own. So they’re divesting themselves of pretty much all their rental properties.

I dread having to deal with a mgmt co and an absentee “landlord” for whom this is strictly an investment.

For M, it was a labor of love.

Nope, not buying autism or ASD as any part of an explanation for CCJ. The people I know on the spectrum are more susceptible to shame than most neurotypicals. They are acutely aware of not necessarily knowing as easily where boundaries are, and when they discover they’ve crossed them are mortified.

If Chuck C. is really suffering from autism, wouldn’t his wife or others in his family, maybe some friends reign him in? There doesn’t really seem to be any filter for his behavior and he doesn’t seem to be able to control himself.

That hints others have tried and given up or they try and nothing happens. He just plows on in his heavy-handed new journalism way. So he must see himself in control and doing everything just as he would plan.

No matter what the cause, it remains that he cannot be embarrassed. He has no shame. The only thing that will shut him up is violence, a huge lawsuit where he loses everything or death. He is too far into himself now to stop. What drives that no longer matters.

This is Chuck C. Johnson.

We have a lot of evidence now.

re: #75 William Barnett-Lewis

Come on down the family cemetery with me. I can show you several reasons why I believe in mandatory pasteurization.

With all due respect and sorrow for those lost, that same cemetery has lots of graves for those that died of one misadventure or another. Raw milk should be available in all 50 states not just 30. Available and clearly labeled and dated. Anyone who objects to it’s risks can just get the regular stuff. Simply refrain from using any product you don’t like the risks of.

I take prilosec, I have to be extra careful as I don’t have acid to kill a light exposure to a bad bug. There are foods that could kill me (or anyone else) if it goes bad. Shellfish etc. I’m very careful about raw fish and shellfish.

I don’t want any of those off the market either.

Do we have an epidemic of sick people from raw milk here or in Europe? I don’t think so. Just a small number as would be expected. How about eggs? American eggs would be illegal and considered unsafe in Britain.

Believe it or not, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) graded eggs would be illegal if sold in the UK, or indeed anywhere in the European Union (EU). It’s all to do with the fact that commercial American eggs are federally required to be washed and sanitized before they reach the consumer. EU egg marketing laws, on the other hand, state that Class A eggs - those found on supermarkets shelves, must not be washed, or cleaned in any way…. “In Europe, the understanding is that this mandate actually encourages good husbandry on farms. It’s in the farmers’ best interests then to produce to cleanest eggs possible, as no one is going to buy their eggs if they’re dirty, ” explained Mark Williams, Chief Executive, British Egg Industry Council in a phone interview.

The point is there is more than one safe way to handle milk or crack an egg issue.

Yeah, that sounds great, till you read about the folks who read the anecdotal bullshit about how it’s SO MUCH BETTER than pasteurized milk, but don’t read the scientific studies that show the dangers, and they give it to their kids thinking they’re doing right by them.

They consciously overlook the fact that it is now factory farming, a massive medical/industrial complex and multinational corporations that dominate the consumer landscape.

That’s really deplorable. I hope the State or local authorities will be able to help these twins, and also the parents to cope with what they’ve been dealt.

Well put. People who haven’t parented special needs children rarely understand the times of despair and the thousands of disheartening moments that are part of raising one. I can understand why some parents do terrible things or just give up.

Do you regret stopping NYPD mosque surveillance program now that we know #NYPD cop killer attended one of those mosques?

That’s because he knows that mentally disturbed Muslim spree killers must, under Sharia law, post a flyer on the mosque bulletin board announcing where and when they’re going to go on the rampage.

I always thought my sons were “normal” but the teens years were pretty excruciating. It wasn’t until my deceased son, who had a history of self-medicating with alcohol and drugs, was finally diagnosed with bipolar disorder that he finally got some real help, and that was in the last few years before he died in April. And he never told me he had it—I found out only recently as a result of his disability hearing. He had led a fairly “normal” life of a working class guy up until he reached his 40s and became worse, resulting in a period of homelessness, but his situation was starting to get better, until his heart just gave out. I suspect a lot of people who “self-medicate” that way are suffering from some form of mental illness that could be caught and treated appropriately, if there were resources for them and they were willing to be treated.

Ironically, he had applied for disability in 2011, when he had his first heart attack and he was awarded back benefits from then until his death in April at the last hearing. Too late to help him, but the benefits will be divided between his 2 children.

Although there were some tough times with my grandson, the diagnosis of autism gave us and the schools he attended tools to help him grow through it. He is a great kid who is very careful of what he says, what borders he crosses and has very good anger coping skills.

I’ve gone through the stories of how I screwed up because of my social ignorance and he so far has taken those stories and developed coping methods to overcome them.

I find it difficult to understand how Chuckie can be diagnosed with ASD and still have no social coping strategies at all.

The message one gets from the culture is so much “you just need to try harder” that it’s impossible not to internalize it. And that’s for everyone. Add to that the ‘Suck it up, walk it off’ message we get as men from the earliest age, and even I find it hard to go to the doctor about actual physical issues, let alone emotional/mental ones.

Our younger boy, who has everything the older boy has, but not so severely, suffered for a long time under OUR illusion that he was “normal”. His brother’s issues occupied our minds so much that we ascribed the younger one’s paralyzing anxieties to laziness and kept telling him to try harder.

Thanks. It’s pretty obvious that there are quite a few out there, self-medicating or not, as we have noted time and again on this site, that apparently don’t think anything is wrong with them. I would include some who’ve been posted about, and those we read about in the news, even the shooter of the 2 NYC cops. His mother even said she thought he had suffered from “mental problems” and wasn’t taking medication. Holmes, Lanza, and other mass killers would probably fit into the same category.

Oh, the anti-Muslim hate is still going strong today? and now coming form Upchuck? Imagine my surprise. //

It’s low-hanging fruit. Islam is very unpopular and , apart form CAIR, Muslims have no large, well-organized group to look out for their interests. As I’m sure you all know, CAIR was slimed by the “unindicted coconspirator” thing (along with a couple of other groups).

What you may not know is that almost no one seems to have reported that the status was expunged and the records unsealed. Oddly enough—yes, I’m being sarcastic—this got almost no press. If you try to Google it you’ll have to pick trough a ton of right-wing misinformation and outright disinformation. The funny part? The most comprehensive articles I found that detail what happened, belong to the JTA (Jewish Telegraphic Agency).

Solis rejected the groups’ request that he strike references to them as unindicted co-conspirators, but that’s because the term has two meanings: One is a designation used to abide by federal rules of evidence governing the use in court of conspirators’ statements. The other, Solis says, citing precedent, is used to serve the legitimate interest in “stigmatizing private citizens as criminals while not naming them as defendants.”

Solis slots the three groups in the former category, not the latter — which is why he faults the government for publicly naming the groups as unindicted co-conspirators, instead of referring to them in public documents as “other persons” or otherwise protecting their identities. (It is also explains, presumably, why he sealed his decision in the first place; the appellate court appears to regard the sealing as having a barn door effect: Now that it’s out there, better to unseal the decision and make its reasoning clear.)

Say realtor Smith had a partner named Jones who defrauded clients. The government might name Smith an unindicted co-conspirator under two circumstances: If the government believed Smith was knowingly complicit, but chose not to bring him to trial, it could, under the precedent cited by Solis, publicly name Smith as an “unindicted co-conspirator,” because it would be in the public interest to know that Smith knowingly allowed fraud to take place, even if he was not directly incriminated.

On the other hand, under federal rules, the government could also designate Smith an “unindicted co-conspirator” as a means of using statements by Smith that might otherwise be disallowed as hearsay. Making Smith a conspirator means Jones cannot challenge Smith’s account of an event where Jones was not present, because they were both complicit in the crime, even if Smith was unwittingly so. Smith, for instance, could describe his business conversation with a victim without Jones saying that the conversation did not involve him and is therefore immaterial. The government in this case, under precedent cited by Solis, would be required to do its best to keep Smith’s name under wraps to preserve his Fifth Amendment protection against incrimination without redress. […]

jta.org

As the same author says in a later article on the subject:

I’m not defending CAIR, or ISNA or NAIT. I’m defending the rights of interest groups not to be smeared and persecuted by powerful government officials with vivid imaginations.

That’s exactly what happened in the AIPAC officials’ spying case, when manipulations employed by powerful interests within the U.S. government thought it was OK to criminalize AIPAC without regard for the constitution or First and Sixth Amendment protections.

These extend to all. […]

jta.org

The associated articles & documents linked it to in both articles make the whole thing pretty clear for anyone who cares enough to try to get at the truth of the matter.

So back on topic. The haters have done quite a good job, and the fact that some on the left as well as the right have assured people that anti-Muslim bigotry is acceptable because, “9/11! Al Qaeda! The Muslim Brotherhood! ISIS! etc.” doesn’t exactly help. This crap has gotten really old.

Just when you thought South Carolina couldn’t be any more insane:

…Palmetto State public-school students of all ages would learn about their right to bear arms in lessons designed by the pro-gun National Rifle Association…

Under Clemmons’ proposal… all S.C. students would spend a period every day for three weeks on the topic. Parents could ask to have their children sit out of the lessons.

The required learning would correspond with a newly designated “Second Amendment Awareness Day” Dec. 15 - the day after gunman Adam Lanza massacred 20 children and six educators at the Sandy Hook school…

Students would ponder what forefathers meant by “arms” - muskets or AR-15s? They would discuss the constitutionality of gun laws and “the underlying causes of gun violence, including mass shootings.”

The bill also would ban teachers from discouraging or punishing “political, written, or artistic expression that includes references to guns or a militia.”

Clemmons’ bill would require the gun-control-fighting National Rifle Association write or recommend the course content.

According to a sizable contingent that includes people in positions of power, every time a Muslim does something bad anywhere in the world, regardless of whether s/he was motivated by Islam or not, the entire religion and all it’s followers shoulder the blame. It’s ridiculous & not at all indicative of critical thinking.

Precisely…just look at the date they picked for their “Second Amendment Awareness Day”, because it’s no accident that they picked the date after the Sandy Hook anniversary.

The grocery stores will be open on Christmas, but even though we won’t actually be engaging in any festivities (that will be later, when everyone can actually get together) I won’t go to the store on Christmas. Most of those employees should be home with their families, and I don’t want to encourage the management to think there’s a reason to be open.

I went today, was going to buy a ham and scalloped potatoes for the Christmas dinner. It’s just me, and the smallest ham was 17.00. Seemed ridic, so probably just scalloped potatoes and tomatoes. Unless I get all weird about it and go out again tomorrow.

Get a ham steak. : )

You know, if I was going to nearly die after drinking eggnog, I’d hope it was at least the good stuff.

A Utah man says he’s fully recovered after he was hospitalized for chugging a quart of eggnog so quickly that he inhaled some of creamy holiday beverage into his lungs.

Ryan Roche from Utah County told KSL-TV that he participated in an alcohol-free eggnog chugging contest at a holiday office party earlier this month.

If you’re going to drink it that fast, it should just be the cheap stuff. You won’t be able to taste it anyway.

my atheist winter solstice greetings:

share love with your family and friends this holiday season since we are living on a small fragile planet lost in an infinite meaningless void and that can be kind of scary at times unless you have your arm around somebody and maybe a festive spirituous libation wouldn’t hurt as well

be nice to strangers, too, since we all know this is the right thing to do and even though probably nobody will ever hold you to account here or after you’re dead for any meanness that makes another person’s life a little darker, the real reason you don’t do mean things is that you will have trouble living with your conscience if you do it

i mean you would feel really unhappy about it, wouldn’t you?

and don’t forget to look up into the sky and have your breath taken away by how unbelievably beautiful it is with all those so unimaginably far distant fireballs swirling around up there obeying the laws of gravity and stuff and having incredible eons long super neat amazing combustion lifecycles and how cool is physics after all just learning about it just makes you realize how amazing and miraculous and full of wonder the universe is just by itself even if you only use the math
