Interesting.
The woman—referred to in court papers as Jane Doe #3—leveled the allegations Tuesday against Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz and Britain’s Prince Andrew, as well as British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell and French model scout Jean Luc Brunel.
[…]
“One such powerful individual that Epstein forced then-minor Jane Doe #3 to have sexual relations with was former Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, a close friend of Epstein’s and well-known criminal defense attorney. Epstein required Jane Doe #3 to have sexual relations with Dershowitz on numerous occasions while she was a minor, not only in Florida but also on private planes, in New York, New Mexico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands,” the legal pleading added.
[…]
Dershowitz said in a follow-up interview after this post first appeared Wednesday that he’s planning to file bar complaints against Edwards and Cassell for inadequately vetting their client’s story.“I’m planning to file disbarment charges against the two lawyers who signed this petition without even checking the manifests of airplanes or travel itineraries, et cetera,” he said. “I’m also challenging the young woman and the lawyers to level those charges against me outside of the courtroom, so that I can sue them for defamation…..Finally, I’m challenging the woman to file criminal charges against me because the filing of false criminal charges is a crime.”

Sorry to hear you were under the weather. On the other hand, brisket is always good, especially a nice slow cooked one that is full of flavor. I’ve done it as a braise with my provencal sauce, it was fantastic. Good brisket is one of my favorite things on the cow.

Wiki:
Jeffrey Epstein (2006)
Dershowitz provided legal assistance to friend and reported billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was investigated following accusations that he had repeatedly solicited sex from minors. Dershowitz investigated some of Epstein’s accusers and provided both the police and the State attorney’s office with a dossier containing information about their personal behavior, which had been obtained from their personal MySpace pages, including allegations of alcohol and drug use. Eventually, in 2008, Epstein pled guilty to a single state charge of soliciting prostitution and began serving an 18-month sentence.[28]
15 | Prof. Backpfeifengesicht, PhD Jan 1, 2015 12:48:24pm |
“Many people comment there is something innocent, almost childlike about Jeffrey Epstein. They see this as refreshing, given the sophistication of his surroundings. Alan Dershowitz says that, as he was getting to know Epstein, his wife asked him if he would still be close to him if Epstein suddenly filed for bankruptcy. Dershowitz says he replied, ‘Absolutely. I would be as interested in him as a friend if we had hamburgers on the boardwalk in Coney Island and talked about his ideas.’”

Interesting that this now mother of 3 living in Australia gave an interview to The Daily Mail. She was married in 2002 (at age 19) to an Australian martial arts pro in Thailand, allegedly on a trip on her own paid for by Epstein to Thailand.
This article specifically states that Andrew did not have sexual relations with her. The article shows a 17 yr old Virginia Roberts standing close and smiling with Andrew’s arm around her waist.
Note that “Plaintiff #3” was 15 yrs old in 1998—making her born in 1983 and she would now be 31 yrs old. At the time these incidents allegedly started, she was working as a changing room asst at Mar-A-Lago where her father was maintenance mgr, and because it was Ghislaine Maxwell, Robert Maxwell’s daughter, who she says told her she could earn more money learning massage, her father was not “apprehensive”.
I’m not saying Epstein is innocent, or that the others are particularly, but the charges against various other people sounds as though the first time Roberts sued (in 2009) wasn’t enough, although the case was dismissed with prejudice on 12/8/09 and she is probably one of many who settled w/Epstein.

UFOs in the ’50s skies? CIA admits: ‘IT WAS US’
1 Jan 2015 at 09:38, Team Register
The US government’s Central Intelligence Agency has ‘fessed up about reports of UFO sightings in the 1950s by playfully tweeting “it was us”.
It linked to a document entitled The CIA and the U-2 Program 1954-1974 (PDF), which was first published in 1998.
The admission explains only about half the UFO sightings, and they are still zip-lipped about Area 42.

Big blue heron sanctuary about 4 miles down the road from me. I sit on my favorite bars back deck and watch the wildlife along the river. Blue heron, eagles and osprey all fishing the same stretch of water right there along with ducks and geese. An osprey hovering while hunting is something to see.
I have been back there and seen a heron in the water under a tree that an eagle was fishing from, and along comes an osprey heading down river fishing. Only thing missing was some deer crossing the river (which they do frequently in that stretch also). A great place to relax after work.

One of those times when I wished I had a video camera in hand:
Once while in an underdeveloped part of the west coast of Florida, I heard a lot of squawking and turned around to see two flying osprey’s fighting over the same fish, one osprey flying on top, the other flying upside down.
As the ospreys tumbled past out of sight, they were followed in flight by an opportunistic juvenile bald eagle waiting for the ospreys to drop the fish.

“…True to Wall Street form, the opinions in Morning Money are offered with rock-ribbed confidence, and any dissenting view is waved away as not just wrong, but as pure stupidity, the product of a feeble mind unable to grasp the complexity of men’s work: dark pools or flash trading or credit default swaps.Morning Money Ben, to be clear, is not the problem. He is merely a symptom of a very disturbed culture, one that finds itself at the top of society’s food chain, yet feels constantly under siege; one that holds itself up as the essence of meritocracy, its wealth the only evidence needed of its greatness, yet is almost universally derided. Squaring these nettlesome inconsistencies — call it comforting the afflicted — is the daily charge of Morning Money Ben.”

Scalise is a neighbor of Kenny Knight. Kenny Knight contributed $1000 to the Scalise campaign. Once said he was “David Duke without the baggage.” David Duke speaks highly of Scalise. Scalise once said he admired David Dukes conservative views. Scalise released a statement regretting to have spoken at the EURO conference.
Now they’re telling me he wasn’t at the EURO conference and that there’s nothing to see here?

This is going to sound weird, but get a tube of anchovy paste. Squeeze out just an inch or two into the onions as you saute / sweat them out. Makes a huge difference. I also use it anytime I’m doing a sauce with tomatoes, adds a lot of depth, and no fish taste at all.
Got that trick from my Dad.

Question for the LFG LGF Baking Contingent….
I am planning on making cupcakes, but the cake mix box says it makes 24 +/-. I’ve only got one cupcake tin, would it be ok if half the batter sat for the 30 minutes or so the first batch took before I portioned out the second batch?
Should I put the batter in the fridge? It’s just a standard Devils Food Cake mix.
Otherwise, I’ll just end up baking the whole thing as a sheet cake.

You can make half the cupcakes in one batch and then the rest of the batter in the next batch. The batter won’t degrade in the 15 minutes or so that it takes to bake one batch.
Use cupcake papers, makes them easier to remove from the pan.

I don’t recall having issues with the batter sitting, but I haven’t made cupcakes in quite a while. If the packaged mix is using double-action baking powder for leavening it needs both moisture *and* heat.

There aren’t many politicians who can do oratory; Mario Cuomo could, and did to great effect. You could agree or disagree with his politics, but the one thing you couldn’t deny was that he knew how to give great speeches. They were a thing to behold.
He was governor in NY back when I began taking an interest in politics, and the one thing I never forgot about his speaking is that he loved New Yorkers, and that he always thought he was doing what was best for the state.
