When Rand Paul says, “No, the GOP is absolutely not doing that thing you think they’re doing,” be assured that yes, they very definitely are doing that thing.

Case in point: No, the GOP Is Not at War With Science - Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Lamar Smith.

Sen. Paul and Rep. Smith are trying to tell you how great it is that the GOP is going to be deciding how the nation spends its funding on science. And based on their histories, we can be sure there won’t be any money going to studying climate change, just for starters.

Lamar Smith, by the way, is a Christian Scientist who believes gravely ill people can be healed through prayer alone.

But to be sure, the GOP isn’t against all science; if it’s the kind that causes things to blow up or people to die, they’ll open the checkbook.

This country is about to find out what a horrible mistake we’ve made by handing control of the National Science Foundation to dishonest right wing fanatics.
