Video: Ron Paul Defends 9/11 Truther’s “False Flag” Article on Charlie Hebdo

Ron Paul does the classic right winger’s Diversionary Two-Step Shuffle

A few days ago an article by long-time conspiracy peddler (and 9/11 Truther) Paul Craig Roberts was posted at the Ron Paul Institute’s website, alleging that the terror attack against French journal Charlie Hebdo was a “false flag,” the favorite trope of far right loons everywhere.

Today Ron Paul appeared on Newsmax TV (yes, there is such a horrible thing in the world) and actually tried to defend Roberts and his demented article, with a stream-of-consciousness word salad that even included Benghazi: Ron Paul Is Just Asking the Question: Was the Charlie Hebdo Attack a False Flag Operation? | Right Wing Watch.

Charles Johnson,

And Ron Paul wants us to think that he’s fit for the presidency?

4 Backwoods_Sleuth  Jan 16, 2015 1:21:56pm
“I think he suggested it, he wanted a discussion and he has some really good things in there,” Paul said. It’s a shame that the media doesn’t pick up and say ‘what about this chief investigator of the event committed suicide right in the middle of it?’ I have no idea what’s going on there but that to me is big stuff.” - See more at: rightwingwatch.org

That man was one of many investigators. This particular man had been suffering from depression for some time before the attack (to the extent his co-workers were worried) and killed himself after interviewing the family of one of the victims.

To make this “evidence” of a false flag conspiracy is disgusting.

Libertarians seem to be leading the crazy conspiracy BS—always. At least, they call themselves libertarians.

After all, we know the regular RWNJs are just making shit up because they’re desperate reactionaries.

And will Kennedy swing SCOTUS in favor of same sex marriage and against a state’s “right” to ban it? We should know in June.

14 BlueGrl21  Jan 16, 2015 1:43:04pm

It would be irresponsible not to speculate.

Not even the craziest of my pet Conservatives are picking up this one and sending it around. Even they are thinking it’s too insane to be plausible. And believe me, some of these people have the intelligence of an igneous rock.

Family. I love them dearly. They’re every stereotype you can think of. But not even they are crazy enough to pick this up and promote it.

Sometimes, the Blog’s Five Minute Rule regarding any public pronouncement associated with any member of the Paul family seems a mite generous.

They can dance around it all they want, but these are the politics that produced both Crazy Uncle Liberty (!) and his son, Senator Aqua Buddha. They made their political bones hanging out with the dingiest fringe characters on the American political scene. They were formed as public people there

esquire.com

and

...a speech given by brogressive hero Rand Paul this week to a rapt audience of prime conservative meatheads at the Heritage Foundation in Washington. Not only will you find it a clear validation of the Blog’s Five Minute Rule when it comes to any political pronouncement by any member of the Paul family, but also, you will see in Aqua Buddha’s words a view of the United States that you and I — and FDR, for that matter — thought long dead and buried…

…he would take us altogether back to the days of slave wages, child labor, unbridled carnage in the workplace, and legally enforced serfdom within the American corporation.

I double quoted the same thing rather than this:

That dollar figure, higher than just about every other cable channel besides ESPN and TNT, demonstrates Fox’s power in the American television universe. Ten years ago the channel, a favorite among conservatives, was making just 25 cents per subscriber. It can now command six times as much.

The $1.50 price tag was reported Thursday night when Fox News struck a new distribution deal with Dish Network, ending a nearly month-long blackout.

If some of these wingnuts move about half an inch farther to the right, they’re going to cross over into the moronic convergence zone and start spouting the antisemitic CT’s I’ve seen on the far left along with their anti-Muslim B.S.

It’s just a matter of time. Hell, Upchuck was not very subtly dancing around the whole “It was the Israelis!!” CT last Sunday with a post about how back in 2006 CH was supposedly going to publish Iranian-sponsored lampoons of the Holocaust. He claims not to know whether they were actually published or not, and the NY Times article he cites as a reference doesn’t indicate where the author got his info from.

I tried to verify it, but the only non-RWNJ source I could find was in a book named Drawing France: French Comics and the Republic which cited the same NY Times article in its footnotes. Weird rumor… Maybe it had something to do with the Iranian sponsored “International Holocaust Cartoon Contest”.

“at least 19 paramilitary Muslim training facilities” in the US

It’s a funny thing. When you ask the question, “Really? Where are they located? Can you get me the addresses?”….they just don’t seem to have that level of evidence.

Or, “Can’t say, this is a national security issue.” “OK, so you have a source in the intelligence community that is leaking information to you, is that what you’re saying? And you’re going on a show to leak that classified information basically on their behalf, correct?”

I should have been a freaking interviewer.

I’ve been noticing several channels on Fios that air old movies, old tv shows and a gazillion lawyer and old geezer ads, are small local indie channels that have changed their formats in the hunt for bigger bucks by not broadcasting the news or paying for syndicated shows. Much less overhead I’m sure. It’s the programmed radio model carried over to tv. Add to that their cut of subscriber’s fees and it’s a money mountain.

I don’t really know what to think, but reading this article does make me wonder if this latest allegation is about throwing things against the wall until something sticks. In 2008, Cosby would have been 71, and BTW, the statute of limitations on this alleged crime is probably set to run this year. Even if most of the previous allegations did happen years ago when a much younger Cosby was at the height of his popularity (and sometimes fame and money can make a person feel invincible and able to do as they wish), this latest charge does border on being a bit specious. I’m not defending him, but entertainers and celebrities are easy targets, esp ones who behave badly. The persons they portray are never the person they really are.

If Cosby’s lawyer can prove with documentation that Cosby wasn’t in LA at the time of Ms. Goins’ claim and the police find no evidence of probable cause, there will be no case and she is either mistaken or lying. Someone making false accusations tends to piss me off, since I was a kidnap/rape victim twice in my life. False allegations cast a pall over girls and women who are victimized every day.

Lawyer: Cosby wasn’t in Los Angeles at time of alleged abuse

Probably. The interesting thing will be to see if any teams pick him up. After all, Michael Sam was considered too much of a distraction because he was gay. Wonder if the teams will consider Ray Rice to be too much of a distraction?

Sadly, I suspect not.

Alex Rodriguez will be taking the field in Spring Training later this year. It’s only Teh Ghey that is the problem.

Rice could have received nothing.

Which lawyer got the other lawyer to cave in with the “best” argument?

I don’t think the legal arguments care that he was a jackass. If his lawyer could show that proper protocol wasn’t followed for the termination, he was going to win. That they settled indicates that they also think that was likely, because I don’t think the lawyers would have cost that much.

“No-go zones” in Paris do not exist. There are indeed dangerous parts of Paris, but in none of them does “sharia reign”. Here’s a link that shows what “sensitive areas” really look like within Paris proper: medium.com

The housing projects outside the city are another matter, but these terrorists weren’t living there.

I don’t post this to praise Krauthammer but instead to criticize him, for my comment was in response to his writing this:

Paris marks Phase 3: coordinated commando strikes in Western countries by homegrown native-speaker Islamists activated and instructed from abroad. (Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula [AQAP] has claimed responsibility for the Charlie Hebdo killings, while the kosher-grocery shooter proclaimed allegiance to the Islamic State.) They develop and flourish in Europe’s no-go zones, where sharia reigns and legitimate state authorities dare not tread.

If you thought some of upchuck’s pixel experts were insane, check out some of the geniuses at Kos, explaining how “obviously it’s a shop and a bad one at that” about the recruiting poster photo. Even after it’s proven to them that it’s real, they won’t give it up.

One in particular is hilarious (his/her mother played tag with Linda Ronstadt, so I guess that provides a special sort of expertise.)

Now blow it up in Photoshop. The “shadow” on the upper and and lower right legs has been drawn in. The line is too straight, too perfect. And there is no droop off in the light. Its pure black and then its tan sidewalk (Upper right). Now look at the “shadow” of the lower right. Its darker than the black leg that is supposed to be making it. And it too is perfectly straight. Now compare the angle of the shadows between the back right leg and the back left leg. They are different. The only way that happens is if there are two light sources.

Now extend the shadow to the left side. OOPS!! The faker forgot to make the shadow disappear behind the leg. The leg is casting a “shadow” the wrong way, to the inside of the leg instead of to the outside. The only way it could cast to the inside is if another light source stronger than the sun were present to the LEFT of the leg and left of the shooter.

For this picture to not be a fake, we would need to have more than one sun.

Did it open and close with normal force? Most garage doors have springs to counterbalance the weight of the door. The springs have a limited lifetime and if they break the door opener can’t lift the weight of the door. If it required a lot of effort to lift, that could be your problem.

If it opened with normal effort, see if the drive chain/belt from the opener has broken. Otherwise, it could be a sensor or the motor died.

Toilets should not require batteries. Also, all those germs you’re avoiding by being ‘touch free’? They’re probably all over your bathroom from the mist thrown up by flushing.

179 klystron  Jan 16, 2015 5:31:50pm

So it turns out that the new project is a lot faster than the last project. I’ve almost found the lower left corner already, from the center, at which point I start working back up and over.

It took me two months to accomplish that on the last one.

I dunno, but I’m grateful we have them. An old friend of mine who visited her aunt in Ireland in the ’60s said flush toilets were almost non-existent outside the big cities like Dublin. She said you could still find holes dug in people’s gardens they used. And I knew of houses in the Charlotte area that still had out houses in the early 70s, a concept that was not unknown to me since we lived for a short period before my mom died in Huntersville, which was pretty much just a railroad crossing in the late ’40s, not the Charlotte bedroom community it is today. Not really unusual, since wells and outhouses were pretty common all over the country.

Argh. My garage door opener suddenly decided to stop working. Had to open and close it manually today. Hope it doesn’t need to be replaced.

If it uses the 2.4GHz ISM band, it might be related to proliferation of Comcast routers, squatting on a lions share of that public-use spectrum.

I lived with my grandparents from late 1966 to early 1968. They didn’t get running water or flush toilets until 1970.

If the door opener has local wired controls (as most do by the door inside) they would still work in that case. So easy way to help troubleshoot.

193 RealityBasedSteve  Jan 16, 2015 5:47:06pm

re: #154 A Cranky One

Did it open and close with normal force? Most garage doors have springs to counterbalance the weight of the door. The springs have a limited lifetime and if they break the door opener can’t lift the weight of the door. If it required a lot of effort to lift, that could be your problem.

If it opened with normal effort, see if the drive chain/belt from the opener has broken. Otherwise, it could be a sensor or the motor died.

And a word of advice, don’t even THINK about messing around with that torsion spring that acts as the counterweight. It will break your arm (if you’re lucky) in a heartbeat if you don’t know what you’re doing. That’s one of those home-repair tasks I’ll turn over to a pro in a heartbeat.

You can always check for correct wiring by touching your tongue to a pair of contacts.

I do all my own electrical, mechanical, plumbing, appliance repair, etc. Only job I paid someone else to do in years? Replace the garage door springs.

A house for cars.

Could have used one this morning. Car all iced over, taking about 10 min to clear everything off (even w/rear defroster and front).

We have a phenomenon explained as wet fog descending on the roads with sub-freezing temps, giving it a thin, icy coating. Pretty scary a few times as I cruised 10 miles below the speed limit, taking the munchkin to school.

Got home, realized I hadn’t eaten anything all day, and didn’t feel like really fixing anything heavy. 15 minutes later I had nice plate of Hash Browns, omelet with Ham, Onion, Mushroom and Cheese and a cup of hot choco. I love cooking on my griddle, makes me feel like I’m at a Waffle House. That was actually a requested gift from several Christmases ago, and I use it all the time.
