Just Another Outburst of Anti-Muslim Hatred in Texas

These people are un-American, and I’m not talking about the Muslims
Wingnuts • Views: 39,468

YouTube

Right wing loons are always demanding that Muslims renounce terrorism and show their loyalty to the United States.

And this is what happens when they do.

Texas Muslim Capitol Day, which began in 2003, is organized by the Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and brings members of Muslim communities in Houston, Dallas and other areas of the state to the Capitol to learn about the political process and meet state lawmakers. Texas has the eighth-largest Muslim population in the United States, with more than 420,000 Muslims residing in the state, according to estimates from the Texas State Historical Association.

Even before participants in Thursday’s event — about 100 Muslims, mostly children — could get to lawmakers’ offices, they encountered opposition from a group of about 25 protesters outside the Capitol holding signs. One said, “Radical Islam is the New Nazi.” Another said, “Go Home & Take Obama With You.”

The Muslim group held a press conference on the South steps of the Capitol, where one of the protesters yanked the microphone from an event organizer, shouting, “Islam will never dominate the United States and by the grace of God, it will never dominate Texas.”

As the group of Muslims continued the event by singing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the interruptions persisted, with the protesters yelling, “Islam is a lie!” and “No Sharia here!”

And state representative Molly White played a major role in inciting this bad craziness.

Freshman state Rep. Molly White, R-Belton, is not in Austin today to celebrate Texas Muslim Capitol Day. But she left instructions for the staff in her Capitol office on how to handle visitors who are, including asking them to declare allegiance to the United States.

“I did leave an Israeli flag on the reception desk in my office with instructions to staff to ask representatives from the Muslim community to renounce Islamic terrorist groups and publicly announce allegiance to America and our laws,” she posted on Facebook. “We will see how long they stay in my office.”

Remember folks: Bill Maher and Rush Limbaugh BOTH want you to believe that there is no such thing as Islamophobia.

The flag of their enemy causes all Muslims to spontaneously combust unless they are truly moderate, peace-loving people who can be converted to Christianity.

I try to keep from posting political stuff on facebook - I’ve run most of my friends off anyway - but since I’m in Texas, I posted that with the comment “Yay, Texas. Way to prove we understand neither religion nor patriotism.”

How about these shitheads denounce Anders Behring Breivik and Scott Roeder before they lecture another group about the need to denounce terrorism? Stupid fucks.

Because her foreign policy concepts are based on New Testament self-insert fanfiction where God’s Chosen People have a nation…but more importantly have this totally awesome friend called America with a skateboard and a baseball cap turned backward and laser beam eyes and a catchphrase.

They fight crime.

Is Poochy still a meaningful cultural reference? Because what I’m saying is these people are like Homer Simpson inventing Poochy.

re: #8 The Ghost of the Vanishing Commissar

Do Israelis really like to see their flag co-opted by ignorant religious fanatics in America? Or do they see them as allies in the fight against Islamic extremism on their own turf?

You’d figure a group of people who despise the Haredim would be outspoken on their flag being defiled by hate-filled nutjobs. It’s as if they want the Israeli flag to be equated with the Confederate flag, as a source of provocation. It’s pathetic now.

I don’t get the Pledge, even though I grew up reciting it, the practice went away, but came back after 9/11.

I hate it.

It’s flagolatry.

ISIS would be proud. They, honestly and seriously, should enter into a pact with the Texas lege, AFA, and other like groups to define and negotiate Muslim and Christian (NOT non-evangelicals) “zones”.

Think I’m whacked? Tom Metzger and Louis Farrakan once met, and did exactly that. Both men, after all, were confirmed separatists.

Still wonder WTF he is talking about?

If it’s the shops, they’re:

A.) Hosted by Twitter.

B.) Transformative, non-commercial, and are covered under commentary / criticism.

The purpose and character of the use.

How is the original work being used, and is the new use commercial? Transformative uses add something to the original work: commentary, criticism, educational explanation or additional context are a few examples. Transformative, non-commercial uses are more likely to be considered fair use.

The nature of the copied work.

What is the copied work itself? Is it factual (example: a record of a historical event) or fictional (example: a novel or Hollywood blockbuster)? Uses of factual works are more likely to be protected.

The amount and substantiality of the copied work.

How much of the work was copied? Short excerpts are more likely to be protected than copies of entire copyrighted works, if the use meets other factors as well.

The effect on the copied work’s value.

Will the copying harm the potential market for the copyrighted work by effectively creating a substitute or replacement for that work? If so, the use is probably not fair use.

No matter what though, I am so glad to be a Muslim in America as opposed to being one in the UK:

In Oxfordshire, the Year 10 pupil at a secondary academy, rated as “good” in its latest Ofsted report, said the massacre had been raised during a history lesson.

A formal complaint about the incident, obtained by The Independent, alleged that the teacher had “expressed his desire to purchase t-shirts with cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad as a way to challenge Muslims who are offended”.

The report said the teenager, whose parents have asked that he remain anonymous, was the sole Muslim in his class and had felt “unfairly targeted and belittled” by the discussion.

Shortly afterwards, it is claimed the pupil was confronted by a number of boys in the year above him and slapped. When the victim asked why he had been attacked, it is alleged the same boy slapped him twice more before then calling him a “Paki” and a “terrorist”.

The complaint added that the teenager’s mother was “increasingly frustrated and distressed at the clear targeting of her son and she feels that she is putting her son in danger by sending him to school”. Tell MAMA said it had submitted a complaint to the school and was awaiting a response.

Can anyone imagine a teacher doing such a thing in America?

If you don’t believe Islamophobia is a problem, just take a look at the comments on AOL and Yahoo regarding the TX Muslim Day story. Overwhelmingly vile, hateful, bigoted against Islam, and filled with violent suggestions about how we should handle ALL Muslims, not just radicals and jihadists. Truly the worst kind of insular nativist backlash garbage this side of stormfront. And these are mega-sites with millions of followers and thousands of commenters.

I think we’re actually more Islamophobic as a nation now than in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. I thought those feelings would dissipate over time, but they’ve only grown stronger, at least among older Christians (most of whom believe that the only “real” Americans are other Christians.)
