Pat Robertson Says Satanic Covens Use Facebook to Put Curses on Fetuses

Our lolwut of the day

I’m not sure what’s more disturbing about this clip from Right Wing Watch; that religious right crocodile Pat Robertson thinks satanic covens are using Facebook to put curses on fetuses, or that the woman asking the question apparently is willing to accept this kind of seriously bad craziness at face value.

I knew Facebook was evil but I didn’t know how evil.

Anyone want to search on facebook and see if Pat has an official page or if the 700 Club does. I think Pat’s always been messed up in the head but he’s been losing it even more. I’d almost feel bad for him but he’s using his power and influence to con poor old people out of their money to give to him so he can live a life of luxury. Very Christ like of him.//

I’m pretty damn sure Pat Robertson (and a few others) were exactly who Anthrax was thinking of when they wrote this little number:

How exactly does it cut down on spam? You can still send email or tweet to him with tips (which is how pretty much every other news outlet or blog operates on the planet).

His is the only one that thinks you should pay for the right to give him a tip, for which he’ll gladly smear and dox anyone and everyone.

Pat served with the First Marine Division in Korea, as division liquor officer. His duties mostly consisted of ensuring that the officer’s clubs were adequately supplied with hooch. This was no doubt a challenging assignment but there were considerably more challenging ones available to gung-ho officers.

Pat sued former Congressman Pete McCloskey (who was also in the First Division and had known Robertson there) for publicly revealing this in a 1987 letter. He withdrew the suit, however, and paid McCloskey’s court costs.

Interesting
U.S. had no warning on strikes in Libya by Egypt, a counterterrorism ally

The Obama administration said on Tuesday that Egypt, for decades one of the United States’ closest allies in the Arab world and a major recipient of U.S. military aid, was conducting its strikes on Islamic State targets in Libya without coordination with the United States.

A U.S. defense official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss military action by a partner nation, said the Egyptian government had not provided Washington advance warning of the strikes, which were launched on Monday in response to the group’s beheading of 21 Egyptian Christians on a Mediterranean beach. Neither did the U.S. military provide assistance to Egypt as it carried them out.

It’s a good idea to coordinate with allies but Egypt, like Jordan and other middle eastern countries, may be sensitive to a perception that they need Washington’s permission and guidance.

The Freeper take, of course, is that the Egyptians were afraid Obama would tip off his ISIS friends.

The Freeper take, of course, is that the Egyptians were afraid Obama would tip off his ISIS friends.

I was reading one of Steve Benen’s posts on Maddowblog about the Right’s apparent denial that Obama has actually BEEN attacking ISIS in Iraq and Syria for 6 months now. It’s wild - some members of Congress aren’t sure they want to vote for the AUMF, because they’re not sure he’ll use it, or they don’t trust him to attack ISIS. This is on top of all those posts from the Right about how they wish they had a leader like King Abdullah, willing to attack ISIS - which he’s doing as part of a coalition Obama put together, and in which we’re flying the vast majority of missions!

Their denial runs SO DEEP that they are afraid Obama won’t do WHAT HE’S ALREADY DOING!

This country has a massive mental-health problem; millions of seniors, apparently suffering from early-to-mid spectrum dementia, unable to distinguish between reality and fantasy any more.

Was sitting in the doctor’s office waiting for my appointment and having a discussion with an elderly woman in a wheelchair. She made a comment about how great it was that the Republicans were cutting food stamps, echoing the Fox talking heads about all lazy people sponging off the hard-workers.

I asked if she was aware of how many Wal-Mart employees get food stamps, of how many military families get food stamps, etc. and noted that I didn’t think making the children of hard working folks go hungry was a good thing. Poor woman was shocked; she apparently thought only unemployed “lazy” people got SNAP, and it never occurred to her to think about the impact on children.

Fox “News” is evil.

This is, to me, perhaps the saddest consequence of the 24/7 Fox news hysterical hate content. I couldn’t begin to count the number of stories I’ve heard of families literally being ripped apart by it with people becoming estranged from elderly parents and other family members who have so swallowed the hatefulness they simply can’t function sanely any longer. I ran into one such guy not long ago in the park laundry room who went freaking berserk after I told him I thought the Keystone pipeline wasn’t a good idea and why. (He’d asked my opinion - I didn’t bring it up.) He actually followed me out screaming expletives at me loud enough to draw the park manager out of his office next door. This is not sane behavior. And yes, he spends his waking hours in front of his teevee set to Fox as I heard from one of his concerned neighbors who can’t even talk to the guy any longer.

This is heartbreaking and flat-out evil.

re: #62 Backwoods_Sleuth

wow:

Too many seniors are going hungry

* Millions of older Americans are at risk for hunger. In 2011, 4.8 million Americans over age 60 were food insecure, representing 8.4% of all seniors.

* Food insecurity is growing among older adults. The senior food insecurity rate has more than doubled since 2001. It is expected to continue to rise as the baby boom generation gets older.

Too few seniors are enrolled in SNAP

* 3 out of 5 seniors who qualify for SNAP do not apply. This means that 5.2 million seniors miss out on benefits. Older Americans who qualify for SNAP are significantly less likely to participate in the program than other demographic groups.

* Several factors contribute to the low participation rate. Many seniors face barriers related to mobility, technology, and stigma and are discouraged by widespread myths about how the program works and who can qualify.

Seniors are more likely to be food insecure if they:

* Live in a southern state: 9 of the 10 states with the highest rates of senior food insecurity are in the south (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas, South Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia).

OT Drive-by - This speaks volumes about the current types of people being attracted to “jihadi” terrorism:

“I wanted jihad before I became a Muslim,” Nuttall says in the video, which was played for the jury.

“I just wanted justice. … When 9/11 happened, I became really interested with these people.” […]

The Crown alleges Nuttall and Korody, who were recent converts to Islam, built pressure-cooker bombs and then placed them on the front lawn of the legislature in Victoria hours before Canada Day festivities. The RCMP ensured the bombs were inert, the Crown says.

The court hasn’t heard when Nuttall and Korody converted, but Nuttall suggests he came to Islam already looking for violence.

“The first thing I said when I converted is, ‘How do I worship my God?’” Nuttall says in the video.

“And my second question was, ‘Where is my gun? Let’s go do jihad.” […]

Top Obama adviser reveals what happens when the president loses his temper

President Barack Obama at a presidential debate at the University of Denver. President Barack Obama stunned David Axelrod, one of Obama’s top campaign advisers, during the 2012 election when the president allegedly cussed at him and walked out of their debate-prep session. Axelrod told the story in his new book, “Believer: My Forty Years in Politics.”

Axelrod wrote that he attempted to offer some constructive criticism before Obama’s first debate with Republican nominee Mitt Romney, but Obama wouldn’t have it.

“Mother——-r’s never happy,” Obama said, according to Axelrod, before bolting out of the room.

“That was a first,” Axelrod wrote. “Obama and I had been working together for a decade, through some pretty hairy moments, but he had never before lost his temper in this fashion. He certainly never attacked me so harshly, especially in front of others.”

re: #63 allegro

That is the behaviour of addicts.

As I’ve noted before that unholy Trinity of emotions; fear, anger and hate; trigger the fight or flight reflexes. These reflexes flood the body with norepinephrine to set your body on high speed and dopamine to reduce the fear with pleasure chemicals.

These happen to be the same hormones released by crack cocaine.

So it’s no wonder these people fly into psychotic rages. Like cocaine addicts their brains are always at the edge of exploding.

Rupert Murdoch is one of the most successful drug dealers in the world.

Coming out of probate court, no less. And over a relationship where common law marriage is being claimed.

It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out.

The Attorney General can’t appeal it apparently because he is not a party to the lawsuit, despite being invited to be on it.

Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain through the heads of the Republicans.

An Oklahoma legislative committee overwhelmingly voted to ban Advanced Placement U.S. History class, persuaded by the argument that it only teaches students “what is bad about America.”

And, not to be outdone by her fellow loons, and taking a break from hating blacks, gays and women to focus on school kids, Sally Kern (R-wingnuttia)

claims that all “AP courses violate the legislation approved last year that repealed Common Core.” She has asked the Oklahoma Attorney General to issue a ruling. Kern argues that “AP courses are similar to Common Core, in that they could be construed as an attempt to impose a national curriculum on American schools.”

Just dropping off some good news to counter all the bad:

Faith Leaders Show Solidarity After Islamic School Defaced

The FBI opened a civil rights investigation into the vandalism Saturday night. School officials say the entrance was tagged with orange graffiti that read “Now this is a hate crime,” ”pigs” and offensive references to Muhammad.

Mufti Ikram, the resident imam in North Smithfield, said the person responsible “failed miserably” because “we stand together as a community in our prayers, and we stand shoulder to shoulder.”

Hilmy Bakri, president of the school’s board of trustees, called the graffiti hurtful. “We are one Rhode Island community,” he said.

More than 20 faith leaders and law enforcement officials gathered at the school Tuesday in a show of solidarity. Rabbi Sarah Mack, president of the Board of Rabbis of Greater Rhode Island, said local Muslims have supported the Jewish community during trying times so she wanted to do the same. […]

State AGs are supposed to be notified of lawsuits in which the constitutionality of laws are challenged, and they typically don’t intervene due to having limited resources.
