Well, I remember an Inside Edition clip that got pretty intense. They had to do it live.

I guess O’Reilly tripled down on his show.

See, it’s like this with bullies. They don’t back down.

Conscious, thoughtful people do, when faced with their failings.

We live in a tough world.

Winter storms are taking a toll on me. 13 inches of snow so far this week.
Was -14F outdoors overnight and 35F in the house at 6 am.
The water line to the toilet is still frozen.
And, despite all our best efforts to keep her warm, our goat is in very serious distress.
Another Winter Storm Warning is starting in 45 minutes. Forecast is for 4-6 inches of snow followed by freezing rain.

If one more person on Facebook makes a crack about global warming, I’m gonna go all global nuclear on them.

Saw this article yesterday and it reminded me of bullshit artists like Billo:

A load of excrement forced the closure of the southbound Interstate 65 exit ramp onto Indiana 18 about 1:45 p.m. Thursday.

Apparently a tanker dumped its load, accidentally spilling about 300 or 400 gallons of raw sewage onto the ramp, Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley said, noting that the waste was 6 to 8 inches deep in places on the ramp.

“Nobody sent me, nobody forced me, I went, and that’s what these guys did. And these guys are in much more danger than I was ever in. Although it got a little hairy in The Falklands, that’s for sure.

It got a little hairy “in the Falklands”?

Fuckin’ seriously? There is no defense for this, he’s just flat out lying.

Oh, it was metaphorical. That’s okay then, because Buenos Aires after the surrender is totally metaphorically the same as “the Falklands.”

Metaphorically I’m in Dallas Texas right now. I mean, it’s 1200 miles away but it’s still the same country and everything so it’s totally the same as being there.

In a 2009 interview, O’Reilly claimed other CBS journalists were too fearful to cover this event: “I was out there pretty much by myself because the other CBS news correspondents were hiding in the hotel.” Yet veteran CBS News reporter Bob Schieffer, who was then the lead correspondent in Buenos Aires says, “We were all out with our camera crews that day to cover the protest. I’d been out there with a crew too.”

If the situation affected Billo’s rating, Ailes might move him to a less prominent timeslot. Did that to Hannity. Now that OLielly has tripled down, folks will publicize other examples of his exaggeration or outright lying. We’ll hear about the sexual harrassment again, the Peabody award claims again, etc.

OLielly’s core audience probably won’t care. If they minded hypocrisy they wouldn’t be his core audience.

Tell them to check out the left half the country’s weather and see if they can spot anything amiss for mid-February. And early Feb. And Jan. And Dec. 2014. And Nov. 2014. Anything at all amiss. If you parse Brian Williams’ post-event comments on entertainment shows the same way, he was friggin’ Audie Murphy. He was in a helicopter that wasn’t the chopper that got hit, but that may or may not have drawn AK 47 fire. And they did have to sit down and wait for the front lines to get there. Within what happened, Williams evidently fell to the tug of ego, to dramatize the thing more. When confronted by it, he didn’t deny it.

And then there’s O’Reilly.

OK, I’ve received the OT clearance.

Today was hilarious for my office mate & me.

We were in the break area, downstairs, with a girl from a law firm.

Girl from law firm does the same commute as me. We were talking how we see the same people, sometimes.

I comment, yeah! I see this truck with a KEEP CALM CHIVE ON sticker. I’m always WTF. So random what you see, blah blah blah.

So my office mate calls me from the road, I’m behind the Chive Guy!!!!

laughing so hard. Buy a lottery ticket bitches.

Then, I decide to finally look it up:

A saying commonly used by frequent visitors to the website the Chive. Chivers, as they’re commonly referred to, are known for their worship of actor Bill Murray, pictures of cats, and soft pornography.

This gives me hope.

Also remember that if you starve yourself your body will simply try to become even more efficient at storing those calories. Sadly, only long term sensible eating and exercise are going to be effective.
Now, if your body is telling you that you need a big slab of cake, the you are totally correct in telling your body to shut up.

43 De Kolta Chair  Feb 20, 2015 7:15:05pm

Actually, Bill-o was talking about that time in Buenos Aires when he was seated next to Evita Peron’s stuffed corpse at the dinner table in the presidential palace, and not to go into sordid details (this being a family site and all), but eyelashes were batted and one thing led to another — mummified tongues from both parties were involved — and Juan had him put in front of a firing squad. Luckily Ollie North happened to be in the area searching for Sandinista guerrillas and some primo bud and procured O’Bill-o’s release. To this day, Evita pines for her “dulce Guillaume.”

Anyway, if that isn’t combat I don’t know what is.

helpful hint: if your home thermostat is set uncomfortable (maybe 5-10º too cold in the winter, or 5-10º too warm in the summer) your own metabolism willl burn lots of extra calories regulating your body temp.

Also — 100 calories a day is 10 pounds a year.

What has helped me in the past is to refrain from taking the whole container of dip with me but instead portion out things in the kitchen and put back away. I’d recommend getting a kitchen scale if you don’t have one; they’re helpful for things like baking but also for easily getting an idea of what your portion sizes are.

I’ve been experimenting with salad dressings and did a cilantro lime thing that is still in the experimentation stage but I’m at a pretty happy point with it. I want to figure out a homemade taco seasoning I’d be happier with (I have been resorting to store mixes which have more starch than I would like, but none of the recipes I have tried on the Internet have hit the spot yet).

yep.. for me it’s anything baked. I’ve eaten just about a whole loaf of homemade bread in the course of a day. If I make a batch of cupcakes, I’ll eat a few of them and take the majority over to the community office.

Kitchen scales are a good thing. It’s amazing how what you think is a “Normal” portion is actually much larger than the recommended serving size.

The trouble Bill are not few. He is also alleged to have invented stories in the Middle East, Northern Ireland and even in Buenos Aires during the military dictatorship. In the latter case, the journalist said he survived a demonstration in the Plaza de Mayo where he was persecuted and where several were killed. However the official reports of this event and also the news did not report any casualties that day.

Since Wednesday. :( I had a couple of jugs of water that I had put aside for a “Daily Flush”, but it’s just not the same thing. I really think that it freezes at the meter box that is located in the driveway. All my lines are well protected and have heat tapes.

Ouch. Your guess sounds reasonable as to the location if it’s affecting the whole house. The water lines and meter should be low enough to prevent freezing but around the meter there’s no insulation so it’s exposed to the ambient temperature.

Only suggestion I might offer (if it happens again or you’re worried it will happen again) would be to get a trouble light (I’d use one with a metal bulb surround) with an incandescent bulb (60-100 watts), suspend it above the meter and then pack some insulation above the light. The meter cover would be open enough for the power cord to go through but the insulation should trap the heat from the light and keep the meter warm.

From my understanding, the best way to lose weight is to not eat meals, but to divy up your allotted calories in 5-6 eats a day. This keeps the metabolism at full speed all waking hours.

Oh, probably should at least say something about what’s being written about at LGF.

The political and cultural right wing in the United States are fucking reactionaries, borderline radical/revolutionary. The John Birch Society has been mainstreamed.

The first black President has made racist sentiments simmer to an exploding boil. Even when President Obama has all the tables turned on him politically for his last two years in office the rhetoric has only gotten more strident and vicious from writers and pundits on the right. It’s only going to get worse.

I’ve said it before in these comments in the past; I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if one of these freshman Republican Tea Party-type congresscritters called the President a n***** on the House Floor. That’s the ultra-cynic in me.

And it’s so fucking true. There’s a ridiculous double-standard with right and left media. Billo will suffer no consequences for being a bold-faced liar. Can’t say the same for Dan Rather or Brian Williams.

Today I drove up to Lake Tahoe. I decided to do a side trip to Wrights Lake to see how far up the road I could get before the snow became impassable. Wrights Lake Rd is a left turn off of highway 50 about 5 miles past Kyburz at about 5400’ altitude. Normally at this time of year it should be closed at highway 50 and snow behind the gate. I drove up to the first crest at 6800’ without any snow in sight, after that about 25% of the road had snow up to six inches deep and made it to Wrights Lake at almost 7000’ without even going out of 2WD. At the lake snow cover on the ground was about 40-50% and still only eight inches deep at the most. Here are pictures of the lake (with Desolation Wilderness in the background) and a campsite.

re: #211 William Barnett-Lewis

Sounds like you’re making nice progress. Guessing you’re already working on some tunes. The little practice amps have an “overdrive” mode; turn that way up and the primary gain down (to control the volume) and you’ll get a more distorted, interesting tone.

I have a brain that’s always doing ten things at once. My brain just doesn’t let some things go, churning away in the background when I’m dealing with an issue, no matter what else I’m doing. What I love about playing guitar is that I’m doing so many things at once that it actually pushes some of the background noise away. Between fingering with the left hand, picking with the right, keeping the rhythm, recalling the lyrics and singing the part of my brain that frets doesn’t get much bandwidth. So for me, it’s a great way to relax in addition to just being fun.

Enjoy!

Going thru my closet, I realized I had a unassembled Land Raider just sitting their waiting to be built.

Looks like the Night Lords are getting an upgrade.

Land Raider

The standard Land Raider, also known as the Land Raider Phobos, is an Imperial main battle tank and troop transport which serves as the “armoured fist of the Space Marines.” Available to the Space Marines, the Traitor Legions of the Chaos Space Marines and the forces of the Inquisition, it is one of the most resilient and iconic vehicles in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The Land Raider’s heritage predates even the founding of the Imperium of Man, yet it remains the single most destructive weapon in the Adeptus Astartes’ arsenal. Protected by bonded Ceramite and Adamantium armour, the Land Raider is nearly impervious to all save the most destructive weaponry. Equally impressive are the Land Raider’s armaments: 2 Twin-linked Lascannons and a Twin-linked Heavy Bolter allow the Land Raider to deliver punishing fire support capable of decimating enemy infantry and armour alike.

I think he’s outsourcing the data collection to Google+, judging from the source code for that page. Nevertheless, no one should be providing him name, phone, Twitter handle, etc., from a WordPress form page, even if the content is going to a secure Google+ database server. The form page is not secure, and unscrupulous types could intercept the information.

Twitter won’t even remove Upchuck for his vile and venal crap, so why should they cooperate w/the French on what commenters to this story consider “censorship”? While censorship is a consideration (a slippery slope), asking cooperation in taking down obvious accts like terroristic recruiting and propaganda accts of any kind, is a different can of worms. People have been removed for less. And these social media sites are worldwide, not confined to a specific area of the world, just because they might be headquartered in Silicon Valley.

France asks US internet giants to ‘help fight terror’

Google, Facebook, Twitter asked to immediately remove “extremist propaganda” when French authorities alert them to it.

aljazeera.com

I’ll bet if I opened a FB account and had nothing on it but hate and threats against Mark Zuckerberg, it would be removed. I really don’t know what standard that social media outlets use before they remove a user, but it doesn’t appear they pay a lot of attention to the facts of those who request that something be done, when the evidence is out there for everyone to see, as we have seen in the past. You have a right to your opinion, of course, but acting on it in to the detriment of another person or in a violent and/or deadly way is not your right under any circumstances. Don’t give people a platform from which they are able to fulfill those kinds of goals.

I don’t expect social media outlets to follow the dictates of any government entities, but I do expect them to investigate complaints seriously and thoroughly to prevent any immediate damage, no matter who complains. The internet should be a safe and secure place for people to go, not a medium that imperils the reputation, safety and security of their users, no matter if it’s an individual or a group involved.

NWS says slight chance of something here today but at least it will get above freezing for the first time all week. Grandson said he encountered snow and sleet in the mountains overnight, and today he’ll make his 3rd trip in a row up there. I didn’t think this front would get below I-40.

“Today A slight chance of snow before 1pm, then a slight chance of snow and sleet between 1pm and 2pm, then a chance of rain after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 37. South wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow and sleet accumulation expected.”

That dissenting judge is entitled to his opinion, but IMO he’s wrong. If the state constitution of Ohio gives control of oil and gas production to the state government, then local governments may not ban what the state chooses to permit. It’s called ‘preemption’ and its perfectly legal for state governments to do.

But here the DM reports on a much more EPIC FAIL than any they’ve produced recently:

Rudy Giuliani insists he was right to say Obama ‘doesn’t love America’… because future President met a communist in Indonesia when he was NINE YEARS OLD

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has made another attempt to justify his claims that Barack Obama doesn’t love America - claiming it dates back to when the President was nine years old.

Giuliani said that the President’s lack of affection for his country can be attributed to meeting Communist Party members when he was living in Indonesia 44 years ago.

SNIP

Speaking to the New York Daily News, he said: ‘The ideas that are troubling me and are leading to this come from communists with whom he associated when he was nine years old’.

He specifically pointed to Frank Marshall Davis, an American communist organizer to whom the young Obama was apparently introduced by his grandfather.

The President-to-be was living with Stanley Dunham and his mother Ann Dunham in Indonesia at the time.

No need for any of this article’s photos because I already have the graphic that says it all:

The same thing happened to me with Lady Gaga a while back. In my second stint of college a gal played her song “Born This Way” for me. She didn’t tell me who it was, told me to just listen, and I dug it! “This kind of cheesy pop I can get into!” Then she told me who it was. I was a little heartbroken, I’ll admit. “Now I like Lady Gaga. Eww.”

My initial reaction to Lady Gaga is usually “Madonna 2.0”, but she does seem to geniuely care about things like LGBT rights. Maybe I’m wrong, but it seemed like it was part of the act for Madonna; “Lookit me, I’m hanging with Teh Gayz, aren’t I radical???”

WOOT! We are over 100 likes on Team Oscar!

You have no idea what this does for my Hubby. When he signs on and sees new “likes” he is so psyched!

So, for those who accessed the page on fb and liked it—THANK YOU.

Please spread the word and help us get more “Likes”.

I think for every 30 or so likes, we actually get a donation, so SHOUT IT OUT

TEAM OSCAR TIGER WALKS!

I’ll be working on the 2015 logo in the next couple of weeks. I have to get a new picture of Oscar and that involves grooming him. :)

Got one more like added in just now.

Well, I’m outta here. Off to Starbucks, then the Dive Shop. Hop in the van and up to Bonne Terre Mines for 3 dives in the mines on Sunday. I’ll see you all Monday, be good, stay warm and dry. Have a great weekend.

My opinion on Brian and Bill is straight cynical. Suddenly like an unexpected hit pop song, veracity is suddenly important in the instance of two well know media personalities. One pure pundit the other a “news” guy. News that became pretty weak tea over the years. Brian and Bill O.

What of the rest of these guys? What is everyone waiting for? Dig up ten, twenty years of reportage, and ten or twenty years of public commentary and audit it all for truth. Could it be that many are keeping their heads low so as to not also get reviewed? Who dares cast the next stone? Let’s see who has been truthful over an entire career. News needs a housecleaning anyway. Not gonna happen tho is it? Nope, this will blow over in a month or less.

And BTW lets bust CNN for staging up the talent the way they do on location. Too much video trickery going on there.

My two had a loud fight this morning. Very unusual for them. Big young 15 lb Maine Coon cat gets pwned by 17 year old 5 lb cat. Maine Coon cat is very sweet, just does not have any fight in her for her companion. Uninjured due to her thick fur.

It’s such a disconnect listening to people talk about snow this year. I finally broke down and bought a snowblower when it was on sale back on Veteran’s Day. Three of the last four winters before this one had been pretty rough - snowy and unending. We’ve had our share of cold in MN this year, but I have not used the snowblower ONCE so far this season. The Twin Cities hasn’t had more than 3” of easy-to-shovel fluffy snow at a time (although the last one had a layer of ice on the bottom that made it hard to scrape off). I know we still have two more months until we’re in the clear here, but it’s been a weird winter everywhere. The new normal isn’t normal…

It didn’t show much because you bought the snowblower. Really, it’s not a lot of money when you figure the trouble and mess you saved by not having the snow.

Good Choice!

It really did stop the moment I bought it. We were having a storm on Veteran’s Day so I bought it online and ordered home delivery. We were supposed to have another big snow on the day of delivery, but we only got a couple inches and then didn’t get much of anything for another month. Christmas was just barely white in the Twin Cities.

I don’t give the Daily Mail a break on anything, particularly something that is so easily proofread. Journalism 101.

And I don’t get where they called Rudy out very much, as they repeated every obnoxious claim he’s made and, other than the snarky headline, about the most “damning” line in the article is:

Democrats, the White House, and even members of the GOP have condemned his comments and heaped scorn on the retired politician, who was a Presidential contender in 2008.

After all, Rudy has been saying this shit for years, y’all. So why is this time any different? Oh, because Scott Walker was sitting in the audience!
And…to distract from the Dems own issues with DWS and Hillary. The MSM is complicit, and BTW there is nothing racial here!

And wasn’t Williams in a war zone? And wasn’t the formation he was in attacked by RPG’s or some such? I would guess if a platoon was on patrol and the point was attacked they would say the platoon was attacked, not that those guys up there got attacked. So yeah, he embellished. Doesn’t seem BillDoh was anywhere near the fighting, so that is a flat out lie.

About the only thing in that article I can credit Wiegel for is acknowledging the bullshit about how the Iranian Hostage Crisis ended because Reagan became president. The rest is usual “Our shit don’t stink!” business from conservatives about how wrong it is to be caught acting like hypocrites and doing shit that they’d have castrated a Democrat for doing six years ago. They like to engage in selective amnesia, but I remember how much of an uproar there was when the President, as a candidate, attacked Dubya’s piling on of national debt as “unpatriotic.” I also remember the times when the conservative press piled onto Democrats for questioning Dubya’s patriotism.

Oh, and I shouldn’t forget the other bit, which is “There’s more important news!” that wingnuts throw out there when caught in an embarrassing situation.
