Fox Anchor Describes Lady Gaga’s Music With Racial Slur - Jim Hoft and Commenters Think It’s Hilarious

What right wing racism?
Wingnuts • Views: 24,891

So last night following the Oscars, this happened: Ohio Fox Anchor Calls Lady Gaga’s Music ‘Jigaboo’ in Front of Black Colleague.

Kristi Capel then claimed on Twitter that she didn’t know what the word meant.

Is that credible? Difficult to believe — but possible, given the fact that people like Capel don’t get hired by Fox for their intelligence or journalistic experience.

But you can bet that the Stupidest Man on the Internet, Jim Hoft, knew exactly what it meant when he posted this today: VIDEO — Ohio News Anchor on Oscars: All That “Jigaboo Music” | the Gateway Pundit

Well, here’s one opinion.

Kristi Capel from FOX8 in Ohio critiqued Lady Gaga’s performance at the Oscars last night.

“You couldn’t really hear her voice with all that ‘jigaboo’ music, that ‘jigaboo’ whatever you want to call it.”

Capel represented Missouri in the Miss USA pageant in 2006.

And Jim’s readers took it from there. Warning: these comments are so appalling, I’ve hidden them by default. Don’t click the button if you’re not prepared to see the right wing at its absolute worst.

I find it easy to believe that she didn’t know what it meant. I imagine some family member probably once changed the station on the radio, complaining about ‘Jigaboo music’. Probably didn’t catch the racism.

REALLY lame apology, though. “I”m sorry if I offended you”, when she should have said, “OMG, I am so, SO sorry!! I had no idea it meant THAT!!!”

It was bought out by fox in the late 80, but before that, it was CBS. Many of the news people have been on there since forever. For example, Dick Goddard, a weatherman who possibly went to HS with Jesus, is practically Cleveland royalty. Same with Wayne Dawson.
That said, I’ll give this noob the benefit of the doubt. Odds are she heard it from an older person, and as soon as they were off camera, I have a feeling Mr. Dawson called her on the offense. Its not a common slur these days.

75 Justanotherhuman  Feb 23, 2015 2:44:36pm

Let me tell you something. When you’re raised in a family (immediate and extended) that uses vulgarities and slurs towards any ethnic group, that rubs off, esp on kids who don’t know better and are never taught differently, and then you gravitate toward others who do the same . And this woman was probably raised in that atmosphere of bigotry and got away with it numerous times with no one correcting her. I believe it’s in her vocabulary and she thought she could get away with it, even with a Black man sitting there because she simply thought she could.

I was raised that way, but learned quickly that it was not only offensive, but wrong, to treat other human beings as less than I am. Trust me, racial slurs are still used very widely among a lot of white people and I’ve had to upbraid people who thought it was “OK” because I’m white and wouldn’t be offended. I set them straight and they usually don’t like it, because they have no fucking self-awareness nor sense of fairness and equality. Yes, to them Blacks and other ethnic groups are naturally “lesser” than any white person. Always.

Indeed. When we were both kids, my sister used the word ‘dildo’ without knowing what it meant. Neither did Dad, or he had an amazing poker face.

One day my sons went on a walk with my dad. On the final stretch home, my youngest says, “I’ll race you PaPa!”
My dad declined, because it was one of those walk the kids to death so they’ll sleep tonight dealies. He was tired.
Long story short, the little one declares, “Awww, come on, if you don’t race, then you’re a pussy, PaPa !”
Dad just smiled and told him that the word was impolite, and should never be used.
Note: if I ever even thought of Joking with my dad this way…{{shivers}}

re: #75 Justanotherhuman

Always.

I had the whiplash-inducing life lesson of being told that bigotry was wrong for the first 18 years of my life, and then watching the person who imparted that lesson essentially go full metal “Yeah, that’s just something you say to kids when they’re little.”

Amazing accomplishment on the part of the surgical team(s) performing the 26 hour surgery to separate and then rebuild the little girls successfully. 143 A Cranky One  Feb 23, 2015 4:13:51pm

As I’ve mentioned previously, Mrs Cranky gives away most of the quilts she makes. She hasn’t had the habit of photographing the quilts prior to gifting them (a practice which will change thanks to the advice of a fellow lizard), so I don’t have photos of most of her quilts. I’ve been searching for photos of one quilt which has special meaning for me; it’s one of Mrs Cranky’s memory quilts (she makes a lot of memory quilts, in fact just finished four as gifts).

My dad passed away unexpectedly about 10 years ago. We were visiting my mom about 6 months after and she still wasn’t willing to start getting rid of any of my dad’s stuff. My dad wore ties most of the time, but was color blind so my mom always selected his ties. Mrs Cranky finally convinced my mom to let us take all my dad’s ties, promising that they would be returned.

She used the ties to make a memory quilt. Everyone who knew my dad remembers seeing him wear many of the ties, and of course my mom remembers them all. My mom has stated that the quilt is now her most prized possession. Finally got some photos from my brother, who took lots of pictures that Christmas, when the ties were returned as promised. I wish the pictures showed the quilting better; it’s amazing. The quilt also prompted my mom to start donating a lot of my dad’s things.

One other interesting thing about this quilt is that Mrs Cranky used some words she normally doesn’t use during the process of making a quilt. ;) Apparently, sewing all the different fabric types together was not an easy task. But I think the result speaks for itself. So I present one of my favorite Mrs Cranky quilts, the memory quilt made for my mom.

No evidence that measles outbreak in US had anything to do with illegal aliens.

There goes another one of Hoft and Chuckles xenophobic talking points.

Anne Schuchat, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said there was no evidence to support claims made by conservative hardliners that measles is being imported to the US by undocumented immigrants. Most commonly, she said, measles reaches the US through unvaccinated Americans who travel to Europe or Asia.

“I know that immigration is a complicated issue and people have strong feelings about [it],” Schuchat said, speaking in an online conversation hosted by the National Press Foundation. “The thing to say is that the region of the Americas was the first region to actually eliminate measles.”

Schuchat explained that prior to 2000 there was a high importation of measles cases from Latin America, but since then countries in the region have promoted a rigorous public health campaign. Now, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador have higher rates of measles coverage than the US, according to estimates by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Insufficient vaccination in the US is the reason there are outbreaks. Increase the percentage vaccinated by eliminating all but the medical exemption, and you reduce the chances an outbreak occurs.

I have been told by wingnuts that the small GHW Bush tax hikes IMMEDIATELY caused the recession of 1991, whereas the much larger Clinton tax hike of 1993 didn’t cause a recession until 2000.

Not only that, but the Reagan tax cuts of 1981 caused the expansion of 1993-2000.

And the whole Real Estate/Mortgage Backed Securities bubble was caused by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, both of whom were in the minority in their respective houses, and had been since (mostly) since 1995. When asked how they managed to keep Republicans from doing anything to curb the excesses in the mortgage industry, they post a video. Pressed to name the bills that the GOP brought up which Dodd and Frank somehow managed to stop, they call you a libtard and tell you that you don’t understand civics.

Then there’s the Community Reinvestment Act. Passed by Carter in 1977, it somehow waited 25 years to exert its evil influence, even though the vast majority of the bad loans were written by banks that aren’t covered by the CRA, for housing in areas that aren’t covered by the CRA.

BTW, not only did Dodd and Frank manage to stop the GOP from doing anything about the Bubble, but also they apparently managed to exert the same control over country after country in Europe, all while being in the minority in their own country. Truly, they were almost omnipotent!

I’ll be stealing that by the way. I’ll have my European vampire ask his American vampire lover about somebody American who confuses him and she’ll reply, “Well, they were born between Bum-Fuck and You-Gotta-Pretty-Mouth.” She’ll even have that accent right as she’s from Mississippi.

Then she’ll have to explain the ‘You-Gotta-Pretty-Mouth’ reference. Older vampires don’t often tend to be up on the culture of the last century or so.

Kurtz thinks that O’Reilly’s lies are “semantic” issue.

To which he claims that a CSM article proves his point because it states that the Capital became a “battle zone”.

The article:

Widespread public anger spilled over into the streets at midweek as violent demonstrations wracked Buenos Aires. For a time Tuesday evening, police were unable to control angry mobs that turned the Plaza de Mayo, in front of the Casa Rosada (the Argentine White House), into a battle zone.

In the coffeehouses that dot this city, along fashionable shopping streets like Calle Florida, in front of newspaper kiosks, and in parks — just about anywhere that Argentines congregate — there are angry people unable to accept, much less understand, the battle losses in the Falklands.

If you’re describing a battle, you’d mention casualties, damage to property, and interview victims, if any. Here? It’s a throwaway line before getting into what was going on in Port Stanley and whether the Argentine government might survive a coup.

And it all ignores the key fact. O’Reilly claimed he was covering the Falklands War. He wasn’t in the Falklands. He was in Buenos Aires 1,000 miles from the front, ignoring the CBS camera crew rules on how to report on the protests, putting him and his crew in possible danger.

He lied.

As such, he should be fired/suspended. But he wont. It’s Fox. They don’t mind the lies, as long as the ratings flow.

Do you save any of these quilts? They should be put on display in an art gallery.

Mrs Cranky says that quilts need to be used and enjoyed, it’s their nature. She hates the idea of them sitting in a drawer or closet. She puts a different quilt on each bed once a month and we’ve started hanging some in the house. Not sure what’s going to happen when we run out of walls ;)

She has on request modified them for hanging, such as the one she made for my daughter, when they are gifts.

Thanks for the compliment! I agree with you personally ;) She reminds me of many musicians (including myself) who are never satisfied with their abilities no matter what others think.

When I described that post as fucked up, he warned me not to post language like that because his young kids read his Facebook page.

You know, the page where accused the POTUS of being an Arab terrorist.

Fuck that shit.

re: #214 A Cranky One

Mrs Cranky says that quilts need to be used and enjoyed, it’s their nature. She hates the idea of them sitting in a drawer or closet. She puts a different quilt on each bed once a month and we’ve started hanging some in the house. Not sure what’s going to happen when we run out of walls ;)

She has on request modified them for hanging, such as the one she made for my daughter, when they are gifts.

Thanks for the compliment! I agree with you personally ;) She reminds me of many musicians (including myself) who are never satisfied with their abilities no matter what others think.

I would like to offer my freezing self, uhm, I mean my services when you run out of wall space. I promise to give it a good home, lots of love and use, and I’ll stroke it lovingly each and every night.

Just to help ya out, you know?

Funny that they never seem to snap to the concept that if workers have more money in their pockets, they spend it, thus increasing demand for goods and workers to meet the increased demands.

No, silly. Jobs don’t come from demand for goods and services. Jobs are shat out by rich people, but only if they’re sated on tax-free income and wealth.
