Right-to-work fight moves to Senate after abrupt vote

In an abrupt vote recalling the chaotic labor protests of 2011, Republicans pushed right-to-work legislation out of a committee Tuesday night after a day of impassioned testimony and demonstrations, setting up a showdown Wednesday afternoon on the Senate floor.

The proposal has returned bitter labor protests to Wisconsin’s Capitol at a time when Gov. Scott Walker has traded on his past record of taking on unions to move into the top tier of GOP presidential hopefuls nationally.

If passed and signed by Walker in the coming days, the bill would leave police and firefighter unions as the only labor groups left in the state with the full powers that all unions had when Walker and Republicans took control in January 2011.

If Bobby wants to argue that President Obama hasn’t done enough against Islamic terrorism, fine, that’s something we can debate even though it’s arguably crap but to claim that it “disqualifies” him to be president is a load of fucking bullshit. Jindal is pandering to the worst elements within his party on this one. The ones that believe that Obama sympathizes with Islamic terrorists and appearing on Hannity who will not only challenge him on this ridiculous crap but also add his own amount of crazy conspiracies is even worse.

That’s true, but the only thing keeping the GOP afloat as a national party is Texas. Without Texas, they’re nothing but a regional white evangelical party.

My hope is that someday Texas will flip back to being a blue state. At that point the GOP would be forced to come up with real ideas and kick the wingnuts to the curb.
