Yet Another Horrifying Deluge of Hate Speech and Open Racism at Breitbart “News”

Sick

One of the truly awful stories being completely ignored by our “left wing media” is how utterly debased and openly racist the comment sections on sites like Breitbart “News” have become. There’s absolutely no attempt by the owners of these sites to shut down the ranting lunatics or moderate their shocking bigotry. In fact, as I’ve argued many times, this seems to be the right wing media business model these days: to incite the most radical and unrestrained kinds of hate speech in order to keep the conservative base in a constant state of blind, unthinking rage.

Today at Breitbart “News” they’re at it once again, in a post with more than 3,000 comments, almost all of them mind-blowingly hateful and deranged: Protester Taunts Cops After Two Police Officers Shot in Ferguson.

With a title like that, you know where this is headed, and the commenters go right there. I’m hiding these quotes by default, because they’re sickening and not safe for work — or for human consumption, really. But this is what the right wing base looks like.

Sharpton, Holder, Jackson and Obama are four that should have been the ones to take a bullet before either of these cops!

[…]

OK then, just have NO COPS and let the “Law of the Jungle” prevail. The Blacks are probably more accustomed to that anyway.

[…]

Disgusting display of wild animals on the loose. If they hate it here so much they should just LEAVE. Go join the psychotic m_slimes and live like the feral beasts they are. They don’t belong in civilized society.

[…]

It is time to start the race war…and it might as well be in Ferguson, MO. Maybe if the rioting black bastards (literally) saw 10,000 whites with weapons aimed at them, they would back down and go home…if not, stack their bodies like cord wood.

[…]

There are two ways of handling this situation. Either abandon the good people of this area and hand it over to the animals or go in with overwhelming force and
exterminate the vermin. If it throws a rock or a bottle, shoot it. If it tries to burn down a building or throw a Molotov cocktail, shoot it. If it loots, shoot it. You don’t handle a dangerous situation by playing politics.

[…]

I’m a takimag, amren, therightstuff guy. But, you don’t know what those are either do you?

[…]

time to wall of the hood and take care of business………

[…]

pray that the cops start unloading on these worthless pieces ofshit.

[…]

Shame on you for using that slur.

The correct term is ‘Shitskin Americans’.

[…]

Witness how blacks destroy societies.

[…]

Filthy uncivilized mongrels.

[…]

It’s time for America to rid itself from these useless eater’s.

[…]

I say cut off all their EBT’s and let them starve in the hedge rows

[…]

The ss would take care of this problem in no time.

[…]

Turn Ferguson into the Gaza Strip. Pull law enforcement out, fence them in, and let them kill each other.

[…]

It worked great, it was called Jim Crow and kept the Bantus in line and everyone was happier for it…including the Bantu.

[…]

You sound like a Bantu…you must be proud to be in bed with apes.

[…]

They need to evacuate any non-blacks who wish to leave Fergidishu and then let the Bantus have it, after setting up a perimeter to contain the cancer from metastasizing to other more civilized areas.

[…]

All blacks need to be forced onto reservations, or sent back to Africa, their choice. They cannot be part of our society any longer, the experiment was a catastrophic failure.

[…]

Don’t give me that crap. It’s all about genetics. They are unable to create societies like ours, they are also incapable of maintaining white culture. Africa is a sh1thole because of low IQ Africans. They are NOT like us, just read The Bell Curve. Watch them interact with one another.

[…]

All WHITE OFFICERS please leave town and let the planet of the APES take over the Police Force…….in one years there will not be a FERGUSON.

[…]

The mass chimp-outs have been happening in earnest since the 60’s, with
periods of relative calm in certain decades…but yes, the election of
this Marxist rabble rouser and his appointment of a black supremacist
has emboldened the plantation black. Its too late to correct the
problem now I think…Whites have been too complacent and our numbers
are dwindling to the point where we can’t turn this country around. The
nation has to be burned to the ground along with those who will burn
it, and only then can those Whites who survive rebuild it into what it
once was…after having learned some very painful lessons on race
reality.

Those are just from the first few pages; there are thousands like this, and many of them are rated highly by other commenters.

The GOP is implicated in this mess as well. The use of dog whistles gives them some deniability, but it is easy enough to see what’s going on here.

For example, RW commenters of this kind who bother to vote would be 0% democrat votes and 90+% republican votes.

This is not a coincidence.

It’s also no coincidence that Republican politicians have been making dog whistles to these types since the Republicans realized they had lost the AA vote to the Democrats so they decided to pick up the angry white vote. It honestly goes back I think as far as Goldwater and perhaps even further.

I think that’s pretty much the correct time frame. Before the civil rights realignment both parties had mixed records on race (the Democrats had the southern conservative Confederate racists to their discredit, while the Republicans were helped by their liberal wing).

Now the GOP is effectively pro-racist as judged by its policy positions.

I think it really goes back to the Republicans deciding to make Goldwater the nominee in ‘64. Yes, it’s true that most Republicans voted AYE on the CRA-64, same on that Rand Paul is on record of saying he would have voted against by the way but at the same time, they did nominate an opponent of said act for president that year and Nixon spent much of the ‘66 midterms building up relationships with Southern conservatives like Thurmond. It to me is amusing how they can accuse liberals of being the heirs of the Dixiecrats when yet they accuse us also of being big government and not respecting states rights which is pretty much exactly what the dixiecrats said when they were bitching about the Democrats left ward move on civil rights.

From the NYPD cops only forum “Thee Rant” (Not gonna link)

They were protesting outside of the Police Department after the Police Chief had announced his resignation. And now two Cops have been shot, one of them was shot in the face. Yeah It’s time to nuke that whole shytehole.

At about 1:00am. “Protesting”.

I guess they all work 4 By’s.

Once again, blood is all over the hands of Eric Holder and this administration. He makes a speech castigating the police, azzholes who look just like him read that as justification for violence against cops.

What do they want? DEAD COPS!!! {note…the cop who posted this bit of wisdom has a prominent “The Rat Squad Are a Bunch of Cowards” statement…referring to whistleblower cops}

I wonder how Eric “Da Punk” Holder would think if the demonstrators were chanting “what do we want-dead liars-is what we want”?

The Obamas, Holders, and deBlasios of the Democrat political world started this War on Cops, and I would say they are somewhat satisfied with its outcome so far.
The more insurrections they can encourage, the happier the Socialist-Left is in accomplishing their goals.
And there are GOALS that they are aiming for.
And one of them (not to change the subject) is to get Elizabeth Warren into the White House, to continue the what we see today with Obama and his minions pulling her strings. Hence, the war on Hillary Clinton.
None of this is accidental, but highly scripted.
And the 2016 election is right around the corner………

- Two cops shot during protests
- Originally reported - by police - one was shot in the face, the other in the chest (body armor saved his life
- Both are out of the hospital in hours
- All recording devices confiscated as evidence

All I have to say is that’s some dang nice shootin’, Tex. Shoot two cops from how far away and only slightly injure both? Then the cops take the path of saying how badly injured these two cops are (any injury is bad, don’t get me wrong, please).

Since we’re on the subject of disgusting wingnut behavior, day after tomorrow Breitbart and Frank Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy will be hosting something called the South Carolina National Security Action Summit 2015. Here’s the schedule and here’s a list of the confirmed panelists & speakers.

Naturally, the threat of shariah & global jihad will be covered as will immigration and a host of other paranoid nonsense. The usual cast of wingnuts & Islamophobes will be there including, but not limited to: Gaffney, William Boykin, John Bolton, Clare Lopez, Phyllis Schlafly, etc. Presidential hopefuls Rick Santorum and Ted Cruz will be attending also. Oh, and Bobby “Herpty Derp” Jindal. Polishing up their extremist creds, I guess.

I’m surprised Geller & Spencer aren’t on the list especially since, AFAIK (PDF), Gaffney is still an SIOA board member.

I hope Right Wing Watch and Wonkette aren’t taking the whole weekend off.

It would be a very interesting test to see presidential candidates lined up in hotel rooms with cameras installed but out of sight.

Then have a bunch of kids go through each room to be greeted by the candidates.

I have a feeling some of the people that scare us here at LGF would probably scare the kids too. And it wouldn’t be about politics. Just about warmth, realness, a sense of humor and an ability to act like and get down on the level of a kid.

I bet if given this task Mitt Romney would have declined. And the kids would have let out a big squeal upon hearing the news.

If the shooter(s) is/are white, they are a lone wolf and/or acting against federal overreach (since they were fine with protesters pointing guns at police at Bundy Ranch).

106 ramex  Mar 12, 2015 3:32:16pm

That last comment in that long list of hateful comments perfectly sums up what the Republican Party has become. If they can’t have it their way, then they’d rather see it destroyed. It’s terrifying to see it so baldly stated, but I’ve long suspected that’s been at the heart of the party for a long, long while. Perhaps starting way back when Rush Limbaugh said, “I tell people don’t kill all the liberals, leave enough around so we can have two on every campus; living fossils, so we will never forget what these people stood for.” They can’t tolerate anything different from themselves, and if that which they perceive as different prevails, then… scorched earth. I feel sick.

One thing about last night’s shooting in Ferguson that hasn’t gotten nearly enough coverage in media is the fact that supposedly the gunfire came from an area roughly 120 yards away from where the police officers (and the protesters as well) were gathered, and the weapon of choice was a handgun. Of course, just about everybody involved (from law enforcement all the way to media) is calling it an ambush of the police officers, which I’m honestly not sure is an accurate description of what transpired.

The reason I say this is that the effective aiming range of ANY handgun isn’t much more than 100 feet - less than 1/3 of distance that is being reported. For someone to score two upper-body hits on two shots from that range intentionally means either he is a reincarnation of Ed McGivern, or a more likely scenario is that you had some yahoo firing a couple of blind shots toward a crowd of people and these two just happened to be the ones hit. The shooting victims could have just as easily been two protesters, or even a scenario of no one at all being hit was a possibility.

It seems to be a continually sore spot for wingnuts, that no matter how much they hype a “scandal,” it never goes anywhere. F&F? Still tied up in court. Benghazi? On the nth new committee and if Gowdy doesn’t find something, there will likely be another convened. IRS? Stymied by their own irrationality, refusing to offer immunity from prosecution to the person they’re sure holds the smoking gun to go after the White House. NSA? Crashed and burned when Republicans found they couldn’t be against spying and support the Patriot Act.

It must feel like the Clinton years all over again.

As a former West Virginian, you have to realize that West Virginia really doesn’t have much flat space, at least nowhere near enough for even an airport the small size of Yeager, much less a full featured one. Flattening out a hilltop was the best they could do (and it’d likely have to be at a hilltop to avoid any worrisome crashes). Yeager is probably the best they could do within a reasonable distance from the capital and largest city in the state.

Indeed. I saw some students’ jaws drop several times (freshmen, sophomores). It should be required viewing in every classroom in the U.S., along with some other films that will knock that “American Exceptionalism” shibboleth down a few notches.

I was asking myself thinking about the Selma 50th anniversary last week- would I have the courage to do that? I like to think I would have but knowing what people like John Lewis experienced, I just don’t know. The fact that people were actually murdered trying to help African Americans achieve civil rights tells you a lot. And that’s really not something you learn in school. Yes, you learn about the hardships that MLK and the others went through but not really about the murders and furthermore the alliance and sometimes participation of law enforcement in said murderers such as in the killing of Goodman, Chaney, and Schwerner.

I remember watching Cry Freedom in 10th grade history and it effecting me deeply. AT the movie’s end, they go through a list of black South Africans who died in suspicious circumstances at the Apartheid’s regime’s hands and end in 1987- the year I was born. I just thought about how firstly that was really close to my own birth and then that President Reagan, the same man conservatives love to call a champion of freedom turned a blind eye to Apartheid and South Africa simply because they were an anti-communist regime.

Indeed. I saw some students’ jaws drop several times (freshmen, sophomores). It should be required viewing in every classroom in the U.S., along with some other films that will knock that “American Exceptionalism” shibboleth down a few notches.

And as I mentioned the other night—“Freedom Summer” is equally amazing.

I’m so anxious to hear your students’ reaction to “Freedom Riders.” If you have time, please share.

I will summarize, at least. Next week in Spring Break, and I gave them until the Wednesday they come back to answer three questions out of a sheet of 13 - one page each question.

We had a Ferguson panel a few weeks ago with some STL journalists, so there’s been quite a bit of discussion of race in this class (which is sort of a foundations of American Democracy course).

We’ll also be discussing the OU frat case when we get back.

re: #168 HappyWarrior

I was asking myself thinking about the Selma 50th anniversary last week- would I have the courage to do that? I like to think I would have but knowing what people like John Lewis experienced, I just don’t know. The fact that people were actually murdered trying to help African Americans achieve civil rights tells you a lot. And that’s really not something you learn in school. Yes, you learn about the hardships that MLK and the others went through but not really about the murders and furthermore the alliance and sometimes participation of law enforcement in said murderers such as in the killing of Goodman, Chaney, and Schwerner.

What, to me, is even more incredible about John Lewis is that Selma wasn’t his first rodeo. He KNEW what was going to happen, having been a Freedom Rider 4 years earlier, and having been beaten and arrested then.

He’s honestly as admirable as the men who were on Omaha Beach, Iwo Jima, Gettysburg, or the Argonne Forest. A true hero. You’re absolutely right. He knew that he could have been and was in fact beaten but he went anyhow. He really is a true hero and a treasure of the U.S Congress.

Interesting story, and I don’t know if it’s exactly true, but my former pastor once told me, as we pulled into the local Baptist summer camp, that most of them were on top of hills in the middle of fucking nowhere because the people who owned them originally got tax cuts for giving the (worthless, red clay, isolated) land to the church.

Like I said, I don’t know if it’s true, but it sure sounds like a Southern Baptist thing to do.

My kids are learning more in school than I did, and I went for every advanced course I could find. The thing is, stuff like Selma wasn’t taught when i was a kid (I’m 45), so it’s not like they’re suddenly not getting it. They have access to more information now than when I was younger, because a movie like Selma would not have made it to the big screen.

In addition, there’s only so much that kids can be taught at school, and I am constantly teaching them things at home.

I didn’t learn a lot of stuff in history in high school and that was over 30 years ago. Most of what I know I learned on my own or in my home from my dad. I love history.

Oh yes, sometime last year actually. Twitter’s block is very easy to get around, though. A TweetDeck user column does it.

Because at long last is just a silly, masturbatory waste of time to continue to pretend that raking the coals of wingnut arson will yield any useful results.

So stop it, Liberal media. Please just stop it.

Because for far too long to pretend otherwise, the Conservatives in this country have amounted to nothing but a mob of vicious, ignorant asshole holding a gun to the head of my country and baying the same angry, incoherent gibberish that Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh has been shitting into their skulls for years. And trying to address their movement as if it were anything other than a form of madness to be contained and exorcised from the body politic is as pointless as debating pod bay doors with HAL.

I am not remotely interested in their backstory and motives or carefully parsing “what evidence they marshal”. Instead, I am intensely and exclusively interested in getting the gun out of their hand, and care about the tenets and internal “logic” of their lunatic cult only to the extent that I might be able to ransack it for some useful means of putting their movement down like the dangerous, rabid beast it is.

In any case, clueless conservative racists need to greatly clean up their own acts before even thinking of criticizing rap for its lyrics.

I’m gonna cut out early tonight, but I wanted to drop this off first:

You might remember the plight of those poor German homeschoolers who applied for asylum in the USA after the oppressive German government wouldn’t let them teach their kids about Jebus and his pet dinosaur. They really had it rough, and Eric Holder wouldn’t even help them at all, apparently because he’s content to see children abused by having to go to public schools. It was pretty much like the Holocaust, only directed at Christians and with German public school classrooms instead of gas chambers.

Thank heavens, the House of Representatives is going to fix this horrific denial of human rights! […]

Because that’s totally what we need, more RWNJs who don’t believe in public education or science. I just…. I’m done. Later, lizards.

Sir Pratchett would have had tremendous fun with Chuck, just not in the way of Chuck’s fantasy.

Terry was a gentle satirist, who saved his biggest barbs for those incapable of understanding or accepting “The Other”. The Ankh Morpork Police Department, originally staffed by unregenerate, mostly corrupt white men, eventually was staffed by Werwolves, Vampires (on the wagon), Dwarves, Trolls, Golem, and women in all of the above categories (except Golem- a distinct lack of female Golem in literature).

Bless his heart kind heart, and may he rest in peace. He was one of the funniest writers I have ever read, and one of the most observant of human nature.

Sigh.

Drifty has been on fire lately. From another post:

Because the Clown Car Luke Russert’s dad built and David Gregory tricked out and Chuck Todd treats like a Tiffany glass reliquary for the Beltways most fragile and hilariously overpaid derelicts has long since stopped remotely resembling public interest programming designed to bring people and issues of vital public interest before a table of informed and engaging experts for discussion.

Now, week after week, in play its a forced march through the world’s shittiest carnival fun house. With stale, patched-together pop-up monsters and sound effects designed sometime round 1983 to scare 4-year-olds. A dilapidated mess of groaning gears and ancient mannequins all but abandoned and slowly collapsing into rust ruin because people like Chuck Todd do not have the intellect(ual) firepower or the professional integrity to do anything else with the enormous gifts they has been given.

Amazing wordcraft.
