Only not so much.

CBS 2 News contacted the Senator’s office and are awaiting a formal response. CBS 2 News did get a response from Colonel Greg Hapgood, Director of Public Affairs with the Iowa National Guard. Col. Hapgood says the claim made in the article is simply not true. “As Joni Ernst is a traditional National Guard member (on military duty one weekend a month and for 15 days of Annual Training), both the Iowa Code of Military Justice and federal Uniform Code of Military Justice only apply to her when she serves in a duty status with the Iowa National Guard or the U.S. Army.” Col. Hapgood says when Sen. Ernst is serving in her role as a U.S. Senator, she is subject to the same state and federal laws as any other civillian serving in that position.

I wish, but an Arkansas state senator is putting a bill up that would allow Cotton to run for both president and senator in 2020.

It would only be a problem for him if 1) Republicans could feel humiliation, 2) governing was more important than power, and 3) the military companies that gave him a million dollars afterwards didn’t think of war as a profit making enterprise.

That’s kind of dumb. Let’s say he wins both. (I know, I know. Shudder worthy but stay with me here) That means there’d have to be an automatic special election for the senate seat. Isn’t Rand Paul trying to do this crap too?

Say, remember when we were talking about states racing for the stupidest? Texas is making a sprint!

Texas Representative Proposes Bill to Make Filming the Police Illegal for Everyone But MSM

The bill attempts to usurp citizens of the ability to hold law enforcement accountable for their actions by negating people’s ability to create an accurate and impartial record of police interactions.

If passed, the bill would amend the current “INTERFERENCE WITH PUBLIC DUTIES” statute (Sec. 38.15), to include language only allow filming of police (within 25ft) by “news media.”

The term “news media” is then defined as such:

(A) a radio or television station that holds a license issued by the Federal Communications Commission;

(B) a newspaper that is qualified under Section 2051.044, Government Code, to publish legal notices or is a free newspaper of general circulation and that is published at least once a week and available and of interest to the general public in connection with the dissemination of news or public affairs; or

(C) a magazine that appears at a regular interval, that contains stories, articles, and essays by various writers, and that is available and of interest to the general public in connection with the dissemination of news or public affairs.

Noncontradiction states that contradictory statements cannot exist at the same time. Schroedinger’s paradox is a metaphorical representation of contradictory states existing simultaneously.

The point is formal logic is a language construct that in some cases doesn’t apply, such as in portions of the quantum world & pre-big bang.

I don’t think anyone said that atheists are supposed to be rational. Atheism is not defined as being rational.

Atheists self identified as sceptics also pride themselves on using rational reasoning to doubt the existence of god. Those same atheists consider the belief in a god irrational. That’s where the idea of atheists being rational comes from.

Schrödinger’s paradox pertains to physical states, while formal logic pertains to logical statements. When we say that there is a superposition of physical states of the dead and the alive cat, we are not saying that the cat is actually simultaneously dead and alive in one actual physical state. There’s either an “undecided” state (which doesn’t challenge the logic, but does challenge the classical view of physical reality), which collapses to an actual state upon measurement, or a host of “multiple universes”, which are separate from each other and thus again don’t logically contradict each other. Were QM actually to contain logical contradictions, it would have to be rejected as unscientific. It is, after all, one of the ways to evaluate a scientific theory.

Since atheists can believe in astrology, psi, Tarot, conspiracy theories, souls, afterlife, AGW denial and so on, there is no requirement for an atheist to be rational.

Also, an atheist who doesn’t use rational reasoning to reject God is still an atheist.

Proof of the non-existence of God (Hitchhiker’s):

The Final Proof of the non-Existence of God was proved by a Babel Fish.

Now, it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some have chosen to see it as the final proof of the NON-existence of God. The argument goes something like this:

“I refuse to prove that I exist,” says God, “for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.”

“But,” says Man, “the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn’t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves that You exist, and so therefore, by Your own arguments, You don’t. QED”

“Oh dear,” says God, “I hadn’t thought of that,” and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

“Oh, that was easy,” says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.

Another example about how strongly anti-intuitive is not the same as leading to a logical contradiction. Let’s take the statement “Object A can be in place X and place Y at the same time, where X and Y do not spatially intersect”.

Would this statement contradict formal logic if it were true? Not at all, it would only contradict our classical physical intuitions about what it means for an object to “be” somewhere. Such intuitions may not apply in the microworld, for example.

I didn’t realize we were suffering this crisis, of not having enough ways to kill people:

Vote for firing squad shows frustration with drug shortages

A vote by Utah lawmakers to bring back executions by firing squad is the most dramatic illustration yet of the nationwide frustration over bungled executions and shortages of lethal-injection drugs.

Utah and several other states are scrambling to modify their laws on the heels of a botched Oklahoma lethal injection last year and one in Arizona in which the condemned man took nearly two hours to die. Meanwhile, Texas executed a Mexican mafia hit man Wednesday evening with its second-to-last dosage of drugs.

[…]

States have struggled to keep up their drug inventories as European manufacturers opposed to capital punishment refuse to sell the components of lethal injections to U.S. prisons. The Texas deadline is the most imminent, but other states are struggling, too.

The Utah bill’s sponsor, Republican Rep. Paul Ray, argues that a team of trained marksmen is faster and more humane than the drawn-out deaths involved when lethal injections go awry.

Though Utah’s next execution is probably a few years away, Ray said Wednesday that he wants to settle on a backup method now so authorities are not racing to find a solution if the drug shortage drags on.

[…]

Because we all want to avoid the tragedy of someone not dying on the day they were supposed to.

Walter Williams dusts off bits and pieces of old (and debunked) arguments, because he knows his marks keep on buying:

Climate change argument a ruse for socialist agenda

[…]

Today CO2 concentrations worldwide average about 380 parts per million. This level of CO2 concentration is trivial compared with the concentrations during earlier geologic periods.

[…]

Climate change predictions have been wrong for decades. Let’s look at some. At the first Earth Day celebration, in 1969, environmentalist Nigel Calder warned, “The threat of a new ice age must now stand alongside nuclear war as a likely source of wholesale death and misery for mankind.” C.C. Wallen of the World Meteorological Organization said, “The cooling since 1940 has been large enough and consistent enough that it will not soon be reversed.”

[…]

The CO2 concentration hasn’t been at 380ppm since about 8 years ago.

What Williams is doing is just recycling old articles, with even older claims.

This sort of chanting - reiteration without analysis - is a classic way of programming humans. We see it in all aspects of our lives, but especially religion.

Williams knows that all he has to do is repeat the same thing over and over and over…

Repetition will convince people to accept something, even if it is not true.

This was apparently shot as part of some competition event in the 1980’s. I have no idea how they got away with it, since the shell itself was a Destructive Device under the NFA. The ATF may have turned a blind eye back then but nowadays it’s solid shot or go to jail.

You get a tax stamp per round with all the paperwork that implies. Then if your state law allows, you go to a big enough range and fire it. DD are just another weapon in the end.

You just show your membership card in your local well-regulated militia and make sure you are wearing historical headgear when you fire it…

This is more theoretical than practical though I think. Even if the ATF approves your Form 4 you’d still need a separate explosives license just to handle the components, which generally means forming a corporation, charter, insurance, lawyers, etc. Then you have to obey all the distancing, storage magazine and transportation regs, have to engrave all your info on the device, name, address and serial number. Then Lord help you if you have a dud and need to try and get your local EOD to come out and deal with your homemade bomb.

The level of crazy involved in just being willing to do all that should be an instant disqualifer.

I despise this new “furniture” which requires hours of assembly by you, the consumer. And it costs about the same as any fully assembled piece, which is why I haunt thrift stores. I’d rather put up with a few nicks (easily camo’d w/a kid’s magic marker) than having to put something together by myself or waiting for my my g-son doing it. Right now, the big flat screen he bought resides on a long rectangular coffee table his dad gave him and it has a bottom shelf holding the Xbox and cable box, and even has a drawer for small stuff. Serves the purpose very well. : P

Yes, same here. Loved how it was well done with the historical aspects. I just wish they had more British TV, I’ve re-seen “Morse”, watched what they have of “Lewis”, its successor, went through the entirety of “Midsomer Murders” and “Martin” for fun, and a number of others. But they do the historical ones very, very well and have good production values.

Right, like a lot of “reality” shows, half of its real and the other half’s scripted. I don’t think one can get throw an entire series (read: season) with realizing at some point that so many of the “sudden” occurrences are too convenient to be anything other than planned in advance.

What I meant by inappropriate time and place was that most sensible people will bite their tongue before insulting, say, the Asian manufacturers of a car, with an ethnic slur on air, or within earshot of the media. Clarkson has no such governor on his tongue. He just spouts off like he’s talking to his mates back in his hometown pub. I rather think what is so popular about the show is that, due to the BBC being run by the government on license fees, the presenters don’t feel pressured by the fear of advertiser boycotts, allowing them to be brutally honest. And part of being brutally honest is speaking your mind and dealing with the consequences.

119 wheat-dogghazi-mailgate  Mar 13, 2015 4:35:04am

I found one of Clarkson’s books in a used book store for a $1. Since it was about cars, I picked it up, but by the time I got 40% of the way through, I tossed it aside. The man is a font of constant complaining … about everything. It got really old. Sometimes he’s quite witty. Most of the time, he’s quite predictable.

Maybe if I were a Brit, I’d have a different attitude. Who knows?

It took me a good bit of time to find a story that put the lie to that “Whites in South Africa to be replaced by [the n-word]!!!11” story, but I found one. Interestingly, it is a story of Chinese origin that explains the truth:

South Africa power utility denies race-based layoff

South Africa’s power utility Eskom on Monday denied reports that it would lay off thousands of white engineers to meet a new government policy.

Eskom will not dismiss anybody based on race, the company’s spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe said.
He made the remarks after a local newspaper reported on Sunday that Eskom has to reduce the number of white engineers by 1,081 and white artisans by 2,179 in order to comply with an alleged new government policy to make way for black people.
According to the report, the Department of Labor is insisting that Eskom make changes to ensure its employee demographics reflect South Africa’s “national and regional demography.”
“Eskom has new power stations coming on-line in the next several years and therefore the company needs all the help it can get,” Phasiwe said.

As ever, stupid racist panic is stupid. Note that I found that story without clicking on any story with the racist headline UpChuck retweeted.

As a kid, I watched my dad work on our cars. He was quite good at mechanics and electrical stuff, especially air cooled VWs. So, I learned to do car repairs myself and by the way learned that some cars are easy to fix and maintain and others require professional work. I had great fun years ago pulling the head on my Slant 6 Dodge Dart so I could have a shop do a valve job. Even more satisfying was putting it all back together and having the engine run on the first try.

The next job was to either get a reman engine block or re-ring the pistons. But one day my then-wife took the car on a trip to another town without bothering to top off the oil. It was using oil pretty bad, and I warned her to keep an eye on the pressure gauge I’d installed. She got halfway to her destination before the engine seized up. When I finally got a look at the crankshaft, it looked like Superman had used it as a twist-tie. That’s when the Dart went to the junkers after 14 years of service.

Exactly. And if there were a Republican in the WH doing the same thing, the GOP Congress would be as quiet as church mice about it.

Considering the present political environment, I doubt we’d be arguing over the specifics of multi-party talks with Iran. Instead, we’d be gearing up for 2016 on the question of whether we should just settle for a limited military strike or go for a full invasion and occupation. The opposition to these talks is being mostly driven by a base which has spent years being told that Iran can’t be bargained with, can’t be reasoned with, and won’t stop until it has a nuke that it can plant in Tel Aviv or Washington D.C.

In my mid-20s, I lived in an apartment house on the second floor. The first floor had a family whose periodic conversations about buying groceries, etc., were always conducted loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear, with one partner inside and the other out in the street by the car.

WALDORF, Md. - A Waldorf minor league baseball team is abandoning a plan to give away 1,000 live hermit crabs on Opening Day.

After announcing the plan, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs received thousands of emails, calls and posts on social media— both for and against the promotion.

In response, the team says it will change its name to the “Southern Maryland Hermit Crabs” for Opening Day, which is April 24.

Players will wear special jerseys that day, which will be auctioned off to benefit the Hermit Crab Association. Members from that organization will be invited to throw out the first pitch.

Hermit crab activists will also be given the chance to speak to fans attending the game.

The Presidential Libraries seem to tend towards hagiography instead of history. However, the NPS presidential sites are a lot more even-handed as far as I’ve seen thus far. I went to the LBJ Western White House out in Texas, and thought it was fair; it didn’t sugar coat any of his actions, good or bad. Plus, they had the ranch and the presidential jet outside too (the ranch had its own airport and control tower/facility to handle the flights from back East).

Similarly, the Grant home in STL was interesting because it addressed the fact that Grant fought for the Union but had married into a slaveholding family and the way that affected his views (and how it affected his wife’s views). And how his presidency was largely viewed as middling to a failure. Pretty interesting.

Yes officially. If you search you can find their statement about suspending the chapter and members, and also moving to revoke the fraternity membership of the two students expelled by the university.

Probably won’t come out who they learned the song from and how much the local alumni organization knew, allowed, or colluded with.

Kurt makes an interesting point - the n-word is bad enough when SAE used it, but the chant also makes explicit reference to lynching (hangin him from a tree). Given that these kinds of chants are passed down from year to year by the fraternities, there’s no way that this just magically appeared in the SAE lexicon. You can’t tell me that no one there failed to notice the words or that it might be inappropriate.

The OU Code of Conduct doesn’t directly address racism, but it does indicate that abusive conduct is a violation. A lawyer might try to argue that the free speech of the group trumps what can be construed as an overbroad reading of “abusive conduct”, but I don’t think it’ll stick. Students have a right to form/join/participate in a group without regard to race. That’s clearly being violated by SAE chanting clearly racist chants. Such a group is in violation of Section III, 1, and as such the group would not have a right to exist on campus.

The expulsions might be overturned, but the group’s right to continue on campus wouldn’t.

Meanwhile, Texas legislators are pursing a bill that would make filming police illegal (within 100 feet of a police activity). That’s exactly the wrong tact to take. We need more oversight and examination of police, not less.

House Bill 2918, introduced by Texas Rep. Jason Villalba (R-Dallas) on Tuesday, would make the offense a misdemeanor. Citizens who are armed would not be permitted to record police activity within 100 feet of an officer, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Only representatives of radio or TV organizations that hold an FCC license, newspapers and magazines would have the right to record police.

The legislator disagreed with people on Twitter who said he’s seeking to make all filming of cops illegal.

“My bill … just asks filmers to stand back a little so as not to interfere with law enforcement,” Villalba tweeted.

Filming police should be legal at any distance so long as you’re not interfering in the police activity being filmed. It’s been documented time and again that police will try to deny people the ability to film the police in action even when they’re legally allowed to do so, so this would give the police another reason to keep their actions from public scrutiny.

I can stand 25 feet away without being in the way of an activity. Heck, I could be 10 feet away and not in the way (say an arrest of a person akin to the Eric Garner case - which was clearly taken from less than 100 feet away). Or I could be 100 feet away but be in the way depending on the kind of police action involved (say a very large and complicated crime scene).

Because every president in history has asked Congress for permission before negotiating with other countries.

It’s amazing the amount of talking heads who are painfully (and in Fox News’s case, unapologetically) ignorant about how American government works. HUGE part of the problem in this country.

I’m literally just coming on LGF for the morning.

Please, please, tell me this is not happening. I realize we’re dealing with racist frat boys, but no one can be that dumb.

It’s happening, but I don’t know what they expect. The decision to suspended the chapter’s charter lies with the fraternity, not the college. And if they’re expecting an apology, they’re not going to get one. The more noise they make, the more likely that the university is going to fight that much harder to keep the expulsions permanent.

224 Nyet  Mar 13, 2015 7:08:51am

re: #216 Nyet

So I went to see what this Sigma Chi is. The latest news on their page is about expelling the Westminster college chapter. So I went to the news:
abc17news.com

FULTON, Mo. -
A fraternity in mid-Missouri is being shut down after an investigation reveals hazing and more.
The Sigma Chi International Headquarters and Westminster College has suspended all operations indefinitely at Westminster College in the Delta Tau chapter.
In a statement Wednesday night, Westminster college President Barney Forsythe said, “Earlier today, Westminster College received new evidence of offensive comments posted between Sigma Chi members on a private social media page. In light of this new information, Westminster and SCIH resolved to extend the chapter’s suspension indefinitely.”

[…]
But Westminster College senior Timothy Aldred said there’s more to the allegations and said he saw a disturbing Facebook conversation between Sigma Chi fraternity members.

“There was a report released by a sophomore member of Sigma Chi with an audio recording of a pledge that night, screen shots from a Facebook page, just horrifically racist,” Aldred said. “I’ve seen some of them, horrifically racist, violent, just disgusting screenshot, disgusting comments being made.

Aldred showed ABC 17 News the screenshots, which included, among other things, racist comments following the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson.

So if you think this is just about SAE…

A bit surreal looking one here. It’s an F4F that they fished out of Lake Michigan. The display area is very dark and sort of lit to imply the displayed aircraft are still underwater. So I ended up with a very long exposure and this result.

There was this F4F and an SBD that are unrestored. And a F6F nearby that was also fished out and has been fully restored.

Those aircraft most likely splashed on training missions launched from one of the Navy’s two paddle wheel aircraft carriers, the USS Wolverine (IX-61) or the USS Sable (IX81). The Navy’s pressing need to train carrier pilots and flight crews combined with the need to keep its carriers deployed led it to requisition two aging Great Lakes ferries and cut down their superstructures to accommodate flight decks. They retained their steam engines and side paddle wheel propulsion.
Here’s a picture of the USS Wolverine underway on Lake Michigan:

Computers operating on the New York Police Department’s computer network at its 1 Police Plaza headquarters have been used to alter Wikipedia pages containing details of alleged police brutality, a review by Capital has revealed.

snip

Computer users identified by Capital as working on the NYPD headquarters’ network have edited and attempted to delete Wikipedia entries for several well-known victims of police altercations, including entries for Eric Garner, Sean Bell, and Amadou Diallo. Capital identified 85 NYPD addresses that have edited Wikipedia, although it is unclear how many users were involved, as computers on the NYPD network can operate on the department’s range of IP addresses.
NYPD IP addresses have also been used to edit entries on stop-and-frisk, NYPD scandals, and prominent figures in the city’s political and police leadership.

Cop gets killed, Obama is out there loudly to condemn that action. Unarmed person gets killed, the guys on PoliceOne are there to find any rationale to justify that person’s death. Yeah blue lives do matter but so do black lives and so do the lives of all those who have been killed unarmed by the police over the years. And as sad as it is for a police officer to be killed in the line of duty, it does bother me more when an unarmed person is killed by a cop for this very simple reason. A cop knows what he’s signed up for. Those of us walking the streets shouldn’t have to fear losing our lives to the cops and despite what some police members believe just because we don’t do everything they tell us to do isn’t grounds for killing people. I read something like 50% of those killed by police were unarmed. That’s scary and an overwhelming number of them were racial minorities.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Even in a country wracked by violence for decades, the killing of a senior Afghan Sufi religious leader and 10 other men stands out from the statistics: shot in the backs of their heads while bowed in prayer, in a ruthless and apparently well-planned operation.

The attack Saturday night has mystified authorities and a government investigation has come up empty handed, with no suspects so far, Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday ordered a report on the probe, according to his spokesman, Ajmal Abidy. […]

There’s obviously some damn good cops out there. It must be frustrating for the good ones to see the comments on PoliceOne.

What are you going up against in those?

Don’t have the Wildcat just yet. Best I’ve got at the moment in the American line is the P36 Hawk.

So anything from reserve aircraft up to Hurricanes and Spits, Yak 1s and LaGG-3s, 109Es and lowest tier Fw190s, plus whatever the Japanese equivalent of those planes are. So, generally outclassed. ;)

Still, most US planes at that tier have at least one .50cal so they can hit pretty damned hard.

Flew my Spit yesterday. Very nice maneuverability but the guns are lacking. Eight spitball guns is eight spitball guns. Looking forward to the cannon armed Brits.

That looks like a Skyraider hung above the F-14 (sorry Ghostrider, but the pattern is full).

Pretty sure it is. One of my favourite planes from that era. A beast of an aircraft. One of them even got a MiG kill during the Vietnam War.

I saw one at an airshow about a decade ago. It had been converted by the Finns into an air ambulance. The interior was roomy enough that there was easily room for a stretcher and medics.

On May 5, 1970, the day after National Guardsmen had shot and killed four students at Kent State University, Keith Green was arrested at the University of Oklahoma for carrying a Viet Cong flag in violation of a state law prohibiting the display of a “red flag or emblem of anarchy or rebellion”. After 12 lawyers had refused to defend the student, Jones took the case and was promptly dismissed from the Enid, Oklahoma law firm where he was employed. Jones argued in court that the disloyalty statute was unconstitutional and the judge dismissed the case, overturning the statute. Later Jones would go on to represent Abbie Hoffman, the radical Yippie, when Oklahoma State University refused to let him speak on campus.

So where are the “Christian bakers” out there denying cakes to people who re-marry? After all, divorce if you were to truly interpret the Bible literally is immoral. Oh wait, you mean so called Christian businesses pick and choose and just want an excuse to be dicks to LGBT patrons. Nah can’t be. This doesn’t surprise me though LH. How is something that came out of your mouth a mistake? Was it because you knew you shouldn’t have but you did? Or, was it because someone heard it and the mistake was they shouldn’t have?

Try some other words other than mistake.

I guess in the long run though…words will not really not matter as everyone knows it was what you intended all along.

So, instead of an apology how about just admitting you have race issues and you need to work on your character. Now, that might be a bit believable.

One possible explanation is that conservatives marry young because living in sin is not an option. When they break up it is a divorce statistic, whereas in liberal areas, young people are more likely to live in sin, so no official statistics exist for the break ups.

As far as Netanyahu’s political interests are concerned, however, the speech was a major success. Israelis were highly impressed, a sentiment I even heard coming from Bibi’s critics.

I guess Barack Obama is a true shapeshifter.

He can be Black when you hate Black people.

He can be White when you need to say you don’t hate him because he is Black.

Pretty slick trick.

So, doesn’t that put him about on par, genetically speaking with most American Blacks? I suppose that means they missed the opportunity to use the “White” drinking fountain. Or does it only matter when the mother is white and not the assorted fathers and grandfathers, and other owners involved?

Conservative logic is that the Dixiecrats were liberals simply because they were Democrats and that the Republican supporters of civil rights were conservatives simply because they were Republicans. The reality is and I know you this too is that it was geographical and ideological. Liberal Republicans like Rockefeller supported Civil Rights and guess what they were hated by the party’s right because of it. I’d love to if I were on Twitter ask one of these numbskulls that if the GOP was so supportive of Civil Rights and thought it that big of an issue why did they first nominate one of the opponents of the CRA-64 and furthermore why have they run away from Civil Rights since then. And how about Ronnie opening his presidential campaign where three civil rights workers were kidnapped and later murdered with a speech about states rights. Yeah but that’s just a concidink I’m sure.//

Yeah even when the South was a Democratic stronghold, it was never a hotbed of liberalism and in fact, there was a thing called the Conservative coalition where the Conservative southern Dems worked with the GOP to block progressive legislation. The South was also home to some of the biggest union busting efforts in the country too. It wasn’t just Jim Crow that made them right wingers. And you’re right. It’s always conservatives/southerners/red staters that defend the CSA rag.

The thing is that Likud may well end up losing to Zionist Union in seats, but Likud will still get to form the government because more total seats of parties that are willing to form a coalition with them than with Zionist Union.

IOW, even if he loses, Netanyahu might still win.

Sauce for the goose.

What the Israeli left needs is to force an outright loss - total seats for Zionist Union v. Likud, plus more seats than any coalition Likud could form.

The problem is that the parties remaining aren’t likely to form a government with the others included in the coalition unless there are massive concessions or some serious cognitive dissonance.

Likud and Zionist Union will be given opportunities to form a new coalition. If neither can make a go of it, we’d probably see another round of elections. I can’t recall the last time something like that happened. Usually, there’s enough seats to form a coalition for at least a short period of time (and when that collapses, a new election would be called).

Which frankly is common sense. A single parent household is far more likely to be less well off than a two parent household and frankly if Erick and his allies really valued two parent households, they wouldn’t be against allowing same sex couples to adopt but what do ya know, they oppose that too. Erick just cares about poor shaming and making himself feel better about himself by putting others down. He’s nothing but a bullying chode.

Conservatives want to both refuse to raise the minimum wage and want welfare to be harder to get even though a huge percentage of those on welfare are kids. They talk a lot about raising yourself up by the bootstraps. Well conservatives are the people who want to cut the bootstraps in half and without giving you any instruction on how to reattach them expect you to learn yourself. Meanwhile, they want policies that give extra bootstraps to those who have already made it. Their ideology is a form of oligarchy and would have been considered backwards a century ago.

It’s not the lack of clarity I take issue with. It’s the fact that the police put information into the public domain that is incorrect and making its way around the world…and that information is not lacking in clarity, it’s factually dubious (at best, incorrect as in lying at worse).

My complaint doesn’t originate with this picture or the space from where the shots were fired from or to. It’s the continual…misdirections, shall we say…from police that anger me.

Last month, another bride in Uttar Pradesh married a wedding guest after the original groom had a seizure and collapsed at the wedding venue.

The groom’s family had not revealed that the groom was epileptic. While the groom was rushed to a hospital in Rampur town, the bride asked one of the wedding guests to step in and married him.

I take it there’s some stigma or taboo about epilepsy in India?

In general I agree with you completely. The 24 hour rule is a good one.

That said, in 24 hours, the whole world was told that a cop was shot in the face. And the old adage about a lie traveling the world while the truth is barely out of the gate holds true. How many wingnuts are still saying a cop was shot in the face?

This is my biggest issue with what is happening in Ferguson and throughout LE around the country. They have the microphone and they drive the dialog.
