Capitol Police Detain and Question Chuck C. Johnson About Stalking Behavior

They asked him about his infamous photo in front of Sen. Cochran’s private home

Our stalker pal Chuck C. Johnson has told his story about being detained and questioned by Capitol Police at a fundraiser for John Boehner in Bakersfield last weekend, to Daily Caller hack Betsy Rothstein: Capitol Police Detain Charles Johnson For Attending Boehner Fundraiser.

This is the most interesting bit:

Police asked if he’d ever approached a member of Congress. “I said no, thinking that they meant like, walked up to and talked to them on the street,” he said. “I have gone to members of Congress’s homes before, both invited and uninvited.”

Johnson explained, “The ‘uninvited’ question brought us to the Sen. Cochran affair. I said there was some real questions as to whether or not he lived in that house in D.C. and that I had gone there.”

They then asked him about Mississippi. “I said that I had investigated a voter fraud incident in Mississippi involving Senator Thad Cochran and the Barbours buying black votes to defeat Tea party challenger Chris McDaniel,” he said. “I said that I had been present in Mississippi and had witnessed some of the corruption and been chased out of the state by two goons.”

Johnson said police told him that going to a senator’s home is illegal. “I said that it was not and that I had filmed the entire episode on camera with a friend and that we spent a total of ten minutes at the home,” he said. “They said it was in a legal gray zone. I said that it was not, especially as I was reporting on the incident. They said it was illegal if I was harassing them. I said, well, there’s no evidence that I harassed anyone and he [the officer] said that it was inappropriate to visit the home.”

Alluding to Cochran’s marital situation, Johnson told police that “it was inappropriate to live with a mistress and staffer and that I had no intentions of going to members of Congress’s homes. We agreed to disagree.”

Here’s the photo Johnson posted on Twitter of himself standing outside Thad Cochran’s home in disheveled clothes with his shirt untucked:

It’s pretty clear that this little stunt — standing in front of a US Senator’s private residence — got Chuck onto the radar of the Capitol Hill police force. They take this kind of stalking behavior very seriously, and now they’re obviously keeping a file on this psycho, judging from the questions he was asked. And there’s plenty to set off their alarms — Chuck’s pictures of himself posing with guns, for starters.

Chuck has now crossed over into John Hinckley territory, and if he shows up on Capitol Hill at some point, he’ll undoubtedly be stopped and questioned again. Nice work, Babycakes.

He wasn’t even invited to any fundraiser. Or else he would have posted a photo of that too, just like he did the Capitol Police business card.

He says that “someone” bought him a ticket to the Fresno event. What he doesn’t say is if that ticket was purchased in his name.

Either way it looks like the second they saw him Valadao’s people were all over him like flies on shit.

That was my first thought as well, when I saw the photo of the biz card.

Someone floated a theory over the weekend that someone punked CCJ.

“Sure, Chuck, we paid for your ticket. Just show up at the front door and go on in! We got you covered!!!”

I’m beginning to warm to that theory.

Looks like the Establishment Republicans have decided to do CCJ slow & painful. There’s been a lot of closing ranks in the Old Guard in the past few years; and Thad Cochran is not known to be a gentle & forgiving man. I’m thinking that there’s a long-term strategy to disincentivize extremist voices in the GOP.

If so then CCJ will get stopped for questioning more and more. Then he’ll find himself uninvited to events. People posted at doors with his photo on 8x11s to keep him out. His response will be to get more & more hysterical. Which will lead, as any reasonable person would conclude, to escalating levels of exclusion & surveillance. Funding starts to dry up. His audience starts to shrink.

DURST REPORTEDLY HAD REVOLVER ON HIM DURING ARREST

HOUSTON (KGO) — A police report says wealthy eccentric Robert Durst was in possession of a revolver when he was arrested at a New Orleans hotel on a murder charge in the death of his friend in Los Angeles.

“On Monday, he waived extradition and will face a murder charge in Los Angeles. The big break in the 15 year old case may have come from his own mouth, with cameras rolling. And now, the filmmaker is speaking out.” More

OK, seriously, how was UpChuck not arrested, since he has an outstanding contempt of court charge in Miss.?

The subpoena Chuck ignored was issued by a Mississippi grand jury, and he is in California. Nobody gets extradited on a material witness warrant even if they are in contempt. Unless he actually gets charged with a serious crime it’s pretty unreasonable to expect federal congress cops to arrest him for that.

Probably because it looks disingenuous and bot-like.

timesofisrael.com

haaretz.com

Of all of those, Livni’s move seems to be having quite an impact - there are many folks in Israel, including traditional right-wing voters, who have expressed support for Herzog (primarily as an ‘Anti-Bibi’) but are wary of Livni; All I’ve been hearing and seeing in the past few hours indicates that her move to pass on the rotation - which would have assured her two years as PM - has bought the party a lot of previously-uncertain voters.
Thing is, she probably didn’t need to do it - her party has been leading in the polls steadily for weeks now and the past week has been all but disastrous for Netanyahu, especially near the weekend (when he had a series of blunders during interviews, was called out on past lies and when Likud Knesset members visiting traditional right-wing hubs were booed and shouted away), indicating that the end result tomorrow may be worse for the Likud than expected. This was the case BEFORE Livni passed on the rotation - which as it seems now will only make it better for Herzog.

re: #56 Higgs Boson’s Mate

That’s a likely secondary effect. Her abdication from the rotation agreement attracts both voters and makes other parties more likely to partner with ZU.

58 BeachDem  Mar 16, 2015 4:49:12pm

OK—late to the party, but wanted to throw in my thoughts about upchuck and the fundraiser. His whole story is a crock o’shit.

How do you figure out where to go when you’re invited to a party? You look at the fucking invitation! If (and that’s a BIG if) somebody indeed bought him a ticket for the Fresno event (lowest ticket price was $1,000) on a different date, there’s no way he got “confused” and drove two hours to Bakersfield a day later for a different event. Where would he even have gotten the address of the other event?
It’s all bogus shit.

And his telling of the conversation is so laughable.

“They were pretty pleasant,” he told The Mirror. “They threatened to jail me if I lied to them.”

So which was it, upchuck?

Police ultimately instructed Johnson not to write about what happened Saturday night.

In a more private email sent to a select group, Johnson offered a play-by-play of what happened to him.

So, he could write about it to a select group, but only do interviews with others about the rest of it? Say what?

He is a buffoon, but his bullshit is obviously on law enforcement radar because he is a threat to people.

Personally I think he got an email saying “Come join us for a fundraiser at x, tickets are 1000 for A, 1500 for B, 2000 for C.” and Chuck just thought he could show up without paying because freedom, or some other weird interpretation he has of the first amendment, such as declaring yourself a journalist allows you to do whatever the fuck you want.

re: #56 Higgs Boson’s Mate

Will Livni’s announcement make it impossible for Netanyahu to retain his office by forming a coalition government?

Not exactly (warning: long explanation ahead)..
Basically, the task of forming a governmental coalition traditionally depends on which party gets the most votes. The total votes are allocated as “mandates” (120, according to the 120 total Knesset seats) once the final election count is concluded, and the head of the party with the largest number of mandates is officially tasked by the president to assemble a coalition within 30 days, during which there are considerable political negotiations between the political victor and the rest of the parties. It used to be simpler years ago, but that was when there were relatively fewer political parties and as such required less of an effort.
If no coalition is assembled at the end of the 30 days, the president can extend the time frame further if necessary, or can task someone else with assembling it instead. This happened in 2009, when Livni, then as the head of Kadima, won more votes and had a single mandate more than Netanyahu and the Likud, but at the end of the day was unable to assemble a coalition; The task was then handed to Netanyahu, and the rest is history.

To answer your question: if Livni’s announcement brings in even more voters to her party, then yes, it would make a difference - the higher the number of votes for a party, the greater the mandates it has in the end - and if these come directly at the expense of the Likud (which is a possibility) then it means that A) Herzog will be more likely to take the win, ensuring hims the task of assembling the next coalition and B) the negotiations for forming said coalition may be easier, and the Likud and its political allies would have a harder time making the case for their side.

With just 21,000 residents, Ferguson issued a staggering 32,975 arrest warrants for at least 16,000 different people. Not just parking tickets, Ferguson averaged 567 non-traffic related court cases per 1,000 residents—far and away the highest of any town in the state and more than twice as much as the town with the second highest average. To put that into perspective, the city of St. Louis had 80 non-traffic court cases per 1,000 residents and that’s actually above the state average for Missouri.

He straight up smeared me and said I was opposed to the Brown vs. BOE decision, something I never wrote and and never thought. I’m not really expecting a retraction, but I’ll settle for not being smeared any more.

There are some Civil Rights and Social Justice activists that are just determined to find racism everywhere they look. The right wing thinks it’s 100%, my observation is 1% or less, but they do exist.

You know what I love about this site? On one hand, there are discussions about some of the absolute worst dregs of humanity, which could promote cynicism and despair for the human race. One the other hand, there is a diverse group of folks who discuss art, music, science, hobbies, etc. and support and care for each other. Demonstrating some of what I consider the best side of humanity.

It’s an interesting juxtaposition.

We’ve been waiting to hit 69 planes for years. It’s our favorite number - ever since we were twelve and found that magazine under our brother’s bed (the one with the fantastic articles). #69 is perfect: just the right size, with a cockpit that’s in your face (because it’s bright yellow). Use your mouth to spread the word: Spirit is in an even better position to get you where you’re going. We’re popping an epic Bare Fare in celebration! $69.00* round trip!

Well since the information is so conveniently available to you Charles you may as well forward the info on his visit to an old home of yours. Fits that pattern they are seeing.

I am packing up for a longish trip to Slovenia tonight, mixing some academic business with pleasure, traveling around that country and some neighboring places of interest.

I haven’t mentioned this much to folks here or elsewhere because I was afraid my health would force me to cancel. Unfortunately, I have been dealing with a recurrence of an illness that knocked me for a loop back in 2013 since late January. I had been doing well for almost a whole year, then WHAM.

Since then, I put together over 3 weeks of feeling good and decided that this was a good sign to go ahead. Unfortunately, I had a BAD weekend and came close to bailing out. However, I am significantly better today and have decided to go. Travel is pretty much the passion of my life and it is heartbreaking to consider that my days of being able to engage in this hobby may well be numbered. With this in mind, I am going!

Unfortunately, Slovenia is one of the VERY few countries not covered by T-Mobile’s free international data, but I will stop by on wifi and when I am in Austria.

He can start by enlisting and serving in person in Afghanistan. Till then, he can STFU insofar as I’m concerned. Also, an extra $77 billion? Where’s he offering to pull that from, that’s what I wanna know.
Looking at the world’s largest military forces, ours is the largest and it’s better than the next 15 after it combined - it’s ridiculously wasteful and if anything, we need to be cutting or reallocating funds, not increasing funds without any proper results to show for it!

Don’t do Twitter, but some folks have asked the question. It’s been pointed out that arrangements to a $1000 plate dinner would be specific as to the time and place, so it’s difficult to believe he accidentally went to an event hours away instead of a local one. Of course, we are talking about upchuck.

I’d love to know what the hot asian wife thought about the whole episode. If she was unaware of his whole internet persona, being questioned by the police after being removed from the event would be an eye opener.

129 Shiplord Kirel  Mar 16, 2015 6:21:06pm

Al Gore should run for president (Ezra Klein)

Gore offers a genuinely different view of what the Democratic Party — and, by extension, American politics — should be about.

Climate change is a real and growing threat to the world’s future. In 2009, nearly every country in the world agreed that global warming must be held to less than 2 degrees Celsius. We’re on pace to blow through that — warming the planet four degrees or more is horrifyingly plausible. No one really knows what that kind of temperature change — a swing that approaches the difference between most of human history and the Ice Age — would mean for humankind. The World Bank says there is “no certainty that adaptation to a 4°C world is possible.”

Income inequality is a serious problem. But climate change is an existential threat.

Meanwhile, in Washington, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works is throwing snowballs on the floor of the Capitol because he believes cold weather outside his office proves global warming a hoax. This was his rebuttal, by the way, to news that 2014 was the hottest year on record. Something has gone very wrong in American politics.

Well, Al and Bush 41 (who will be 92 in ‘16) are the only two eligible people alive who have actually won a presidential election.
