Not all states will accept decency without a fight

Religious conservatives have a very different idea of what the word “decency” means. They think it means being bunged up and hateful toward/afraid of anyone outside their cults.

Religious conservatives have a very different idea of what the word “decency” means. They think it means being bunged up and hateful toward/afraid of anyone outside their cults.

They also do not distinguish between the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony and the civil state of marriage.

Granted, there was a time when they were identical, but that is no longer the case in any modern, secular society.

Which is what they are fighting against tooth and nail.

LEGAL CHAOS!!!

“…Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican who has pledged to fight for the sanctity of marriage between a man and woman, said in a press release, “the rogue actions of Travis County judges do not withstand the scrutiny of law.” His office filed the petition with the Texas Supreme Court to have the license declared void.

“Relief from this Court is necessary to avoid the legal chaos that would follow if the trial court’s ruling is mistakenly interpreted as authorization for the creation or recognition of same-sex marriages in Travis County or throughout the State,” the petition said.”

LEGAL CHAOS!!!

Simply using the Bible as our Constitution and the Ten Commandments as our code of law would immediately end all LEGAL CHAOS.

8 jaunte  Mar 17, 2015 11:20:17am
“Despite Texas’ constitutional ban on marriages between same-sex couples, Wahlberg ordered the license be issued to Goodfriend and Bryant under special circumstances because Goodfriend was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year.

Although Wahlberg’s court order was specific to the Austin couple, Paxton asked the court on Friday to to overturn the order to “avoid the legal chaos” that could arise if county clerks “mistakenly rely” on the order and begin granting marriage licenses to other same-sex couples.

“If that occurred, the harm to the couples, state officials, and the general public would be difficult if not impossible to undo,” Paxton wrote in a petition filed with the Supreme Court.”

There was some kind of preach-in at the courthouse steps a few days ago. Now one of my neighbors has a large “I Stand With Biblical Marriage” sign on his lawn.

Texas Tribune:

Alexandra Albright, a law professor at the University of Texas at Austin, said she was unsure whether the attorney general has the standing to invalidate a marriage license.

“As far as bringing a lawsuit to invalidate, it sounds like a stretch,” Albright said. Because the U.S. Supreme Court is considering the issue, she added it’s unlikely the Texas high court will quickly rule on Paxton’s petition.”

When I was judge of elections I loved it when people would bring their kids along. Show them the process, get them as involved as they could. We had whole families that would come in, grandma/pa all the way down to infants, vote and then head home for dinner. Wish more people would take that kind of attitude towards voting.

I finally read (listened to) Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes.

Written in 1959 it could have been written today. The science wasn’t too far off and could easily be updated.

I highly recommend it.

It’s the house he sold though, for more than it’s value that probably did it. Unless there’s more.

She turned him down.

But he did write epic poetry about how OMG AWESOME!! it was to have sex with her.

1 Kings 11:3 -

And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines

I don’t think he married the Q of S. He merely impressed her with his wealth and power and gave her many gifts, and then she returned home.
