Mickey Kaus Quits Daily Caller After Tucker Carlson Pulls Critical Fox News Column

Right wing journalism at its finest
Media • Views: 36,640

The fascinating thing about this report that Mickey Kaus has quit working for The Daily Caller is Tucker Carlson’s flat out admission that he has a policy of not criticizing Fox News — and will pull any column that does: Mickey Kaus Quits Daily Caller After Tucker Carlson Pulls Critical Fox News Column.

Kaus says when he told Carlson he needed to be able to write about Fox, Carlson told him it was a hard-and-fast rule, and non-negotiable.

“He said it was a rule, and he wouldn’t be able to change that rule. So I told him I quit,” Kaus explained. “I just don’t see how you can put out a publication with that kind of giant no-go area. It’s not like we’re owned by Joe’s Muffler Shop, so we just can’t write about Joe’s Muffler shop.”

Reached via email, Carlson told On Media: “Mickey is a great guy, and one of the few truly independent thinkers anywhere. I’m sorry to see him go.”

Does anyone still have any doubt that right wing “journalism” is thoroughly and utterly corrupt?

Thou shall not criticize Fox.

Why, I am just shocked at this development. And all this time I thought Tucker and FOX were all on the up’n’up. /

Maybe Kaus will contemplate exactly what RW politics is all about.

No?

Goat-fucker Mickey Kaus is “a great guy, and one of the few truly independent thinkers anywhere”? Great standards you’ve got there, Tucker!

Mickey Kaus is still out blogging?

7 Joe Bacon  Mar 17, 2015 3:21:18pm

Ah, Mickey Kaus! Remember when he ran for US Senator in 2010 against Barbara Boxer, calling her too left wing. When the primary votes were counted, Mickey ran 3rd in a 2 way race…

California Democratic Senate primary, 2010
Candidate Votes Percentage
Barbara Boxer (incumbent) 1,957,920 81.0%
Brian Quintana 338,442 13.9%
Mickey Kaus 123,573 5.1%
Total votes 2,419,935 100%

No?

He clearly understands RW politics. He was upset that Fox was not being the opposition on immigration and amnesty….Fox….a so-called “news” network was not acting as political opposition according to Kaus. What a tool.

9 Charles Johnson  Mar 17, 2015 3:21:49pm

The idea that Mickey Kaus is “independent” is ludicrous. The only reason he wanted to criticize Fox News is because they weren’t being right wing enough for him.

10 blueraven  Mar 17, 2015 3:23:06pm
“It’s pretty simple,” Kaus said in an interview, “I wrote a piece attacking Fox for not being the opposition on immigration and amnesty — for filling up the airwaves with reports on ISIS and terrorism, and not fulfilling their responsibility of being the opposition on amnesty and immigration…. I posted it at 6:30 in the morning. When I got up, Tucker had taken it down. He said, ‘We can’t trash Fox on the site. I work there.’”

Well then.

Perhaps this is a sign of upcoming intra-party fighting about immigration. The GOP Chamber of Commerce types and the GOP base voters really do have completely opposite positions on this issue.

The “we eat our own” process seems to have picked up a bit of speed lately on the RWNJ side of things. All this next year and a half could be a pretty dramatic for the Republican party.

Sure, they may be in power, but who is in power in the party? I get the feeling it is about to bust out and it won’t be pretty or good for them. A presidential election is going to really tear into their base.

Our host needs to keep the record clear because of the unfortunate coincidence of names, but even that should probably be approached more as an obligatory and tiresome chore than as anything of real significance.

re: #29 Charles Johnson

I ran into a particularly loathesome individual named Cathy Brennan on twitter who is a trans exclusionary radical feminist. She like to dox and out stealth trans women (trans women who erased their past, had extensive cosmetic surgery etc ), and harrass their employers and care givers. Her main accomplishment in this regard is coauthoring a letter to the United Nations, insisting that trans people’s gender identity should not be legally recognized and protected.[4]

She had also been a frequent columnist for Baltimore OUTloud’s LGBTQ blog section, which she used to warn of the coming “lesbian annihilation” at the hands of “the queers” and trans people[5] and stridently argue against legislation protecting gender identity.

She justifies some of her actions, such as the outing of queer youth to their schools,[6] by pointing to the things some people have said in response to her attacks (trivialization of violence against women, e.g). However, she seems completely apathetic about similar behavior among her “intellectual” kin.[7]

To their credit, even the rest of the anti-trans feminist crowd are beginning to wise up to what an awful person she is.

Anyways, she attacked me on twitter yesterday and tried to spread an old picture of me in my Rev War gear. I think she and ginger Chucky would make a lovely pair…

Then I read what his article was about: Fox wasn’t doing enough to be the opposition of amnesty. Or as rational people would say, he was bent out of shape that Fox wasn’t doing enough fear mongering about immigration.

Then, genius that I am, it slowly dawned on me that this Mickey Kaus character was working for fucking Tucker Carlson.

If you don’t mind its somewhat garish décor in the public areas — like bright red carpeting and faux gold fixtures, the Galt is a comfy hotel, right on the river.

The jumbo fireworks show, Thunder over Louisville, is coming up. You can rent a room overlooking the river for $804 that night. I’m not sure if it’s at the Galt. If not, I’m sure the Galt House would have comparable prices. Some of my friends in Louisville are considering pitching in for a room. Otherwise, if you want to see the fireworks live, you get to spend hours in traffic with a few million other visitors and residents coming and going.

An air show usually precedes the fireworks. Not sure about this year.

I was hoping to catch up some on the Israel elections. Kornacki was all breathless about Hillary and the emails. And he was almost frantic about it all, and one of his guests (not real sure who the guy was…) was being all downbeat about it, and I thought Kornacki was going to throw him off the show for getting the host all worked up.

I guess everyone really needs to worry about Hillary though. She dropped 6 favorable points and is now at 44% unfavorable from 38%. Of course, this is three weeks into the email crap and only a year and a half away from elections.

She’ll probably go lower. And she’ll probably go higher.

I’m in a Starbucks right now, sitting next to a black customer, one of the employees is mopping the floor and I am cravenly not initiating a “conversation about race relations in America.” This isn’t Sparta, it’s Simi Valley, and this is always in the back of my mind.

/feels bad, man.

That was a theoretical nicety and a reality nightmare. Starbucks did not think that through.

Is it a certainty that Netanyahu will retain the PM position? I’m asking since every report I’ve seen states that the Joint List and Yesh Atid would be aligning with Herzog’s Zionist Union party - which would be more than sufficient to leave Likud in a minority position.

I’ve never liked Netanyahu, but after the stunt he pulled with the help of Boehner and the ugly racist remarks he made about Arabs today, I really despise him. I was watching i24 News’ live feed all afternoon. The anchor was an Arab Israeli woman named Lucy Aharish. She was absolutely furious over it and I don’t blame her one bit—my hair would’ve been on fire too.

I don’t know. It was kind of bizarre and random and it’s definitely awkward as all fuck, but I’m laughing my ass off on the inside just because it’s also brave and long overdue / necessary in some form. It’s comedy in it’s purest form, the absolute subversion of expectations, especially in modern, introverted, “everyone go out together and ignore each other while looking at their iPhones and laptops” society.

The only thing that’s expected about it in retrospect is, of course it would be Starbucks that does this, with their “we’re the Third Place ideology.”

It’s my understanding that it could be weeks before coalitions are formed and a PM chosen. It’s a crazy system and I had a really hard time trying to keep up with what was going on, It didn’t help that half the time all the guests on i24 were arguing, shouting, and waving their hands around, heh.

Just remember: Bigger cannons for your galleys and cut the rams off your bows if needed to mount said cannon.

Not kidding, BTW: Replying on cannon instead of ramming let Spanish, Genoese, and Venetian galleys devastate their ottoman counterparts at Lepanto.

There were only six galleasses so outfitted at Lepanto. The biggest difference I believe was Spanish soldiers on board, armed with gunpowder weapons.

And even then, if the coalitions are shaky and/or people want to even the score where old grudges are concerned, it could all fall apart and another election would have to be called.

Intersectionality is analogous to “super-additivity” in photographic developers. For instance, how Hydroquinone and Metol mixed together are more potent than their individual developing qualities would indicate. Basically being a black woman in our society is “super-suckative” in the sense that it carries bullshit effects that can’t be predicted from the “black” or “female” experience considered independently.

It’s fucking science y’all.

“Right Wing Journalism” is not corrupt. In order to be corrupt, you have to start from a baseline of integrity and honesty. There is no violation of integrity and honesty when your fundamental ideology is one of complete and utter devotion to dogma.

“Right Wing Journalism” is nothing other than propaganda, and they are quite open about it. Propaganda outlets operate not on truth or honesty. They exist to simply convey the message and often confirm ultra-nationalist prejudices. In this, they are tools, neither honest or dishonest. Neither are they corrupt. They are naked in their devotion to anti-science, anti-intellectual, and xenophobic dogma. They don’t pretend otherwise. They are simply a hammer. A hammer is not corrupt or dishonest. It simply exists to serve a particular job.

Eh, I think that delves into the difference between the actual definition of racism and the common usage definition that conflates racism with bigotry. I’m curious if that’s been an intentional thing over the years to make racism seem like an ‘everyone does it’, when in reality a racial minority really can’t oppress a racial majority.

It’s not an “actual definition”. It’s a late re-definition attempt by some of a conventional term.
Here is the actual definition:

Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior:
a programme to combat racism

1.1The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races:
theories of racism

oxforddictionaries.com

As you see, racism in general sense is racial prejudice, not necessarily an ability to oppress anyone. Racism is not synonymous with institutional racism.
