Scott Walker Fires Brand New Social Media Consultant After She Was Attacked by the Crazy Wing

Only loons need apply
Politics • Views: 28,456

Today’s Republican circular firing squad took place when presidential hopeful Scott Walker was forced to fire his new social media consultant Liz Mair (it was portrayed as a “resignation,” of course), who had been hired less than 24 hours before the debacle.

Mair ran afoul of the Republican Party’s far right loons when she made statements criticizing the Iowa caucuses, and supporting the “Gang of Eight’s” immigration bill. At Breitbart “News,” charming wingnut blogger Matthew Boyle labeled Mair an “open borders amnesty advocate,” because she simply isn’t insane enough for them.

This is just the first skirmish in what’s shaping up to be a wonderful internecine conflict, as the GOP’s crazy wing continues doing their level best to force any presidential contender as far to the right as possible.

You’d think that after they lose in 2016, they’d come to their senses. But no. The wing nuts will say it’s because their candidate wasn’t conservative enough. This will keep happening again and again. They’re completely bonkers.

From the linked article:

Mair had previously seen Walker through his campaign to beat back efforts to recall him in 2012, meaning he just axed a trusted deputy as he gears up for his first national campaign. In the process he managed to piss off both sides of his party.

By the way, here’s what the Gang of Eight immigration bill actually contains. This is what Breitbart “News” is calling an “open borders amnesty bill.”

Gang of Eight (Immigration)

A citizenship path for undocumented immigrants already in the United States contingent on certain border security and visa tracking improvements. The plan provides for permanent residence for undocumented immigrants only after legal immigrants waiting for a current priority date receive their permanent residence status and a different citizenship path for agricultural workers through an agricultural worker program.

Business immigration system reforms, focusing on reducing current visa backlogs and fast tracking permanent residence for U.S. university immigrant graduates with advanced degrees in science, technology, engineering or math also known as the STEM fields.

An expanded and improved employment verification system for all employers to confirm employee work authorization.

Improved work visa options for low-skilled workers including an agricultural worker program.

Because…Florida:

FL DEP Employee Suspended and Forced to Obtain Medical Release for Mentioning Climate Change

Barton Bibler is a long-time DEP employee who now serves as Land Management Plan Coordinator in its Division of State Lands. He attended a Florida Coastal Managers Forum on February 27, 2015 at which climate change and sea-level rise were discussed among a mix of public attendees. Mr. Bibler’s official notes on this meeting reflected all of that discussion. He was directed to remove any hot button issues, especially explicit references to climate change, and then was given a letter of reprimand for supposedly misrepresenting that the “official meeting agenda included climate change.”

As he was given the reprimand on March 9th, Mr. Bibler was told to not return to work for two days which would be charged against his personal leave time. Two days later he received a “Medical Release Form” requiring that his doctor supply the DEP with an evaluation of unspecified “medical condition and behavior” issues before being allowed to return to work.

This is what Republican government looks like. Right out of 1984.

FL DEP Employee Suspended and Forced to Obtain Medical Release for Mentioning Climate Change

“A few months prior to that, WRAL News revealed that The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) was removing links and documents about climate change from its website. In that case the agency defended the practice, telling ThinkProgress that the state lacked “clear regulatory responsibility” to deal with global warming.

“Though none of those allegations have been definitely proven to come from the governors of those states, their governors do all have two things in common: They do not publicly accept the science of human-caused climate change, and they have actively pushed policies to downplay the threat of human-caused climate change.”

As I’ve mentioned before, Pat McCrory, NC gov, is who we call “The Man from Duke Energy” or “Duke Energy’s Guy in Raleigh”.

The NYT on Jeb Bush’s Catholicism:

He has also suggested that concerns about the Episcopal Church, which has moved steadily to the left on social issues and liturgical matters, played a role in his decision.

“I love the sacraments of the Catholic Church, the timeless nature of the message of the Catholic Church, the fact that the Catholic Church believes in, and acts on, absolute truth as its foundational principle and doesn’t move with the tides of modern times, as my former religion did,” he said in the speech in Italy in 2009.

“doesn’t move with the tides of modern times” = “we pledge to keep our beliefs the same despite any scientific evidence or how many people it hurts.”

‘I just don’t like the black kids’: Middle school vice principal is suspended after being filmed making outrageous comment on camera

A school vice-principal has been suspended after making a racist remark which was caught on video.

Joseph Defillipo from Scandinavian Middle School in Fresno, California, was recorded by a student’s cellphone, saying: ‘I just don’t like the black kids.’

Defillipo had been in the middle of a discussion with several students about who he didn’t like at the school.

The 20-second clip cuts off after the teacher’s racially-insensitive comment.

The vice principal has taught in the district for 18 years and has been at the middle school since 2010.

I’d bet that less than 1% of the population are true libertarians and actually know what it means. The others just think it sounds good to say you’re one.

They think that it’s short for hedonistic liberty, e.g. acting like a teenager where you think you can do anything you want without worrying about repercussions or responsibility for your actions. Along with no clue about how modern societies actually maintain cohesion and survive.

As gun laws become more and more lax, it’s easier for felons to obtain weapons either through the ‘black market’ or through legal channels. The black market will also continue to grow because state and federal laws refuse to regulate firearms. Hell, I’m a firearm owner. I would not care one bit if I had to jump through a few hoops to purchase a weapon. We have to register our cars, get trained to operate the cars, and re-register said vehicles on an annual. Do the same thing for firearms.

Yep, if a transaction is done by an FFL, throw on an extra form with the serial number and who the gun is being sold to. For private transaction, create some Web application where you report it, print a declaration sheet, both parties sign, and mail it in. For the non-Web folks, make the forms available at police department and sheriff’s offices, etc.

I own guns. A lot of guns.
Even though it isn’t required by law, I have a list of each gun and their serial numbers, and I have provided a copy of that list with my local sheriff.
I did that in the event of a potential future scenario where somehow my guns are misappropriated and I am possibly not in a position to provide that detailed information to law enforcement.
I look at it as part of being a responsible gun owner.

The counterexample is, of course, my grandparents, who bought a handgun and stored it in their nightstand because they “felt unsafe” in their gated community + home alarm system. We discovered this after my grandmother passed away and my dad was going through things.

Yesterday I was out with a friend when they decided they needed to bitch out the FedEx Store for some bullshit reason, so I decided to leave them to it and walked a few doors down and checked in on the absolute worst gun store in town. Scratch that, absolute worst store of any kind, maybe anywhere. This place is a depressing hellhole, just a physically gross, dank, unclean, stale smelling shit box with poor lighting and scratched up half empty displays. As I gazed at the Schofield No. 3 Frontier, tried not to get a fungal infection and ignored the Jesus TV playing some show about Christian archaeologists in Israel, the talk behind the counter drifted, in this order, from Ferguson to Eric Holder, race, Starbucks, and how the word “barista” was some totally made up bullshit.

Gun/Light at Night Permit

This permit authorizes a landowner or their designee to take depredating wildlife (beaver, bobcat, fox, possum, rabbit, raccoon, otter, skunk or nutria) at night with a gun and light. The permit is not required to take wild hog, coyote, armadillo, black or Norway rat, and house mouse, with a gun and light during non-daylight hours. Under special restrictions, authorizes harassment (scaring) deer causing damage to crops with a gun and light at night.

Keeping up with the jihadis: Mothers living under ISIS post photographs of their children and newborn babies next to guns on social media in sickening game of one-upmanship

Depraved terrorists use social media to share photos of gun-toting children
Chilling images are titled ‘The Little Terrorist’ and ‘Generation Kilafah’
They show young boys and girls with guns dressed in combat clothing
Others show sleeping newborn babies with rifles propped against the bed
Photographs are a sickening attempt for the twisted men and women living under the rule of ISIS to outdo one another on social media

I don’t think I have ever frequented a gun store or gun show where right-wing politics were not on full ignorant display. I was in a gun store looking for a pocket knife and during the process I was making small talk with the employee. He said just moved to the area from Seattle. That instructor gave the girl more gun than she could handle and he clearly should have known better.

But it was Arizona so he wasn’t required to know better.

re: #251 HappyWarrior

What about the guy who took his 9 year old Uzi shooting and she ended up killing the instructor. If you object to ISIL posing children with guns, you should object to all groups doing it. Let the kids be fucking kids and if they want to take up shooting when they’re older, let em but until then.

I was about 9 or 10 years old when I started shooting, but it was an age-appropriate .22 rifle. And I was under very serious supervision, even long before I was allowed to live fire it.
That was way back in the day when the NRA was still a reasonable organization that had serious classes that actually taught kids responsible shooting.
And the second rule pounded into our heads was “a gun is not a toy.”

The father should have known better too.

re: #264 Romantic Heretic

He did?

Man, that must have been a tricky delivery.

Well, he claimed to:

Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

Dunno how that got past the controls.

re: #234 Dr. Matt

I don’t think I have ever frequented a gun store or gun show where right-wing politics were not on full ignorant display. I was in a gun store looking for a pocket knife and during the process I was making small talk with the employee. He said just moved to the area from Seattle. I commented on how I enjoy Seattle and then he went on a full-bore freeperville rant on how Seattle is nothing but a bunch of “fucking liberals” and how he hates the place because of the “fucking liberals” and will never go back because of the “fucking liberals”. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere.

You “fucking liberal!”

: )

Which sadly is something you don’t see from the gun lobby. Instead, you get Ralphie from A Christmas Story like fantasies about how your gun is going to stop all the bad guys.

Also thank the flying spaghetti monster that we have all been spared a lecture about how this clearly violates the gun store employee’s right to free speech.

It’s a maddening case. I felt for that poor girl since even if it was an accident, the guy still died.

That’s too vulgar. He shoots them out of his mouth:

Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations.

DF, stop being a weasel. She was a 9 yr old child, not an adult. Obviously, the parents thought the employees of that place were trustworthy enough to “instruct” their kid, and they put both him and her in danger.

I repeat: No child that young should be anywhere near an adult weapon.

Yep, I started with a .22 Marlin rifle and a .22 single-action revolver (which was essentially a Saturday Night Special).

I shot a micro Uzi when I was 19 at a gun range and I had trouble controlling it.

I even feel sorry for the two kids who were in the car that hit me (A one year old and a seven year old.). They were unrelated to the driver. And I lived!

“Depraved indifference!” that’s it! you’ve put the ruling principle of the Republican Party into two words! Kudos!

Except for the cases where “depraved malevolence” is closer to the truth.

Another chapter is the “My manager is a fucking idiot” story.

We do monthly scans for a group of about 2 dozen clients, giving them one report. About every 2 years, they require about 5 addition reports for certification.

My solution: We enable the new reports on all the security scans, but we only provide those additional reports when requested and only to the one site which needs them. This means we only spend about 5 minutes per site for the regular scans, and about 30 minutes on the one specific site needing the additional reports. Total man hours: ~2 hours

Manager’s solution: Enable the new reports on every scan and send all the reports to every site, every time, and they can just disregard what they don’t need. Total man hours: ~10 hours

This is on top of all the other extraneous BS he’s coming down with. He recently sent out his ideal timetable of how fast he expected things to take. The team as a whole literally laughed at him.

Him: “I expect everything done in 2-3 days”
Tech Lead: “You see this activity which you said will take 4 hours on the first day? That takes 3 days.”
Him: “Make it happen.”

Yeah, we’ll just go to to the server farms and whip the ethernet cables to push the data faster.

BWHAHA. Just you wait until April 1 when I reveal all.

It’ll make long cons look like child’s play. :)
