Life With Gohmert: “Stop Slapping Israel Around, Obama! It’s Time to Bomb Iran!”

Our favorite batshit crazy Republican Congressman, the wonderfully loony Louie Gohmert, went on the radio show of anti-gay hate group leader Tony Perkins yesterday and declared that President Obama should stop slapping Israel around and just start a war with Iran right away! Bomb them back to the Stone Age, right now! God wants it, and who are we to say no to God?

“We need to make clear to Iran: You can play these silly games with our president that buys into them and our secretary of state, but the American people aren’t buying it and you’re going to pay a price,” Gohmert said.

“I’m hoping and praying the president will realize, despite the agenda he has that has put Christians in jeopardy around the world, that he will not want to leave the Democratic Party so devastated that they won’t recover for many decades,” Gohmert continued, “that maybe he’ll start being more helpful to Israel instead of slapping them around as an unwelcomed visitor and start treating them like a friend. And maybe once he starts doing that he’ll realize we do need to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities that we know of and anything that they move to fix, we bomb that as well.”

Gohmert also pushed the completely bogus conspiracy theory that Obama “threatened to shoot down Israeli planes if they had gone to take out Iran’s nuclear capability.” The allegation is based on a Kuwaiti outlet’s spurious report which cited an anonymous source in the Israeli government.

“I’m just grateful that Netanyahu had announced there will be no two-state solution because, as you mentioned, [End Times author] Joel Rosenberg, he loves to point out in his favorite book, Joel, that Chapter 3, God says I am going to bring down judgment on nations that divide Israel. So I’d kind of hate to be a part of the nation that divides Israel,” he added.

Earth to Gohmert, Earth to Gohmert:

You have been misled by your hero/savior/malcontent Benjamin Netanyahu. He’s no longer saying he’ll never allow a 2-state solution. Rather, he’s still open to a 2-state solution:

Mr. Netanyahu said in an interview on MSNBC that he still wanted “a sustainable, peaceful two-state solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and that he had not intended to reverse the position he took endorsing that in a 2009 speech at Bar-Ilan University. But he said the Palestinian leadership’s refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, and its pact with the militant Islamist Hamas movement, made that impossible right now.

IOW, it’s essentially the same exact position he had before claiming he would never accept a 2-state solution just hours before the election. Gohmert bought into electioneering BS from Netanyahu, like so many other GOPers who are clueless about Israeli politics, Netanyahu, or the Middle East generally.

Then Louie should jump on the first bomb himself but he won’t because he’s a chickenshit coward.

Bill O’Reilly’s statements about Obama and the death of OBL really verify all you need to know about the right in regards to Obama and national security. It’s jealously. It’s jealously that Obama has done more and been more effective fighting terrorism than the Bush administration ever was. It’s knowing that because of Obama they will no longer be able to paint Democrats as soft on terrorism like they did last decade.

We really need to get rid of the DP. I hear DP proponents argue to just get rid of the appeals and that would do away with the costs involved but the DP has so much more than it than just monetary costs.

An innocent man is dead and the most we can do is say “Oops” and punish the then-prosecutor who knowingly put his thumb on the scale.

But death penalty supporters will declare that the man had to be “guilty” of something, that a father would have done everything to save those little girls, and his execution doesn’t mean capital punishment should be reevaluated.

OMG, the oddities from AZ don’t quit:

Stung by her son-in-law’s forced resignation from the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, state Sen. Sylvia Allen authored legislation that would provide more job protections for law-enforcement officers.

Allen, R-Snowflake, said her bill won’t help her son-in-law, a former detention officer who is the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation into allegations of unlawful sexual conduct and promotion of prison contraband. The allegations are the reason he left his job.

[…]

In its original form, SB 1467 banned the use of polygraph tests in administrative investigations of peace officers.

Apparently the wingnuts are slowly coming around to admitting that there’s no way to know where all of Iran’s nuclear program’s sites are, that we can’t take them all out in one fell swoop, and Iran will not just abandon its program after a single strike. So they now want to believe in this fantasy where we can park bombers in Iraq or carriers in the Persian Gulf and just bomb Iran until they submit.

re: #29 Backwoods_Sleuth

And apparently her son is her own very special snowflake…

I think they have a blizzard of them over there.

In 1858, William Flake married Lucy Hannah White and a year later started a cattle ranch in Beaver, Utah. Flake was called by Church leaders to enter into a plural marriage. He asked his wife to consider the decision, and after much prayer and consideration, she agreed. William Flake and Prudence Kartchner were married in 1868.

In 1877, he was called by LDS Church President Brigham Young to start a settlement in the northern area of what was then the Arizona Territory.[6] William left with a wagon train and herds of cattle for the Little Colorado River region of Arizona and arrived in January 1878. Despite much hardship after spending 13 months on the trail and a winter living in stables and wagons, the settlement survived. In the fall of 1878, Erastus Snow, an LDS Apostle, visited and joined with Flake naming the town Snowflake: “Snow for me and Flake for you.” Flake became a rancher and prominent cattleman, noted for his generosity and assistance to his neighbors

[…]

United States Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ), as well as Speaker of the Arizona House and later State Senator Jake Flake, are descendants of William Flake.

“And while consumers don’t appear to be excited about the Apple Watch, the Band has been an unexpected hit for Microsoft.”

The funny thing about that link to a survey that’s been floating around is that shows exactly the opposite. An astounding 31 percent of American consumers are interested in buying an Apple Watch. Yes, 31 is less than 69 but 31 percent is huge. It’s nuts. One might be tempted to call it a metric crapton of American consumers but it’s the U.S. so it’s oddly an Imperial crapton.

Austin Landlords Demolish Piñata Store For SXSW, Call Mexican Tenants ‘Roaches’

French defended the move in an interview with Austin Culture Map by referring to the Lejarazus as “roaches,” a word that has been levied against people of Mexican descent throughout this country’s history.

“Say you have a house that was infested by roaches,” French said. “You have to clean that up.”

French went on to speculate that the Lejarazus, who are of Mexican descent, couldn’t be making a living selling piñatas, telling the reporter the couple must be dealing in “uncontrolled substances.”

61 lawhawk  Mar 19, 2015 12:02:06pm

Why so many people think law enforcement has some serious and deeply ingrained policies that result in discriminatory behavior and outcomes distilled to a photo comparison:

On the left is a guy who’s face is bloodied after being arrested for carrying a fake ID. On the right, the unharmed mug of the mass murderer who shot up a Colorado movie theater, killing 12 and wounding dozens more.

That police could take in a mass murderer without harming the individual - not shot, not injured, not even a paper cut, while the guy with a petty crime has his face bloodied (and had it occurred in the greater STL region, be sued for damaging the uniforms of the officers with his blood).

It’s a point I’ve made before and will continue to make. Racism continues to inform and guide law enforcement policies around the nation and that has to stop.

Why the American people think anybody can be prevented from getting 70-year-old technology if they want to, and why they would feel threatened by a very small nuclear arsenal on the other side of the world, are separate questions.

There’s very sound reasons why most nations have signed the NPT (Iran included).

Let me repeat that last bit. Iran signed the NPT. This is why we’re seeing P5+1 talks and that it isn’t just the US looking to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program from moving ahead.

There are practical reasons too - if Iran gets nukes, it might encourage Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and the other Gulf States to get their own (likely via Pakistan) to maintain a balance of power (MAD) to keep Iran in check.

Some people think Iran might pursue nuclear weapons - and to use them against its enemies so as to bring about a religious epiphany - end times stuff that ignores most rational actor analysis that Iran’s leaders will not be so crazy as to use them since it would mean their very end. With Ahmadinejad, the crazy wing was definitely in charge, but the current leaders have ratcheted back the crazy.

It still comes down to trust but verify (you know, Reagan’s old adage in dealing with the then Soviet nuclear inventory). It worked then, it could work here still.

re: #89 lawhawk

Our crazies projecting on their crazies since they’d toss the nukes to bring about the End Times and destroy the infidels if they could.

Don’t see why not, Chris.

Are you willing to pay the taxes that will be required to buy everyone a gun?

Also, what type of gun? Full auto assault rifle? SMG? Semi-auto or bolt action rifle? Shotgun? Pistol? Do people get a choice of gun or must it be a federally mandated one? Will you be in favour of preventing gun manufacturers from lobbying if the guns provided are federally mandated?

On top of that, you wouldn’t mind if the Federal government kept track of the guns bought with federal subsidies? Don’t you think people would take that money and spend it on drugs or booze or even food and housing for that matter?

Just asking questions.

Toting guns a God-given right? Texas senators spar over the question

“…This week has been all about guns in the Texas Senate. As the GOP-led chamber easily, and unsurprisingly, passed two contentious firearms bills, the same theme ran under the entire Republican explanation for their support:

The right to bear arms is God-given.

The argument isn’t new. For years, conservatives in Texas and elsewhere have come to the same conclusion. But now Republican lawmakers are using the idea as a rationale for expanding gun rights in any way, shape, or form, with the stated end of making Texas a constitutional carry state.”

Judge Won’t Release Grand Jury Testimony in Chokehold Death

abcnews.go.com

“A judge on Thursday refused to release testimony heard by a grand jury that declined to indict a police officer in the chokehold death of Eric Garner, arguing there wasn’t a good enough reason to release the secret information.

“The New York Civil Liberties and others had asked the court to order Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donovan to release the grand jury transcript, including the testimony of the officer involved, Daniel Pantaleo, and dozens of witnesses, detailed descriptions of evidence and other documentation. A similar step was voluntarily taken by the prosecutor in Ferguson, Missouri, when a grand jury there refused to indict a white officer in the fatal police shooting of Michael Brown, a black 18-year-old.

“Civil liberties lawyers had argued that the public needed to reconcile the widely watched video of the arrest with the decision not to indict the officer involved.” More

In yet another instance of state lawmakers taking a perfectly nice idea proposed by some civic-minded kids and teaching them a wholly dispiriting lesson about how government really works, several members of the New Hampshire House went out of their way last Thursday to be personally dickish to a group of fourth graders who had written to their state representative to propose a bill. The kids had proposed that the red-tailed hawk be named the official State Raptor, and the bill initially made it through the Environment and Agriculture committee. But when the kids and their teacher, James Cutting, took a field trip Lincoln Akerman School in Hampton Falls to see their bill pass in the full House, they got a civics lesson they hadn’t expected.

snip

…Rep. Warren Groen (Guess which party!), who somehow managed to suggest that the fourth graders were a mob of potential abortionists:

“It grasps them with its talons then uses its razor sharp beak to basically tear it apart limb by limb, and I guess the shame about making this a state bird is it would serve as a much better mascot for Planned Parenthood.”

Presumably, Rep. Groen then distributed gory photos of aborted fetuses to the kids to help them remember their trip to the state house.

I find that surprising not even a little. A couple of months ago I went to a Payless for some new sneakers. Got to the counter to pay and the clerk asks for my phone number. I told her that I don’t give out my phone number. She pressed the issue. I again said no, I just want to buy the sneakers. She then asked for my email address. I said no, you don’t need my email address. She looked all shocked and asked “you don’t want our special offers?!” I said no, I don’t want your spam, I just want to buy these sneakers. Damn, if she then didn’t ask for my mailing address.

There are a number of those out there. A ‘suicide’ in this county was a 16 yr-old kid found hanging in a park, a few hours after he got his driver’s license. Still open, according to the FBI.

HO LEE FUCK ING SHIT.
I just watched that Bryan Fischer video.
A called to his program suggests that 56 million people have to be killed.
Bryan explains why he agrees.
Starts at about 7:50.
Bryan says this at 10:10
“American blood is going to have to be spilled on American soil to serve god’s justice for cleansing the land.”

Regarding nutjob Louie Loony Gohmert,

I seem to think the Bible was written prior to St. Reagan being deified. So, why wasn’t God upset with Ronnie when he was backdooring both Israel and the US…and really the entire world?

Maybe there is a secret passage in Louie’s bible that states the “dividing of Israel” can only be bad when a Democrat administration causes it.

That man needs to be checked into a mental hospital. For our safety.

I don’t support the idea of mandatory voting, for one simple reason: To vote is to make a statement about whom you think can do the job better. “Make your voice be heard” is sometimes said in relation to voting. However, freedom of speech also includes the right to be silent, to not be heard if that is what one wishes to do. Freedom means being able to vote or not vote according to what an individual sees fit to do (within those laws needed to protect life, liberty, and property, of course).

re: #242 Kragar

A team of prominent Christian leaders is preparing a statement that will inform the public - including justices on the U.S. Supreme Court - that they will engage in civil disobedience rather than follow a ruling that establishes homosexual “marriage” in the United States. Among those leading the charge is James Dobson of Family Talk Radio, Rick Scarborough of Vision America Action, Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel and James Robison of Life Today, whose brand new publication called The Stream reported on a recent telephone conference call discussing the issue.

Stream Executive Editor Jay Richards told WND there were about 20 other Christian leaders on the call. He said members of Congress have expressed an interest in the plan, which will be disclosed in the next few days in a statement regarding marriage and the U.S. Supreme Court. However, Scarborough wasted no time in an interview with WND explaining what is, and is not, going to happen. “We’re taking a very adamant stand,” he said. “If the court declares same-sex ‘marriage’ to be on the same par as a civil right, that’s a bridge too far. We won’t obey. We’ll go to jail.”

Not linking to it because World Net Daily. I got it from Joe My God but their ads can be a bit NSFW.

Joe My God points out that “Since none of the members of Congress and none of these hate group leaders will have the responsibility of issuing marriage licenses, threats of civil disobedience are, of course, entirely laughable unless they plan to throw their bodies in front of county clerks’ offices.”

You just know they’re going to block doorways and think of it as championing civil rights for christians.
