Former SCGOP Head Todd Kincannon Accused of Threatening Wife

Todd Kincannon, former executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party and unreconstructed hateful racist, was questioned by police last Thursday after threatening his wife and refusing to let her out of the car in a Chick-fil-A parking lot.

Todd Kincannon, a Columbia attorney and former executive director of the S.C. Republican Party, has been accused of threatening his wife and refusing to let her out of his car Thursday night, according to a report from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. He has not been arrested or charged with any crimes, according to a sheriff’s department spokesman.

The report states that on Thursday at about 10:21 p.m., a sheriff’s deputy responded to Kincannon’s house in Columbia “regarding a possible domestic incident.” The deputy met with Kincannon, who said he and his wife had gotten in an argument about him “touching [his wife’s] leg at a work function.” The report notes that Kincannon “denied any physical altercation and had no signs of such.”

The officer then spoke with Kincannon’s wife, Ashely Suzanne Griffith, who said that they “have a history of unreported domestic violence.” She said she was “extremely fearful” of Kincannon and described him as being “extremely ‘traditional’ and controlling, thus becoming very upset due to embarrassing him,” according to the report.

Kincannon’s accounts on Twitter were recently suspended, after a long history of posting insanely offensive and racist tweets, often advocating or excusing violence. For example, he posted our Most Disgusting Right Wing Tweet About Ray Rice last year. Because his account is suspended, we can’t embed the tweet any more, but this is our saved text version of it:

Anyone surprised he’s being accused of abusing his wife?

You’d be amazed how many of these people view their wives as property instead of people. This is based on an incorrect take on the Bible.

I think it’s more a case of ‘will’ than ‘could’, and I’m worried that nothing will happen before ‘will’ becomes ‘did’….

“extremely ‘traditional’ and controlling,”

Yeah, “traditional.”

Every time I hear about one of these dominionist cavemen, I have to wonder about the woman who is married to him, and they all make a big deal out of being married. Is she afraid for her life and her children? Is she actively abused? Did she grow up in a similar household? Does she need help but doesn’t know where to turn?
A husband with sexist, patriarchal views should be grounds for an investigation by itself, especially if there is an endorsement of violence, but we know that can’t happen.

By controlling people and their possessions they become more powerful and that does not make them happy. They continue to want more and more power. It is a vicious circle.

re: #3 Eclectic Cyborg

Like any scripture, the Bible is open to interpretation. Of course it reflects the traditional sexism of its authors, which looks quite extreme by today’s standards. That said there’s always a choice. If one is an asshole, one will emphasize the part about the husband being a master over his wife. Then again, one could concentrate on the part about mutual respect.

Well…

So, in the end, if a woman who is wrecking her house gets spanked black and blue, it is not possible for anyone to say that the Bible expressly forbids it. Nor is
it possible to say that the Bible does not suggest the possibility of lumps and bruises is preferable to divorce since “they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder (Matthew 19:6 [the “one flesh” reference appears several times, including Genesis 2:24]).”

Bears Acting Better Than Human:

54 Flying Squirrel Girl  Mar 29, 2015 12:50:41pm

Excellent comment from Rawstory article about the Pence interview:

“Tired of the florist/photographer/baker example. It purposely marginalizes the very real possibilities a law like this provides. Indiana is for the most part a large collection of small rural communities. Towns with 1-3 grocery stores, 1-3 service stations, 1 school, volunteer fire fighters/EMT’s, etc. These areas aren’t exactly gay friendly to begin with. So you’re gay (or a gay couple) and happen to live in one of theses communities…

And one morning you wake up and the local grocery refuses to sell you food, well, because you’re gay. The local mechanic won’t fix the failing brakes on your truck, well, because you’re gay. That night your house catches ablaze and the volunteer fire fighters stand around and watch it burn to the ground. Because you’re gay.

So can we please move away from the florist/photographer/baker already? There are bigger issues at hand. How about the fact that in Indiana you can now discriminate against anyone you wish and just say you thought they were gay?

It’s not that you’re Black, Hispanic, Muslim, Jewish, I think you might be gay so I’m going to refuse you service. Laws like this create a legal quagmire and flat out promote bigotry and racism.”

This trend is moving up the GOP charts very quickly. Just the other day one of the GCC deniers wrote that Cruz was being “smeared” by those who pointed out the science that debunked his stand on GCC. The GOP/fundie nexus has been crying that they’re oppressed for years. They’ve moved on to categorizing the simple statement of any fact that disputes them as an attack and/or a smear.

Indiana’s being given shit because the bill is in response to wingnuts getting their panties in a wad over a bakery in Indianapolis that got shit for not wanting to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple because it “violated” their “deeply held” beliefs. It’s because the older laws in most of the other states are different than this law. Those laws were similar to the federal law, which was originally created so that you couldn’t get in trouble with the law for performing things related to religious practices or to give religion some leverage when dealing with the government (such as when a local government declares a church to be a historical landmark to keep it from being modified). The Indiana law was specifically designed to allow discrimination.

Not to mention the Indiana law and similar ones are coming in the wake of Hobby Lobby, banking on what I can only assume is a belief that, when these laws are inevitably challenged, SCOTUS will have to agree that “religious freedom” trumps nondiscrimination laws. That since the court won’t debate what beliefs are “deeply held,” they can’t say that a person believing that serving gay customers is a sin is wrong.

The BBT is as much a fact as the general relativity, which predicts an expanding universe unless there is a cosmological constant with a very specific value (allegedly Einstein’s “biggest blunder”), and the latter is surely a fact (see: satellites; best practical “proof”). The cosmic background radiation is just the icing on the cake.

Yeah, but God talks to him:

But as I sit here in the Portland airport awaiting my flight to Dallas-Ft Worth, God asked me to share some scripture verses with you all. […]

Gawd, the whole post is so absurd—he really laid it on thick. *eyeroll*

Needs to proofread his posts before publishing them too:

So hear are the words from Isaiah Chapter 54, verse 17 (NIV), […]

Heh.
Watch the moment a Fox host realizes Louie Gohmert is crazy because he has ‘plan’ to bomb Iran

Wow. Gohmert brings out the residual sane in Fox news.

213 Nyet  Mar 29, 2015 4:42:55pm
Gohmert argued that Russia might even get behind an attack on Iran because its leaders were “concerned about radical Islamist terror much more so than [the Obama] administration is.”

Ah, um.

aljazeera.com

Gohmert, you fucking vegetable.

“The earth has to be a closed system, I’ve never been off of it.”

To which I reply, “Judging from how out there your beliefs are I’d say you’ve never been on it.”

People twist themselves into stupidities they would not normally fall into when the twist is needed to spare them cognitive dissonance.

It’s pretty simple how a single species can have a splinter population that gets isolated and evolves into a new species, while the old one carries on in its same old environment and remains pretty much as it was.

There’s species of fish that are blind, in caves that aren’t all that old. The obvious “parent” species is still there, all around, outside the cave.

It’s not quite as obvious, but a species can find that its range has broken in two [new river, gap opens up as tectonic plates separate a continent into two, that sort of thing] and the two populations are isolated from each other, in environments that are different. Naturally, they evolve along their own paths from then on. Each came from a “parent” species that no longer exists. But one may have changed more than the other, so to some extent you could say that the less-changed species “is” the parent species.

This sort of reasoning is well within the capacity of anyone with triple digit IQs. These science-challenged folk would understand in a snap a similarly (and not very) complicated explanation of how styles of play in chess and opening move sequences “evolved”, with the old openings still also being used from time to time.

no, this is a correct take on the Bible.

Also, according to the Bible, possessions include children, slave workers, sex slaves, wives (numerous), entire households, and conquered enemies.
