Glenn Beck Announces Gays Are Nazis, Then Announces Interview With Gay Pundit Glenn Greenwald

The two Glenns together at last
Wingnuts • Views: 54,599

YouTube

In a masterpiece of moronic mixed metaphors, Glenn Beck announced today on his radio show that gay rights activists are building a Nazi regime while wearing the robes of the Inquisition that will lead to a Christian Holocaust.

This is what happens when you throw a bunch of ridiculously extreme right wing memes in a blender and set it on “purée.”

In other Glenn Beck news, the raving freakazoid nut sandwich also announced that tomorrow he’ll be interviewing gay “liberal” pundit Glenn Greenwald.

And the Mighty Greenwald has already responded to those who have the temerity to criticize him for this, by comparing himself to President Obama being interviewed by Bill O’Reilly, and calling his critics “absolute idiots.”

That’s how the Mighty G rolls.

It’s an idiots delight of self-serving egotistical blowhards. No wonder they’re patting each other on the back for the interview.

The suitcase was at the Prague airport THE WHOLE FUCKING TIME. We were reunited in time to arrive in Tel Aviv together.

We are now in Jerusalem with all the baggage. Nothing is missing (that we have noticed) but TSA literally left a calling card.

It isn’t the fix which I’d want to see, which is a full conformity with the fed RFRA. Instead, this is a lame attempt to paper over the fact that the state is legalizing discrimination, but it’s limiting to a minor extent who can do the discriminating.

It would have been better to repeal the law outright, or to delete all those provisions that differed from the fed RFRA - but doing so would have been tacit recognition that it wasn’t the same as the fed RFRA (heck, even these amendments are recognition of that point, but the GOP still wants to discriminate using religion as an excuse). So that’s where we are.

Folks…let us not limit the definitions of the meaning of the word right. I know this is mainly a political blog/forum and easy to limit it to left and right as in political stances. But consider the two Glenns we are speaking about. In many political ways these two are very seldom right*!

* right (From thefreedisctionary.com
(rīt)
adj. right*er, right*est
1. Conforming with or conformable to justice, law, or morality: do the right thing and confess.
2. In accordance with fact, reason, or truth; correct: the right answer.
3. Fitting, proper, or appropriate: It is not right to leave the party without saying goodbye.
4. Most favorable, desirable, or convenient: the right time to act.
5. In or into a satisfactory state or condition: put things right.
6. In good mental or physical health or order.

The problem with an all-or-nothing, good-vs-evil outlook is that it makes ANY deal short of the Iranian government completely capitulating a bad deal. You can’t even leave them with a crumb, or it’s not harsh enough. This is why Iran now has 19,000 centrifuges - because we wouldn’t even talk to them unless they gave up ALL their enrichment capacity as a precondition.

This conversation has actually been had before actually and I think it’s quite true. Once the New Deal’s promises were started to be promised to racial minorities is when you saw the raise of the anti “big government” types in the US. Now there always was an anti-New Deal right mind you but it only really took off when the right exploited opposition to the aforementioned.

I think you’re giving them too much credit. The deeper thinkers of the Right base it on the use of ‘Sozialistische’.

The Rank and Vile wingnut knows ‘Nazi’ = Bad, and ‘Leftist’ = Bad, so ‘Leftist’ must equal ‘Nazi’ (they’re not good at logic, either).

the nazis didnt actually add anything to the existing welfare state (such as it was) for germans except for a luxury cruise subsidy

‘socialism’, in any case, strictly speaking, is defined as an economic framework where the state owns and operates all major industries, and the nazis never did anything remotely like that

all other definitions of socialism will cover, to a greater or lesser degree, any government you can think of

ironically, the real originator of the german welfare state was the arch-conservative otto bismark, of whom it was said “he jailed and executed the socialists and then implemented their ideas”

Fascism is accurately called third way since it’s not really socialistic but it’s not really capitalistic either. If you want proof that fascism is more of the right than the left, you need to look only at the actions of rightists from that era. They weren’t huge on Hitler granted but many of them did think highly of Mussolini and Franco.

Bismarck implemented the world’s first welfare state in the 1880s. He worked closely with large industry and aimed to stimulate German economic growth by giving workers greater security.[65] A secondary concern was trumping the Socialists, who had no welfare proposals of their own and opposed Bismarck’s. Bismarck especially listened to Hermann Wagener and Theodor Lohmann, advisers who persuaded him to give workers a corporate status in the legal and political structures of the new German state.[66] In March 1884, Bismarck declared:

“The real grievance of the worker is the insecurity of his existence; he is not sure that he will always have work, he is not sure that he will always be healthy, and he foresees that he will one day be old and unfit to work. If he falls into poverty, even if only through a prolonged illness, he is then completely helpless, left to his own devices, and society does not currently recognize any real obligation towards him beyond the usual help for the poor, even if he has been working all the time ever so faithfully and diligently. The usual help for the poor, however, leaves a lot to be desired, especially in large cities, where it is very much worse than in the country.”[67]

Bismarck’s idea was to implement welfare programs that were acceptable to conservatives without any socialistic aspects. He was dubious about laws protecting workers at the workplace, such as safe working conditions, limitation of work hours, and the regulation of women’s and child labor. He believed that such regulation would force workers and employers to reduce work and production, and thus harm the economy. Bismarck opened debate on the subject in November 1881 in the Imperial Message to the Reichstag, using the term practical Christianity to describe his program.[68] Bismarck’s program centered squarely on insurance programs designed to increase productivity, and focus the political attentions of German workers on supporting the Junkers’ government. The program included sickness insurance, accident insurance, disability insurance, and a retirement pension, none of which were then in existence to any great degree.

Based on Bismarck’s message, the Reichstag filed three bills to deal with the concepts of accident and sickness insurance. The subjects of retirement pensions and disability insurance were placed on the back-burner for the time being.[69] The social legislation implemented by Bismarck in the 1880s played a key role in the sharp, rapid decline of German emigration to America. Young men considering emigration looked at not only the gap between higher hourly “direct wages” in the United States and Germany but also the differential in “indirect wages”—social benefits, which favored staying in Germany. The young men went to German industrial cities, so that Bismarck’s insurance system partly offset low wage rates in Germany and furthered the fall of the emigration rate.[70]

Today’s adventure? METRICS!

So he wants to figure out how many machines we scan in a given task, then figure out how many we don’t have access to, based on a pool of 4 different failed access codes.

Seems simple enough, so how does he want it implemented? He just wants us to add up numbers for 4 those failed access codes to give us the number of failed machines.

Now, I’m sure some of you have already noticed the fundamental flaw with that logic.

A single machine can technically fail access 4 times based on the fail codes.

Which is why, using his methodology on a test scan of 3000 machines, we had 5272 machines which failed access.

I’m not even bothering to bring this up to him. I told the technical lead I’m just plugging in the numbers as I was instructed because its not worth the effort or the headaches trying to correct this moron.

The other bit that differs fascism and Nazism from traiditional European rightism is that neither ideology is really pro-monarchy. Now where things get interesting is how the church is used. Franco was absolutely a clerical fascist as well the Utasse in Croatia but Hitler and Mussolini while they happily used the church to gain and maintain power really didn’t have much personal use for it. It’s always been the subtle differences in how leaders adapt ideologies for their respected countries that fascinates me. Mao’s brand of Marxism for example also is totally different from traditional Marxist theory since Mao used the peasants and not the urban working class his power building block. Granted that was more of a situation that happened due to China during the Chinese civil war following the emperor’s abdication was a very agrarian society.

I would recommend Götz Aly’s Hitler’s Beneficiaries: Plunder, Racial War, and the Nazi Welfare State, which documents why and how the Nazis developed their welfare state. At the conclusion of the book he states:

At the beginning of this book, the question was posed as to how the Nazi regime was able to achieve such a high level of domestic political stability. In practice, the uneasy marriage of sophisticated financial expertise and the politics of popular opinion oriented around the welfare of the masses proved remarkably fruitful. The Nazi leaders were constantly handing out benefits to ordinary Germans, keeping them remarkably well fed and well supplied. At the same time, those who possessed the financial know-how compensated as best they could for the state’s generosity. They kept increasing taxes on Germany’s wealthy, not because they thought that made the most sense but because it was the only option for raising taxes at all within the country. They forcibly introduced means of non-currency payment into occupied countries to restrict the amount of cash in circulation and whenever possible imposed new taxes on foreign citizens. Professional considerations prompted them to encourage the dispossession of Europe’s Jews in order to put the brakes on inflationary pressure.

[…]

Only the uneasy cooperation of both of these policy-making camps ensured that equilibrium would be maintained. Realism and apolitical expertise merged with a racist ideology bent on creating a welfare state for the benefit of ethnically “pure” Germans. It was in the interaction of these two elements—neither of which would have functioned on its own—that National Socialism developed its destructive potential.

The State and the ‘Logic’ of Racism.

“The current political conception of the world is that the State, though it possesses a creative force, which can build up civilizations, has nothing in common with the concept of race as the foundation of the State. The State is considered rather as something which has resulted from economic necessity, or, at best, the natural outcome of the play of political forces and impulses.” —Hitler

Hitler himself grew up under the rule of a multiethnic state and all it’s inherent conflicts. His lifelong yearning for a greater Germany, where ethnic Germans exclusively convey and control all political and cultural pursuits, made acceptance of the egalitarian principle of statehood undesirable. Since politics in public is an ass riding a donkey, particularly in a setting such as the Austria-Hungary legislative branch where perhaps as many as a dozen different languages prevailed among the representatives (translators outnumbered legislators), Hitler found it easy to disparage the entire, admittedly failed, system. Skipping most of that (about a quarter of chapter one is consumed with it), what Hitler needed was a more traditional tribal state.

“Such a conception of the foundations of the State, together with all its logical consequences, not only ignores the primordial racial forces that underlie the State, but it also leads to a policy in which the importance of the individual is minimized. If it be denied that races differ from one another in their powers of cultural creativeness, then this same erroneous notion must necessarily influence our estimation of the value of the individual.” —Hitler

The very first primitive political groupings resembling functional states were of necessity mono-ethnic, a state Hitler romanticized, while ignoring the historical reality of the evident superiority of variations of the egalitarian state in the ancient and modern world (see the Roman Empire, Bismarck’s Reich, the British Empire, etc.). He emphasizes race as a primordial force and utilizes this racial state construct to justify his vision of a greater, mono-ethnic Germany, as well as a foundation for a rationalization of racism.

He begins with a ‘truth.’

“Therefore on the volkisch principle we cannot admit that one race is equal to another.” —Hitler

i would recommend richard evan’s ‘the third reich in power’ where he explicitly takes up the subject of whether or not the nazis added anything to the social welfare already existing in germany, or did anything to implement socialism under the dictionary definition of nationalizing industry or restricting private property

amazon.com

the book was researched and written in the last 15 years and so is aware of the spurious ideas about nazism and ‘socialism’ - under whatever definition you want to locate the word - which is why he feels the need to subject the question to detailed research

mr. aly’s statements seem to me to be rather on the vague side. it certainly could not be said that the nazis created a welfare state in germany, since in the sense of pensions and health insurance subsidized with taxes, these things had already existed for decades. as for ‘handing out benefits’, perhaps he could supply some detail on what he might mean by that other than the handing out of plunder which the nazis did in the manner of pirates or roman conquerors more than anything else

as for, again, the dictionary definition of socialism - so far from nationalizing anything, the private industrialists in germany during the 30s were ecstatic with how much money they were making from the giant contracts that the nazi government handed out like chocolates

krupp, daimler, messerschmidt, and many others - nazi germany was a paradise for big private corporations

Had an interesting occurance at the shop this afternoon. I stopped in to drop off some prints from the dive trip, owner asked me to cover for a few minutes, he had a couple of errands to run. No problem.

Guy comes in with a tank he wanted filled. Now tanks need a hydrostatic test every 5 years, and an annual visual inspection yearly. I can’t fill it if it doesn’t meet those. The hydro date was Apr 08, and the last Visual was 2013. The biggest problem is that he had bought it from the owner of the OTHER dive shop in town last month and was assured that it was ready for use. He uses them for filling high powered Air Rifles (not your old pump-up pellet gun by any measure) for target shooting.

I was dealing as diplomatically as I could with the problem when the owner came back, and we all agreed the best thing was to rent him a tank for the weekend, and that he should take the matter up with the owner of the other shop. Of course it’s possible that he was mistaken in what he understood, but the fact that a new (used) tank had an expired hydro and an out of date vis while being sold is almost unthinkable. It’s not like it’s a major expense, especially considering the shop can do the vis in house. (Hydro needs special and expensive equipment, everybody farms it out to the people who have the equipment)

All those years teaching seems to have sharpened up my “Soft Skills”, since everybody walked away as happy as the situation allowed.

Perhaps you could read the book.

evans specifies the luxury cruise benefit as the only tangible addition that the nazis made to the social welfare policies already available to the german working class at the time he came to power. of course, hitler also banned all existing labor unions

but as i said before, social welfare programs of some kind are literally universal today, and i don’t accept the existence of them as constituting a socialist state or an identification of a government with socialism…

…unless you want to say that the main goal of karl marx was to bring tax funded retirement pensions, health insurance, and unemployment compensation to the workers of the world, and that therefore socialism has triumphed everywhere

no, the real demarcation between industrialized democracies with social insurance programs and socialist states lies in the ownership and operation of industry and food production by the state, and the abolition of private companies

the soviet union and communist china implemented ‘dictionary’ socialism. the nazis did not.

bismark introduced significant new social welfare programs in germany. the nazis did not

Why do they even call it that? The Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion in the First Amendment. What the hell needs to be “restored”, anyway?

I wonder if the RW knows that the origin of this whole magilla was mostly about workers rights, non-Christian tribal beliefs and rituals, and peyote buttons — things I’m pretty sure they’re not big fans of.

That is precisely how most wingnuts I’ve ever talked to define Socialism, but then they will next say that the fall of the USSR and the ‘Capitalization’ of the PRC prove that Socialism doesn’t work. They always feel free to define ‘socialism’ as ‘whatever I want it to mean’, but then apply any ‘conclusions’ across all definitions. It makes trying to discuss any social welfare programs with them a waste of time.

Socialism can’t be pinned down by simply saying that the state owns the socialized means of production. There are varying degrees of socialism, social democrats, communists, etc, which cannot all be lumped together as the same “socialism”. Some forms of socialism have production outside the state’s authority (even if heavily regulated) and profits go to individuals; others can be operated on a cooperative basis, with profits shared, or the State manages production and collects profits. A mix of economic, social and governmental functions in a state can determine for itself whether or not it considers itself “socialist”, most, though, have a very defined safety net that assists those who cannot work—children, the aged, the disabled.

i just go by what marx, lenin, mao, and merriam-webster have to say about it:

socialism
noun so*cial*ism ˈsō-shə-ˌli-zəm

: a way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies

Full Definition of SOCIALISM
1
: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2
a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property
b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3
: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

i know that it is common usage to say that an activity is ‘socialized’ when it is operated by the state, as in social security, medicare, etc in this country, and i am not disputing that usage - although you would have to say that we have a socialist armed forces if you want to stick to this definition literally…

but i like to be as clear as possible about which ‘socialism’ we are talking about at any given moment

The problem is seeing Capitalism as a belief system, and not as a tool. It’s a great tool for the creation of wealth and to reward hard work, innovation, and risktaking. But the problem is, mostly, it rewards having money. Left to itself it increasingly rewards being rich, and decreasingly rewards what we want it to.

Somewhere along the line, too many people came to see it as an end in itself.

INDIANAPOLIS — NCAA President Mark Emmert said Thursday he would not rule out moving the organization’s headquarters from Indianapolis and said the association would look more closely at potentially discriminatory laws before awarding bids for future championship sites.

During a news conference before the Final Four, he said that a controversial Indiana law that would allow businesses to refuse service to individuals on the basis of sexual orientation was a more important issue than basketball.

“If I believed we couldn’t conduct our affairs in any place in a fashion that didn’t prohibit discrimination against people for any number of reasons, then I would surely recommend that we move,” Emmert said. “I hope that we don’t find ourselves in that place.”
