Rand Paul Refuses to Spell Out Abortion Ban Exceptions, Snaps at Interviewer

The clown car is starting to roll
Politics • Views: 27,306

Rand Paul has been very busy today dodging questions right and left, and in an interview with the Associated Press he did his best to avoid answering the question of whether he supports stripping women of the right to control their own bodies in just some circumstances, or in all circumstances: AP Interview: Paul Won’t Spell Out Abortion Ban Exceptions.

He’s pandering to the religious right, of course, because he knows there’s no way he’ll ever win the GOP nomination without the support of the fanatics.

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) — Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a newly declared Republican presidential candidate, is dodging a central question about abortion: What exceptions, if any, should be made if the procedure were to be banned?

In an interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday, Paul would not say where, in his view, a pregnant woman’s rights begin and those of the fetus end.

“The thing is about abortion — and about a lot of things — is that I think people get tied up in all these details of, sort of, you’re this or this or that, or you’re hard and fast (on) one thing or the other,” Paul said.

That was truly pathetic.

And when the AP’s interviewer pressed him on the question, Rand got very upset and snapped.

Paul grew testy when pressed in the interview on the question of exceptions. “I gave you about a five-minute answer. Put in my five-minute answer,” he said.

“The bystander who recorded video that appears to show a white police officer shooting an unarmed black man in the back in South Carolina said there was a struggle between the two men before the deadly shooting, but the officer had control of the situation before he opened fire.

“In an exclusive interview with “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt on Wednesday, Feidin Santana said he started recording after he heard a Taser being deployed.

“I remember the police had control of the situation,” Santana said. “He had control of Scott. And Scott was trying just to get away from the Taser.” More

Since we’ve had to suffer Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham’s comments on the subject, thought I’d share a sane statement from the SC Democratic Party chair, Jaime Harrison.

“First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Walter Scott. No words can fix the heartache they must be experiencing. South Carolina and the nation mourn their loss and share their pain.

The tragic and entirely unnecessary death of Walter Scott is further proof that we have a systemic problem with rogue members of law enforcement and their interactions with communities of color. Sadly, this type of incident really isn’t new for many African-American communities and it only perpetuates the fear that so many have regarding interacting with members of law enforcement. We know this is not emblematic of law enforcement generally. There are thousands of officers and departments that are model protectors of the public. Nonetheless, we have to root out the bad officers who should not be police if they cannot serve, protect and value the lives of all Americans.

Growing up in Orangeburg, I often heard families tell stories of rogue officers abusing their authority and mistreating young Black men. Even now, as the first African-American Chair of a major statewide political party, I cannot honestly say that I would not be a bit nervous or overly cautious if suddenly I was being pulled over by an officer. This lingering distrust between these communities must end and the total disregard for equal justice and preservation of human life must stop. No parent should have to worry about their child or love one being shot in the back by a rogue officer.

As a community, we must work together to find solutions now! I specifically call upon our elected and community leaders to put aside politics and bias and begin to forge a path forward. We need more dialogue and community forums to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and communities of color. We need to enact legislation that improves law enforcement training and oversight, as well as provide body cameras for law enforcement officials so as to accurately record and reflect tense interactions. We need law enforcement officials to begin to identify those within their ranks that have had issues and problems dealing with diverse communities and assist them with counseling or relieve them of their duties.

America continues to be a beacon for hope, freedom, and justice all across the world, but we will and should be judged by others and ourselves in how we deal with these blatant instances of injustice.”

It’s great that the white house is taking a stand against conversion therapy, and I really appreciate their maximum trolling of homophobes.

Still to be determined. What type of snake is Rand Paul?

Definitely venomous.

Fun. Top down shooter. Looks simple, isn’t. Moderately steep learning curve. So far this game has taught me that even with a God’s eye view I have no real tactical awareness whatsoever and therefore I die all the damned time.

I can’t watch. It’s too sad. What did they say?

re: #106 WhatEVs

talked about their brother and when asked about the man who recorded the video…one of the brothers “Anthony” I believe said “that man is my brother…”
without him, they may never had known the truth.

What a mess. I recall reading that some of New York’s infrastructure is over 100 years old. I’d guess that fixing the thing won’t be fast and will be disruptive.

I was in another room, but I heard one brother talking about how they grew up, and their mother’s role in their lives. They’re obviously very devastated and the brothers seemed to be protective of one another.

One brother did say that Walter said he wasn’t going to jail for child support which no doubt he had trouble paying.

If his kids were receiving aid, I wouldn’t doubt the State was the perpetrator of the support warrants and they go after non-payers with a vengeance when they decide to do so, to make the non-supporting parent pay back the State. The parent receiving the aid must cooperate with the authorities in locating the n-s parent and are pressured to get it done, whether the non-supporting parent is working or not.

I’d like to invent the Second Person Shooter game. You roam through the game, seeing what your adversary sees, and he sees what your character sees. See that guy there? That’s you! Now turn him around and have him aim at you, and shoot you. You win!

Hours of frustration for the whole family!

We need 2 immediate responses to the Walter Scott murder, police union threats and caterwauling be damned :

Instant repeal of all those “no filming” laws so dear the police unions. Any case of police intimidation involving citizen video should be at the front of the DoJ’s agenda.
A nationwide requirement for body cameras, with hefty fines for unjustified turn offs. We have this technology, we should use it.

I’ve come to the conclusion that no officer should be on the street with a side arm more lethal than a tazer and that anything stronger should be kept in a locked and sealed container in the squad car requiring authorization by the chief before it can be opened.

fixt.

Our water system was mostly from the 1880’s, with a 100-year design life. At this point, it’s held together by rust and duct tape.

Man…this guy should have just stayed anonymous. They will be coming after him now. SMDH…I don’t know why he came forward, but if it was for money then man, I hope it’s worth the shitstorm that’s coming his way.

For money? What?

He came forward because he saw something he couldn’t let stand. He knows about the trouble that will come with the territory, but he’s doing it anyhow because it’s the right thing to do.

Where I come from, we call that courage.
