The Next Right Wing Freakout Looms: Obama to Call for Ban on ‘Conversion’ Therapies for Gay/Transgender Youth

Long overdue
Politics • Views: 28,043

President Obama may have originally been opposed to same sex marriage, but he’s now making it clear he’s not going to take the nonsense being peddled by homophobes any more: Obama to Call for End to ‘Conversion’ Therapies for Gay and Transgender Youth.

In a statement to be posted on Wednesday evening alongside a whitehouse.gov petition begun in honor of Ms. Alcorn, Mr. Obama will condemn the psychiatric practice, sometimes called “conversion” or “reparative” therapy, which is supported by some socially conservative organizations and religious doctors. The petition has received more than 120,000 signatures in three months.

“We share your concern about its potentially devastating effects on the lives of transgender as well as gay, lesbian, bisexual and queer youth,” the statement, written by Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to Mr. Obama, says, according to a copy obtained by The New York Times. “As part of our dedication to protecting America’s youth, this administration supports efforts to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors.”

So much for Obama’s “lame duck” second term.

So, which did you figure will cause the bigger freakout: That he’s speaking against “conversion therapy,” or that the statement was written by Valerie Jarrett?

2 ObserverArt  Apr 8, 2015 5:49:15pm

I like that “so much for Obama’s lame duck second term ” comment.

I said he was the best lame duck president I’ve seen when he announced the outline to the Iranian deal. At least he is out shaking it up, not hiding out licking wounds.

If it came from car cam, them it may show the “struggle” or when Mr Scott “fled” the traffic stop.

Now if this 2nd video does show that type of footage and was released first, you can best believe it would be used to say “any” struggle from Mr Scott would deem it as enough for his murder by this damn cop.

Will the coverage change? Almost certainly.

Now of course the car cam may not show any struggle, but I certainly expect to see, even in “friendly” sources, commentary about “well why did he resist” or “well he does appears to be struggling with the officer”.

If such as tape exists then that is when the shit will hit the fan. I suspect the PD would have already looked for the dash cam video and if it had shown a struggle, I fully expect them to “leak” the footage ala Mike Brown’s cigarello video, but in this case, the family was able to get this video out first.

That may very well have been the plan, hold onto the video in the event that the family sued for wrongful death or there was a public outcry, then “leak” it to the press along with hints that any “struggle” in the video lends weight to the cop’s version of events.

Funny thing is… they are not altogether wrong on the numbers. Just some quick checking, beef comes in at about 2 gallons per calorie (assuming that all the beef on a cow was roast beef), chicken is better at just over 1 gallon per calorie. Lentils come in at about 2 calories per gallon.

But the issue is “so what does that prove?”. That the further up the food chain you go, the more water costs involved? This is one of those talking points that just makes no sense at all to me.

The mayor’s making these statements the same day, IIRC, that the chief of police announced that all interviews are on hold until Scott’s been buried. If anything came out of Ferguson for police departments, I think it was the knowledge that they have to avoid making statements until they settle on a narrative that they feel comfortable defending. In this case, it will likely be that the whole thing was a “tragic mistake,” that Slager only shot Scott because he was “resisting arrest,” and that he acted on his training which is what every officer is expected to do.

Drin is her tribe’s chief huntress; she lives for the thrill of the hunt. Men and sex hold no allure for her, as Drin has never found a partner to satisfy her. When a T-Rex descends upon her village, destroying it, Drin demands that the tribe’s hunters go in search of the beast and slaughter it. Opting for safety instead of revenge, the tribe moves to a new location, hoping that the big beast won’t follow them.

It does.

Drin taunts the beast, giving her tribes mates time to flee. As she runs, leading it through a gauntlet of traps, the thrill of the hunt soars through her blood, leaving her wet with desire. When the angry T-Rex corners the huntress in a box canyon, it seems more interested in her wet womanhood than in her flesh.

Freepers are taking this announcement by POTUS with their usual grace and wit:

They want an ongoing culture war. Once sodomy is legalized, they want homosexual marriage. Once they get that, they want to promote genital mutilation aka transgenderism. There needs to be pushback against perversion.
The Democrats have become a party of perverts and parasites.

I do not see how it is any of Obama’s business. It is a family matter.

Our president sure is fixated on this topic, to the extent he can safely be considered a homosexual activist.
The next question is why.

The left wing homosexual lobby cannot afford to allow conversion therapy, not because it is ineffective, but because they are scared shitless it might just work now and then.
If it does work, it torpedoes their necessary political proposition that sexual orientation is inborn and unchangeable. If it turns out that the homosexual can be led to the straight life, they can no longer claim the right to be a “protected class” like race or sex or national origin.

That is why this is a key issue for homosexual politics.

Yes, it’s far better to treat a psychiatric disorder with physical mutilation.

Why? - well, perhaps they want every qualified deviant available to fill the ranks of the up-and-coming American Sturmabteilung - don’t want any attrition in the ranks, no, or maybe even Obammy is longing for an eventual “change” down the road like what Brucie-poo Jenner has in mind. The possibilities are endless.

What about the ruined lives from homosexuality? What about the tortured souls dealing (silently or not) with the guilt and self-detesting that living with these unnatural same sex attractions has caused?

What about the stories of homosexuals who commit suicide over a relationship gone bad or because they’re so guilty about their lusts that they can’t take it anymore?

It happens, Mr. Obama. And now you want ban a possible avenue of help and relief for them. How very less than loving (AHEM!) of you.

That was profoundly awful. And I liked Twilight.

Funny Twilight story. I was in CA and wound up living through a 5.8 earthquake. Watching the entertainment center in my hotel room bounce off the wall; trying to remember what to do in an earthquake (Tub? Doorframe??) I was terrified.

I was working there and made it through the week, leaving the night before I normally would have, spending the last night at an airport hotel.

I had two glasses of wine at the hotel (a real party for me) and all my freaking out the whole week before - that I kept in check to get through work - came out…I couldn’t stop crying.

All night. All the way to the airport. I cried.

On the flight, I was reading Twilight - and crying. My seat mate, when we started talking, thought it was Twilight that was making me cry.

I burst out laughing and didn’t cry all the way home.

I did, however, spend the next three weeks crying. PTSD or something. I was going to go talk with someone when I started to get better.

That someone could cry from Twilight? Really? The thought still cracks me up.

Cry from the pain, perhaps?

Someone should write an analysis of how the characterization of vampires has changed over the years. Dracula and Nosferatu were evil ghouls who preyed on the innocent. Anne Rice turned them into misunderstood, tortured creatures who just wanted to “fit in” and/or die a normal death. The Twilight series took that one step further and turned them into something teenage girls long for, a kind of “bad boy,” but all sparkly and cute.

Featuring the leading actors from the first two films, Dieter Laser and Laurence R. Harvey, who will play new characters, along with actors from the first two films: Bill Hutchens (Dr. Sebring in Full Sequence) and Peter Blankenstein (Det. Voller in First Sequence and Alan in Full), The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) will be released both theatrically and on video on demand on 22 May 2015.[1]

Plot[edit]
Bully prison warden Bill Boss (Dieter Laser), leading a big state prison in the US of A, has a lot of problems; his prison statistically has the highest amount of prison riots, medical costs and staff turnover in the country. But foremost he is unable to get the respect he thinks he deserves from his inmates and the state Governor (Eric Roberts). He constantly fails in experimenting with different ideas for the ideal punishment to get the inmates in line, which drives him, together with the sizzling heat, completely insane. Under threats of termination by the Governor, his loyal right hand man Dwight (Laurence R. Harvey) comes up with a brilliant idea. A revolutionary idea which could change the American prison system for good and save billions of dollars. An idea based on the notorious Human Centipede movies, that will literally and figuratively get the inmates on their knees, creating the ultimate punishment and deterrent for anyone considering a life of crime. Having nothing to lose, Bill and Dwight create a jaw-dropping 500-person prison centipede.[1]

And back to the Dinosaurs… Brontosaurus is back!!!!

Some of the largest animals to ever walk on Earth were the long-necked, long-tailed dinosaurs known as the sauropods—and the most famous of these giants is probably Brontosaurus, the “thunder lizard.” Deeply rooted as this titan is in the popular imagination, however, for more than a century scientists thought it never existed.

The first of the Brontosaurus genus was named in 1879 by famed paleontologist Othniel Charles Marsh. The specimen still stands on display in the Great Hall of Yale’s Peabody Museum of Natural History. In 1903, however, paleontologist Elmer Riggs found that Brontosaurus was apparently the same as the genus Apatosaurus, which Marsh had first described in 1877. In such cases the rules of scientific nomenclature state that the oldest name has priority, dooming Brontosaurus to another extinction.

Now a new study suggests resurrecting Brontosaurus. It turns out the original Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus fossils appear different enough to belong to separate groups after all. “Generally, Brontosaurus can be distinguished from Apatosaurus most easily by its neck, which is higher and less wide,” says lead study author Emanuel Tschopp, a vertebrate paleontologist at the New University of Lisbon in Portugal. “So although both are very massive and robust animals, Apatosaurus is even more extreme than Brontosaurus.”

Hot on the heels of “Going Clear,” the LA Times has a blockbuster of a story tonight:

Exclusive Scientology head’s father was spied on, police report says

For 18 months [circa 2013, so *recent*] private detectives tracked every move made by the father of David Miscavige, leader of the Church of Scientology, as they eavesdropped, spied on his emails and planted a GPS unit on his car, according to police records.

The church paid the two detectives $10,000 a week through an intermediary, the records indicate, all because Miscavige feared that his father would divulge too much about the organization’s activities.

The episode, detailed in documents obtained by the Los Angeles Times, is the latest in a decades-long series of allegations that the church has intimidated, harassed or abused current and former members, at times going to great lengths to dissuade them from discussing their experiences or knowledge of the secretive religion.

Mine was a 5.4, and I was on the fifth floor of an 8 story building. :) But I wasn’t too close to the epicenter, and that also helps.

The 6.0 up in Napa earlier this year/late last year was just barely a teeny little tremble by the time it made it down here. Just enough to make the shower door rattle.

A 3.0 you can generally barely feel it. In my experience. We had a 2.9 about two weeks ago that I felt mostly because I was in bed but not asleep yet. Didn’t even rate shaking the shower door.

Well Charles, this will likely be the next wingnut talking point about the Scott murder:

“This is the great thing about that horrible, horrible tape, and why it’s necessary that cameras are everywhere: I didn’t see a black man killed by a white cop; I saw a man shoot another man in the back,” he said. “I saw an actual act. You can’t theorize, you can’t come up with hypotheticals. You actually see that.”

*snip*

Unlike talking heads like us or activists, the camera sees more than color,” Gutfeld said on Wednesday. “The camera captures the actual incident — an incident that in my view, cannot be justified. What I saw there, it’s just unbelievable [that] you would shoot somebody as they’re moving away from you and then supposedly, perhaps, planting evidence to make it look like you were justified.”

The first earthquake I ever felt was at Ft. Ord in Monterey CA. I got there after being stationed for a year on the southern tip of the Sinai, and the trailers that we were in used to rock back and forth a bit when the winds blew hard.

Cut to California, a 4 story masonry barracks. I wake up about 3 am, things are rocking back and forth and I think “Man, the wind must really be blowing to move this building” and fall right back asleep. It wasn’t until the morning that I figured out what had really happened.

It’s a weird and scary feeling when terra firma isn’t so firma any more.

My biggest quake was a 6.8, it lasted 45 seconds and I was in the top floor of a brick building built in 1906. I was genuinely askerred.

re: #179 klys (maker of Silmarils)

I was in a 5.8 near the epicenter. The whole building was shaking. I thought the entertainment center was going to topple over. It was literally bouncing off the wall. I had visions of the building collapsing.

My original hotel (I changed when I found they didn’t have smoking rooms when I was checking in) broke a water main and was uninhabitable.

I’ve never been more frightened in my entire life.

I love Cali. I dream of living there. I also now have a mental preparedness for the ground shaking my ass all over the place, something I did not have before. Plus, I now know what we’re supposed to do in an earthquake. I was unsure and scared when it happened because I didn’t possess the knowledge to help me survive. And that scared me as much as the building shaking.

I’ve lived nearly all my life on the Ring of Fire so I’ve been through enough quakes to take them in stride. My favorite earthquake story:

When I was seven or eight years old, we were stationed in Vallejo, California. My mom would watch Jack Lalanne, who was then broadcast live from Oakland, every afternoon. One afternoon I was watching with her and the greater Bay Area gave one hell of a good long shake. Lalanne, his two German Shepherds and, apparently, the crew all just booked. We were treated to a few minutes’ viewing of an abandoned set. Mom and I cracked up.

Good times.

I always joked about that. After a quake, the local TV would always interview tourists who were freaking out. The locals would always be like “Its over. Now we need to clean up, so could you get out of the way?”

What really impresses me is the warning system the Japanese have put together for quakes.

Tsunami too, although as 2011 showed they could still be taken by surprise by how high the waves could be.

Their warning alert noises are much prettier than the buzzer for the prototype system here in CA.

I’m sure that there will be RW push back to the Walter Scott video. However, the first video shows that the cops blatantly lied in their report. It shows what appears to be the police officer planting evidence. And the officer has been charged.

It’s still a far cry from a conviction, but the RW is going to have a helluva time getting back in front of the narrative.

I’m surprised that more hasn’t been done sooner about early warning. We were stationed at Yokosuka, Japan, during the early Fifties and though we didn’t get earthquake alerts we did get tsunami warnings. The Navy and Marines would send out every available vehicle and the drill was that you simply jumped on or in the first one by. We youngsters were under strict instructions to not wait for our moms and to not try to go home first, just go. They’d all gather at various places on higher ground. Sometimes we’d be reunited, sometimes we wouldn’t until the alert was over and we all went back down.

Wisconsin GOP members on land board ban work on climate change

A Wisconsin state board made up of elected officials voted 2-1 Tuesday to ban staff members of a small agency from on-the-job discussion or work related to climate change.

Staffers for the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands had already removed a reference to climate change from its website in response to previous complaints by one board member, state Treasurer Matt Adamczyk.

Adamczyk is a Republican who recently sought to dismiss board executive secretary Tia Nelson from her post after learning she served as a co-chairwoman on former Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle’s global warming task force in 2007 and 2008.

BREAKING (from 2013): #WalterScott called for violence against George Zimmerman, just like @ChuckCJohnson did against #Tsarnaev

gotnwes.com can confirm the authenticity of a violent, anti-Dzhokhar Tsarnaev tweet by GotNewsDotCom’s editor-in-thief Chuck C. Johnson. See the screencap above.

Ironically, Johnson that same day published an article condemning police shooting victim Walter Scott for suggesting (in 2013) that the parents of Trayvon Martin shoot George Zimmerman in the head. Zimmerman was charged with fatally shooting Martin on Feb. 26, 2012, but was later acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter.

Tonight in 40k trivia:

The Savlar Chem Dogs

“You can keep that, mate! Won’t fetch me more than a few credits on the market anyway. All this death-and-glory crap isn’t really my business. I’m in it for the loot.”

— Sergeant Joto of the XXII Savlar upon receiving a medal for bravery after the bloodbath at Trenia

The Savlar Chem-Dogs are Penal Legion regiments that serve within the Imperial Guard. They draw their recruits from the prisons on the inhospitable penal world of Savlar by the promise that they will be allowed to keep anything they take from the battlefield, as well as the chance to get away from Savlar’s highly toxic environment. Though these Guard regiments are primarily composed of immoral, desperate cut-throats, they have been forged into an effective fighting force, and are some of the most hard-bitten, tenacious and outright dirty fighters in the Imperium of Man.

And when I confronted the RWNJ’s making those claims, instead suggesting the case is totally legit and may actually be motivated by the police officer getting silly notions by the populist policies of local and state government, I got this response:

This is CSI 101. Never disturb the evidence where it lay. He was actively tampering with the crime scene. CSI would have indicated where each piece of relevant evidence was found - whether it was shell casings or bullet fragments, or a taser - marked, identified, photographed, collected, and preserved for study in the course of the forensic evidence in the lab (checking fingerprints, etc.)

By touching that evidence without so much as proper gear, he contaminated the item he moved, which is the opposite of preserving it.

If he was concerned about making sure it was preserved, he would have left it where it fell - identified it to the investigators, and left it at that.

Chuckles is a bloviating moron, but I repeat myself for insinuating that the officer was preserving evidence in this fashion. The officer was tampering with the crime scene and the video caught him not only shooting Walter Scott in the back 8 times, but tampering with the very evidence relating to the shooting.

Good morning Lizards. Another cool and drizzly day in Philadelphia. Weather expected to improve over the weekend while I take my short trip down to Virginia to confirm that the rebs actually surrendered. (j/k)

Since the official reason for the trip is done on Saturday I have Sunday and Monday to get back to Philly. Taking advantage of this to do some non-interstate driving, go visit Norfolk, and then come home via eastern Maryland and the shore. Hopefully some nice photo opportunities - and not too many places where I grind my teeth because the telephoto lens I ordered has not turned up yet.

Possible reasons to have to get married:

Alara worked at a supermarket and Christie worked as a tutor — until they discovered how lucrative erotic fiction about women having sex with dinosaurs could be. After e-book titles like Taken By the T-Rex and Ravished by the Triceratops drew attention from Jezebel, E!, and the Daily Mail, we e-mailed the duo to ask how they’re holding up, and how two Texan girls in their early twenties got into dinosaur porn.

With Alara at the keyboard (“Christie made me do it because she is too lazy”), the college students explained.

No, but really, if there’s one silver lining to Schumer’s move, it’s that it alerted more people to the important role Senate Democrats will be playing in the coming weeks. Some of the biggest progressive groups in the country — Credo, Daily Kos, Democracy for America, moveon.org Political Action, and USAction — sent a letter to Senate Democrats Wednesday to “inform” them that they raise a lot of money and they will “hold accountable members of your caucus who vote with Republicans” on either Corker-Menendez or Kirk-Menendez, the bill that would dangle a new round of sanctions over Iran’s head.

It is an article of faith among homophobes that gays propagate by aggressive recruiting. It is no coincidence that the Russian derogatory term for gay is “pederast”, implying that they seduce young children into gayghood.

It’s easy to be insecure about something that you’ve been raised to fear and consider shameful.

My own sex ed was non-existent. Mom didn’t talk about it except to tell me that only married people did it. My ex-stepdad would’ve rather had a lobotomy than talk to me about sex, and any other relatives would’ve just told me to ask my mother. When I got my first period, I got some pamphlets from the school nurse and some pads. Mom wouldn’t even buy tampons since she thought they were only for married women.

At least I didn’t have the religious fundamentalist shit poisoning my brain at the same time. That would have been intolerable. It took many years of reading, mistakes, and life experience to even start figuring out sex. I can’t imagine how I would’ve turned out if I’d been raised with the Pat Robertson mindset.

Sounds like the sex ed in most of China. My students tell me their middle school teachers, when teaching the mandatory health classes, would avoid the sex discussions entirely and just tell the kids to read the book on their own.

And yes, there is a problem with teenage pregnancies here, and forced marriages, especially among kids not college-bound.

Once Chinese are married, they get read the riot act about family planning because of the one-child policy in force for most Chinese. But before marriage, it’s mostly trial and error.

Rand’s not a real libertarian. However, the biggest problem with the ideology is the lack of desire of Libertarians to actually look at how a real society operates and functions. It’s related to how von Mises/Austrian school economic subscribers ignore real life data at the expense of the theory. In that way, they are a lot like diehard Marxists.

My mother has always been weirdly rigid about some things, totally lax in others. She wouldn’t talk to me about sex, objected to some of the song lyrics I’d listen to on the radio, and she pretty much invented the concept of helicopter parenting, but if she knew where I was and who I was with, she would be fine. I dated a 20-year old in college in my junior year of high school, but since I’d met him through Model UN, it was okay.

Sex, OTOH, was something I wasn’t supposed to think about until my wedding night. She was very sheltering that way. Hell, my dad was the one who had to teach her, since she didn’t get any education from her parents either.

Maybe someone already brought it up, but the best part of him moving the evidence is that it compromises what will presumably be his defense—he was going for my taser/he got a hold of my taser.

The purpose of the eight large flags isn’t to antagonize drivers on nearby Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, but to increase the memorial’s visibility from neighboring Interstate 10. According to a flyer seeking donations, “your support will enable passengers in over 55,000 cars per day see Confederate Flags flying proudly in the Texas breeze.”

David Moore, Lieutenant Division Commander of the Texas Sons of Confederate Veterans, told the Post that the flag shouldn’t be seen as a symbol of slavery, because the Civil War was actually fought over state’s rights, and the South only joined in the fight after it was “invaded by Northern troops.”

Let’s take a quick look at the moral and legal aspects of the 10 commandments.

1. “I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

Morally irrelevant, believing or disbelieving in God or being a mono- or a polytheist doesn’t make a person better or worse.

Legally this won’t fly in any modern democracy. You can’t legislate belief.

2. “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image”

Morally irrelevant, legally impossible in any democracy.

3. “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.”

Same.

4. “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy”

Same.

5. “Honour thy father and thy mother”

Morally relevant, but with lots of exceptions. Unacceptable as formulated.
Legally impossible.

6. “Thou shalt not murder”

Necessary both from the moral and the legal standpoint.

7. “Thou shalt not commit adultery”

Morally: unacceptable as formulated, people in open marriages are free to commit “adultery”, it’s not cheating. Also, the original Hebrew word seems to put this restriction specifically on the married woman. If so, this is also sexist.

Legally this can only have repercussions for divorce proceedings. Obviously, no one should be criminally punished for adultery.

8. “Thou shalt not steal”

Necessary both from the moral and the legal standpoint.

9. “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour”

Unacceptable as formulated. A better way would have been: “You shalt not lie, unless telling the truth is worse than lying in a given situation”.

As such, the commandment is limited to lies about “thy neighbor” only. Is it thus permissible to lie about a stranger, or in other situations not involving your neighbor/fellow?

10. “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.”

A thoughtcrime is not legally punishable, so covet all you want.

Morally this is ambiguous, since a lust for something that you don’t have may lead to bad consequences, but may also drive you to do something positive for yourself.

So that’s two commandments out of 10, stealing and murder, and those are pretty much universal.

Have to get married?

Possible reasons to have to get married:

1) kid born out of wedlock (aka the shotgun wedding);
2) necessity of health/insurance benefits (aka one person needs health or insurance benefits of the other for treatment/care).

And of those, #2 could apply to anyone, regardless of SSM or not.

This means lying in a way that is injurious to your neighbor, something that is covered under statutes against libel, perjury or fraud.

While Netflix hasn’t announced a specific time for Daredevil to appear on its streaming service, it’s common premieres on Netflix happen after midnight on the scheduled release date. And it’s normally at 3:01 a.m. EST so that those on the West Coast get it at the same time as the East Coast.

But my thinking does still hold. Now that I see the debates are so early, Rand will be exposed even more this year. So, I will stick with my original post that he will be out by year’s end, maybe January. That will be 5-6 debates in, if that long.

Even American Conservative agrees with that assessment.

Not really. That’s your interpretation, not necessarily those of others.

Also, for the words to mean something there must be a situation in which there are also non-neighbors against which you can testify. Otherwise one may as well omit the words as unnecessary. Hence the commandment as it is formulated is unacceptable.

What Our Brains Can Teach Us About How People Justify Killing

thinkprogress.org

“New brain research may offer some insight into a topic of great debate: how humans justify the use of deadly force in certain situations.

“The study, published in the journal Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, centered on a group of subjects who played video games in which they shot innocent civilians, a situation that may be considered “unjustified,” and enemy soldiers, a situation that’s considered more “justified.” During the activities, scientists measured participants’ brain activity via functional magnetic resonance imaging.

“Researchers found that the neural systems that activate when one harms others show less vigor when that person believes the killing is justified. Dr. Pascal Molenberghs of Monash University in Melbourne said that these findings could pave the way for further study into how certain groups — including soldiers and police officers — become desensitized to violence, particularly when views about the victim and perpetrator are brought into question.” More

Also interesting:

“Research that uses video games to investigate bigger questions about people’s violent nature is quite controversial, especially when it attempts to examine a potential cause-and-effect relationship between gaming and violence. The new brain scan study comes on the heels of other research that dispelled notions that violent video games cause violent crime and “moral immaturity.” A study conducted at the University of Oxford examined the effects of various games and the length of time spent using video game consoles, and found that the time spent playing games had a greater impact than the type of games played.” my emphasis
