Video: Rand Paul on Meet the Chuck

Ducking, dodging and weaseling, and Chuck Todd doesn’t call him on anything

MSNBC

If this weren’t Chuck Todd, I might be surprised that he doesn’t even bring up some of the really problematic things about Rand Paul — for example, his close friendship with the craziest conspiracy theorist in America, Alex Jones, or his statement that he wouldn’t have voted for the Civil Rights Act. But it’s fascinating to watch the pseudo-libertarian spinning and revising his earlier positions to move toward the far right.

Perhaps my favorite moment is when he says Hillary Clinton should be “calling for a boycott of Saudi Arabia,” then dodges the question of whether he would do that himself.

“There are a number of threats around the world.”

Brilliant. Incisive.

Alongside questioning Hillary’s “trustworthiness,” I imagine another thing we’ll hear again and again from Republicans is “If she believes A, then she should be doing B,” without actually saying if they’d do B or proposing a C that’s a better solution.

Rand Paul and his rat toupee were making the rounds on the Sunday Talking shows and of course went full-tilt BENGHAZI!!!!

Rand Paul Repeats Debunked Benghazi Lies To Attack Hillary Clinton

I can’t wait to rehash Whitewater, Vince Foster, and cattle futures. The Original Benghazis.

12 BigPapa  Apr 12, 2015 12:14:46pm

Back when I thought I might be conservative Limbaugh’s obsession with WWFF (White Water, Foster, Futures) is the first sign that conservatism wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be. Didn’t really press it for years after.

But serious CDS was over the top in the early 90’s. Before the internet. Now we have CDS 2.0 on a low simmer for several years and now it’s about to go full boil.

Not looking forward to it.

I found myself staring at that ‘rat’ wondering WTF is that? No matter what, the rat kept my attention.

Rand, Not so much.

Oh yeah, and that great big RAND logo sign out there off the hotel (?) balcony view. Nice cheap touch there Rand. You go guy.

I’d be afraid to buy a used car off Rand Paul.

Ordinarily the critics time would be split among a slate of candidates on the left. They now enjoy the advantage of focusing on her all along. Yeesh might just cut my cable after all.

Amber Liberty Girl is not voting for Hilary because she lied about Watergate.

Damn. I hope that is a joke tweet. But I fear it is real.

Benghazi is pointless, but at least it relates to Hillary. I’m not fond of David Mizner, but he makes what I think is a valid statement in his DK diary about criticizing Hillary without being sexist:

Sexist: Pointing to her husband’s neoliberal record as if it’s hers
Not Sexist: Pointing to her own neoliberal record

The upside, at least in my opinion, is it also means people will get tired of that shit pretty quick. How many weeks do you think her critics can devote to these nothingburgers before voters start tuning them out?

The flame in the Rand logo does nothing else but remind me of the rat on top of his head.

Is anyone really surprised that Upchuck Todd isn’t even pretending to be a journalist any longer?

22 JEA62  Apr 14, 2015 5:05:18pm

Chuck Todd is to journalism what Roy Rodgers is to comedy.
