Still surprises me this all starts a year and a half before the event. Of the candidates I’ve seen I’d say Hillary is the best in the pack so far.

I know we have some graphic arts types around here. What do you all think of the H> Logo for Hillary?

First thing I thought of…it points right. Interesting. Also, would be a good healthcare related logo. Maybe it will be. Very simple logo and gets away from the American Flag, Eagle stuff. More iconic like for phone app and desktop icons. Not sure overall.

Rose Law. Cattlegate. Travelgate. And it goes on from there.

You cannot get the stain of having worked at the Rose law firm out. You cannot ever explain how you beat odds of trillions to one against, to have a string of winning day-trades in cattle futures, a business about which Hillary never knew anything. You cannot escape the odium of having tried to get people punished on frameup evidence, just because it would be convenient to you to have them out of the way.

Hillary is utterly unfit for any office of trust in this country. Far less, for the presidency.

66 Charles Johnson  Apr 12, 2015 1:06:43pm

What’s more - I don’t think most advertisers will ever start making their ads useable with HTTPS, because websites that run under SSL don’t provide the kind of metrics and server/OS information that they rely on to track users.

The people calling for the whole web to run under SSL are living in a dream world. It’s not going to happen.

Mook is widely known as Robby, not Robert, and at 35, he’s still boyish—handsome and clean-shaven with close-cropped brown hair. His usual uniform consists of chinos and bland dress shirts rolled up to the elbows. He couldn’t be more different from, say, James Carville, the loudmouth Ragin’ Cajun who advised Bill Clinton’s first presidential bid and now makes a living as a consultant and TV commentator. Mook rarely appears in news stories or on TV. He did not respond to repeated interview requests. He has no Facebook page. He has a Twitter account but never tweets and has forgotten the password. Mook, who will be the first openly gay manager of a major presidential campaign, is largely unknown beyond the insular world of Democratic staffers but well liked within it. In addition to the email listserv, his loyal following—the Mook Mafia—plans yearly reunions, during which they return to a state where they once operated for a weekend of bar-hopping mixed with volunteering for a local campaign.

It’s not surprising that Reince Priebus would focus on “decades” of assorted “scandals” and other unproven allegations. He knows that the RWNJs of the base have notably long if defective memories.
A case in point is this freeper post for the anniversary of FDR’s death in 1945. New Deal Derangement Syndrome is still very strong with this mob.

I read the account of a US navy ship then at sea:

When they got the news of FDR’s death via radio, the entire crew of the ship exploded with raucous cheering and deliriously happy laughter.

Really amazing.

(To anyone who knows anything about that period, or about the Navy for that matter, there is not a snowball’s chance in hell that this is true.)

He should have died at the hands of Giuseppe Zangara.
America would be a better place today.

(Zangara was the assassin who shot at then president elect FDR in Miami in 1933. FDR was not hit but Chicago mayor Anton Cermak was killed and 4 others wounded.)

“Why would Hillary pick this date to announce her candidacy? Another death in the Democrat party?”
“If she waited until next weekend, her announcement would go unnoticed by her closest supporters due to celebrations of the Waco slaughter and preparations for Lenin’s birthday.”

To these people Whitewater is a current issue while Benghazi is happening as we speak.

Don’t have to go too far to see examples of that. Look at Romney, who the GOP tried to play up as this great businessman when Bain Capital acted as little more than a chop shop, making money whether it turned companies into successes or it broke them up and sold off the parts for profit.

Not a crop job, twitter crops automatically (click on the image), but a very good point nevertheless. A cut off arrow would be a bit more specific than just a red arrow. As such, the complaint is even more laughable.

I wonder who will rake in more cash today—Hillary, on her campaign announcement or upchuck, on his big campaign (which, at one point he said was complete and just waiting for the right monetizing moment, then later said he needs many $$ to hire “private eyes” and analysts, etc.) and which he now says has begun but needs many $$ to continue. The proportions are different, the color is red, but of a different shade. The form is different (stripes). They point in the same direction, but a “forward” arrow can point only from left to right, horizontally or diagonally. Not much wiggle room. The arrow fits the H design elegantly, while the Wikileaks moronic logo it looks like some mosaic of unrelated fragments.

Even if HIlary wins. I predict a high chance congress will remain divided. Clinton as President with a GOP Senate and House would put her in the same position as Obama, having to veto all the stuff the GOP tries to pass and put up with their continued efforts to undermine the Presidency.

Mitt Romney might have lost in 2012, but the Dems didn’t pick up enough momentum to keep the legislature (in fact they LOST ground to the GOP in both the House and Senate). The Dems haven’t made siginificant progress in either chamber since 2008. In fact, since Obama was elected they’ve been slowly giving up seats in both. I’m not sure how strongly I feel about the odds of 2016 being able to break that streak.

The thinking was all the far right stuff the GOP did would hurt them in 2012 and 2014, but that didn’t happen.

Because of the gerrymandering the Republicans pulled in 2010. The Democrats will probably regain the senate in 2016. The House is going to require some significant votes, or the districts in states get challenged and redrawn.

Privatize Social Security—check
End Obamacare—check
Go to war with just about any country we can find on a map—check
Eliminate inheritance taxes, capital gains taxes—check
Lower corporate taxes—check
Eliminate any and all regulations on businesses—check
Increase fossil fuel use/eliminate any alternative energy programs—check

Good afternoon Lizards!

Sitting here in a hotel room in Norfolk, VA. Drove over this morning from Richmond, toured a battleship, then spent a chunk of the afternoon walking around the Norfolk Botanical Gardens*.

Off to dinner shortly. Tomorrow’s plan is a return to Philadelphia, but avoiding interstates initially by crossing Hampton Roads and going up the Maryland eastern shore. See if there are interesting things to photograph and also probably stop and take a beach walk if the weather cooperates.

* - Lots of photos taken. The camellias were in bloom and there was also a winter orchid display in the tropical flower area.

What makes Hillary fun to watch for me is she is really a strong candidate and so she will have some attraction to female Republicans and the wide block of female independent/undecideds. I do not think that is being considered much, but I do believe inside those little voting booth curtains all assumptions will be off.

If they attack her too much, the Karl Rove types face attacking Republican women that might be a bit more vocal about some women’s issues due to Hillary. So, if that forces the hand of the Republicans on women’s issues then it works politically.

But I suspect some of the right’s crazier rhetoric is still going to cost them women’s votes anyway. Hillary will just help draw more.

re: #146 Eclectic Cyborg

the difference is that there a a lot of white women who will side with and support and vote for H Clinton despite the right wing vitriol they constantly hear from their husbands. As it stands now, Obama being black is an automatic enemy of many whites in Red states including women because of engrained, institutionalized racism. That aspect will not be a part of the equation in 2016 and we might see a surprising turnout in voting from swing states in favor of Clinton.
