So, the panel on Lawrence O’Donnell (which I usually don’t watch, but woke up early, meh) was saying Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush were alike?

What planet are they living on?

GotNwes has awakened from its long slumber and published a scorcher of a story.

EXCLUSIVE: Marco Rubio not The One, waffles like politician on immigration amnesty

Having determined that only Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Alberta) can be The One, GotNwes finds fault with the waffling of another Republican Cuban-American, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), on immigration reform.

Digging through our notes from 2013, we exclusively (other than those dozens of other media outlets) have found that Rubio has made conflicting statements about amnesty for illegal immigrants. Surely no other politician in the history of mankind has done such a thing.

The street signs suddenly went from English to Arabic. There wasn’t a single English word on any shop or any street sign. And in fact, these little yellow signs were posted all along the edges. Jeremy said to me, ‘this is it. We don’t go past this line.’ And I said to Jeremy, ‘what do you mean? You guys are Detroit Metro. You’re the SWAT team. You can go anywhere you want. What if you get a call over there?’ He said ‘this is it, it’s hazardous for our team if we go past this line.’

I have seen it with my own eyes, witnessed it in the backseat of a car and it is for real. No-go zones exist in the United States.

Dearborn, Michigan is not the only place that these settlements exist. They are spread out over the country in various cities. There’s an estimate of over 5,000 known terrorist cells in the United States. However our most persistent and significant threat, right now, to us here today this morning, is the homegrown violent extremists.

Blue Angels pilot breaks sound, gender barriers

“I saw the Blue Angels fly when I was a young kid,” Marine Corps Capt. Katie Higgins said. “I was definitely inspired by that.”

Higgins is a third-generation military aviator and the first female pilot in the team’s 69-year history.

“My dad was an A-7 pilot initially, and then he transferred to the F-18 Hornet, which is actually out here on the line,” Higgins said. “It’s a great family legacy to have, that’s for sure.”

Now, she’s providing the inspiration.

“I think by including a lady on the team, that just shows little girls and guys that women can do whatever they put their mind to,” Higgins said. “Little girls have told me that they didn’t even know that ladies could fly aircraft, that women could be in the cockpit.”

Good morning Lizards form sunny (or partly sunny) Philadelphia. Shaping up to be a nice day outside after yesterday’s rain.

Tuxedo cat got herself locked into the pantry last night, probably about 9pm. I started looking for her about midnight when I went to bed and realized that things had been *too* peaceful that evening. Took about 20 minutes before I heard her scratching at the pantry door. I then had a *peeved* cat to deal with for another half hour. (She came out of the pantry, got a drink of water, and then immediately hissed at and attacked Chat Noir as if it was his fault she got stuck in there.)

Also, any particular requests for photo postings this evening when I get home? I have more stuff from Norfolk (USS Wisconsin, Botanical Garden), a few from around the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond, plane pictures from the Virginia Aviation Museum, and finally a few from along the coast in Delaware - rocks, shore, and coastal artillery stuff from the former Fort Miles. The Botanical Garden stuff is a lot of orchid photos, a few more bonsai, and then various things that were blooming at the time like camellias.

Shall not be denied is pretty straight forward language. I don’t even agree with a felon, after serving their time, not having the right to vote.

At risk of bad form. I sure hope this incident gets top billing here later.

I think if we looked at police rules, using the car on a person is something for never ever or maybe under fire. But a total run down from the back? What the hell happened to all the usual measures to deal with a stolen gun suspect?

The predictable occurs: more pregnancies, STDs, not to mention fucked-up psychological issues.

Seriously. The only pressing deadline I had when I woke up this morning was making sure to finish filing my taxes, which I did. That’s it. Aside from that, I walked into the office knowing that all I had to do was compile my daily report for this same client. NO advance warning about any meetings with their boss, nada. I walk in, fire up my work email and that’s the first thing I see. Asking for clarity gets him telling me that they need EVERYTHING I’ve sent to them compiled into a high level report ASAP because they’re meeting with the boss in two hours.

No. FUCK no. Fuck you. I’ve done my job and done all of the stats compilations and daily reports I’m supposed to do. I’ve put ads up online at 10pm when you write and tell me that they need to go up immediately. But there is a limit. I can’t compile a full report of all activity across the board for the last month in two hours. That takes a day, if not longer, and that’s if I ONLY focus on this client to the exclusion of everything else. Not going to happen. Ever.

But with the passage of the “Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act,” Congress will take a very significant step toward legitimating that structure. By passing the bill, Congress will explicitly concede both that the president has the authority to unilaterally waive sanctions “wholesale,” and that it expects him to do so. By setting up the review structure, Congress admits that unilateral presidential moves are not only be effective, but legitimate, as long as the president can sustain the support of 34 senators. Well, that’s kind of a class assumption: That only the well-off can be ‘eccentric’ while the poor are just nuts. OTOH, I’ve known a lot of eccentrics who had very little money. : ) After all, eccentrics are generally not harmful at all, but crazy can be dangerous.

Christie: ‘If I Run, I Will Beat’ Clinton

WASHINGTON (CBS DC) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Tuesday that if he runs for president he will defeat Hillary Clinton, particularly by winning votes in several blue states that Mitt Romney couldn’t capture in his 2012 loss to President Barack Obama.

Speaking with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Christie said of Clinton, “If I run, I will beat her.”

The potential Republican candidate listed Pennsylvania, New Mexico and New Hampshire as states won by Obama in 2012 that he could bring back into GOP hands. Christie also blasted legalized marijuana in Washington state, Colorado and the District of Columbia, saying if he is elected president he will “not permit it.”

“And I’m serious because I asked myself, ‘Which party has helped me out the most in the last, I don’t know, 15 years, 20?’ And it was the Democrat [SIC] Party,” Webb lamented. “If it wasn’t for Obama and that Obamacare, I would still be working.”

“With Obamacare, I got to retire at age 50 because if it wasn’t for Obamacare, I would have had to work until I was 65 and get on Medicare because health insurance is expensive when you’ve got medical problems,” he continued.

Webb said that he hoped to lose some weight and get in shape by taking advantage of a gym membership that was covered by his health insurance.

“But you know, the Republican Party, they haven’t done nothing for me, man. Nothing,” he remarked. “So, I’m leaning toward voting for Hillary unless something major comes up. I don’t trust the Republicans anymore because they’re wanting to repeal the Obamacare. And I don’t want them to do that, man, because then I’ll have to go to work again. My life’s already planned out.”

I don’t think that will go over very well in the purple state of Colorado. Even people who opposed legalization will be taken aback at the idea of Washington overriding the voters of Colorado.

My kids are 10 and 11. They came home yesterday with notice that they will have a maturation class next week. If you don’t want your kids to go, you have to sign it. I’m thankful for things like this. Of course I’m going to explain changes to their body and, in the future, sex. But, it’s good to have my bases covered. And for those parents who want to keep their kids in the dark, they can (hopefully) get the answers they need.

Ayep, how nice it must be to believe that, in 40+ years, you’ll never face a time when you’ll have no steady source of income and have to draw on your savings to get by. Does she also plan not to get married, have any kids, buy a home, buy a new car, or in any way take on potential debt that she will have to pay off regardless of whether she’s working or not?

I had one of those “If you kept your taxes, you could afford retirement through savings/investments!” wingnuts try to sell me on the idea a couple years ago. After the usual back and forth about how investments over so many years average out to a net gain and so forth, I pointed out the flaw in his plan. Unless employers specifically point out the money now in your paycheck due to payroll taxes disappearing, people aren’t going to make the connection. They’re just gonna see more money in their paycheck, assume they either got a raise or had a good pay period, and spend it because they assume the government will take care of it. So you’re gonna get a generation or two who get to retirement with no savings, no safety net, and no means of providing for themselves besides working til the day they die or relying upon family to support them.

He then tried to insist that people would just need to put that money into guaranteed savings, it would totally be there. I asked him how he could be sure that people would put the money there and guarantee it would stay there rather than being spent to cover rough periods.

He rather quickly changed the subject.
