Newsweek Reports on the Growing Alliance Between Netanyahu’s Likud Party and Europe’s Anti-Semitic Far Right

The disturbing acceptance of European hate groups in Israeli politics
World • Views: 38,669

Long-time readers of LGF will recognize many of the names of people and organizations called out in this piece by Charles Hawley; these are the very fascists and antisemites who made alliances with American “counter-jihad” groups years ago, leading me to make a clean break with them and their hateful agenda. (Click on any of the tags below this post for more information on this back story.)

For the past few years I’ve been watching in horror as Israeli political parties like Likud increasingly embrace these awful people: Netanyahu’s Unholy Alliance With Europe’s ‘Anti-Semitic’ Far Right.

But one growing faction in Europe is welcoming Benjamin Netanyahu and his re-election with open arms. On the ultra-conservative periphery, among the xenophobic, nativist fringe, right-wing populists are unabashedly rejoicing. For them, Europe is engaged in a battle against encroaching Islam - and the hardliner Netanyahu, they believe, is doing yeoman’s work on the front lines. “Benjamin Netanyahu’s victory is a good thing for several reasons,” Geert Wilders, the vociferous anti-Islam incendiary from the Netherlands, said in an emailed statement. “We share his criticism of Iran … and his opposition to a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria.”

“We are very happy,” agrees Filip Dewinter, a leading member of Belgian right-wing party Vlaams Belang. “It is a good thing for Israel, but also good for right-wing parties in Europe because he understands that the first danger for Europe is Islamisation.” David Lasar, a foreign policy co-ordinator for the Austrian Freedom Party, echoed that sentiment. “For sure, I am very happy,” says Lasar, who has worked hard in recent years to develop ties with staunchly conservative parties overseas. “It is a very important step that Netanyahu has won the election.”

From the perspective of a European chauvinistic periphery that has increasingly been striving for mainstream legitimacy in the recent past, the enthusiasm is understandable. As groups like the Austrian Freedom Party, France’s Front National and the Swedish Democrats have long histories of anti-Semitism, recent years have seen them attempting to refocus their enmity on Islam and Islamists. With that shift has come a recognition that Israeli conservatives, with their rejection of a Palestinian state and hardline approach to Islamism, are their natural allies.

Modern inventions break down walls between nations.

For nationalists that is a bad thing, the loss of identity.

Reaction against modernity is taking many forms.

I’m not going to accuse the hard right Christians in America of anti-Semitism but what they expect and pray for to happen to Israel should give any sane Israeli pause too.

So regardless of where their money comes from, I suppose welfare recipients couldn’t use swimming pools or go to movies or whatever, because there’s no way to prove that that money didn’t come from their benefits? They’d be guilty of commingling?

When I was living in my car back in 1990/1, it was a real godsend that I could go to the local pool and use the shower for 50¢—of course, I had no welfare benefits to spend on that, but man, this is really petty shit.

That’s pure and simple segregation. Totally.

As a child I remember Charlotte’s pools were segregated but de-segregated, finally, in the early 70s. Naturally, whites stopped using them (as if they’d get cooties) and whites continued to use a commercial public pool until it shut down for lack of customers when people started putting pools (esp the “above-ground” types) in their back yards.

That cat was very likely the pet cat of her neighbors who had been looking for him. But even if feral, this is inexcusable as well as criminal. That she’s a vet who was proud of her “accomplishment” is unconscionable and deserving of loss of license to ever practice again anywhere and in any capacity.

Many conservatives in Israel now see the European right wing as being the only reliable partner on a continent where, they say, anti-Semitism has become rooted in the political mainstream.

Can they really be so stupid as to believe that the European far-right has had some sort of epiphany and is no longer antisemitic at its core? *smh*

Rathdrum woman gains national attention for stance on child support bill

khq.com

RATHDRUM, Idaho -
Governor Butch Otter is setting the ground work for a special session to address Idaho’s Child Support Program. Legislators voted to table Senate Bill 1067, just before the session was adjourned, because they felt language in the legislation would open the doors for Sharia law in Idaho. The bill, if passed, would have brought Idaho to federal standards when it comes to child support enforcement laws. Now, legislators have 60 days to comply with federal law or risk losing $16 million in federal funding.

“The tabling of the bill has sparked outrage across the state with one woman gaining national recognition. A letter on Facebook, written by Taryn Thompson of Rathdrum, was recently recognized by the New York Times for her stance on this issue.

“I just couldn’t keep my mouth shut,” says Thompson. “I had to speak up.” More

the very cynical nature of the Israeli hard right is being exposed now.

Along with the more neo-Nazi Euro far right groups, Likud also lubs them some Evangelical Americans with hard right Fundamentalist Christian views. These views usually involving a “love” for Jews and Israel with an affection that extends only as far as how the Jews can be fit into the bizarre Jesus-with-an-M16 End-Times Rapture fantasy concocted over the past 50 years or so. Of course, after said Rapture and Apocalyptic Christian- army-ill ‘em all orgasm the Jews will be thrown into the pit of Hell, so who cares about alliances with neo-Nazis after all that?

re: #130 Charles Johnson

Definitely sounds like a ruse.

I found a site with lots of Breivik’s letters written to various neo-Nazis (e.g. to Beate Zschäpe). In a 05.07.12 letter to an unnamed Russian neo-Nazi he writes in accordance with the “manifesto”:

All Asian, Africans and Southern Europeans who are defined as disloyal towards the interests of the indigenous peoples (Nordics) should be deported. All jews who are disloyal towards the interests of the indigenous peoples (Nordics) should be deported. In reality, this will mean that more than 80% of them will be deported. However, I do support Israel’s struggle against Jihad. We should not forget that there is a minority of Israeli Jews (20%) that shares our ideology of ethnocentric nationalism and they too want to deport the disloyal foreigners from their country. So no, I’m not a “Zionist”. And is it true that I am against National Socialism? Well, yes. But this means that I am against the 20% of the negative policies of National Socialism; the expansionistic nature (I’m an isolationist) and the anti-semitic nature (I’m not against all Jews, only against the disloyal Jews which make out approximately 80%), and the anti-Christian nature (I believe Christendom can be reformed into an ethnocentric militant Christendom somewhat like it was before the enlightenment-reforms).

Also:

But the compendium 2083 was written for Western Europe only, so a Russian translation and version should be adapted for the circumstances in Russia in order to make good use of it. Keep in mind though that the manifesto 2083 is a draft and not a finished product. I do stand for almost everything written in it with some exception.

What I think he was trying to do with the disavowal letter is trying to gain more cred among the hardcore Nazis for building his proposed “prison network”.

Actually, it was quite stable. Large floater of a board. It was my first time out on one and I stayed dry the whole time…even fished out some plastic I saw in the harbor and stacked it on the board as I toured around.

But yes, it’s quite easy to fall off…and I suspect I will. I only went out because my wife wants to go out with her girlfriend and she didn’t know the process for checking out a board at the yacht club…(there isn’t one). I was out for about an hour and went all over the place…even checked out the abalone farm near the harbor entrance.

From the trial transcripts, 04.06.2012:

15:10 Lippestad: - We have heard the experts say about the ideologues and thinkers within the right-wing environment. I would like to hear who you have been affected by. You mentioned someone in an interview in October?

15:11 Breivik: - It is very important to emphasize that the distinction between methodological influences and role models. There are many different role models.

15:12 Lippestad pull off some names: - Robert Spencer? Fjordman?

15:12 Breivik: - They write very well, but they do not support violence.

15:12 Lippestad: - Pam Gellar?

15:13 Breivik: - She’s a Jew, but supports the struggle.

Also this:

Interrogation of the accused 08.02.12

[…]

About role models:

“moderate, non-violent ideologues on the right, as Fjordman, Robert Spencer, etc., have been important to convey a truth that does not appear in the media. They are then “ideological role models.” “Methodological role models,” ie “military role models” in relation to the method used. Here is perhaps the most important role model Al. Qaeda and other Islamist groups. “

144 marsl  Apr 18, 2015 3:03:57pm

Likud is becoming a far-right party, because of the their refusal of a negociated solution for the israeli-palestinian conflit.
Their refusal means that heir main supporters are the settlers and religious Jews, who are the most conservative people in Israel.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
For the european far-right parties, the Muslims replaced the Jews and the Communists as main enemies.
So, this unholy alliance is some kind of natural.
Also, Israel is becoming tired of the lack of support from the european goverments, who prefers the petrodollars and not the shekels.
For me, as a european, Europe is becoming something very nasty.

Anders Behring Breivik Court Statement 2012-06-04

It is very important to emphasize the distinction between ideological and methodological role models. The ideological role models do not support violence, but they describe the ideology very thoroughly. But when it comes to methodological role models you have Al Qaeda.

When it comes to ideological role models Robert Spencer describes problems in a good way. The same for Fjordman. They describe Europe’s problems even if they do not support violence. Bat Yeor also describes very well. Pamela Geller supports the efforts against the Islamization of the U.S. but she is Jewish herself so she does not support the European Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Bruce Bawer describes the censorship and sums up Europe’s problems. Andrew Bostom is good at some issues.

You have no idea how happy I am that I strongly renounced all those people long before Breivik committed his horrible crimes. It would have crushed me to have him cite my name at his trial.

It didn’t even slow down Spencer, Geller, Bostom and Fjordman, though.

149 Nyet  Apr 18, 2015 3:17:29pm

re: #145 Charles Johnson

In his letters he writes:

Me and other patriots are in the process of building up a prison network in Northern Europe for politically oriented prisoners (far right) focussing on the following countries: Germany, Russia, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. But our goal is also to get in touch with ideologically oriented prisoners in other European countries as well.

Judging by the letters, he was beginning to orient himself towards the most extreme neo-Nazis, particularly murderers, like the NSU or Russia’s Nikolay Korolyov. For that purpose he had to erase his ostensible “pro-Israel” (however laughable that label might be as applied to him) image and build a new, even more starkly anti-Jewish image now. Which explains this 180 turn.

150 Justanotherhuman  Apr 18, 2015 3:18:13pm

Just spent an excruciating hour on the phone with my DIL who’s out of work. WalMart did do her exceedingly wrong, after she even won the “employee of the month” award and was not even a perm employee and PT. She got sick with the flu and her COPD didn’t help matters. So, after her dr’s note of a 3 day layout ended, they would call her and tell her not to come in until she was 100% (they even knew she had COPD). So as she said, she’ll never be “100%”. So, after about 4 more days of not working, they fired her. And according to her, they get away with it all the time. Now she’s looking for work.

Meanwhile, I asked about her health ins, which she is paying $20/mo for, after her complaints about “Obamacare”, ad nauseam, and had to explain to her how the 3 branches of govt works, because after all, it’s all fucking Obama’s fault!.

I had to tell her that because the Rs in Raleigh didn’t accept Medicaid expansion, if not for “Obamacare”, she would have no health care at all, and if it came down to it, I’d pay the $20/mo. Of course, she’s not going to stop smoking, either, and even in her condition she thinks she can hold down a FT job or work as many hours as she can get. She is a hard worker, if unskilled except at retail, but I try to convince her to pace herself better because they don’t appreciate it anyway and she’s just going to kill herself trying. {sigh} She’s really in worse health than I am and only 46.

The above is certainly not an isolated case among people I know, either.

My next door neighbor, who hasn’t really been working, has been without health coverage for a long time. She started a new job this afternoon at a grocery chain. I don’t know how long she can hold up to it since she’s morbidly obese and has numerous health issues.

She also was unable to get Medicaid, because it’s not offered in NC unless you have underaged kids (hers are all over 18 now) or are on SSI disability. She’s not even 40 yet.

It wasn’t my intent to be judgmental - I totally get the grip of nicotine. I only quit cigarettes by replacing them with vaping, something she might try as well especially since it costs only a fraction of cigarettes. I was just curious about her low cost of insurance and wondering if that penalty was only imposed on those of us on the federal exchange.

I don’t know. She didn’t go through healthcare.gov, but bought outside with a company called “Coventry One”. It actually pays quite a bit with a low co-pay (except for the nebulizer she is supposed to use, which is a $55 co-pay), so it sounds like a good deal for someone with not much income.

The fact of the matter is, though, that most of us, even on Medicare, are paying pretty high co-pays in spite of having coverage. Medical costs are just skyrocketing and I’m hard pressed to keep up, and putting off a couple of procedures I need to have since the bills are still piling up from my last round of dr visits, lab tests, cat scan, mammogram, etc.

Some stuff which Medicare used to pay fully, or almost so, aren’t being paid like that anymore because costs are rising above what their schedules dictate paying. For instance, I’ve never had to pay anything on an ambulance bill until the ride the Fri evening after Thanksgiving and got a bill that included mileage and a balance of over $100 recently.
