Chuck C. Johnson Says: “Blacks Are More Violent”

Pure hatred
Wingnuts • Views: 31,825

Our stalker pal Chuck C. Johnson (who is NOT ME) got very worked up and excited when the violence broke out in Baltimore, and stayed up all night tweeting racist hatred like a noxious firehose. Among dozens and dozens of awful tweets, Chuck advocated:

  • taking away EBT cards
  • taking away welfare
  • taking away cell phones
  • shooting protesters en masse
  • nuking Baltimore
  • violence against the mayor of Baltimore

Yes, you read that last item correctly; Chuck published the private address of Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and called on rioters to destroy her house.

And today, Johnson followed up this orgy of hate speech with this:

This has been another post to document the sheer awfulness of this guy, so that anyone searching for information on him gets the real story.

We all have the propensity for violence.

IIRC, it varies on an INDIVIDUAL basis, not on any other factor.

I’m not sure how Twitter’s business model works, but they’re making money somehow - OK, granted, not so much as today’s earlier news demonstrated. But I often think the reason people like Chucky haven’t been permanently banned is that money’s gotta be involved somehow.

But then again, that doesn’t explain why Todd Kincannon (of TGDN fame) got the boot up the arse once and for all.

Anyway, for those who want to read more about what scientists actually think about Nicholas Wade’s book, which CCJ loves so much, the journal Human Biology have made open access to their reviews from last year:

re: #16 Kragar

Just remember, Chuck will tell you that he isn’t racist, its just science.

Well then, someone needs to tell the wanker journalist there is science behind racism!

Mother Jones - The Science of Your Racist Brain

Neuroscientist David Amodio on subconscious racial prejudice and why we’re still responsible for our actions.

…snip…

When we look at faces of individuals of a different race, a part of our brain called the amygdala often gets active. The amygdala is involved in learning and, specifically, in a type of learning called fear conditioning—tracking what kinds of things predict bad outcomes, much like a rat learning that a specific tone will lead to an electric shock. Essentially, its job is to figure out what parts of the environment are threatening and remind us to stay away from them.

The problem is that because our culture is filled with racial stereotypes, many of us “learn” inaccurate and prejudicial information about those who look different. And the amygdala operates extremely rapidly, long before our conscious thoughts have time to react. Thus, the operations of this and related brain regions, “if left unchecked, they might lead to the expression of some bias in a way that you don’t intend,” says Amodio.

Fortunately, the amygdala alone doesn’t drive all of our behavior. Our brains have evolved such that we have a large and highly-complex frontal cortex, which allows us to inhibit impulses, make complicated decisions and behave in socially appropriate ways. It’s the frontal cortex that helps most of us tamp down our gut reactions and, in our conscious behaviors, strive to treat members of all races equally. “The human mind is extremely adept at control and regulation,” Amodio says, “and the fact that we have these biases should really be seen as an opportunity for us to be aware and do something about them.”

That’s why, in the end, Amodio doesn’t think that the mere existence of implicit biases provides any excuse for the display of overt or explicit racism. After all, stereotypes are ubiquitous. We all perceive them in our culture, but we do not all act upon them. In other words, we have the ability—and the responsibility—to regulate our own behavior.

“I don’t really think humans have any good excuses for acting on their automatic biases,” says Amodio.

It really is a very good article/study.

Actually I think it’s simpler than that. There aren’t any laws that say a site can’t “discriminate” by say, refusing to allow a fundraiser for an asshole cop accused of killing an unarmed black guy, BUT let’s say that same site ran a fundraiser where only white people were allowed to donate. THAT would be illegal discrimination.

Monoamine oxidase A, also known as MAO-A, is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the MAOA gene.[2][3] Monoamine oxidase A is an isozyme of monoamine oxidase. It preferentially deaminates norepinephrine (noradrenaline), epinephrine (adrenaline), serotonin, and dopamine (which is equally deaminated by MAO-A and MAO-B).

It is inhibited by clorgyline and befloxatone. Inhibition of both MAO-A and MAO-B using a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAO inhibitor) is used in the treatment of clinical depression, erectile dysfunction and anxiety.

I think all those conservative religious fundies that so want marriage protected need to have a check box on a marriage license that makes that a legal declaration.

And then the divorce laws of the state need to state if you checked that box you can never ever get divorced and any outside the marriage dalliances are punishable by fines and jail time. But even then, right back into the marriage you protected. No way out…protected.

That should fix this problem, right?

I’m sure all the conservative politicians and religious fundie preachers would be perfectly fine with it.

In other words, put your fucking ideals in place in your own damn life and world and stop checking what others are up to.

Would this only apply to the males? Otherwise it looks like a simple way to help make marriage repressive upon woman and limit their options even further.

109 lawhawk  Apr 29, 2015 12:19:05pm

The Baltimore PD has been sued and the city has paid out more than $5.7 million to about 100 people since 2011. As others have pointed out, the state has a $200,000 cap on liability, which means that some of those cases who won had their judgments capped.

These are folks who were ostensibly arrested for crimes committed, and yet prosecutors dropped the charges, if they were ever filed in the first place.

If you think Ferguson was an isolated case, you are with your head buried way deep in the sand. If you think Missouri law enforcement is alone in excessive force, you’re mistaken. If you think that politicians crow about their law enforcement support to win reelection, even though there are serious problems with law enforcement agencies across the nation - and I’m not just talking about excessive force. Just this past month the FBI was forced to admit that a whole entire field of forensics was baffling BS that their foreinsic folks made up. How many people were imprisoned as a result of this bogus science? How many spent time in prison for crimes they didn’t commit?

It all adds up.

Baltimore isn’t an isolated instance. We have more than enough proof of that. What we need is action to resolve these problems.

Men see other men as their primary adversary. Powerful men want to control less powerful men. This can be done by inundating them with responsibility via law, guilt, religion, love or sincerity. Marriage encompasses all incentives to bind less powerful men to constant struggle.

Remember—every sperm is sacred!

What makes me crazy over this is that women don’t even fall into the category of “things to be controlled” in this scenerio. They are simply tools by which to control less powerful men —to remove them from the playing field, so the more powerful man can feel MANLY!!!

New York State was one of the last to move to no-fault for divorce. Previously, you had to have specific causes in order to claim a divorce.

Yet, NY has historically been seen as Sodom and Gomorrah combined, even though other states were far more progressive in the area of divorce and was late to the SSM game.

Or, consider that the religious right think that they should be entitled to exemptions from vaccines (and they just announced that rubella was eliminated in the Americas - courtesy of the MMR vaccine that the anti-vaxxers repeatedly attempt to blame for autism, except that is doesn’t), even though MS! and WV! only allow medical exemptions, without turning either into Sharia states where Christians are persecuted.

These folks are genuinely not right in the head.

Off-topic, I know, but this whizzed by in my news feed today:

‘Conceivable that Russia may intervene against Gotland,’ expert says

- Russia is fully capable of doing things that the Western powers sometimes seem strategically unthinkable, says Keir Giles, told Aftonbladet.

Keir Giles, a leading Russian and defense expert and at the British think tank Chatham House, warns that Russia can intervene militarily against Gotland within two years.

- Russia is fully capable of doing things that the Western powers deem strategically unthinkable. Gotland in the Baltic Sea is a strategically important place for air and maritime control of the region, Keir Giles told Aftonbladet.

Keir Giles said that in the early stages of the rest of the world put notice to Sweden for several years downsized their defense - and left Gotland undefended.

- So we can assume that it is something that Russia has also noticed and that Gotland is a place of interest to them, he says.

Deniable operations

According to Keir Giles, it is difficult to know what Russia is capable of doing and that their military tactics are constantly changing.

- Russia is also in the midst of a military rearmament as their military capability is difficult to assess, he says.

There are several ways in which Russia could take military action against the island of Gotland, says Keir Giles. One possible scenario is that Russia can, among other things, sending troops without national designation of uniforms, as they did during the invasion of the Crimea last year.

- A feature of Russia’s warfare is that they deny their operations despite the fact that everyone has “seen them.” It’s a big change. Before, they tried to hide their operations so denials would seem credible. But now Russia relies on deniable operations, or the denying the undeniable.

Misses the point

If Russia tries to scare the Nordic countries from joining NATO with an increased military presence in the Baltic Sea - they are missing the point, says Keir Giles.

- It leads rather to Finland and Sweden seriously considering NATO membership, he says.

Good point. Of course, I was trying to make a point about how stupid the term “protection of marriage” is in relation to reality. And that reality is many who cry for marriage protection do not protect their own marriages.

Isn’t the whole thinking about marriage by fundamentalists sort of repressive in its narrow and unrealistic terms?

A good practitioner of Dominion Theology would probably like my plan as originally typed.

Maybe for it to be a truly protected marriage both the male and female need to check off to make it so.

Isn’t that the whole idea of the Purge? Let folks kill indiscriminately for a period of time, let things sort themselves out after?

Oh wait, that’s what got the BPD to go into riot mode even before there were protests; and at the same time the Baltimore political leaders decided to shut down bus service into the affected area, leaving protesters and those who might cause trouble no way to get out of the area - establishing conditions for which a riot was all too likely (and which did come to pass).

But who are these protesters going to kill, if not each other? They would go after killing cops, which is what no one wants (except those who are sociopaths and who don’t need an excuse).

And it’s not like there haven’t been riots in places where firearms are abundant. Including across the US at different points in history. And typically, it’s been the government that ultimately put down these riots violently and with significant loss of life.

Interesting Q & A with David Simon

David Simon on Baltimore’s Anguish
Freddie Gray, the drug war, and the decline of “real policing.”

BK: What do people outside the city need to understand about what’s going on there — the death of Freddie Gray and the response to it?

DS: I guess there’s an awful lot to understand and I’m not sure I understand all of it. The part that seems systemic and connected is that the drug war — which Baltimore waged as aggressively as any American city — was transforming in terms of police/community relations, in terms of trust, particularly between the black community and the police department. Probable cause was destroyed by the drug war. It happened in stages, but even in the time that I was a police reporter, which would have been the early 80s to the early 90s, the need for police officers to address the basic rights of the people they were policing in Baltimore was minimized. It was done almost as a plan by the local government, by police commissioners and mayors, and it not only made everybody in these poor communities vulnerable to the most arbitrary behavior on the part of the police officers, it taught police officers how not to distinguish in ways that they once did.

Petroleum based tar needs to be at a much higher temperature to be liquid than the traditional pine tar, which might have been uncomfortably warm, but wouldn’t cause serious burns.

Other than driveway sealer the stuff needs to be heated to use - and thus probably fatal if applied. With pine tar it was more of a humiliation and intimidation act since the tar was liquid at normal temperatures.

There’s really two primaries going right now. Pre-Citizens United, there were also two, that between the establishment/Big Money candidate and the wacko candidate. And usually the former started with a significant advantage, either being an incumbent or being chosen before the election season even began. But CU decoupled Big Money from the establishment so that, now, a wacko candidate can actually make a strong run based solely on convincing enough Big Money donors that he’s a viable candidate.

So while the establishment may want another Bush, Big Money really doesn’t. Hence why they’re looking at Walker and Rubio, who having been polling equal or better than Bush for weeks now. My bet right now is the nomination is Rubio’s to lose.

I don’t see that happening. The primaries are where the base runs wild and, as we saw in 2012, the base is very much the ones in control. Romney won by virtue of being the last guy standing. There was no real challenger for the role of “moderate” and the rest of the field split the base vote something fierce. This year, the base vote really only has two people to pick from: Cruz or Paul. re: #244 Justanotherhuman

Is it really historic? I could have sworn to watch a few Mets games back at Shea on TV when they were dreadful where the stadium was empty. Same for the White Sox, Cubs, and especially the Expos.

Frankly, all this rests on the BPD. But for their killing Freddie Gray, this situation would not have devolved into riots. But for the BPD escalating their actions, a riot would not have occurred. But for the city officials shutting down buses leaving ppl stranded in the area, this would not have occurred.

But for the BPD engaging in excessive force time and again against the minorities living in the city that the BPD supposedly is to protect and serve, this would not have happened. The Orioles lost revenue because of the BPD. That’s on the BPD.

The Orioles lost revenue is a symptom of the BPD’s larger problems with excessive force; but also a symptom of how the focus is on the protesters who turned violent, and not on the BPD whose violence is under-remarked-upon and whose officers have repeatedly been caught engaging in violence, but prosecutions of these officers is rare (to be charitable).
