Harry Reid on Man Who Punked Right Wing Blogs and Radio Hosts: “I’m Glad at What He Did”

“I don’t see why he should apologize”
Wingnuts • Views: 30,853

Yesterday Sen. Harry Reid applauded the Las Vegas man who planted a hoax with right wing blogger John Hinderaker that spread to conservative talk radio, saying, “It shows how foolish journalism is as we know it.”

Except the people who spread the fake story really shouldn’t be called “journalists.”

“What this guy proved to me is that journalism doesn’t exist,” Reid said. “I wish I’d meet this guy and pat him on the back.”

[…]

Pfeifer has expressed regret at making up a story about Reid’s family that spread far and wide on the Internet. He called Reid’s office in Las Vegas on Tuesday saying he wanted to apologize, according to Reid aides.

But Reid said in an interview: “I don’t see why he should apologize. I’m glad at what he did. It shows how foolish journalism is as we know it. It’s evaporating and that’s too bad.”

“Look what he did to Rush Limbaugh,” Reid said. “This appeared in newspapers all over the country, in addition to the (story) where the gangsters beat me up.”

Reid said he does not consider Limbaugh and others who circulated the story to be journalists. “If they were journalists they wouldn’t be playing around with this garbage,” he said.

I really like Harry Reid a lot sometimes and this is why I’ll miss him being the Democrats guy in the Senate.

There’s a video of Chuck C. Johnson’s appearance with Joe Rogan on Vimeo, but I’m not going to post it because watching this guy actually makes me feel physically ill.

He’s shaved off his facial hair and now he looks even more repulsive. Every third word out of his mouth is “like.”

Obviously only communists feel gender dysphoria. Now in fairness, I was shocked he(he still wants to be called he right, I am trying to be polite here) anyhow I was shocked too that he is a self described Republican given the dominant train of thought in that party that seems to view transpeople as sex offenders who just want to use the opposite sex’s rest room to sexual harass people not you know the reason why people you use the bathroom.

I bet there are eggs somewhere in those bushes within a few feet of the president.

Where I used to work, for three or so years in a row we had a duck couple right outside our front entrance. You could pull back the one bush and see momma duck on her eggs and as still as all get out even with human eyes prying.

I thought at the time, the ducks were smart using an area where the humans would help out keeping watch and keeping the type of animals and birds that might mess with the ducks away due to proximity.

MSNBC is showing New York city protesters being arrested for being in the streets.

Just saw them take a rather well-dressed woman and an elderly man being led away in cuffs. The elderly gentleman was dragging himself, so they picked him up and carried him off.

Oh yeah, just in case…both are white. Matter of fact there are a lot of white people in the NY protests.

And as Chris Matthew’s guest is saying…they have not forgotten Eric Garner,

Another remarkable photograph from Traces of Texas.
Children boarding a school bus in New Deal (north of Lubbock) in 1957.

It is a little known fact that rural Texas schools, especially in west Texas, were typically integrated even in Jim Crow times. There was just one school and they had no choice. The system worked very well and schools like New Deal were very highly regarded by college admissions officers in those days. Lubbock itself was in many ways a progressive and forward looking city in the 40s and 50s. What happened? The Republican southern strategy for one thing with money hungry developers feeding “white flight” paranoia to fill up their otherwise unappealing cracker boxes and mcmansions for another.

Heh. There is a Booji Boy Wiki Page.

Part of the story of Booji Boy:

Booji Boy was incorporated into Devo’s 1996 PC CD-ROM video game “Adventures of the Smart Patrol.” His name was simplified to “Boogie Boy” and the game claims his “real name” was “Craig Allan Rothwell.” Not coincidentally, this is also supposedly the real name of the dancer known as “Spazz Attack” who appeared in some of Devo’s videos and played Booji Boy on a Devo tour.

The game’s booklet contained more information about the character’s back story:

Obsessed with the idea of genetic mutation, Craig submitted to a botched operation in an effort to land a media deal with Big Media. Viola! Boogie Boy - a bizarre adult infant freak with pre-adolescent sexuality and Yoda-like wisdom.

Too funny. That is Chuck.

Yup, not having that debate is the cost of a faux primary. It’s an intellectual loss of significance. The anointed one’s machine (we do see this from time to time over the decades, not aimed just at Hilary) closes out all other candidates before they even start. some media critics of the Bush “dynasty” have had a lot to say about that alleged dynasty, but now look the other way on Hilary.

I don’t remember 2000 that well but wasn’t it pretty much Gore and Bradley? At least Hillary will likely be facing Sanders, O’Malley, and possibly Webb who granted is someone I am not that fond of and frankly mystified to why he is running in the first place since he gave up his Senate seat supposedly to retire and because he didn’t like politics.

Webb is looking for the Celtic Appalachian and military votes.

The reports I’ve seen on how O’Malley massaged the crime statistics in Baltimore during his tenure as mayor are certainly enough to ensure I’d vote for someone else in a (D) primary. In fact, serious nose-holding would be required for me to vote for O’Malley instead of a Republican in a general election.

I am predicting new debate rules that revolve around having at least 10% (or whatever magic number Bernie is right below) poll numbers to be invited to the debates.

Woman was put on a stretcher in an ambulance. Cop pulled our cameraman away and yelled “don’t film that!”

Here in NYC, after numerous court orders, the cops have generally stopped demanding “Don’t film that!” and hauling in people for filming their activities, as they’ve done for many, many years.

Somewhat apropos of that, I’m rereading a book about D.W. Griffith, and wish someone had said “Don’t film that!” while he was filming Birth of a Nation.

re: #109 Great White Snark

Yup, not having that debate is the cost of a faux primary. It’s an intellectual loss of significance. The anointed one’s machine (we do see this from time to time over the decades, not aimed just at Hilary) closes out all other candidates before they even start. some media critics of the Bush “dynasty” have had a lot to say about that alleged dynasty, but now look the other way on Hilary.

Right. I mean next in lines do happen and it’s understandable why she’s the favorite but I would hate to see her run with token opposition. I really feel if she wants to be nominated and elected she should have to earn the nomination just like Obama and her husband did. And in the end, I think it will make her a better leader.

Dan Quayle should throw his hat in the GOP presidential ring, everyone else has. Yeah, I know he was a national laughingstock back in the day, but he would look like a major statesman compared to the current mob and it would be a good chance to redeem his reputation.

Quayle made a very telling statement about the primary system when he appeared with Jay Leno just after calling off his abortive presidential bid in 2000. When Jay asked him why he called it quits, Quayle responded, “We just could not match the Bush money machine.”

When Bernie talked at our convention last weekend, he got a great reception. The only negative thing I will say about his speech was he spent a whole lot more time saying what was wrong without offering a lot of ideas about how to make it right. It was kind of depressing.

It was just weird. By the way, the record before today for fewest fans at a game was six before today. There were a few people in the stands- scouts for both teams. It was pretty funny though since you could hear a lot more and the Orioles manager even said that he could hear the phone ring in the bulpen when he called and I am not sure if he was joking or serious but he apparently told the broadcasters to keep it down a bit. It was a really powerful press conference because he showed a lot of empathy for the people protesting. He(Showalter) is a white southerner from Florida’s Panhandle and one of his star players is an African American from a rough part of San Diego who has done a lot with the inner city community in Balitmore since joining the team. I’ve been really proud to be a fan of this team seeing how the employees of it both players, broadcasters, coaches, and even ownership have responded to the situation.

152 HappyWarrior  Apr 29, 2015 5:49:33pm

Hearing that John Angelos (Orioles COO) just said that the team is going to pay its concession employees their whole pay had there been a game today. Errr had there been a regular game with paying fans and thus a need for concession workers. Yet another reason to proud to root for such a team. I now don’t feel contradictory at all about being an Orioles/Steelers fan because both are organizations that treat its employees athletes and non athletes alike with class and respect.
