Pamela Geller: Burmese Muslims Had It Coming

She really doesn’t believe in freedom or human rights.
Wingnuts • Views: 31,998

In her recent Time magazine piece, Pamela Geller denies that she and her organization, American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), were “asking for it” when their “Draw the Prophet” contest was attacked by Muslim extremists on Sunday. She claims they were fighting for “freedom,” but how does she feel about the freedom of Muslims to live and worship freely? One need only look at her attitude towards the Rohingya people of Burma to see her hypocrisy.

The Rohingya are an ethnic minority in Burma. As Muslims, they face constant persecution from the Buddhist majority. For decades they have been denied basic civil rights. In recent years, they have been forced to lived in squalid camps.

Two years after the outbreak of communal violence, a deepening humanitarian crisis is claiming more lives by the day. Malnutrition and waterborne illnesses in the camps, aggravated by the eviction of aid groups and onset of monsoon rains, have led to a surge of deaths that are easily preventable. In a country that’s still being hailed in the West for its tilt toward democracy, the ongoing blockade on critical aid to more than 100,000 displaced Rohingya around Sittwe — and thousands elsewhere in Rakhine state — amounts to a crime against humanity, rights groups say.

For years, the Rohingya have been denied citizenship in Buddhist-majority Burma, and have faced severe restrictions on marriage, employment, health care and education. Now, it seems, the Burmese authorities are determined to starve and sicken the Rohingya out of existence.

time.com

Organizations from Amnesty International to the Brookings Institute to the Heritage Foundation recognized the atrocities being committed in Burma. In 2013, the U.S. House of Representatives proposed a resolution condemning the persecution of the Rohingya. Geller opposed it.

In her mind, because the Rohingya are Muslim, they deserve such treatment. In an AFDI “Action Alert” she wrote:

Support the Buddhists in Burma. Seriously. Do this. I am in Boston, as our free speech lawsuit is being heard today, but I will be working the phones, and so should you. Burma is 90% Buddhist. These are a peaceful people. The Muslims have brought war to Burma.

See more at: donotlink.com

Typically, while fighting for her own rights, she disparages the Rohingya and their rights. She engages in a perverse example of blaming the victim. From there, Geller continues into an all out xenophobic, paranoid, hate-filled rant:

Anywhere Muslims immigrate, conflict follows. And so it goes in Burma. More on the effects of Muslim immigration here. When tolerant and culturally diverse societies agree to Muslim demands for their religious privileges, so begins the process of islamization…..At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs….From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims…When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions…After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues…At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare…From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon…After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced…100% will usher in the peace of ‘Dar-es-Salaam’ — the Islamic House of Peace. Here there’s supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasses are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word.

See more at: donotlink.com

The House, to their credit, passed the resolution despite opposition.

Does Geller deserve first amendment protection? Of course she does, just like the KKK and the Westboro Baptists. But like these other groups, she is not fighting for “freedom” or “human rights.” She is a hateful, spiteful bigot who sees the “other” as less than human.

I’m sure she’d love this story from the Post yesterday that describes how the Chinese government is requiring shops in Muslim/Uighur territories to prominently display cigarettes and booze for sale in order to “weaken Islam.”

Does it not bother conservatives that all of their so-called solutions to “the Muslim Problem” and “clashes of civilization” involve vastly expanding the size of already-Big Government?

I guess I did forget to mention the local level strategy of Islamophobia.

4 RadicalModerate  May 6, 2015 3:01:43pm

This isn’t the first time that she thought that a group of people “had it coming” in regards to persecution - even to the level of systemic massacre.

First a quote from her in regard to Anders Breivik’s mass murder spree:

Geller justifies Breivik’s attack on the Norwegian Labour Party summer youth camp because she says the camp is part of an anti-Israel “indoctrination training center.” She says the victims would have grown up to become “future leaders of the party responsible for flooding Norway with Muslims who refuse to assimilate, who commit major violence against Norwegian natives including violent gang rapes, with impunity, and who live on the dole.”

Then there is the whole deal of her engaging in genocide denial in Srebrenica, and labeling the convicted war criminals who orchestrated the atrocities as heroes.

Hey, remember back in the 80’s when we funded Muslim extremists to fight communists? Sure glad that never came back to bite us on the ass!

Once more and more people realize that she has blood of children on her hands that she can never wash the stain off of, no one will want to associate themselves with her. She dug herself a grave that she can’t get out of, all we can do is be patient and watch her entire empire crumble.

16 Justanotherhuman  May 6, 2015 4:25:36pm

You said it all much better than I ever could.

I’d just call her a racist pig, bordering on fascist, and let it go at that, because that’s what I think of this low life creature. Not to mention all the men she hangs out with. I mean, has anyone ever seen her friendly with a woman or is her jealousy of other women too deep?

17 electrotek  May 6, 2015 4:25:55pm

BTW, anyone remember Bat Ye’or? I haven’t heard anything from her in a long time since she expressed her regret that her writings influenced Breivik, so perhaps she may have repented?

I made this comment on the Shrieking Harpy thread at Raw Story:

Do you actually read before you comment? You might as well have said that a document written in June, 1776 and mentions Divine Providence has no relation to anything in 2015.
The assaults on free speech and English liberty were very, very real during the Glorious Revolution, and had consequences in American law down the road.

I got this response:

Glorious Revolution capitalized? That says a lot about you. People like me might think revolutions are necessary, but they’re never glorious. They’re bloody and awful.

Somebody fucking shoot me. I am now being crucified and having my character questioned because of a proper fucking noun.

No, it involves vastly expanding the Military. That is different than government. The Military is a Christian Evangelical Organization and therefore must prosecute the next crusade.

Yeah, that much is clear. Send them to references to the Glorious Revolution as “the Bloodless Revolution” and watch them spin. Of course, it was bloodless only in comparison with what Cromwell & his bunch did 40 years earlier, but still, it got that moniker, which might be enough to get this shrill dingbat off your ass. They might come back, but then again, getting into a debate about the legitimacy of 17th-century liberationist movements might be a bit beyond this person’s intellectual capacity.

I remember getting into an argument once with someone who was complaining that it took some country too long to have free elections after a regime change (Nicaragua? Can’t remember for sure) and wouldn’t believe that it took until 1789 for Washington to take office under the Constitution; 14 very long years after April 1775.

35 FemNaziBitch  May 6, 2015 4:44:12pm

I’ve been avoiding Garland which isn’t a bad idea since it has always attracted the nutjobs of all flavors:

GARLAND, Tex.— The members of God’s Salvation Church started moving in last summer. They have bought at least 30 houses, all with cash and all within a two-and-a-half-mile radius. At least 150 followers have arrived from Taiwan, with more on their way.

They dress almost completely in white, including white sneakers and white straw cowboy hats. Their leader, Heng-ming Chen, whom they call Teacher Chen, says he talks to God through his hand and discerns godly wisdom from golden balls that he sees floating in the sky.

But what has really attracted the neighbors’ attention here is the bold pronouncement in Teacher Chen’s long guide to his religion, entitled ”God’s Descending in Clouds (Flying Saucers) on Earth to Save People.” On page 176, he promises: ”At 10 A.M. on March 31, 1998, God shall make His appearance in the Holy Land of the Kingdom of God: 3513 Ridgedale Dr., Garland, TX. 75041 U.S.A.” He concludes: ”I guarantee this on my life.”

It was what the English did in place of the Thirty Years War on the continent but the same Catholic/Protestant tensions were driving much of the conflicts. It’s interesting history to me as an Anglo-Catholic Episcopalian but it was deadly serious through the whole of that century.

Now, we’ll probably hear from the RWNJs about “reparations”.

“From 1972 through 1991, Burge and officers under his command tortured more than 100 African Americans, largely in impoverished sections of Chicago’s South Side, in a systematic regime of violence and intimidation.

“Men in custody were subjected to electric shocks, burns and mock executions, among other brutal acts, predominantly in order to extract confessions.”

It’s not nearly enough. This was torture.

My wife, who turns 40 this year, told me she never learned about Viet Nam in high school history. Not a word.

I’m thinking the last people who know about what happened in Viet Nam were the people who actually lived through it.

Senior year (80s) my dad came in to give lectures to most of the school about his tour in Vietnam. The only questions asked in the Q & A was about weed.

I think that’s because American history is often done in order and more recent things like Vietnam come at the tail end of the year if at all. A real shame since VIetnam’s lessons need to be heeded big time.

More failures from our bumbling governor and his merry band of RWNJ.

This has to be the most pathetic title for the article. If it was a dem it would read something like “Failing state economy get a swift kick in the pills from morons in Madison”. //

No increase in revenue estimates forces tough budget decisions

State GOP lawmakers won’t get any additional growth in tax money to help avoid Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed education cuts so are instead looking at a one-shot injection of money to keep K-12 spending flat and their past tax cuts in place.

Top Republicans signaled they could also increase vehicle registration fees to limit proposed borrowing for state roads. But legislative leaders said they wouldn’t delay the phase-in of previous tax cuts or stop expansion of private taxpayer-funded voucher schools to undo more of the $300 million in proposed cuts to the University of Wisconsin System over two years.

Walker, an all but certain presidential candidate, and legislative Republicans have said for months that a revved up economy, fueled in part by their tax cuts, would lead to more tax money than projected through June 2017 and help them mitigate the education cuts.

But the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau projected Wednesday that the initial tax estimates would hold and there would be no May flowers for elected officials.

MrBWS bought a 1953 HD motor in Ohio in December, stuck the motor on a spare frame (but nothing else, yet) and got it titled here in Kentucky in January.
Shortly thereafter, someone in Arizona tried to insure a 1953 HD with the exact same VIN.

So, I was in Vegas for some concerts by my favorite touring rock ‘n’ roll circus Umphrey’s McGee. It was their once-a-year UMBowl concert, which is 100% audience-sourced. One of the sets is called Stew-Art. There’s a big screen behind the band. During the set, they give you a number to text to, and they want you to text musical ideas to the band. A curator (the band’s manager) sits at a computer and picks out the best concepts that come in and they’re projected on the screen behind the band for them to play.

Of course, if I go out to the corner and turn SSW, I see a huge stratovolcano looming, so…I guess we’ve all got our problems.

re: #4 RadicalModerate

This isn’t the first time that she thought that a group of people “had it coming” in regards to persecution - even to the level of systemic massacre.

First a quote from her in regard to Anders Breivik’s mass murder spree:

Then there is the whole deal of her engaging in genocide denial in Srebrenica, and labeling the convicted war criminals who orchestrated the atrocities as heroes.

littlegreenfootballs.com

I remember back in 2010, shortly after the Great Flouncing, when the subject of Srebrenica came up here, Rodan and his Stalker Blog posted a piece celebrating ‘Arkan’s Tigers’ a Serb paramilitary group that was in part responsible for the massacre. While they were praising murderers, the Stalkers were also quoting Pam Geller. That told me everything I needed to know about Pam Geller’s supporters.

They were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things.

I ran across this video on the Daily Mail’s website and tracked down the original on YouTube:

The explanation text:

CPT Sarah Cudd from Public Health Command, Fort Knox is only 1 of the 46 candidates who earned the EFMB yesterday at Fort Dix, NJ..27 April 2015. This is her last few seconds of the 12 Mile Foot March. The Foot March is the last event of the Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB), and must be completed within 3 hours. If you want it, you have to go get it. Watch this video. This EFMB candidate wanted it, and she got it. It took heart, guts, determination, falling down and getting up, and a little motivation from the crowd to get across the finish line. Check this out.

And to the haters out there who are using this video to run down the army and women in it, let me just say: “March 12 miles in full combat gear yourself and then I’ll listen to you.”

Didn’t mean to derail everything…but the Raw Story people were getting on my nerves over wanting to use quasi-facistic means to get rid of a quasi-facist (Geller) and I am sick to death of trying to explain that abusing hate crimes laws to silence her would only backfire on everybody else when another President came into power who doesn’t like progressives.

That is how abuse of the law under Cromwell and the Parliamentarians (both in the English Civil War and the Glorious Revolution) came up.

I generally hate going Magic Balance Fairy, but Raw Story commenters are the liberal version of Freepers or InfoWar commenters.

That actually brings me to something I hesitate to ask but feel I must:

What needs to be done to ensure that the death of the terrorist and traitor Elton Simpson is left out of the May Police Violence Report? I ask because while Simpson was indeed a black man killed by a police officer, he was killed in what he admitted beforehand was an act of aggression on behalf of a foreign entity and the cop who shot him was clearly justified.

So I’d like to ensure that Simpson is left off police violence stats for May, because law enforcement should not be faulted for killing a terrorist bent on mass murder.

And through that rabbit hole, I came upon a fascinating account of the recording of the album Chavez Ravine.

[…]

The “Chavez Ravine” album will do a lot by introducing Chicano music and artists to a wider audience and to help the cause of Chicano music in general. The artists on the record will also get some well- deserved attention and recognition. The album also sheds some light on the almost forgotten story and plight of the people of the barrio of Chavez Ravine. Ry Cooder is a brilliant and talented visionary who marches to his own drum. It took a person of his genius to create a record that is both socially significant and immensely entertaining. Some of the songs are in English, some in Spanish, some bilingual, and others use Chicano slang (Caló). Many styles of music are represented on this record, yet it has a natural flow and cohesiveness. The final recording sessions for both my dad and Don Tosti are on this album, which serves as a monumental memorial for both great artists. I highly recommend this record. It’ll take you to places you’ve never been and you’ll be glad you went.

He has to be included, so we can calculate accurately what percentage of killed by police are armed/unarmed, and what percentage were (misdemeanor should’ve been arrested in one piece) vs (needed killing).
