GOHMERT! - Patriotic Americans “Have reason to be concerned” about Jade Helm 15

Wingnuts • Views: 30,818

Certainly, I can understand these concerns. When leaders within the current administration believe that major threats to the country include those who support the Constitution, are military veterans, or even ‘cling to guns or religion,’ patriotic Americans have reason to be concerned. We have seen people working in this administration use their government positions to persecute people with conservative beliefs in God, country, and notions such as honor and self-reliance. Because of the contempt and antipathy for the true patriots or even Christian saints persecuted for their Christian beliefs, it is no surprise that those who have experienced or noticed such persecution are legitimately suspicious.

=====

Once I observed the map depicting ‘hostile,’ ‘permissive,’ and ‘uncertain’ states and locations, I was rather appalled that the hostile areas amazingly have a Republican majority, ‘cling to their guns and religion,’ and believe in the sanctity of the United States Constitution. When the federal government begins, even in practice, games or exercises, to consider any U.S. city or state in ‘hostile’ control and trying to retake it, the message becomes extremely calloused and suspicious.

Such labeling tends to make people who have grown leery of federal government overreach become suspicious of whether their big brother government anticipates certain states may start another civil war or be overtaken by foreign radical Islamist elements which have been reported to be just across our border. Such labeling by a government that is normally not allowed to use military force against its own citizens is an affront to the residents of that particular state considered as ‘hostile,’ as if the government is trying to provoke a fight with them. The map of the exercise needs to change, the names on the map need to change, and the tone of the exercise needs to be completely revamped so the federal government is not intentionally practicing war against its own states.”

With any luck, the conspiracy industry will become a victim of its own success when Jade Helm ends quietly on September 15. As pointed out elsewhere, the hard-core conspira-liars, leaders and followers alike, will not miss a beat in ignoring and dismissing the abject failure of their predictions. That is because they don’t believe their own bullshit. The leaders are in it for the money, the followers for an excuse to play with guns and indulge their innate tendency to be assholes.

The problem is that the Jade Helm uproar has managed to bring in a great many well-intentioned but gullible people who are not hard core conspiracy culturists.

The conspira-liars are predicting they will have to go into hiding after Jade Helm. They might be right once Cletus the Redneck realizes he’s been had.

What I hate being part Irish is seeing Irish-Americans put down immigrants. I know how hard my Irish ancestors worked and I know how much crap they put up with from nativists. I’d be sympathetic to immigrants if I were a WASP mind you but being of fairly recent immigrant stock makes it even easier. My mom’s side (Eastern European), I remember my grandfather talking about witnessing a Klan march through their town at one point and it probably horrified my great grandparents.

61 HappyWarrior  May 8, 2015 3:13:18pm

I mean too often I see right wing Irish-Americans try to claim we had it tougher than African-Americans did. Uh no buddy we did not. My great great grandfather came to this country in his own free will with his parents and my other Irish born great great great grandfather came as a young adult. Yeah they called us drunkards and called us horrible things. But we were free. We weren’t enslaved and we didn’t have people like John C. Calhoun claiming that the enslavement was a “moral good.” Did Irish-Americans get persecuted? Absolutely and did it stink, yeah you bet. But the Irish-American experience is nothing to what African-Americans, Native-Americans, and other groups have experienced.

Hell now I don’t even know if they were all Catholic since I found out GX3 Grandpa was from County Down and I can’t tell by his name whether he was from a traditional Gaelic Irish family, Norman-Irish, Scots-Irish, or Anglo-Irish. Gx2 grandparents on my maternal grandfather’s side were definitely Catholics though from the West: O’Malleys, Joyces. Though even there’s some questions there since my great grandmother is listed as being born in Scotland to Irish parents and I have no idea where in Scotland and Ireland.

The most shocking find in my family tree though was by far finding some French but since it was Alsace, I don’t know if they were French or German speakers. Also found that my great grandmother (mom’s mom’s mom) was illegitimate but still got baptized. No father listed and my grandmother tells me that her mother always told her that her father died when she was young(assume that was a story that her mother and grandparents made up).

Since my father died, his widow got some stuff from the Social Security Office that says my parents married after their fourth (of seven) child. That would make me illegitimate!

Actually yes, even using klan boy’s terms, because both the white founders and Obama are H. sapiens since all H. sapiens can interbreed. Oops. Sorry ‘bout that Natural fact there.

I swear that boy’s as sharp as a bowling ball.

Obliged Friend didn’t think it through. The only reason Obama is not eligible for a third term is a little thing called a Constitutional Amendment (the 22nd in fact). It was an earlier amendment, the 14th, that gave citizenship to all persons born in the United States and therefore superceded whatever intention the founders may have had. Since it distinguished between “born” and “naturalized” in the United States it is clearly not any kind of naturalization of those born here.

Bangladesh traffickers killed in raid

bangkokpost.com

DHAKA — Three people-smugglers accused of trafficking thousands of people were killed in a gunfight with Bangladeshi police on Friday, officers said, days after dozens of migrant remains were found in Thailand.

Police said the three “notorious” traffickers had died after being shot during an anti-trafficking raid in the southern coastal town of Teknaf in the Cox’s Bazar district, close to the border with Myanmar.

The traffickers were suspected of smuggling thousands of Bangladeshi and Myanmar nationals across rough seas to Malaysia and Thailand.

The raid followed the discovery this month of migrant graves and a network of secret jungle camps by people-smugglers in Thailand’s deep south. More

Yes, the ancestors to the current-day Mormons have done some shitty stuff. Hell, some current day Mormons have done some shitty stuff. But if you are (rightly) pissed with people treating all Muslims as the same when it comes to Daesh, don’t do the same thing to another group.

A Project to Turn Corpses Into Compost

It is a startling next step in the natural burial movement. Even as more people opt for interment in simple shrouds or biodegradable caskets, urban cemeteries continue to fill up. For the environmentally conscious, cremation is a problematic option, as the process releases greenhouse gases.

Armed with a prestigious environmental fellowship, Katrina Spade, a 37-year-old Seattle resident with a degree in architecture, has proposed an alternative: a facility for human composting.

The idea is attracting interest from environmental advocates and scientists. The woman laid to rest in wood chips is a first step in testing how it would work.

We understand that you get worked up perhaps more than most of us do but you really have to realize that it’s not acceptable and you are going to get called out on it. I don’t want to sound like I am ganging up on you but it really rubs a lot of people the wrong way I mean it’s not okay for people like Geller to judge all Muslims for 9/11 so don’t judge all LDS for something that happened years ago and Prop 8. Just realize that there’s going to be good people doing good things in every group and bad people doing the same. For every LDS like that guy who called children of gay parents illegitimate, there are people like the Udall cousins who are strong progressive voices and also Harry Reid. Same thing with other groups.

I was really skeptical of the whole “books on tape” concept, but it’s been a lifesaver. A good narrator gets out of your way (less significant in non-fiction) and you can just enjoy the book.

I still tend towards stuff I have read before for tasks that have the potential to seriously grab my attention, because I can just tune back in and know where the story is going, but it helps a LOT.

Gotcha, sounds good. Really it’s fun learning about new things. What I like when I learn about history is trying to picture what my ancestors were doing while all that was going on. My mom’s mom’s folks for instance since you brought up WWI were from a part of the Austrian-Hungarian empire that was very near Russia and I remember my grandmother even saying that her father worked in Siberia for a while too.

It’s referenced in the book of Genesis, where God is described as having created animals, plants, fish, etc., “according to their [natural] kinds.” Biblical literalists take this as evidence of a genetic classification akin to “super-species” that allowed for rapid diversification into the individual species we see today, but without the muss and fuss of transitional species, thus solving the supposed “missing link problem”.

re: #300 thedopefishlives

It’s referenced in the book of Genesis, where God is described as having created animals, plants, fish, etc., “according to their [natural] kinds.” Biblical literalists take this as evidence of a genetic classification akin to “super-species” that allowed for rapid diversification into the individual species we see today, but without the muss and fuss of transitional species, thus solving the supposed “missing link problem”.

Thank you! I never heard of that before. Amazing the number of things we can arrive at to fervently believe.

Understand, I don’t like paying much for games either. I got it on sale during the 1.0 version release week. Tons and tons of replay value though. Everything about it is insanely well thought out. You can even play it to your own music library but the music that comes with it is so good I never have.

Speaking of overblown titles, one of my favorites is from the Wheel of Time series.

The title of the head of the Children of Light (an independent military order of religious zealots) was Lord Captain Commander.

At least half the GOP primary field would die of acute pleasure if they could actually get that title.

A long, long time ago, I dropped a large number of quarters into a game machine to finally clear one rack of Space Invaders. Unfortunately, that was hardly the end of the game.

Even worse, my parents kept track of the quarter consumption and gave my sister a tidy lump sum to balance things out.

I learned my lesson well —- no games that require any real point and shoot skill for me.

re: #334 Kragar

The name caught my eye, and the conversation with my mom came back to me.

Apparently my …well, I guess he’s my uncle, since he’s married to my aunt, but… we’ll call him Herbert here.

Anyway, Herbert is growing kale hydroponically. Quite successfully, I might add. Mom says some of it is taller than she is. Of course, Herbert doesn’t eat kale.

No, it’s all for the tilapia. That he also has in the basement. Farmed, of course. Well, okay, at least they have fresh fish.

Except Herbert doesn’t eat tilapia either. (And, okay, how the fuck do you grow up to adulthood in WI without being able to manage tilapia. I can manage tilapia and I am vehemently against fishy fish at ten paces.) NO, the tilapia are so they can fertilize the lettuce he does eat.

That’s the point where I give up and promise to play nice at the family reunion later this year. Since my mother has to make the same promise, it isn’t that much of a chore.

Yeah, I still prefer Civ V, but I am hoping that Civ VI takes some notes from Beyond Earth, like the whole idea of a colony taking turns to become a full-fledged city. Or the whole tech web idea.

I like to think of a Civ:BE gave as being the sequel to a science victory in Civ V.

It’s one of those incredibly depressing situations where I think my aunt regrets the whole choice of Herbert too but there are children involved and I get the feeling that shitty decisions are being made as a result.
