Breitbart’s Ben Shapiro Tries to Take Up Where Chuck Johnson Left Off

Shapiro gets his hate on
Wingnuts • Views: 23,847

With the ignominious departure of right wing cyberstalker Chuck Johnson from Twitter, there’s a hate vaccum to be filled, and people like Breitbart loon Ben Shapiro are stepping up their awfulness game to take over where the Ginger Avenger left off. Here are some of Shapiro’s tweets in response to Caitlyn (formerly Bruce) Jenner’s appearance on the cover of Vanity Fair’s new issue:

Caitlyn’s experience as a woman is going to be different from my experience as a woman. She’s going to deal with a lot more challenges than I will. At the same time, I will face some issues she won’t.

But I will fight for her right to be who she is, and I hope that she’ll realize at some point that the Republican party isn’t supportive of women, whether they are born that way or choose to become one physically to match who they are inside.

Ben, on the other hand, is just an ass.

They really think all gay men and transwomen are a bunch of effeminate wimps. Buzzfeed actually occassionally has some good stuff and they had an article about some transgender vets. I dare Bryan or Ben to call any of these women “mentally ill” to their face. Really, I’m happy for Caitlyn Jenner. IT’s a new beginning for her and her choosing to be a woman has no effect whatsoever on how I live my own life and I’m not going to attack her simply because she feels more comfortable as a woman than a man. There’s nothing wrong with her.

If you are cheering rather than praying for a man who has mutilated himself due to mental illness, you are part of the problem.

Saying femininity defines womanhood at all is sexist, unless you slap Bruce Jenner in a dress. Then he’s a lady

So, Ben is “praying” for Jenner and then talks about “slapping” Jenner.

Reality is also a big problem for GOPers. What passes for ideas in their tiny minds has, in fact, been tried (e.g. gilded age, W Bush administration, etc.).

The results were dismal. The conservative approach to this fact is to deny reality and rewrite history.

The other way around, it’s feminists who generally balk at the idea of femininity defining womanhood, conservatives who think it does. Hence the fixation with gender norms, MRA’s like Roosh railing against women with short hair, etc.

Ben doesn’t get that what makes Caitlyn a woman in these photos is not the dress but her decision.

The outward trappings mean something to her, and I’m sure will making presenting as a woman easier, but that’s not why people are saying she’s a woman now.

43 goddamnedfrank  Jun 1, 2015 1:43:06pm

Also, even TERF’s don’t usually go in for the external trappings of “femininity” defining womanhood, such as dress, and traditional gender roles in relationships, i.e. “women should stay at home with the kids” etc. They don’t justify pay inequality or condemn butch lesbians. For them womanhood is a genetically exclusionary club, that’s all.

The other internal confusion is the way Republicans treat women as less than men, and then a Republican man opts to become a woman! How can people like Ben consider someone like that as equal to a man?

Iran is in a lot of ways like the US. There is a massive political divide, and a significant culture war. Heck, because of birth control and vastly more women than men graduating University, there is even an anti-woman backlash too.

I don’t think the current order will last much longer. The president is pushing for open elections, and the population is massively skewed toward Liberal Millenials. Iran is likely to shift.

I am STILL wading through that decision (for the second time today).
It is so dense and there is so much written in it about what it does NOT apply to but, the takeaway I have so far aligns with my initial reaction: SCOTUS ruled on one very narrow aspect, which was a jury instruction dealing with state of mind.
SCOTUS did NOT rule that social media threats were OK.

To be fair, SCOTUS didn’t say that its legal to make violent threats over the internet. It only said that, as in most criminal cases, the defendant’s intent matters.

It was 7-2. Alito concurred in part but also dissented in part saying something like (and I’m seriously paraphrasing here) any threat should be taken at face value as a threat and that it shouldn’t matter if the defendant was “just joking” if the person(s) targeted felt threatened.
Alito was also concerned about confusion that the ruling will result in determining what mental state will be required for conviction.

I haven’t waded, but from reading other legal opinions, I believe that’s correct. It was the jury instruction about “what a reasonable person would think” and didn’t include intent (state of mind); and, the lower court can retry the case, correcting that error.

IANAL, so that’s just my read of some other people’s interpretation.

That’s a large part of the reason that they bristle at the idea of homosexuality and transexuality. It’s messing with “God’s plan” or some simplistic idea of how nature is supposed to work. If it looks like a man, it’s supposed to lust after women, compete with other men to prove one’s “manliness,” and forgo anything that is not “manly.” So a man who’s attracted to other men or feels he’s really a woman in the wrong body totally messes up their view of the universe.

The religious/hate right sees gender as some essential thing, that is, as an essence of a person. Which is weird because in the NT the Jesus character clearly says there is no male nor female in heaven.

Anyway, transgender identities and homosexuality challenges them not because of doctrine but rather because of fear of sexuality. Jenner is showing that identity can be assumed or changed if a person wants to do so.

The second reason is because bronze age religions espouse baby-factories (c.f. Duggar madness.) Fertility rituals and religion are companions throughout world religions.

However, here in 2015 we have no shortage of babies. We don’t need baby factories, and indeed growing populations are a problem for many places in the world, also something religious fundamentalists (not just Christian) are afraid to admit.

Well there’s a small mystery solved. A squirrel was creeping about my veggies. Got into the roma tomato plant but the mockingbird chased him out. Then the squirrel made a leap into the heirloom tomato pot whilst the mockingbird valiently dive bombed him repeatly and smacked him on the head a couple of times but the furry little bastard still got away with one of my green tomatoes.

Now I know where the two missing romas went. It seems I am not destined to get any tomatoes this year but the neighborhood critters are well fed at least.

I had emailed Johnson five days before Josie was contacted by someone claiming to be me. I was looking to report out who was responsible for the posters hanging around Columbia of Emma Sulkowicz and the words “Pretty Little Liar.” There was speculation that Johnson was involved, so I asked him if he had anything to do with the posters or their complementary Twitter account @fakerape. (Johnson has also registered the domain fakeraperegistry.com.)

“I thought we were clear,” Johnson replied. “I don’t answer inquiries from a cat pornography site that doxxed an innocent man for exercising his constitutional rights.” (He was referring to a BuzzFeed story from last fall that reported a member of the fraternity at the heart of the Rolling Stone University of Virginia story had hired a lawyer known for representing college men accused of rape.)

“Good luck on your witch hunt,” he wrote. “I wish you nothing but failure.”

I called Johnson on Monday, about a week after learning about the email sent to Josie. He hung up on me as soon as I explained why I was calling. Then he texted me: 𠇊s a rule I don’t participated in any interviews with BuzzFeed. Cat pornographers aren’t journalists.” Over text message, I asked him three more times if he impersonated me using the address jtes1984@gmail.com. As before, Johnson didn’t take the opportunity to deny he impersonated me using that email address. He restated his refusal to answer the question. I emailed him again to let him know this story was about to be published.

“Once again I do not answer inquiries from BuzzFeed,” he replied. “I would be very careful if you accuse me of committing a crime with the lack of evidence you’ve presented here.”

Again he did not deny the impersonation.

I kept a MicronPC 1ghz Athlon which I got December 2000 running until 2013. Replaced the power supply two or three times, a couple NICs, had three or four hard drives in at the end (using it as a file server) with a PCI RAID card, and installed a Radeon 7500 GPU in it. The thing died again just as I was getting the last parts to build a new rig, didn’t bother to see if it was the PSU again or not and trashed it after removing the HDDs.

You’ve come a long way, baby.
The question is, have you gone up, or have you gone down?

Does “Caitlyn” represent the integration of a man’s personality, or its disintegration? How you answer that question tells us a lot about your stance toward our age - and our future.

In any case, Jenner, who is said to be preparing for “feminization” surgery on his face, might want to speak to Walt Heyer before submitting further to the knife.

Rod, as usual, cannot stand the idea that other people aren’t hung up on his particular sexual peccadillos or obsessed with ancient Greek ideas on what the hell reality is supposed to be. Interesting if you have time to listen to it:

SCOTUSblog on camera: Kenji Yoshino

“I’m expecting a decision that is either all or nothing. And, I expect that the Court will rule that there is a constitutional right that protects same-sex couples’ right to marry.”

Kenji Yoshino, Chief Justice Earl Warren Professor of Constitutional Law at New York University School of Law and author most recently of Marriage Equality on Trial, discusses his impressions of the April 28 oral arguments in Obergefell v. Hodges. Yoshino describes his sense of the Court from the arguments; the major legal arguments made and the relevance of changing rationales opposing same-sex marriage; the question of what level of legal scrutiny the Court may apply; the importance of children to Justices’ thinking about same-sex marriages; what happens next; and what questions from Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., about discrimination based on gender rather than sexual orientation might mean.

Rod Dreher is getting his ontology and teleogy in a twist again over Caitlyn Jenner:

Rod, as usual, cannot stand the idea that other people aren’t hung up on his particular sexual peccadillos or obsessed with ancient Greek ideas on what the hell reality is supposed to be. The comments are the usual mess of “eat popcorn as you watch civilization burn!” becase a transgendered women is obviously the complete frakking end of 2,000 years of Christianity.

I keep wondering how long before he cracks.

It’s not healthy the way they obsess over how other people choose to present themselves. Caitlyn Jenner isn’t effecting their lives at all except she’s showing how butt hurt they get. It’s a beautiful name btw too. One I’d consider if I had a daughter.

No lesbian has ever put even a little pressure on me for sex. I was raped by a heterosexual man. Now what were you saying Ron?

Bigotry is pretty much part of the libertarian deal.

Once a party is committed to the policy position that the government shouldn’t do anything at all about racism, homophobia, etc., then racists and bigots will be attracted to that party in exactly the same way that flies are attracted to shit.

The Pauls are so wrong about so much, and yet Rand’s devastating critique of the GOP’s role in creating the current crisis in the Middle East couldn’t be more perfect. It will be a joy to see mindless bellicosity directly challenged in the GOP debates.

He won’t be allowed in. That’s the whole purpose of what Fox is doing with ignoring his poll numbers. They’re setting up to officially call him a RINO and say he can’t play with the rest of the numbnuts.

My feeling on his analysis is this:
1) The enemy of my enemy is my enemies enemy. No more. No less.
2) A broken clock is never right: it is always broken.

I didn’t hear they are ignoring Paul’s poll numbers; I don’t see how they can do that. While I would obviously never vote for him, it would be a shame to exclude the one GOP candidate who isn’t just spouting the party line.

There do seem to be issues over at the Faux News Fun House regarding Rand Paul. And it is certainly true that Murdoch/Ailes have no use at all for Rand Paul and would very much prefer that he not be included in the GOP debates.

The 2nd Amendment is supposed to guarantee the public can form a functioning militia in the event of emergency.

Anyone who lacks the physical or mental capacity to serve in that function therefore has no right to a firearm.

Late last week, Maddow had on some GOP something-or-other to discuss the Krazy Klown Kar. The guy actually told Maddow that the Democrats have the opposite problem of not having enough voices to have a legitimate debate.

Rachel laughed and thanked him for his concern trolling (yes, she used that phrase.)

News flash for conservatives: having 3 non-white males, out of a crowd of potentially 16 people, spouting the same insanity isn’t diversity.
