Buzzpo Pulls an NRO: Posts Photo From African Missionary’s Site Labeled as “Welfare Queen”

Here we go again….
Wingnuts • Views: 27,015

After the recent story about NRO doctoring a photo was posted, the link to it was posted on fark.com. Fark user “Mr. Cat Poop” commented that he also exposed a similar case of deceitful use of a photo by using reverse image search.

An alleged welfare queen

Buzzpo smear story (linked via donotlink.com)

This was shared thousands of times on Facebook, where “Mr. Cat Poop” first saw it, including such Facebook pages such as Positively Republican, where the comments on the story are filled with disgusting racist comments.

“Mr. Cat Poop” found the original source of the pic. It’s from a post from 2009 by Jillian Gray, a Christian missionary visiting Swaziland for a year. The picture is of an inspiring woman, Make Peggy. Make translates in Swazi to “Mother.” Here is what Jillian wrote about Make:

“Make is a short, stout, loving, black woman of God who thinks my name is Angeline and won’t call me anything different. She has been given a piece of Gods heart for the mistreated, misused, and malnourished children of Swaziland and has opened up her home in the township to help as many as she can. There are currently ten children she looks after who, as I said, all have backgrounds of rape, abandonment, and mistreatment. For many she had to fight to get permission from the parent(s) to look after their child while others wilfully gave them to her. A few of the kids didn’t have parents at all, were completely alone and had to beg for food. Without the open arms of Make Peggy they would probably be dead. Her home is truly a place where Christ resides and is given the glory.”

Make Peggy, a selfless, compassionate, caring woman who we all should aspire to be more like

The scum who purposely posted this pic in an attempt to stir up racial hatred and resentment should read the Bible verse that Jillian posted on her bio page.

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no man than this, that a man would lay down his life for his friends. -John 15:12-13.

Wow. Not only deliberately conflating blacks and “welfare queens,” but smearing a genuine Christian to do so. Well done, Right-Wing Rage Machine! You truly are the scum of the earth!

2 HappyWarrior  Jun 2, 2015 12:12:40pm

This actually bothers me more than what NRO did because of the subject of the smear. Make Peggy by the way sounds like an amazing woman. Far more Christian in belief and action than the “Christians” defending Josh Duggar and denouncing Caitlyn Jenner.

That and it’s pretty obvious all those children aren’t siblings. But when you’re looking for confirmation bias and a chance to smear black people, facts and context are a bitch.

Come on, we all know that facts are completely irrelevant to a conservative who wants to get a smear going. Especially the ‘Welfare Queen’ smear, since it simultaneously hates on both poor people and black people.

About BuzzPo - BuzzPo

buzzpo.com is a right-leaning blog that believes, as Andrew Breitbart said, culture is upstream of politics. We also love people, freedom and life and engage in politics because it’s necessary to protect people, freedom and life. The site was started by Todd Herman and Chris Widener, both entrepreneurs, conservatives and activists, as their personal blog … it has accidentally grown into more of a community. Chris is a world famous public speaker and New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author; his books have been translated into thirteen different languages and his counsel is sought by some of the most successful business leaders. Todd is a former Microsoft executive, co-founder and CEO of the first Internet radio network, founder and CMO of SpinSpotter, a Demo god award-winning technology company, and co-founder of Crowdverb (acquired by WPP); he also agreed to serve for a term in Washington D.C. as the Chief Digital Strategist of the RNC (and that is why his hair is graying.)

Gore was a veteran too. Really the attacks on Kerry’s service record I think really showed me what the Republican Party and right wing ideology is all about. They tried to justify by saying that Kerry’s later anti-war activities made it far game but that’s bullshit and quite frankly the tactics the Nazis did on pacifists and socialists in their rise to power.

Sure but I am wondering the reaction if it came out that happened for sure. Somehow I doubt the “forgive Josh Duggar” crowd wouldn’t be so forgiving towards a consensual sexual act the way they forgive an act of incestuous pedophilia. And that alone shows you what nasty people the Duggars and their supporters are. Huckabee is saying flat out that Caitlyn Jenner transitioned simply to be able to harass women in the showers but he’s defending Josh who actually did sexually assault women. You’d think that there’d be self awareness and maybe a reflection on their bigotry towards LGBT people but nah that’s too much to ask. And then there’s Jim Bob’s platform about what he’d do to people who commit incest and rape.

Why am I not surprised that their defense of the Duggars would amount to “Someone broke the law by making these records public!” Bear in mind these are the same morons who were absolutely sure that Michael Brown had a juvenile record and that it contained one or more felonies.

I was thinking the same thing too Re:Michael Brown but didn’t remember Bry specifically among that crowd. No matter, he never called that out.

I’m not going to condemn a lawyer because of his client. Even the worst offender deserves counsel. However, If Dershowitz does actually sign onto this ridiculous suit, it just furthers my contention that his legal skills are vastly overrated.

That said, I bet CCJ just emailed his old boss and hasn’t actually gotten a reply yet.

Malkin insisted that non-discrimination laws, in this case the Civil Rights Act, represent onerous burdens on business.

“We have seen this increasing narrative of capitulating to unreasonable political correctness over and over and over again,” Malkin said, before criticizing “grievance-mongerers” who “pretend they stand up for the religious liberty of Muslims.”

“There’s something much more insidious and nefarious going on,” she said, mentioning the case of a Muslim woman who felt that an airline singled her out during a flight as a security risk: “The grievance-mongering industry has a very good way of forcing this country to apologize for the freedoms that we do have and in essence what we’re talking about here is the tacit adoption of Sharia law in America.”

She went on to criticize Democrats for trying to “shame people who are financially successful,” who of course, are the real victims of persecution in America.

re: #81 HappyWarrior

Making it very clear that the important thing to them is not what you believe, or what you do, it’s who you know and are allied with. And given their constant claims of holding the high moral ground and being the true patriots it is the very height of hypocrisy.

Senate Approves USA Freedom Act, After Amendments Fail

Before the vote, a displeased Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell criticized the policies of President Obama and said that the Freedom Act weakens America’s ability to protect itself. He also cited an AP article that called the turn of events in the surveillance and spying field as “a victory for Edward Snowden,” the former NSA contractor who released secret information about U.S. spying in June of 2013 (Snowden discussed the Patriot Act today).

After McConnell spoke, Minority Leader Sen. Harry Reid responded by saying that if McConnell is worried about making America look weaker, “he should look in the mirror.”

Reid accused the majority leader of trying to deploy distractions from the real issues, and said that McConnell had also implicitly criticized the House of Representatives.

“I don’t think any of us,” Reid said, “need a lecture on why we’re less secure today.”

What I appreciate about him is that he really does try to live by his word. He also seems to be a genuinely caring guy. I didn’t get that vibe from Francis and John Paul II.

What was Ratzinger’s pope name? Francis is the current pope.

re: #150 The Very Reverend Battleaxe of Knowledge

Well, the last Pope who wasn’t a (total) dick only lived 33 days in office, so Francis had better have his food taster on call 24/7.

Francis survived the Argentine Junta. The curia is a bunch of pikers compared to them.

So it’s not 100%, but it looks like my contract at this agency is going to be made permanent. The COO wants to sit down tomorrow and talk. He’s told me flat out that he wants me to stay on, and that he thinks I have unique skills that he wants to keep here. He’s also got some ideas for what he wants me to be doing moving forward, especially since we’re in a growth period due to some things I can’t talk about, but which are huge.

I’m excited. I can’t wait to see where things go from here.

Mike Huckabee wishes he was a teenage girl. Seriously.

“Not going there” Ah but Mike you did go there, you flat out implied that Caitlyn Jenner is transitioning and now identifies as female simply because she wants to harass women in the shower. So yeah Mike you did go there, and you again show why you’re a disgusting old bigot who condones child abuse but treats homosexuals and transsexuals like they’re evil. Nice set of morality you got there old sport, how’s your son the dog torturer doing? Maybe we should have asked you about that when you attacked the Obamas’ parenting because obviously they didn’t raise an animal abuser, they must have done a terrible job.//

I’ve got many disagreements with the Vatican and I’ll never be able to call myself Catholic again, but dude survived the murderous, we’s-a-gonna disappear all dissenters junta. I give him props for that.

Francis is making his real changes with things like the new, relatively liberal, Archbishop of Chicago that has the old line’s knickers all twisted.

I had respect for JPII for the same reasons. Really the Junta were a nasty piece of work. They only really fell due to their own arrogance and biting the hand that fed them when they pissed off Thatcher with the Falklands invasion.

Vatican says Ireland gay marriage vote is ‘defeat for humanity’

Yeah that was disappointing. They still have a long way to go but I think the church is making baby steps at least on the issue as opposed to American evangelicals whom like to go to Eastern Europe/Africa and fund groups that want to criminalize being gay.

I know this thread is in the going into history state, but I wanted to bring up something about the whole NR photo controversy that I forgot to do on Sunday.

Did anyone happen to mention the irony involved in that the real photo was shot in a WalMart?

I found that kinda funny. Considering all the parties involved, the political point trying to be made and it all ends up as a WalMart photo.

That is so rich.

Not quite baby steps. Big steps. Calling equality a defeat for humanity (where they could have simply refused to comment) is a big step. Just not in the right direction.

No, that’s a good point heh. I have seen people brought up that it was in Texas though.

Oh great, the pro-Salafists are whining & Abbas is shaking his finger at Hamas:

The Gaza Interior Ministry said Honnor was a criminal who had booby-trapped his house and that “explosive belts, explosive devices and rifle-propelled grenades were found inside”.

A statement posted on a pro-Salafist website disputed the ministry’s account. “The Hamas leadership bears responsibility for this deplorable crime,” the statement said.

Witnesses said Honnor, an activist with a Salafist group, was buried in the black flag with religious inscriptions that is the standard of Islamic State insurgents who have swept other parts of the Middle East.Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ cabinet in Ramallah deplored what it called Honnor’s “execution”.

“Hamas must respect the law and civil rights,” said the cabinet statement, published by the official Palestinian news agency Wafa. “It must not mess with the souls of people. It must cease abolishing security and order and stop trespassing on the authorities of the government and the judiciary.” […]

“You’re the terrorist/criminal!”
“No YOU are!”
“Stop picking on us!”

What a clusterf*ck.

Fair points. I am honestly still shocked that the referendum passed at the rate it did honestly.

Since the thread is dying, I guess going OT is OK:

I don’t know if this will work, but it would sure mitigate a huge annoyance if it did.

They say you can slip this sleeve around your batteries and it will boost their voltage back up to 1.5 as they begin to sag. They might stop working in your device when they drop below 1.3, leaving 80% of the energy in there—then you throw them away. At $10 for a set of four, it might be worth trying.

And nickel-cadmium or nickel-nickel hydrides are 1.2 to start with, so I don’t know how they work at all. By the time you get to four batteries, that’s 4.8 V instead of 6!

Wow, you probably nailed it. The first one wouldn’t have cropped very well (not enough children in it). And the second image goes right to Jillian Gray’s blog so they didn’t even bother taking a few seconds to read about the woman they were about to smear.

And Buzzpo swapped out the picture and issued an apology….

Update: The original image associated with this article has been changed since it was first published. We apologize to anyone whom we may have offended and will be more diligent about sourcing images in the future. The woman featured in the image above has 15 children by three different fathers and continues to expect the taxpayers to support her. Thank you to those who alerted us to our initial mistake.

Mistakes were made. But of course they found an alternate Black woman to put up because we all know there are no White women in that situation… /snark
