Mike Huckabee Pulls the Duggar Family’s Endorsements From His Campaign Site

The ship is sinking

Admitted sex offender Josh Duggar

Megyn Kelly’s nauseatingly delicate and respectful interview with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of the TLC reality show “19 Kids and Counting,” about their son Josh’s molestation of girls as young as five years old, was one of the most disastrous attempts to rescue a reputation I’ve ever witnessed.

There are articles all over the web today about this train wreck, in which the Duggars denied Josh had “molested” anyone, said the girls didn’t even recall being abused, and tried to play the usual “persecuted Christian” role that Fox News continually pushes out to their aging right wing audience.

And today, Talking Points Memo reports that even Mike Huckabee, who stood by the Duggars as the story got worse and worse, has now pulled the Duggars’ endorsements from his campaign site.

Oh Snap! When you loose the creepy old guy who fantasizes about leering at girls in the shower, you know the rats have left the ship.

2 HappyWarrior  Jun 4, 2015 10:27:29am

He of course won’t apologize to those he accused of bigotry that criticized the Duggars nor will he stop sharing their bigoted shared worldview that arguably led to these assaults in the first place.

But here he is with Rick Perry!

Rats deserting the sinking ship.

Now if the family would get the daughters and the babysitter the counseling they should have had a decade ago! And not that Bill Gothard crap which makes girls and women into unwitting temptresses for merely tossing their hair.

I thought the Duggars endorsed Santorum in 2012 (although they’re Protestants and Santorum is Roman Catholic which is usually important in very Fundamentalist circles); But since Huck didn’t run last time Santorum was their fall back.

The tranny wimminz with their big breasts and naughty new lady bits made it all happen! My ontology gets lost in my teleogy every time the liberal media shows me that glossy centerfold of Caitlyn Bruce Jenner with the incredible rack and then I think of those poor Duggar kids who are being victimized by Jenner and that incredible rack, I mean how freaking great are those tits? Those Duggar kids are just being victimized again and again by the liberal media and Jenner and I just can’t stop staring at that rack.

The crying thing with Michelle - it was so rehearsed. These people are sociopaths. About as much conscience as a toaster.

16 Targetpractice  Jun 4, 2015 10:34:09am

Another of those moments that, in text, read all the worse than when initially heard:

“It was more just like a fondling, a touch while they were asleep—for most of them. Then there was two other incidents that were when they were awake. And it was just a bad thing.”

Anybody with even a pee-wee understanding of psychology would see warning signs right there. This is pretty classic behavior, starting off with testing the waters, then getting more bold as he fails to encounter resistance. The only “discovery” Josh was interested in was seeing how far he could push things before somebody stopped him.

20 HappyWarrior  Jun 4, 2015 10:36:58am

It is amazing to me how Huckabee was so quick to bash the parenting of Treyvon Martin and Michael Brown’s folks but not one word of condemnation for Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar for how they raised Josh. Oh I get it, Mike, Josh is a good fundamentalist Christian white boy son of one of your biggest supporters. Really Huckabee in a just world would see his reputation go down in flames for defending these people but instead Huckabee just scrubs their endorsement from his website like he never defended them and he never attacked the people for stating what we definitely know now and that’s Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar threw their daughters under the table to protect their son.

22 lawhawk  Jun 4, 2015 10:38:14am

The Duggars knew how to use their prominence on tv to their advantage and rubbed shoulders with all manner of GOP leaders and luminaries. Huckabee’s going to do his best to sanitize his site of the connections, but the fact is that his statements are public knowledge. Their photos with him are public knowledge. He can’t run from those, but he will surely try to blame all this on the media, rather than on the Duggars’ themselves for how they handled the situation, from the moment the abuse occurred to how they blame everyone but Josh for the abuse he engaged in, and how everyone but the daughters who were abused are the real victims.

The right wingers who are still supporting the Duggars still don’t want to recognize that the daughters are the ones who were abused - who did nothing wrong, and that it was their parents who failed them - who failed to protect them - and that they willingly sought to protect their son who was molesting his sisters and put his wellbeing and future ahead of their daughters who would have to live with this abuse for the rest of their lives.

Add in all the hypocrisy and religious extremism by the Duggars (like how they’d treat someone engaging in incest who isn’t named Duggar, or how gays are the real molesters - who aren’t named Duggar), etc.

As much as the right wing was willing to hold them up as model citizens, the fact is that they are models of all that is wrong with society today - from how television/media looks to exploit these extreme factions around the country, how some religious groups exploit and purposefully extend misogynistic practices that demean women and treat them as second class citizens, and it also points out the pitfalls of holding up anyone as being holier than thou - how often do we see these folks proclaim their religious/social virtues, only to be engaging in all manner of depravity and illegality.

Precisely.

It’s gotta be awfully hard on a woman’s body to birth 19 kids.

As you might guess, information on the dangers of giving birth is not shared very readily. Having an abortion is much safer. Even pregnant women are not told what they should know. My mom’s first kid was caesarian, so every kid after (back then) had to be caesarian also, which make each birth major surgery, which she was never told the risks of. She had 6 more. Turned her sister (my aunt) away from the Catholic church knowing they kept information from women.

That really was the narrative last night, you could see it unfold as the “interview” went on. They were first focused on downplaying what happened, then emphasizing how much Josh had “changed” and had been “forgiven,” then finally acting outraged over the idea that the media would dig up old dirt on them and threatening legal action despite an attorney who was consulted on the FOIA request saying the sheriff had to release the report.

Huckabee distancing himself from the Duggars is not going to do him a bit of good since he is too stupid to avoid sound bites where he expresses an interest (out of context) in showering with high school girls. (Larry Wilmore made a great mock scare commercial with Huckabee and the shower quote.)

My dad’s parents left the church over birth control too. Six kids in all and my Dad was the youngest and Nana’s brother was even a priest but they did not like the church telling them that they couldn’t use birth control. I think this was around the time of the Griswold decision since my Dad left parochial school in the early 60’s and thus became the only child not to graduate from a Catholic high school.

They’re all hers and Jim Bob’s. What’s really crazy is she has children that are younger than their nieces and nephews. Now I had that in my own family but the catch is that my great aunts were the half-sibling of my great aunt’ who had the children. I don’t begrudge big families. Hell I wouldn’t be here right now if not for them but it seems to me that Michelle and Jim Bob spent most of their time creating more Duggars than actually raising them and that’s a problem.

My great-aunt, if she is older than my dad, is just barely so. My grandmother was the eldest of nine.

Which is at least not nineteen, and they were clearly spaced out a bit. Also, I think the baby was a …surprise.

My great-grandmother married my great-grandfather when he was around mid-40s, she was 18. His first wife died in childbirth. So I have aunts and uncles who were a generation older than my grandfather. My great-grandmother lived a full life after my great-grandfather (who I never met) died. She was a bad ass woman. I’d wager they got the questions well in advance and were delivering predetermined answers. I also noticed a lack of much emotion and, unless, I missed it I don’t think they made a formal apology for anything either.

In some instances we could chalk some of this up to a person having limited experience in front of a camera, but that won’t fly with the Duggars.

Yeah, on my cousins’ side of the family, the oldest is in his 50’s and the youngest is still under 30. Given their assumed disdain for contraception, the youngest has several nieces and nephews as old as, or older, than her.

In Republican hypocrisy news…

Last week, Bridget Anne Kelly’s attorney, Michael Critchley, filed a request with the presiding judge to be given the power to subpoena Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher. That’s the law firm Christie hired last January - at public expense - to investigate his administration and produce the so-called “Mastro Report” that exonerated him from any culpability in both Bridgegate and allegations leveled against him by the Mayor of Hoboken relating to Hurricane Sandy relief aid.

Critchley wants to look at the work product - interview transcripts, notes, and so forth - to see what people actually said and whether they square with the final report. Only one problem: Gibson Dunn told Critchley those notes and other work product don’t exist.

And you can bet that, just like the secret email router Scotty’s staff was running or the email server Jeb took home with him, the wingnuts will also forget this story in order to keep pushing “Emailghazigate.”

The real reason people are pissed off about Caitlyn Jenner being called heroic is because ESPN chose her for their ‘courage award’ and people wanted it to go to Lauren Hill the young basketball player or a wounded-vet athlete.

They seem to forget one thing about modern media. Choices are made for hits to drive advertising. Bruce Jenner is an American icon as a Olympic Gold Medalists in the Decathlon. Bruce transitioning to Caitlyn is a huge sports story, and while Lauren Hill is a great story, they went with what would draw the most hits and talk. And that is exactly what it did.

No time to think our media is going to do things any different than what they always do.

But it also makes an easy target for the RWNJs and the fundies to blow it all out of proportion.

No one really cares about the real people involved, they are all going for the ‘hits.’

In the cold calculating part of my brain, I get why Fox and Kelly are dry humping the live grenade that is the Duggars. It’s the kind of scenario that scores a bajillion percent with their viewers: a “wholesome”, Christian family who are being besieged by the “liberal” press and an America who has turned it’s back on the Christian God. Who founded the US with baby Jesus and Washington, apparently.

I guess what’s so frustrating is that Fox has built such a bubble around itself, Kelly acting as their attorney, rather than a reporter, will have zero repercussions. I’d like to think that when scum such as the Freepers and Dim Jim Hoft are starting to recoil in horror, it’s just a matter of time before this blows up in everyone’s face, like a delivery of Acme Rocket Skates to Wile E. Coyote.

If we look at what happened earlier in the year with Bill O’Reilly, though, I think we have our answer. There is hard, non-disputable proof that O’Reilly has spent his professional life straight-up lying to get to where he is now. Everyone knows it, but they go, “Eh, it’s Fox, whaddya gonna do?”

Same thing is going to happen with Kelly. She’s not being a reporter, she’s being an advocate for people who knowingly covered their teen son fondling his elementary school-age sisters.

I mean, Jesus fucking Christ, look at how Fox and everyone else lost their shit over Brian Williams. By that metric, Kelly should be doing weekend weather reports in some third tier market in Montana. She’s helping justify covering up child molestation, for fuck’s sake!

Man, if I were running one of the major news channels, I’d seriously consider making an unambiguous point of pointing out the serious lapse of judgement Kelly, Alies, Fox, etc. are demonstrating with this.

Little girls being fondled and Megyn Kelly is imitating Kevin Bacon in Animal House, telling her audience “Remain calm!!! All is well!!!”

And that right there is why I don’t buy any of the “poor Michelle is totally cut off from the real world” stuff. Yes, she is a submissive, probably abused and brainwashed wife, but it’s not like she hasn’t traveled and been part of many, many confabs (wingnutty, for sure, but still.) It’s not like she’s been totally isolated in the backwoods of Arkansas.

Her isolation is, in part, of her own doing—the “real world” was right there in front of her—she chose to close her eyes, spout her bullshit and rake in the cash.

Jim Bob is indeed terrible, but I give Michelle no pass on her part in the whole sordid mess.

Great point. And it is strange in that it is thought women are more religious and drive men to be religious.

And it needs to be pointed out the huge difference between being spiritual and religious. Religions are man-made political entities. Most the time they have zip all to do with being spiritual.

(I’m sure you know that wrench…just wanted to clarify. So many people think you have to be a member of some club to be spiritual.)

And that reminds me of wingnuts freaking out over something Bernie Sanders said in 1972.

I seem to recall there was an entire genre of romance fiction marketed to women, called “bodice rippers” that started during the ‘70’s. Before that the romance genre consisted of Jane Austen style gentle courtship tales with nothing racier than a hand kiss.

The “bodice rippers” contained soft-core rape scenes and these books were enormously popular with women readers. So maybe women in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s did have rape fantasies.

The genre is still around but not as rapey as it used to be, more like Outlander.

Whoever leaked it may have done so illegally, but publishing the information was not illegal, per my understanding of media law.

re: #111 klys (maker of Silmarils)

Likely? Leaked might be a better term, since it was done without official government approval.

From what I’ve read where people have quoted Arkansas law, the records were police reports, not court records, and because Josh was never charged or arrested, they were subject to FOIA requests and not leaked at all.

Also, somebody somewhere pointed out that, because the reports indicate that the Duggar parents were the ones interviewed, as they refused to have Josh interviewed in those reports, they don’t qualify as juvenile records.

IANAL, but I’ve seen that discussed on several sites.

About those police records.
They were NOT leaked:
Second Incident Report Released Regarding Josh Duggar Sexual Molestation Allegations

SPRINGDALE (KFSM)- A national magazine has obtained a second incident report regarding sexual molestation allegations made against Josh Duggar of “19 Kids & Counting” fame.

In Touch Magazine published the incident report filed with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday (June 3). The report was filed in December 2006. In Touch obtained the document using the Freedom of Information Act.

To view the report and read the In Touch story, click here.

The magazine also FOIA-ed and obtained an incident report filed with the Springdale Police Department in 2006. Read more.

The article also includes a statement from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

re: #137 klys (maker of Silmarils)

Well, it took a while but there are a few defenders popping up on the cross stitch board. One going the “just children exploring” route (she thinks this happened when Josh was 12 and it somehow magically makes it ok…) and apparently the new line of attack is that the retiring police chief is a lesbian who was mad about Michelle’s robo-calls last year and released the records with an agenda.

Just kids playing doctor.

Things is, I was the last of four boys raised in a Catholic house and Catholic educated. Yes…a religious family.

My young summer play days many times were spent at my cousin’s house about one block away from my house. My cousins I played with were both girls. One was my exact age, the other was two years younger.

We played a lot…but we all knew the boundaries and wrongs in getting carried away playing doctor. And that was as young as eight or nine years old and all the way up to us being twelve when we all started doing more strictly boy and girl things with friends of our own gender.

So I don’t buy that kids being kids bullshit. My parents, my older brothers and my aunt and uncle all were very clear on the boundaries. And had I ever done a Duggar, I would have been severely punished by all.

Exactly. But the larger point I was attempting was the religious background of our families. It was driven into us it was wrong. And that is a Catholic background which tends to be fairly liberal and not as fundamental as the Duggar background.

And that point is, where was all that religious right/wrong training for Josh? Why didn’t he have that strong sense of right and wrong instilled in me? Heck, I’m not all that religious, just the effects that linger from my background. I still have a strong right and wrong background.

It makes me think either the Duggars aren’t as religious and strict as they want to portray or worse, Josh learned his behavior from daddy-bob!

As many have been saying…Jim Bob may have much to do with this whole thing, and it is not good training or lessons he may have instilled in Josh. Josh may have been given hints as to how daddy grew up and if anything daddy-bob may have just told him to cool it until he had his own family.

It also makes me wonder if someone shouldn’t be looking at the rest of the boys in the family and get a feel for their thoughts. This may go a lot deeper than just Josh.

Actually, the kind of strictness they practice makes some sort of acting out inevitable. The children cannot date…and they cannot even hug members of the opposite sex (look up “side hug”. Seriously). Their entire view of human sexuality is so warped and distorted that bad things happen since they have no healthy outlet. The real story out of last night was the revelation that the Duggars asked other friends of theirs for advice…and found that everyone else in their clique had the same problem or worse!

Like the old saying goes: Hope springs eternal. Of course, there’s another old saying: Wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up faster.

Said it above but Christie really needs to take better care of himself. To be fair, he hasn’t been one of those dicks when it comes to the first lady’s nutrition program but for someone who talked about losing weight, it doesn’t look like he’s made much effort into doing it. Not trying to be a dick. It’s just obvious that isn’t healthy.

Yeah, it’s weird stuff. I knew a woman in Portland, OR - back when I lived there - who was a Gorean; a kajira (female slave) and she thought it was just the greatest thing ever.

Freaky shit.

Speaking as a member of the kink community I agree.

‘Safe, sane and consensual’ is the motto and the Gorean lifestyle strikes me as none of those things.

Christie is an awful politician, I’m not going to disagree there, but all this focus on his appearance is making me uncomfortable.

We’d be rightly pissed off if the media were doing this to a woman. It’s not cool to do it to a guy either.

I can’t figure out any reason why this has made the news beyond “haha, look how fat he is.”

So maybe that makes me a stick in the mud but as someone who has struggled a lot with body image, I’m going to call it as I see it.

Also speaking of games, Steam has announced they’re instituting a refund policy on downloaded games. Buy a game and realize you just plain don’t like it? As long as you’ve played less than 2 hours in a 14 day period, they’ll refund the money back to your account as credit. You can also return games which don’t work on your system, buggy, etc for a refund.

Because the link between effort put into weight loss and actual results is remarkably variable. Some people can lose excess weight relatively easily, while for others it is simply much more difficult. And I’m not talking about rare syndromes here.

That’s sending a great message to those kids who need to exercise, isn’t it? I’m sure it will help encourage them to join up with a team sport and wear a uniform, so they too can be laughed at.

Wow, that is beautiful… and triggering. My late husband has been gone for more than a decade now but that had me sobbing like his loss was like a month ago. Some things are just never entirely recovered from and you will never be the same person again. I especially related to what she said about the things people say that they sincerely hope will be comforting - they aren’t - and it takes every bit of self control you can muster to not scream. I knew my friends and family meant well and had the best intentions but I ultimately walked away from most of them because it took just too much energy to maintain the brave face they were, in reality, demanding of me with their ongoing platitudes. The pressure was on me to make them feel comfortable. It was emotionally exhausting.

I didn’t intend to carry on. I will suggest to everyone to think about what she said when next you are with someone who is grieving. It’s a difficult place to be in and she offers a lot of wisdom.

The “ginger” thing bothers me for the same reason, even if it’s slightly more innocent.

Anti-gingerism seems to be entirely a parody of stereotyping, since there isn’t any suggestion of negative traits that accompany red hair. That, and the fact that red-haired girls are Hollywood-certified beautiful.

324 CuriousLurker  Jun 4, 2015 1:30:27pm

I was just thinking about this whole Duggar thing. The parents have effectively ruined their son’s life—and possibly the girls’ lives—by trying to cover up what he did. Had they immediately gotten professional help for Josh & his victims, it would have involved the family court and would have surely resulted in sealed records, and the kids would’ve gotten the psychological counseling they needed. This isn’t something you can pray away.

Now that all this has come to light—again, thanks to the parents trying to cover things up, then much later trying to “fix” it on their own—this story is sure to follow Josh Duggar around for the rest of his life, killing any chance at a public career he might have had (I’m guessing he was probably headed for politics, so maybe we dodged a bullet there given his association wit the FRC). Also, no one will want their children around him.

Additionally, they’ve made complete asses of themselves and their strange, cultish brand of Christianity. Group blame may be wrong, but people do it all the time and these people will be blamed.

And what of the girls? Who will help them? How will they cope?

All of this for what? Certainly not for God… I’d say for one man’s ego. For his ambition, his public “honor”, which is now a shambles. His entire family is paying the price for his shitty decisions. You wanna be the boss, king of the family, captain of the family ship? Fine, then you get to shoulder all the blame.

re: #309 allegro

Hands down the most terrifying thing for me about loving my husband, being with my husband …is the thought of losing him.

I am going to save that to reread, and take to heart for relating to other people going through a difficult time.

The issue of group blame here is interesting. Of course it is true that no other family is guilty solely because of similarities they have with the Duggars.

On the other hand, this business of an extremely patriarchal religious cult combined with significant isolation from the rest of society is significant. Simply put, these conditions are a paradise for abusers.

He expressed very clearly in comments from before that period that he was tired of dealing with what he considered fools. And he by that point considered climate change deniers being outright evil since they were directly contributing to the destruction of human civilization as we know it. And choosing that course purposefully instead of ignorance in many cases.

Abrasiveness often seems to run in an inverse proportion with patience. And we’re rarely consistent. My approach is recognizing the “bad day” and avoiding commenting, or being willing to walk away from an engagement that I see little hope of obtaining any gain from continuing the conversation. (E.G. The exchange is being played for “points” and not towards anyone’s opinions actually being modified.)

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. —An albino raven is rare. An albino raven that can talk is even more rare.

That’s why what happened to Pearl, believed to be one of the few birds of this type in the world, was heartbreaking for her handler Madena Bennett.

Bennett of Thousand Oaks, Calif., once joked that caring for the raven “was like living with a unicorn that could talk.” She cares for all types of birds and animal control officials brought Pearl to her. The lack of melanin in her feathers make birds like this targets for predators, explaining why they are so rare. […]

I see that my comment wasn’t clear. For some people who “aren’t even wrong” (e.g., climate change deniers, creationists), severe abrasiveness is a perfectly reasonable response.

Where LVQ went off the rails, IMO, is when the same scorched-earth approach was applied in situations that weren’t simple Good vs. Evil scenarios.

Thanks for this. I can see how saying “it will be OK” would be awful to hear, but I might not have thought about it before. If you care to share, what other things would you suggest people not say, and, perhaps what would be better things to say?

Good question. One of the things that made me crazy was hearing about how strong I was and how well I appeared to be doing. I just wanted to scream “Oh really?! You aren’t seeing me ripping up banana trees with my bare hands or tearing wallpaper off of walls to find a release from my rage. You aren’t seeing me sobbing every evening when I come home from work when I can finally blow. You aren’t in my head dealing with the insanity, questioning every decision because I know I’m insane right now and can’t trust anything I think. You don’t know I made every gun in the house go away because…”

Another one is, perhaps strangely, “is there anything I can do to help?” Or worse ” let me know if there’s anything I can do” because no, there is nothing, not a damn thing and do not put that pressure on me to try to find something to make you feel better. If you want to do something then DO something. Offer a hug… just listen. Don’t back away in fear, just be there and treat me the same way now as you did before.

There are more but suffice it to say that if you feel a platitude start to come out of your mouth like “it will be okay” or for god’s sake “he/she is in a better place” or some shit, just… don’t. The person who is grieving will lead. Follow.

Coroner: Student’s death in police custody a homicide

cnn.com

(CNN)The death of a 21-year-old Nigerian student in an isolation jail cell in Savannah, Georgia, on New Year’s Day has been ruled a homicide, Chatham County coroner William Wessinger said Thursday.

Matthew Ajibade’s cause of death “is listed as blunt force trauma, which was really a combination of several things that were enumerated in his autopsy report by the GBI,” the coroner said, citing “abrasions, lacerations, skin injuries about the head and some other areas of the body. There was some small amount of blood inside the skull case.”

Wessinger stressed that homicide means only that another person was involved. It is not tantamount to murder, though it includes murder, he said.

Nine Chatham County deputies were fired in connection with Ajibade’s death last month, said Gena Bilbo, spokeswoman for the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. Cpl. Maxine Evans and Cpl. Jason Kenny, two of those nine deputies had been on paid leave for “inappropriate actions” in the case, Bilbo said. More

So tired of this hacking bullshit. Is nothing safe?

Actually, the answer to that is yes, nothing is safe. Simply by the very nature of the beast, hackers will always have a leg up on the data providers, because there will always be new hacks that no one has thought of or thought to defend against. That being said, if this data breach turns out to be some clever social engineering or a poorly designed system that is not proof against currently known attacks, that’s a whole other story.

Democrats Get a Primary
Joe Klein

But the populist case against the Clinton-Obama economic policies has real substance as well. It is no coincidence that the fundamental distortion of the American economy, with the deck stacked to benefit the financial sector, also dates back 30 years, when Democratic Congresses began to slip pro-bank provisions into the tax code, reaching a peak during the Clinton Administration with the demolition of the wall between commercial and investment banking and the flagrant refusal to regulate exotic derivative financial instruments—which, in turn, led to the Great Recession.

US officials: Massive breach of federal personnel data

bigstory.ap.org

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press has learned that the Obama administration is scrambling to assess the impact of a massive data breach involving the agency that handles security clearances and employee records.

A congressional aide familiar with the situation, who declined to be named because he was not authorized to discuss it, says the Office of Personnel Management and the Interior Department were hacked. A second U.S. official who also declined to be identified said the data breach could potentially affect every federal agency. More

Would not be surprised, given those agencies, if we’re looking at hacking sponsored by a foreign government.

The collar’s all worn out and the front is kicked about,
And my tails are looking out for better weather.

Where is me bed, me noggy noggy bed,
It’s all gone for beer and tobacco.
I lent it to a whore and now it’s all a-wore,
And the springs are looking out for better weather.

Where is me wench, me noggy noggy wench,
She’s all gone for beer and tobacco.
Her lips are all worn out and her front is kicked about,

New Biblical Guide to Hell for Small Children is Sick and Depraved

Hell is not a place where you can have fun. Hell is not a place where friends gather to hang around.
Hell is the furnace of fire where people go who die in their sins without being saved by Jesus… The people in hell are there forever, without any possibility of relief by the mercy or pity of God.

Who goes to hell? All people born with Adam’s sin in them go to hell if they don’t trust in Jesus… teenagers go to hell, and even little children can go to hell. Remember, little children are not too little to go hell.

There’s more…

Some parents may be thinking that this kind of exhortation to children will give little ones horrible nightmares… It would be better for them to have nightmares now while you teach them about the realities of hell… than to wind up in the reality of the nightmare that is hell. To the Christian parent of young children, I plead with you to… teach your children about hell and the power of God’s wrath. Teach them that Christ is their only hope… Teach them that they are locked in a spiritual cage and that it dangles over the fires of hell.

This is what Warhammer 40K is mocking.

One needs to have a distinctly liberal Christian theology before going to Hell for inadequate profession of belief (i.e. thought crime) is clearly ruled out.

Edited to add: Of course this concept of Hell is evil and depraved in the extreme. It is however, very common.

Man learns amazing lesson in irony after mocking Caitlyn Jenner’s ‘bravery’ in viral Facebook post

The post rocketed across social media over the next day, and has been shared more than 755,000 times - but Coffey said he learned a thought-provoking lesson as he searched the photo’s origins.

In a follow-up post Tuesday, Coffey said he had conducted a quick image search online and simply chose one that fit his words, but he decided after the post went viral to identify the photographer so he could credit his work.

“In an ironic twist, I have discovered that the photo is part of a documentary created by a man who was beaten nearly to death outside of a bar in 2000,” Coffey posted.

The photographer, Mark Hogancamp, spent nine days in a coma and suffered severe brain damage and other injuries, Coffey learned.

Hogancamp coped with his pain afterward by creating an imaginary world set in World War II - where he created the image that went viral years later - but Coffey was gobsmacked by something else he learned.

“Why was he nearly beaten to death by 5 strangers?” Coffey asked. “Because he was a cross-dresser.”

“I could have chosen any one of hundreds of photos depicting bravery, but I chose this one,” Coffey said. “Do I think it was an accident? No, I don’t.”

10 reasons Christian heaven would actually be hell

for hell-believers the alternatives to gloating aren’t a whole lot better: Either the faithful are blessedly blissfully indifferent to the endless suffering of the damned, or their joy depends on them being unaware, meaning ignorance is a condition of their eternal bliss.

Your celestial day (and night) job is to sing God’s praises. - What do the faithful do in Heaven? The same thing the angels do. They worship God and sing his praises. The writer of Revelation even offers us a sample song. In one passage, 24 elders “fall before the one who is seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever; they cast their crowns before the throne, singing, “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created” (Revelation 4:10-110). As one graduate of Evangel College (Assemblies of God) observed wryly, “Having spent some time in N. Korea, where the incessant praise music and propaganda were required and all-pervasive, I sometimes wonder if the dynastic leaders there somehow lifted a page from an older playbook.”

Good conditions that day for a nice tall eruption. :)

Sorry to hear that. My tiny allergies are handled by Nasalcrom used Jan. through April. So lucky not to have others.

re: #20 HappyWarrior

For members of a political party whose battle cry only a generation or two was “better dead than Red!”, TPGOPers sure have learned and perfected the Soviet tactic of attempting to erase “undesirables” from their version of history.

Thought it was my allergies, but I think I’ve got a cold. Was running hot last night, using Mucinex D to keep myself dried out.

The newest spying technique, I suppose.

Editor’s note: The data breach of US government systems announced Thursday is the third major foreign intrusion in the past year, the New York Times notes. In 2014, the White House and the State Department found that their email systems had been compromised in an attack attributed to Russian hackers. And the Office of Personnel Management said hackers targeted the files on tens of thousands of employees who had applied for top-secret security clearances. - Tom

Here’s more info on it if you’re curious, including extra photos.

The angle on the shot there is looking at the Grand Geyser area, across the river.

From my variety of references, the death of the nine-year old (ran off the end of the boardwalk in the steam) is what precipitated the railing being installed.

That looks similar, and lines up with the apparent order of photos - since Castle Geyser was shortly afterwards in the sequence.

Quite seriously-if the United States Government wants to create new jobs. it would start with creating brand new from scratch secure communications infrastructure.-where security is a core requirement and not a bolt-on as the current system is.

yum. Can’t say I’ve tried olive bread ever but I’m always curious about trying new foods.

There was a bakery near us in Herzliya Pituach with a reputation for unreal olive bread. Wife and I got a loaf on our first visit and sampled it in the car. After that we started buying two loaves, so one would get home.
