Sarah Palin Poetry Slam of the Day

Go Vandals!
Humor • Views: 40,886

Sarah Palin’s latest disjointed rant is about NAACP Spokane president Rachel Dolezal, and like every other right winger on the Internets Palin is churning out the bizarre analogies like a Bizarre Analogy Factory. Here’s her wall of gibberish as impressionistic free verse, because it really is better this way for everyone.

I SHOULDN’T LAUGH!
A Sarah Palin joint

Ok,
I’m sorry.

I shouldn’t laugh…
this hard.

I know
this isn’t
a victimless crime,
what this white chick
perpetrated.

BUT
it’s a most crystal
clear picture of
so many screwed up things
we’ve let society adopt as

the norm.

Namely,
the practice
nowadays
of judging someone

not based on character,
but on skin color.

Our original
civil rights freedom fighters
are rolling
in their graves
over the backward steps we’ve taken lately.

It’s
politically incorrect
to call out Elizabeth Warren
for
falsely claiming she’s
American Indian,
or dinging Obama
for just making up his
former multi-ethnic girlfriend,

and I guarantee I’ll be branded a racist
for laughing at this Rachel Dolezal story.

Whatever.

Dolezal is
an unsatisfied
lily white leftist
who believes
the only thing less politically correct
than being
a white girl
is to be
a white guy
today.

Can’t help but
be preemptively amused

as I post this
and invite
Dolzel’s defenders wrath
to aim and miss
at we who won’t
put up with
political correctness destroying
truth in America.

Oh, and on
a personal note,
I can finally
look forward to
the Left’s
positive comments about
a scholar’s association with
college
in Idaho!

After
all that high-falutin’ criticism for
choosing a good school that
I could afford to attend while
working my way through,
graduating college
debt-free,
I can’t wait
to hear
the former mockers of Idaho
now defend
the integrity of
that great state’s
academia!

Go Vandals!

[wild finger snapping beatnik applause ensues]

Uneducated freak full of hate.

She talks about her time at the University of Idaho. Was that her #1 stop or the #5 stop.

Holy shit!! She really said that. I figured somebody was just making a stoopid poem based on what she might say.

this is why we cannot have nice things! I looked at the Facebook post and saw more than 33K in “Likes”. we can not agree that Palin is unfit for office or that humans are causing Climate Change…

Just for the heck of it, I went to the Stonekettle blog and went back to 2008. Jim Wright just tore John McCain apart for a lot of things, but especially for picking her.

Remember she went to Hawaii first but didn’t like not being in the majority.

But Palin’s father, Chuck Heath, gave a different account to Conroy and Walshe. According to him, the presence of so many Asians and Pacific Islanders made her uncomfortable: “They were a minority type thing and it wasn’t glamorous, so she came home.”

The right wing weirdo who shot up that Dallas police station had a Disqus account where he posted a ton of insane comments on right wing blogs.

The right wing sites are nurturing and encouraging and inciting these loons, with constant talk about 2nd Amendment remedies and xenophobic rants and anti-government craziness, and some of these delusional creeps are going to take it to the next level and commit violence.

34 jaunte  Jun 14, 2015 7:24:40pm

Look for a strong lobbying effort to locate the depository in Southlake, TX.

Storage fees will be charged, perhaps generating revenue for the state. For instance, Texas pays about $1 million a year to store its gold in New York, Capriglione said.

Capriglione said developing rules for the depository could take six months. But it could be a whole new industry for the state, he said.

“What I’m really hoping to do is to create a central storehouse of commodities,” he said. “I’m hoping we can start working on it as soon as the governor signs off on it.”

re: #49 Lidane

I’ve lived in MN all my life, and I can tell you without hesitation that driving on snow is a piece of cake compared to driving on ice. We very rarely have ice storms up here so we find it as horrid as you do, but if they happen anytime between Halloween and Memorial Day, there’s usually enough salt residue on the roads to help melt it.

step #1 acknowledge driving in the snow sucks
Step #2 wait long enough that all the idiots who forgot step one to crash
Step #3 go slow, give your self extra room to stop (like seriously 10 cars lengths) and don’t come to a stop unless you need to, especially on inclines.

The “really secure facility” is the problem. About 3 decades ago someone built a “secure storage facility” in the Denver area. The supposed advantage was that your valuables would be accessible to you 24/7, not just during bank hours. Need I say that within a year, it was burgled and it closed.

I always poke fun at my brother and SIL when there’s a snowflake spotted in ATX and the whole city shuts down. I guess the chances of snow/ice/below freezing temps never came into consideration when all those raised highways were being built over an aquifer (so can’t use salt, just sand). ;)

I learned how to drive in Chicago. My dad, wise man that he was, took me to the high school empty parking lot a couple of icy Sunday afternoons and made me put the car into spins so I learned what it felt like and how to deal with it. Those lessons saved my ass several times.

I just finished reading the Jeb Bush article someone linked to earlier today:

“There’s a bias against him — that he’s another Bush, that somehow he’s a moderate — that isn’t fair and that he has to work to overcome,” said Andrew H. Card Jr., a Bush family friend who was White House chief of staff for Mr. Bush’s brother George W. Bush and transportation secretary for their father. “The key thing is he will have the financial resources, and the political maturity, to take the time to try to win people over.”

Elizabeth Warren never expected any special treatment for her (as it turns out, imaginary) Native American blood. The only reason right-wingers can imagine for admitting any non-Northern European ancestry is to get some kind of Affirmative Action grift—as they do every day just for being what they are.

Here’s her writeup of the piece on her blog.

Triptych with collaborative poetry by published writer, Dr. Josh Dolezal. First Panel: Absence. Second (middle) Panel: The Shape of our Kind. Third (final) Panel: The Return
40” x 90”
Acrylic on Panel, Beautifully Framed as one unified piece
Accompanied by 3 poems that interact in a call-and-response dialogue with the paintings

If it’s intended to be an homage to Turner she’s definitely leaving that for the art history majors in the audience to infer.

I take issue with calling the rest of what has come to light “other crap.” She hijacked a story that wasn’t hers, reported fake hate crimes to the police, and lied about her background repeatedly to get multiple positions that otherwise would have gone to people who didn’t lie about who they were. I especially find the civilian oversight board ombudsman position she took under false pretenses is deeply troubling considering how entrenched structural racism still frequently allows police across the US to needlessly kill black people with impunity.

Of course, the author of the book I’m reading now (for my book club) thinks Alberta will secede from Canada and become a US state, causing the collapse of Canada as a country, so that may not help.

If she did the ombudsman job well, I wouldn’t have any objections—it’s up to her NAACP superiors to decide how they feel about it. I’ll defer to them. The fake hate crime reports would be bad—if true. Kind of smells like disinformation to me, but if it’s substantiated, then yeah, that would be damning.

Her mental stability certainly seems to be in question, but that can be said of a lot of us….

My grandfather was Canadian, from a small fishing village in Novia Scotia. I did’t know until I was an adult that he was an ill eagle in the US, having snuck across the border about 1910. I’ve wondered if that could open a Canadian door for me. Probly not, but I’ve been tempted to check it out.

Yeah well I do. I don’t believe it’s right to just glibly dismiss the value of having someone who grew up black in America on every police oversight commission. This isn’t some academic “in prinicple” argument regarding the merits of affirmative action hiring. This is an issue that affects the lives and safety of real people in an already marginalized community.

Keeping the million dollar a year rental fees in-state is a reasonable explanation, but as usual with Abbott, the reasonable is wrapped up in a cocoon of pandering to the crazies.

Question is how much will their depository cost, and how much per year in maintenance fees after that. Yes, it might be keeping fees in-state, but what’s the approximate ROI if you spend $20 million to build it and then $1.5 million per year in maintenance? Starts into pennywise and pound foolish territory. (Though I’m sure there will be sweetheart deals involved, so there will be benefit for the politico’s buddies.)

I’ve actually been twice myself- first to study abroad in Galway where I also have familial ties and then as part of a trip I did last year so I could see the Cliffs of Moher and tour Dublin. Beautiful place and honestly some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. But yeah I imagine it would be tough to find the documents. I didn’t realize how long my Irish ancestors had been in country before I started my research. I had assumed they came over around the Civil War or maybe just after but nope turns out that G3 Grandfather from Down came over in the late 1810’s and had raised a family by the time the Civil War broke out. It’s also how I found out that side wasn’t exclusively Irish as he had married a woman whose parents emigrated from Alsace during the Washington years.

I don’t sell my “original” patterns but if I wanted to, I would’t feel as though I was ripping anyone off. If my new pattern was still pretty close to one that inspired it, I would credit it. Yeah there’s a lot of benefits that come with marriage. By denying same sex couples marriage equality, you are denying them the same rights that married straight couples get legally. It’s why it’s an outright lie for opponents of SSM to claim that gay couples are not being discriminated against. Without marriage rights, there is no hospital visitation rights which is huge, no legal protection in regards to testimony, etc. I remember some homophobe telling a gay classmate of mine that he just wanted marriage equality for the “benefits” marriage brings and I just remember it pissing me off for the absolute heartlessness of the statement. I have to say as a millenial- older one at that our generation while it deserves credit for shifting views, I think more credit needs to go to younger kids today. I got a fourteen year old brother. His friends and this is a much more conservative area than where I was at that same age are much more tolerant when it comes to gay people than I and many of my friends were at that age. I always laugh when the wingnuts go “Well how do you explain a gay couple to the children?” Children seem to be the most tolerant of gay couples I’ve seen because I think the simple way kids approach thing. They see two people in love and think they should be happy and I am inclined to strongly agree.

You only deserve those if you endure a loveless, sexless marriage with a person of the opposite sex.

I’m hoping the series will be available on Netflix one day. If so, watch it. It’s one of the best to ever appear on teevee.

Let them secede. Then they get to figure out how to establish their own currency (none of this using the US dollar, guys), establish new treaties, secure their own border with Mexico AND the US, pay for their own defense, and then figure out how citizens will handle their new citizenship as they will no longer be considered US citizens. And so corporations who are headquartered in Texas will have to figure out whether it will be in their best interest to stay in Texas or rehome back to the United States. Will American Airlines or Southwest Airlines be the New Republic of Texas’s flag carrier-of course, there will have to be new air space agreements negotiated as well.

This won’t be no Czech and Slovak separation.

The next day, Uber told its drivers to keep away from such protests. The Financial Times reports that Uber drivers in Hangzhou received a message imploring them: “Please don’t wreck the good urban environment you have all worked so hard to help build… If you are at the scene, leave immediately.”

More damningly, the message added that there would be consequences for those who didn’t follow instructions, and that Uber would track drivers’ GPS devices to make sure they comply. These measures, reports the WSJ, are intended to “maintain social order.” Not something you want to hear from an employer.

I like how even when they’re trying to comply with regulatory authorities Uber’s management can’t help but come off like creepy bullying psychopathic cockbags. It’s like they only have one gear setting, abuse of power. The best part is that Uber’s biggest champions, libertarians, constantly warn us about the government’s spying and tracking abilities while gleefully wearing a programmable transponder that informs this absolute monstrosity of a corporation everything about their daily movements.

The Federal Reserve is very careful.

All bars brought into the vault for deposit are carefully weighed, and the refiner and fineness (purity) markings on the bars are inspected to ensure they agree with the depositor instructions and recorded in the New York Fed’s records. This step is vital because the New York Fed returns the exact bars deposited by the account holder upon withdrawal—gold deposits are not considered fungible.

Following the verification process, the gold is moved to one of the vault’s 122 compartments, where each compartment contains gold held by a single account holder (meaning that gold is not commingled between account holders). In rare cases, small deposits are placed on separately numbered spaces on shelves in a “library” compartment shared by several account holders. Each compartment is secured by a padlock, two combination locks and an auditor’s seal. Compartments are numbered rather than named to maintain confidentiality of the account holders.

I guarantee you there’s no way that Texas is going to store their gold any more securely than this or at less cost. They’ll have to create their own vault storage facility, staff it, insure it, all that shit. Basically Abbot wants to reinvent something that already exists, does it’s job exceedingly well and for which the world has absolutely no additional demand. No government on earth will send Texas their gold for storage over the solid track record and iron clad reputation of the NY Fed. His plan is monumentally stupid.

ALAMEDA — A giant purple blob from the sea — a slug — is invading East Bay beaches and waterways this summer to the wonder and curiosity of beach combers and naturalists.

It’s no danger to people — unlike the tar-like “Blob” in the classic 1958 science-fiction movie about an alien goo that devours everything in its path.

These California sea hares are harmless plant eaters, but their big size and unusual abundance this year is turning heads at the shorelines at Crab Cove in Alameda and Miller Knox Regional Park in Richmond, and also Lake Merritt in Oakland and Tomales Bay in Marin County.

One Alameda beach visitor called police to report he had spotted a human heart sprawled in the sand.

Giant sea slugs have been washing up in some East Bay beaches in unusual numbers this summer. (Morgan Dill)

1) Meat for the wingnut right, Ron Paul fans, etc. — “Texas has its own gold!”

I do wonder if their real underlying goal is to get back to the world where you hired servants to do everything and said class knew their place. Social status based on what you did, whether you had an leisure time, and only those who should be educated were educated. Defacto reestablishment of a sort of lesser nobility.

Or settle at a minimum for cooks, maids, and housekeepers being around, affordable, and *happy* to be given a job and being available to be bossed around.

(One thing to notice in movies from the 50s and 60s is how many middle-class couples have a cook or housekeeper, especially if the wife is acting in a semi-professional role; e.g. doing non-home work.)

“In short, the interest of the United States in the even-handed application and enforcement of its labor laws must prevail over the interest of church members who attempt to transport a vocational training program into industrial and commercial environments where children, save for their ages, are indistinguishable from other employees.”

re: #211 The Vicious Babushka

I have never watched Game of Thrones. I tried reading the books but couldn’t get past the first 50 pages.

Now I understand there is some butthurt on Teh Internets because some beloved character was killed off?

Stabbed a bunch of times, last seen lying on his back in the snow not moving, much blood running from underneath his body….

But I’m not convinced he’s dead. At least, not really permanently dead-dead.

Yeah, I don’t think they’re going to kill off that particular character…of course, I’m not sure how he’s going to survive either.

Are there any characters who make it alive to the last chapter of the last book that’s been published? Or is this a multi-generational series where people die naturally?

re: #236 The Vicious Babushka

The books only take place over a year or two, the series’ timeframe is a little longer (3 or 4 years IIRC), but that’s only to adjust for the aging of some of the teenage characters.

Several of the characters killed this season are still kicking in the books (up to the end of A Dance with Dragons).

I think in-show time runs similar to real-world time (so 5 years since it started?) — but so far nobody, not even the very old people, has died a natural death. Old men keep getting in sword fights until they’re too slow to be good at it anymore…

When we had some Amish helping with renovation where I work I saw a few young kids (looked 14 - 16 years old) working and this was during the school year. So they were being homeschooled according to their religion.

I live about 30 miles from the Amish guy ABC interviewed from Harrisville that was fined. But there are many more local to me. Our local Walmart even built a pole barn so they could park their buggy and horse out of the weather while shopping. A friend of mine worked at the Walmart and they wouldn’t let him park his Harley out of the weather in the barn :-)

What’s up with the shark attacks in the water off the coast of North Carolina???

Two kids attacked and lost arms. I think I heard there are some questions on how authorities are handling the warnings, etc.

NBC News - Two Kids Lose Arms in Separate North Carolina Shark Attacks

A 16-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl lost their left arms and suffered other serious injuries in separate shark attacks in Oak Island, North Carolina, authorities said Sunday night.

The kids, who weren’t identified, were upgraded from critical to fair condition after surgery and were stable at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, said Martha Harlan, a spokeswoman for the hospital. The girl’s left arm was amputated below the elbow, and she suffered lower leg tissue damage, Harlan said, while the boy’s left arm was amputated below the shoulder.

No problem, I was sort of wondering if you had heard the complaints that no warning went out and the kid attacked a bit later just down from the first attack might have been out of the water if there were warnings.

On an NBC News report earlier a guy (I think he was local sheriff) said something like “Hey, it’s the ocean. It does happen. Stay out of the water after 4 PM.” Seemed a little unconcerned by it all.

Sharks and Global Warming

Global warming has made it difficult for sharks to continue living their peaceful existence. It has also increased the tensions among them and humans. As the temperatures of the water increase, the sharks may move into new locations where they will be more comfortable. This means they can be in areas where people are fishing, boating, and swimming. Sharks have been able to evolve for millions of years. Yet they never had to deal with humans on such a large scale before in order to do so either.

Sharks also have to move in order to find plenty of food. Due to global warming many of their food sources may be in short supply. As a result they have to travel further and further to find what they are looking for. You will find more sharks in the swimming areas of California and Florida than ever before due to these changes. The sharks aren’t out to get humans as many fear though. Instead they are merely doing what they instinctively know in order to survive.

Along with global warming more people are enjoying the warmer temperatures. They definitely want to spend time outdoors and in the water when it is very warm outside. This means more people continue to invade the space that was once home to only the sharks. People take over these areas in large numbers, but then want to complain that sharks are attacking. The entire picture here doesn’t reflect what is really going on.

And also probably affecting the shark’s current food supply by our actions as well. If we’re competing with them for fish, then maybe they substitute long pig. And with the warmer waters the squid are moving north as well.

Though, if I recall, the tiger and great white shark attacks in Hawaii and California are from humans essentially emulating wounded seals to a certain degree.

It has nothing to do with impairment or not. Marijuana use is still a federal crime. Until and unless that changes there isn’t even any ambiguity as suggested by the unanimous decision. Nothing else people have mentioned, alcohol, political affiliation etc is a federal crime.

This is the problem that occurs when states try to usurp federal power whether it be to legalize marijuana or impose their own immigration rules.

A blogger who pleaded guilty in a conspiracy to breaking in to a nursing home and shooting unauthorized video of the ailing wife of a U.S. senator was sentenced Monday to serve more than two years in prison.

Twenty-nine-year-old Clayton Kelly of Pearl, Mississippi, shot the video of Sen. Thad Cochran’s then-wife in 2014.

On Monday, Mississippi Circuit Judge William Chapman gave Kelly the full five-year maximum sentence, but he’ll be in prison for half that time. The rest is on probation.

Images of Rose Cochran, who had dementia, appeared online briefly during a tough Republican primary. Investigators say Kelly was one of several people who conspired to produce the video suggesting Thad Cochran was having an affair.

I do wonder if their real underlying goal is to get back to the world where you hired servants to do everything and said class knew their place. Social status based on what you did, whether you had an leisure time, and only those who should be educated were educated. Defacto reestablishment of a sort of lesser nobility.

That is their goal.

Let me tell you a little story.

Last time I tried to get into the work force I was working as a janitor. The place I worked at I’ve mentioned before. It was a ‘cultural place’, sort of a mall filled with art galleries, fancy restaurants along with office space for theatre groups and such. It was actually a lovely area.

However the hours I was given were ridiculous. Eight until three, no break for lunch.

Since that could mean as much as ten hours between meals and I’m not much of one for petty rules I’d come in early and leave late while taking a break for lunch. I’d take lunch at this lovely coffee shop they had there. I’d buy a coffee and sit at one of the tables to enjoy my sandwich.

That didn’t last long. I was shortly told I was there to work and not to do that any more.

This didn’t make any sense. A couple of days before I had cleaned a toilet that hadn’t been cleaned in years and had been used during those years by homeless people as it was accessible to them. Biohazard is the most accurate description of that particular facility. I made sure I worked the amount of hours I was supposed to.

It made no sense.

Then I realized I was ‘the help’ and ‘the help’ are not supposed to use amenities meant for proper people.

I didn’t last long after that. The urge to choke the living shit out of the people I worked for was becoming to strong to ignore.

Polar bears now eat dolphins, thanks to global warming

cbsnews.com

Faced with a rapidly changing habitat, polar bears are adapting with a new entrée: For the first time, a polar bear was seen preying on a white-beaked dolphin carcass that had been trapped in the ice in Svalbard, a group of Norwegian islands in the Arctic Ocean.

In April 2014, a male polar bear with a full belly was spotted near a recently devoured white-beaked dolphin, which could have weighed 120 to 680 lbs. (54 to 308 kilograms) and measured 5 to 9 feet long (1.5 to 2.7 meters), the researchers said in an article published online June 1 in the journal Polar Research. The bear was also seen with another white-beaked dolphin’s thawing carcass, which he was likely saving for a later meal.

These dolphins rarely venture so far north in the Arctic; they prefer the sub-Arctic, which has less sea ice and more open water. “If it had been a more usual sea-ice year, I do not think the dolphins would have been that far north in the spring,” said Jon Aars, primary author of the study and a research scientist at the Norwegian Polar Institute. Probably the correct ruling. Hey, do you want police or bus drivers, or employees in a dozen other occupations, smoking marijuana during off-hours?

Sure, why not? Do you have reefer-madness? Most of us don’t support the tyranny of the insane anti-marijuana laws these days.

They’re a party of dicks for a bunch of dicks. The GOP and right have offered no viable replacement for ACA. They just want it gone. What to me is most telling is when you describe ACA without calling it Obamacare, most people even wingnuts think it’s a good idea and then you go “Hey that’s what we call Obamacare” and then the right immediately turns against it. The right was not against ACA on principle at all, they were against it because of who pushed it. If a Republican president had pushed ACA into law, they would be applauding it and calling it a Nixon in China moment for health care reform.

True but I don’t get how someone can be convinced that SSM being legalized will mean mass imprisonment for Christians when we’ve seen in nations such as your own native Canada that just isn’t the case. My retort to those who say “God will stop blessing us if we allow gays to marry” is to remind them that God should he exist allowed slavery to persist for 75+ years after the ratification of the Constitution and blacks to treated as officially second class citizens in some parts of the country for nearly another century after that and didn’t seem to do anything with the genocide of the Native Americans but yes a gay couple getting the same rights under the law will be what finally sets him off. If that’s the case frankly I hope there isn’t a God. But fortunately, I think if there is a God, God has more perspective than that.

Until recently being white, Christian, straight and male meant you had the power. At the minimum you yourself might not have much power but the group you belonged to did. The group could define how the world worked. Everybody else could sit down and shut up or suffer for getting out of line.

That power is eroding and they really don’t like it.

UK to fast-track legislation aimed at stopping people who take girls abroad to undergo female genital mutilation over school holidays - @TR_Foundation

LONDON, June 15 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - The British government will fast-track legislation intended to target people who take girls abroad to undergo female genital mutilation (FGM) so it is in place before the school summer holidays, Prime Minister David Cameron said.

Under the new FGM protection orders, people suspected of trying to take a girl abroad for FGM will be asked to surrender their passport and other travel documents.

Those who breach the orders may be imprisoned for up to five years, a spokeswoman for the prime minister told the Thomson Reuters Foundation. More

Yeah, I’d rather install a 2D treadmill for movement, because I’m really into VR, but for most people a controller will be must have. Samsung sells a console/PC style controller for Gear VR. If you turn with a controller, you’re asking for motion sickness (fortunately I’m immune), but for forward/back movement it’s essential.

Even phone-based VR is good, even though it’s only phone-style games. The headsets and games for PC are going to be unbelievable.

That also plays into all the other games. Having radicals on the other side acting as badly as you say the entire group is plays into your rhetoric.* And that also makes it easier to do the propaganda of fear to play up the race issues, need for “strong” government, law & order, etc. that make repression easier and painting political opponents as weak. Not to mention the running distraction from the class war that is really going on.

A lot of worthy causes go off the rails when extremists get involved with a movement and alienate sane people. See the Republican party for an example. They take something somewhat reasonable, raise it to an extreme, then add a whole lot of crazy beliefs as they get caught up in their own dogma.
