Here’s a wacky little short film I predict you’re gonna love. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll believe a sofa can sing. (Actually, it doesn’t sing very well at all.)

Joe (Matt Jones) is moving in with his girlfriend - which means having to get rid of his old treasured couch, a symbol of his bachelorhood. When he begins to change his mind about moving in with her, his couch comes alive to show him the real ‘cushion’ in his life.

I know I shouldn’t be surprised by the media playing stupid, but the way the so-called Trump candidacy is being reported makes me sick.

Considering this man’s 15+ year history of pretending to run for office, nobody should take this man seriously for a single moment until he does the paperwork. No, handing the press a document that states “I am worth NINE BILLION DOLLARS!!!!11!!!” is not the same as financial disclosure. The fact ANYONE is willing to take this bloated idiot at face value is shameful.

Rachel Maddow was the one and only journalist yesterday to do the math: this clown has 100 days before he is required to actually file all the forms. That means he can, and likely will, participate in the first two debates just as a goof.

This should probably be paged, but I don’t really want to spend another minute thinking about this.

I thought it was pretty damn funny that my local FOX affiliate (WTTG in Washington, D.C.) was promoting it, then at the end of the segment, they revealed the World Cup is airing on Fox Sports.

I was watching the segment wondering why they were promoting the Womens World Cup and eventually decided they had to have a stake it. I was glad to see I was right. :)

Evening Lizardim from the cool, calm, and beautiful wild north country. For those who have been eagerly awaiting the next installment of the Saga of the Land Yacht, I brought it home on Saturday. After a few tweaks, the engine is running smoothly and the car is driving beautifully. Just gotta get it cleaned up, then begins the long game, where I find projects I can afford to fix and fix them as I have time and money. In the meantime, Mrs. Fish and I will enjoy our classic car and appreciate all the work it took to get it into our garage. How go things among the lizardfolk on this overcast evening?

Agreed, but it doesn’t feel contrasty enough to and, depending how someone has their screen settings (my Win8.1 laptop is very washed out), what little contrast there is could disappear. I’d go just a tad darker on the background—like maybe #e7e7e7 or #e6e6e6.

Yeah I see yours fine, but mine remains a button after I post and I have to click it to see the video. It displayed the same behavior in Opera (not logged in, default settings—i.e. no script or ad blockers). Weird. It’s been like that for me for weeks now, I just never mentioned it.

What about putting some kind of photo or other graphic as a background so it doesn’t look so empty on large monitors? It doesn’t have to be something in color and doesn’t have to always be the same—it could be grayscale or a subtle duotone. Something abstract could work too.

Yeah, but you’re basically a Mac person, right? I think a lot of Windows people stay in full screen. I know I do most of the time. If I have another active window, like Tweetdeck, it’s usually open horizontally across the bottom of the screen. The only time I tile my windows is when I’m doing something like working on spreadsheets (yuck).

That’s what I usually do too, but it’s nice when a website is able to go full-screen using the whole canvas if the user chooses to do so.

I’m here because of the smart, interesting people, not the HTML, so it doesn’t really matter to me if LGF doesn’t do full-screen well, but if you have the time on your hands to write the code, you could go to three or four columns to make the site look a little better on the desktop. Maybe it’s not worth the time with so many people on mobile these days.

The new format looks kinda strange with the emptiness on either side. If it were on a sheet of paper, I’d say the left and right borders were too wide —especially because the masthead goes from far left to far right.

Any chance of widening the text areas to make the side “gray” borders narrower? Or putting a wide green border on the sides?

Skimming the thread as I’m working on a deadline editing project—see the shooting in Charleston has been discussed—haven’t read everything. My friends were in Charleston for a Hillary event and were about 2 blocks away having dinner.

Haven’t talked to them yet—just got a quick email. US Today saying multiple fatalities—none of the other stuff I’ve seen says that—

I definitely agree but perhaps the Treasury Dep’t didn’t want to have two bills without presidents. I definitely do for all my faults with Hamilton do like Hamilton more as a historical figure than Jackson. Hamilton was an opponent of slavery and quite visionary about economics. More so than Jefferosn. It’s said that we achieve Jeffersonian goals by Hamiltonian means.

I think what made me lose some points though with Bernie is that I voted yes I would continue the NSA for allies and he’s against that. Catholics and Protestants were each absolutely determined that their church should be the one to run the State.

The whole point of our 1st Amendment was to say “uh… how about no church. None of them. Let’s not spill oceans of blood trying to decide which one, we’ll just say no to any that exists or ever will.”

I wager to say it’s probably part of what brought some of my family here. I am almost positive my GX3 Grandfather was an Catholic in mostly Protestant Northern Ireland. He definitely would have had relatives with memories of the Penal Laws that made Irish Catholics second class citizens.

I’m off to bed myself. Been trying to make sense of the ‘inventory report’ system of the shop management software we run. Apparently my only choices are to print every item in a particular category from every manufacturer (regardless if we carry that item or not) or simply print out the count of items that it thinks we physically have in-stock.

Problem with the first option, it’s a 15 page output for something that should really be 2 pages at most. Problem with the second is that it won’t show me things that we are currently out of.

Resorted to pulling all the fins out, matching up all the display models with the single ones. Apparently we are being robbed by a 1 legged scuba-diver, because we have 4 different orphaned fins with no partner.

Stuff like that grinds my spine

I’ve made up a spreadsheet of what we realistically should be focused on in terms of packages and price points for that item, now just need to get owner input on it.

I never appreciated what goes into running even a small retail operation before.

Glad to see True Detective Season 2 is getting good reviews. I know people loved McConnaughey and Harrelson in Season 1 but new characters/actors and a new setting will be exciting. It apparently is going to be James Ellroy/Ramyond Chandler inspired.

They way he dresses, aside from boots, is how almost everyone in my generation dresses though.

Well isn’t Jebbie the brave one. I haven’t had the TV on—have they been mentioning that Hillary was in Charleston tonight?

Finally talked to my friends who were two blocks away when it happened. They were leaving the restaurant before they knew what was going on and just got in their car without really knowing—kept getting texts from others saying “Are you guys safe?” Some of the other people they were with had gone to another bar/restaurant in the neighborhood and everybody there was locked in for awhile—not sure if it was while the police were looking for the shooter or what.

As they (my friends) were driving out of Charleston (heading north) they said a ton of cop cars were heading south into town with lights flashing—she couldn’t tell exactly what jurisdictions they were coming from.

So gamergate guys are the only people who wear jeans, boots and sweatshirts/hoodies? I’d say about 99% of kids that age dress like that. Hell, it it weren’t so freaking hot, I’d be dressed like that and I’m a 67 year old white woman.
